[Q] Froyo 2.2 beta2 -> beta3? - Omnia II General

Okay so I have the beta 2 thing installed and it all worked great.
Thanks a lot for the guides and for making this available! I've been waiting to ditch winmo 6.5 for AGES now.
Next step, I found this site with a installer thats supposed to update the beta2 to beta3 *cant post urls* o2droid.phj.hu <- that one
*edit*
Ok I restarted my phone and I see whats happening here, it still has winmo6.5 on it but launches android manually so now i can run the updater.
Uhm on a sidenote, how do i trash winmo 6.5 completely and just use android?

Is there no way of getting Android 1.6 back????

I hate 2.1, i think that it performs sluggishly on my phone, sure booting might be faster but everything else is sh*t!!
I have trouble installing apps, they download from the market but don't install!!!
Switching portrait to landscape takes forever!!!
And its just not very good, and as stable as 1.6, i never had any problems with 1.6 on it!!!
Is there ANYWAY at all to get back?????
PLEASE!!!!!!
I hate my phone because of this!!!
No there isnt any way, when you were upgrading, you should have known that already.

I did but i didn't know that 2.1 was going to be so problematic for me!
Try to reflash to 2.1 again, see what happens, maybe you did something wrong that it is so laggy for you.
Try to reflash your phone THEN do a hard reset. That should alleviate most of your issues including the phone being sluggish.
Hey, i fixed it. Quarx rom is so fast.

Why downgrade to 1.6 man ?!
1. Upgrade it from 1.6 to 2.1
2. Upgrade 2.1 to 2.1 with fastboot
3. Upgrade 2.1 with fastboot to 2.1 with fastboot and Clockwork recovery
4. Add the latest KERNEL
5. Root the phone
6. Flash it with OpenSwift4.3 (most people got problems with 4.4)
7. Download SetCPU and clock it to max 806 - stable
8. Download LauncherPro from the net... Install it and make it your Defoult launcher
9. Now you got the cheapest and best mobile on the EARTH
Im using it without any problems and its quicker and better then my friends HTC Desire !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
btw. dont install any App Killers like Advanced Task Killer or something like that cause its killing your mobile, it doesent help you out... Kills your CPU and battery a lot !
I liked 1.6 but there are few apps I wanted that required 2.1 so I went with the Black Quarx rom, great so far and everything works (afaik). Still think its a shame that the original 1.6 rom isn't available.

Getting Android on my HD2

Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody could link me to some guides on how to install Gingerbread 2.3 to my HD2?
Thanks.
Read the threads
U should be reading the posted threads to know everything from the start
but i can guide u with this, first of all u have android either booting from windows which is the sdcard build, or the NAND rom which boots directly with android
u have to choose which one to use 1st, every way has its own adv and disadv
after choosing, its better to stick with froyo builds, as they r mature enough and stable and having almost everything working with it.
gingerbread has a problem with GPS to work and some other glitches on our HD2
in my opinion stick with sdcard builds until the NAND is perfectly settled
choose the way 1st and i can send u a direct link to it
good luck

which android for my htc hd2?

i recently purchased HTC HD2 phone that comes with windows mobile 6.5.
I don't have a problem with it but some friends praised Android. I tried froyo on my sd card but it didn't work very well. it crashed and didn't load properly. Then someone told me that i've to remove windows mobile and install android fresh.
Can anyone suggest if android runs well on htc hd2? will i be able to use camera, phone, wifi, data, gps with android? But primarily it should work like any phone out there, after all its a phone.
Go to the HD2 Android Dev forum. There should be AmeriCanDroid.
That's a good stable build that I'm using.
SD base.
As far as I remember, AmeriCanDroid is for US T-Mobile users. If you use european version then I would suggest trying ROMs by Rafdroid (it's of course only my suggestion, but his ROMs are most stable for me.)
go to android NAND development and search for the stickies. there is a link which show a lot of android builds.
you can choose by yourself what kind of android you prefer (sense builds, stock froyo, gingerbread etc.) just give it a try
I´m personally on typhoons cm7 which runs really great.
but do i have to remove my existing windows mobile on my htc hd2?
will i be able to sync all my contacts, text messages with android?
Android works with google, so you can put the contacts in your gmail and it will sync with android on the telephone. Text messages wont work as far as I know
Just like the other people say, take a look in the android nand section and read the sticky's, they tell you everything you need to know.
I'm on the HyperDroid and works great
read thist thread, it will help you to decide.
ps: mods, this thread should be stick. its very helpfull to noods and more advanced users

Actually, they post US and ex-US builds each time a new build is released. Many ex-US users post there, but far too many US and ex-US ask the same tired questions over and over. Read the FAQ, and enjoy a good build.
id go for this thread HERE, which should help you get started.

Me too. It is stable and has low battery usage.
Development is in progress, the remaining issues should be fixed soon.

