Quite a good idea! I'm participating with a littlebit absurd photo I've taken on a garage-row. WTF category
...and the second screen is just to prove the quality of the X8's camera is not-so-bad, if everything is on its place.
BTW your second picture is really epic
I like the dead cat!!! HAHAHA
I don't like the pic where the cat died. I love cats, so I hate it.
I'll update this post soon.

The essence of this topic is to post X8 made pictures. And when do you take picture with your phone? When something absurd or sudden thing happens, so they are just not simple photos, they're recordings of the Moment!
When I got my X8, about 10 months ago, I wasn't over impressed by the camera quality (having used a variety of compact, bridge and digital SLR cameras over the years). But then I remembered something I read a while ago - "a picture is only as good as the photographer who takes it" (paraphrased, can't find the original reference so I set out to see what I could squeeze out of it...and here are a couple of examples, unedited, straight out of the phone.
Hope these snaps inspire others to experiment with their X8 (or other phone cam!)
(Just noticed that quality of the attachments is slightly lower than the originals due to the files being recompressed when uploading to XDA - the originals are ~400kb each, the attached versions ~90kb each.)
Unedited images...

The first and third photo is really ass-kicking! I hardly can believe that you took these photos with an X8 om this quality! You sir... congrats!
@thedailycommute:
Really creative pictures!
@velnens123:
Why are the photos has got smaller dimensions than the X8 camera's maximum resolution? BTW these are really crisp images. Niceone too.
If this topic continues like this, I will mark it as my most favourite!
Thread closed because , seeing first post image and below comments, it is logical that human stupidity is well know.
OP, if you like to post dead animals pics then make it to your facebook profile and NOT here and you are like that i don't propose you for a ban.

Hi,
Thought you might like this: http://translate.google.com/transla...245/default.aspx&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=auto&tl=en
There area a couple of really great shots in that preview (yes, its a prototype model) and one thing to note are the pictures at the end of that page - which are apparently taken by the prototype Xperia's camera.
WHOA! - Check out the vide on that page!!! Is that an actual launched Xperia's unboxing video?!?!!??!?
The text in some places say prototype so i can't say for sure - google translator does a great job but sometimes it is hard to make sense of much stuff after translating.
UPDATE Definitely a prototype, after reading through the page, but contains a couple of cool pics.
Best Regards.
New Review:
There is a new Review out, including allot of pictures. But it is not in english so you will have to use Google Translator to understand a climpse of it

Actually its better off this way, so that whenever I have to load any media on the card, I dont have to pull out the battery and it would take for ever to reboot.

It was mentioned somewhere that HTC forbids them to review too deeply about the software, only hardware and superficial stuff. guess they are still working out some kinks.
hmm, fishy... no video playback testing, come on...
I was hoping to take good pictures with 5MP camera. Other review says that the camera performs fast and this one the opposite.

damn i really just need one single thing to make me sell my almost new diamond to get this HD monster... video perfomance.... diamond video perfomance SUCKS but if HD handles well with it that screen and resolution would be killer....
but seems no one knows about video perfomance so i better dont put my hopes too high....

Fugly. I'd rather get a TP2, than get that.
I hope it's fake :/
Thats fugly )
Haha I was going to post this right now. Thumbs up for Engadget lurkers .
It is kinda ugly. The TP2 is 10 times better looking, BUT wait for the hardware specs first hehe....

the look is not too bad... but what I was waiting for was a bigger screen I mean we got res 800x480 and a little screen, that's a big mess All what I wanted is that and certainly it wasn't made.
that keyboard looks disgusting
anybody can confirm that this is the final device and not just a prototype
i like the bigger screen and more usable keyboard but the design seems like a step backword

we already know the x2 is a wm6.5 device as that information was leaked a while back when a companies ceo told some website that they lost the deal to use there software on the x2 to some google software.
ps. if u save the pic and then zoom in, u will notice that the bottom right seems to have a bit missing compared to the bottom right and on the far left, which would point to a mock up or early prototype cg pic
Why go back in design? Looks like a toy compared to X1. Damn fugly.

even if this is a current pic of the x2. there is still probally 6 months till release and a lot can change in the design. the specs are more important at this point
Look at the pic below, the bits i pointed out in earler post. may be just how they did the pic but looks like a prototype cg pic/mock up.
ps. although this may be a mock-up / prototype cg pic it way still be the current design of the x2.

I just tried to use a snes emulator on my Xperia and I realize that without mutlitouch you can't press two buttons at the same time for example move and jump.

That is certainly a valid reason...Did you think about buying a gaming console?

I actually experienced that yesterday with a mate. We were sitting outside with a couple of beers enjoying the sun when he wanted to check the movie schedules for the night. He whipped out his Desire and proceeded to squint and cup his hand for a few minutes in order to see the screen. Finally he gave in and borrowed my X10 to check.
The X10 isn't fantastic in sunlight, no smartphones are, but atleast you can use it outdoors.

