Hi,
I have just received my fcous unlocked from AT&T rev 1.3 (WP7 build 7004)
I have a few queries:
1) If reset, hard reset, soft reset my device will i loose the operator unlock
2) will updating to a newer version of WP7 result in me loosing my operator unlock code
3) how do i go about getting mango on my focus
4) Zune shows me february 2011 upadte available but every time the device fails to connect while restarting and update fails with the error code 801812C1
need help as i want to enjoy the mango fruit as early as possible
1) Once unlocked, no firmware up/downgrade reflash, hard reset is going to affect carrier unlock
2) same
3) short version here
4) try updating on another pc, read here

Tonight, I used Chevron to unlock my AT&T branded Samsung Focus, and then used a registry hack to 'unbrand' my phone. I then proceeded to install both updates.
My question is, if I use the 'Reset Phone' option in Settings, when the reset is finished, will it have NoDo software, or pre-NoDo software?
Thanks!
(EDIT)
I realize the phone would no longer be Chevron unlocked after the reset.
No. It will stuck at the whatever firmware you have last. However, you should be able to restore to a backup from Zune when you did the NoDo update.
I have the Samsung Focus and have Unlocked it with Chevron Unlock Tool. I already updated to the latest firmware version, the one with copy and paste and it seems that the Chevron Unlock is still intact as I can still sideload apps.
I want to reset the phone to wipe all my personal info since I'm going to sell the phone, so:
1) would resetting it wipe the Chevron unlock even though I've installed the Samsung tool that prevents relocking?
2) Would I still be able to use the Chevron Unlock with the latest firmware on the Focus? (in case the next buyer wants a Chevron Unlocked phone)
TIA.
If you do the format reset then yes the phone will be relocked. It will be in the same state as it was when it was new in the box.
Chevron is just "Dev" unlocking the phone, allowing code to be installed and run that is NOT signed and vetted etc... for marketplace.
It isnt a true "Jailbreak". All you are doing is installing a cert and then Dev unlocking the device so a reset clears all those settings.
The latest OS upgrade will NOT chevron unlock. You can reset, unlock and then update via the official AT&T updater with zune and it all works and stays unlocked. I have done this to 7390

So you mean since I already updated to the latest firmware, Chevron unlock would no longer work?
You are using the term "Firmware" and I am referring to the NODO update. So if you are at 7390 then no chevron doesnt work.
I did the official AT&T update and was able to use the backup it made to revert to the original OS, chevron unlock then NODO update and am still unlocked.
If you want to make the phone "unlockable" for the next user,
I would use the Zune backup to revert to 7008, if that's still possible, and from there, do the "reset"
This would remove the unlock, but the new owner of the phone could unlock again in this state.
If your backup doesn't restore the phone to 7008, but 7390, there is currently nothing you can do to "reset" the phone and make it unlockable
Stuck on error code 80004005 trying to update from isv 7403 ( which Zune updated from cab 7392) to 7720 via Zune.
Stuck on step 7 installing update gets about 50% before it restarts..
Just wondering as I'm locked to tmobile and they have yet to release mango could this be the reason why or have others achieved to update
So not sure if I need to debrand or lower firmware if its possible as I have all the tricks suggested..thanks all
Just unboxed a Verizon Trophy today. Activated on the Network successfully.
Phone is running the following Windows Phone Version
OS Version: 7.0.7389.0
Firmware Revision Number: 2305.06.10322.605
Hardware Revision Number: 003
Radio Hardware Version: 1.52.00.03.28_23.15w.05.06U
Bootloader version: 1.3.230506.23
Chip SOC version: 2.3.0.5.6
The phone is saying no updates found.
Zune software did not update on initial connection.
When trying to manually update via Zune Software 4.8 the following error appears.
"Can't check for updates right now. Please try again later.
We couldn't connect to the update service. Disconnect and reconnect your phone, then try installing the update again.
80072EE7"
This error has occurred on three separate computers including a fresh install.
While this device is brand new it's no longer under warranty.
Any Ideas?
Verizon, HTC, and Microsoft have no clue whats going on.
Screw that, you have two options.
SPL hack, custom rom. Read my guide here to find out how!
Benefits:
Full unlock, run stuff like Opera!
Internet sharing enabled!
Download the newest rom and flash it. You won't lose any data since you have non to lose. Go to footballs thread here and get "RUU_Spark_W_S_VERIZON_WWE_2.04.605.02_Radio_NV_0215_NV58008_RELEASE.exe".
Sorry I didn't catch this thread earlier, but I hope this helps. I'd just do a full unlock. :/ Having the shipping rom and the 1.03 bootloader (you should), you should be able to unlock very easily.
Sorry, double post... lost internet during first post. Please delete.
Still have not received the mango update. I've been searching and researching this issue for more than 4 months with no luck.
When connecting to zune, it says my phone is up to date with current software version: 7.0 (7392)
i have tried the "walshed" phone fix but that was not the issue.
also, the phone doesnt seem to have full functionality with WPDM and whenever i try and install a .xap file, the application wont launch after being installed on my phone.
the reason i am this desperate is because i want to back up all of my text messages on this phone. my mother passed away recently and it would means a great deal to me that i keep those conversations. if i am able to do this without installing mango, then that is fine by me.
my logic in installing mango is that all of the latest apps such as smsbackup require an unlocked mango device.
i have tried installing WP7 Root Tools so that smsbackup is able to operate on this lg device.
any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance

To backup all SMS and all messages in Messages tile, use SMSBackup. Then try to flash your phone with Telstra ROM, here is the guide.
Note #1: Your phone must be network unlocked first before flashing because you might not be able to enter unlock code once you flashed it to Telstra ROM. The only solution is re-flash to its original ROM then enter unlock code then flash it to Telstra ROM again. You can buy unlock in Ebay.com and price is as cheap as chip.
Note #2: The reason that I suggested Telstra ROM is because it is the only network that give the latest Mango update for LG Quantum, but no sign of Tango.