I followed the steps provided at thread provided by gizmolisa2006.
After step 3 was done, which was to install MAGLDR 1.13 and it flashed (if thats the correct word) ROM to 2.00.000.0 by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe.
after that i pressed the power key and it doesn't go into bootloader or the magldr menu doesn't come up. i did what it said in that video as well. but no luck.
now my hd2 is stuck on white background with pink "Stick Together" logo.
Can anyone please help?
Did you flash HSPL first?
cap
my bad, i was suppossed to install 2.08.hspl instead of 3.03.
its working fine now.
I installed gingerbread i guess.

help... i don't really know what type HTC HD2 i m using.. i m confused by so many types in the market, leoxxxx...t-mobile, htc sense?
i suggest hyperdroidgbx cm7 v1.0.3 runs great super fast and stable as all hell for me...only froze on me once so far and it was while i was streaming videos using flash...
great build
The most important thing is to get proficient at flashing your hd2 so that you can try out a few builds. Once you get hspl and magloader on your phone, I recommend coredroid simply because the instructions for getting clockwork recovery on your phone and installing coredroid are laid out fairly clear in a file with the download. From there you can try flashing other builds if coredroid doesn't suit your needs. I'm currently using hyperdroid and it's great for me.

help a noob

Hi i am new here and to new to android . I want to flash my xperia x10 form the stock software to 2.2 or higher. I have read most of the guides and am still unsure which rom and baseband to use. I am running Ubuntu 10.
thanks
I would suggest Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3, it's fast and stable, and looks nice =)
It is also easy to install since it needs baseband .54, which you can get it from the .435 stock firmware directly.

i would have to agree that Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 would be the rom of choice. It is super stable and quite fast too.
You will need to root your phone, and then install xRecovery. Then you can install ROMS from the xRecovery menu.
Root using superoneclick and then copy the xRecovery APK to your phone and install it. Download the ROM files and copy them to your SD card, reboot into xRecovery and follow the ROM installation steps (backup all your stuff on your phone first - i suggest My Backup Root (from the market) - provided you have rooted it already). If you want to try different basebands, i have included a link for them too.
As for doing all this from ubuntu - i think you will need to be running a Windows VM or find another pc that has Windows installed, i tried from Ubuntu myself but it was just easier from a Winblows machine.

I'm also kind of a noob, but I really want to make this stuff work...
I took this thread as a base, I currently have the 2.1 official update on my X10. So far I used the superclick tool and it said it rooted my phone (how can I make sure it worked?)
Then I downloaded the stuff and run the xRecovery app, it said it granted some superuser thing, but then I see nothing else...
Any help appreciated, specially if I skipped some steps maybe?
if you want to check if you are rooted, intall titanium backup and see if the app runs. If it does, then you've got root.
I didnt get what you wanted to ask in the second part of your question though..
I was missing an app from the market
Ok I got it working
So far I'm testing this new stuff...woah, amazing.
Any recommendations of things (ROMs) I should try?
p.s. I got no signal and WiFi won't turn on... I guess this is normal?
@ aR_ChRiS and mrtim123
Second that Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 is one of the most complete 2.2 roms. But you'll want to look up post on how to:
- root your phone
- install xRecovery (requires busybox), and how to use it
In case if you "brick" your phone or get stuck in a boot loop, look up for "flashtool".
Hope this helps.

I put together an easy to follow with step by step instructions and made it as noob proof as possible. Check it out, follow the guide in my sig. Iv tried to explain everything in as much detail as possible

WIFI, camera and everything else works great for me. Except for the camcoder, it's got a bit of audio sync problem if not using the right setting.

How do you get it to the right setting? and someone told me it drains your battery. is this true?
Yes battery life isn't that great but acceptable for me.
~24 hours under medium usage
~12-15 hours under heavy use
You need to have your focus setting set to infinity to have better audio sync.
To be honest I don't think the camcorder is up to average user's standard, but camera works just fine.
Things I like from this rom are:
- improved performance (very few lags, things run much smoother than stock 2.1 especially when texting)
- android 2.2 apps & features (gmail 2.3, flash, JIT...)
- no random reboots
- the unlock slider does not lag after the screen is off for awhile
Known issues to my knowledge:
- incomplete camcorder
- no live wallpaper
In case you haven't noticed tho, devs here have figured out a way to bypass x10's bootloader. This will enable us to load custom kernels.
All the roms here before the breakthrough are only built on top of the stock 2.1 kernel. That's causing some limitations in developing custom roms (issues such as having a working driver for x10 camera)
So if u can wait for a bit I'm sure there will be better roms (with android 2.3) coming in the next couple months! And Sony has announced there will be official 2.3 upgrade coming possibly during this summer.
However I've been using wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 for over a month now, would really recommend it if ur not that into video recording lol