Just do like I do, get a Wii remote and get the WiiMote application! You can play SNES better than those multitouch people anyhow!
For those who might wonder, my first reply was just to do the same as the op did to make him see that the Desire isn't any better than the XPERIA X10.
I haven't really tested the Desire outside in sun my self, but i have seen others with it and i have had big problems to see the screen if your outside in much light conditions.
Well actually, if you plan on getting a MT phone do NOT get a nexus one nor a HTC Desire, they're the worst piece of MultiTouch phone you could possibly get, and are just good for pinch & zoom.
Due to the "axis crossover" issue playing a game with unaligned on-screen controls (just like most emulators) is almost impossible.
As for the X10, you can map "A" to the back button, "B" to the Camera button and "L/R" to the volume buttons, then use onscreen for the pad and start/select

If you're talking about syncing pics from Facebook to your phone contacts, I used SyncMyPix and it works great. Just set the pic download size to maximum and you can get pretty good results, and it skips people you've already got pics for. If that's not what you meant, I apologise.
I sync my contacts to Google as I struggle with the SE sync software too. Just have to be careful if you lose your contacts, as syncing them back from Google seems to lose a fair amount of image resolution for the contact images.

No, I don't get your point. Almost all LCD screens don't work well in direct sunlight, the Xperia included.
Anyway, it really concerns me because one of my major reasons for having an Xperia is it's supposed to entertain me, and I really like emulators.

Hardware Info:
- There's no specification of the screentype in the manual or on the box. It looks better than de Touch HD in brightness and colour, but i can't say for sure it's an SLCD.
- Compartment for SIM + SDHC is nicely finished and apparently a lot more resistant to dust and stuff than the Touch HD. (Cover here is fine).
- The camera does come out pretty far. Not really annoying, but it is a bit like a pimple.
- The sound from the build in speaker is good. It lacks some bass, but what else is new. It doesn't have a great max volume, but it sounds overall beter dan de Touch HD. (much less schrill)
- The piece around the flash is a patch of rubber/plastic from the same material as the battery+sim cover. It's just a little thicker, so it sticks out a bit. Very little though. It's properly attached and doesn't come loose.
Additional info (speed and such)
- To sync with my Google Apps it does need Google Talk? Never heard of, let's find out.
- The link to the HTC Sense site works well and the lag between them is really minimal. Click on the site to make it ring, and the DHD starts ringing immediately.
-Surfing is (with 3g) a whole whole lot faster than with the Touch HD. On the THD you'll have to wait for it to render the page and the pictures, on de DHD it's all done in a second or so.
- The Sense skin (and Android ofcourse) provide a far better user experience than the THD on WinMo.
- The rendering of the windows is instant, just as the browsing and the animations. I'm not yet familiar with Android, so I don't know what's normal.
- There's no CD in the package, only a small quick guide with the insert-battery stuff in it. The phone isn't on the support site from HTC yet, so the full manual isn't available yet
-Important: if you're going to use the phone to synchronise with Google Apps or go to the marketplace (or in fact to anything whereby you need a google account) you need to enable the service 'Chat' in your Google Apps dashboard. Else the phone rejects your account and gives an error about google talk or so.
-By default the languages are limited to: English, Francais, Deutsch and Dutch. You can get a keyboard in Turkish and many, many other languages (including arabic as far as I can see)
-The power off (hold powerbutton and choose power off) takes some time (measures:....5 seconds). The powerup then takes 1 or 1,5 seconds. Very quick! All apps are closed during the shut down.
-The restart (really a power off and a cold reboot) takes about 30 seconds.
Results:
Quadrant
Desire HD - 1879 points
Nexus one 2.2+ - 1300 points
Samsung Galaxy S - 800 points
Nenamark1 gives a score of 33,6 FPS.

I don't see a hole at the back like some promo models, looks like theres no mic for noise cancellation.

i was just about to post that! It does look really good compared to the other phone which is using LCD i presume.
However in picture 5 it looks like that black patch around the flash is about to come off. Is it meant to be like that?
look at the screen next to the touch hd, Im sold...that screen looks fine to me, the camera looks like its going to get some serious table damage though, still, I feel much happier now and maybe I wont be going on and on as much....mmm then again

I guess if the guy says its a better screen than the touch hd which has a 480 x 800 pixels lcd and he's saying the colours are better and its much brighter than maybe, just maybe it really is s-lcd.
Would also love to hear about the audio from the external speaker and the video quality and audio..

There's no specification of the screentype in the manual or on the box. It looks better than de Touch HD in brightness and colour, but i can't say for sure it's an SLCD.
The sound from the build in speaker is good. It lacks some bass, but what else is new. It doesn't have a great max volume, but it sounds overall beter dan de Touch HD. (much less schrill)
More to come
Can you upload the manual when you get a chance (if its on CD)
thanks

i actually dont think the lens will be damaged because if you look closer at that pic, the lens is slightly beveled in. The edges are protruding very slightly so the edges might get scratched, but not the lens.
