I am new to android but did countless ROM updates to my windows phones.
My question is : my phone is t-mobile branded but unlocked can I updates its Official Rom? will it lock again? what are the known issues doing such update on unlocked phone?

If you used an unlock code then installing other ROMs (official or custom) will not affect the SIM lock of your handset.
hello ddotpatel
Hey,
So I bought a new Samsung Focus device on Ebay(my carrier is not AT&T) and I can't do any update to the phone.
When I click the Settings>About>More all i can see is that the OS version is 7.0.7004.0 and I the cell phone says that it's up to date.
Also when i connect it to Zune, it says that the phone is already up to date.
If anyone could give me a full guide of how to update my phone..
P.S: My phone is Unlocked.
Any help will be appreciated too .
Thank you!
All AT&T branded WP7 devices are on 7004 now.
Wait for AT&T, or debrand ur phone.
What do you mean by "debrand" the phone? And I saw some samsung focus devices with NoDo and the first patch on Youtube.
Can you please also explain how will AT&T send the update? will it be through Zune? (My carrier is not AT&T)
Updates come from Microsoft to your Zune software. Since your phone is AT&T branded, AT&T is currently blocking all its WP7 phones from receiving updates until it finishes its testing. Debranding requires you to jail break your phone and remove the carrier branding entries in the registry so that your updates are no longer held back by AT&T.
Updates are not coming from AT&T but AT&T can block your phone for receiving updates.
You're looking at end of April time frame for AT&T phones to start receiving current NoDo update.
I have a new focus running wp7 and I want yo upgrade to wp7.5. The phone is unlocked by entering the code. Will be remain unlocked once I update to mango?
Yes it will remain unlocked.
Hey guys,
Saw a very good deal on ebay india, the seller is selling an unlocked version Note - 3 T-mobile (US), so it can work on Indian GSM carriers.
Now, if you see the description: it mentions:
"The OS Software is Unlocked to Work with all GSM SIMS.
You are not supposed to Update the OS Software as Unlock code is applied to it"
2 quick questions:
1) Can you help me understand what does the seller mean here? The device will obviously be running on JB, so i wont be able to update it to the officially released Kitkat? Will manually flashing a firmware from say Sammobile, revert the unlock code and make the device useless?
2) Buying a US phone for Indian use.. Will i miss out on any features? or will it be a problem in any way??
Please help me out guys
Hello. I have a few questions regarding automatic system updates and unlocking my bootloader on my snapdragon at&t Galaxy s10+ (model SM-G975U)
1) Will cellular unlocking my device allow me to disable automatic system ota updates?
My phone has updated itself ever since I've had it and I don't want it to auto update to android 12 on its own. I've heard cellular unlocking my device will allow me to so and just want to confirm.
2) Is there and will there ever be a snapdragon bootloader unlock for the s10+?
As I said earlier, I don't want the phone to update because it is slowing down and the battery is dieing faster with android 11. I would like to unlock the bootloader, install the latest version of android 10, and disable automatic system updates so I can stay on Android 10. And if this is possible, will it trip knox if I downgrade?
Thanks.

There has been a bootloader unlock for all snapdragon variants of s10 for quite some time now.. you need to google SAMPWN bootloader unlcocks
it is run by an xda dev. it is around $100 though. I can vouch for both the service and the developer as hes been a trusted friend and developer for xda for several years!
