I see the I997 version on samfirmware.com, but not I897. Strange...
Why do I think that this is the infuse version, and I should wait for someone to try it? lol

Interesting, I assume you need to be on ATT bootloaders before flashing, via Odin since its a .rar file?

Looks like there are bootloaders in the package (there's a boot.bin and SBL.bin in the tar).
But yeah, I'm gonna wait for the pros to dissect this bad boy first.

And why is the ki1 not on samfirmware site ?
edit: Nevermind, I just went to your website. I suppose that you are just able to get the leaks before others because of your partnership with samfirmware.com Thanks for the links to this leak and others in the past. Much appreciated.
nice to see new updates sad to say they dont release any source from gb which makes all our custom captivate leak too much stock i hope samsung release it so we can have a good captivate leak kernel
Thanks for the modem. Gonna try it now on pinnacle
So to flash this you just have to place the *tar.md5 file in the PDA slot of odin? Anything in particular I need to check?
Looking into this .tar there is no dbdata.rfs or param.lfs included. -- Just as these were not in the KH3 leak.
The boot.bin and sbl.bin appear to be the same judging by there size, as well as the cache.rfs. The modem.bin is also the same size as was in the kh3 (although this means nothing other than that it is the same size).
The factoryfs.rfs and the zImage are both different sizes than the kh3.
Just some initial observences that I thought I'd share.

Downloading now
Edit: Flashing Now
Looking at the Twitter feed, the KI2 is 184,98MB and the KI3 is 184,99MB.
Im wondering if we are really close to final release and all of these leaks are just fixing the last few bugs (black lockscreen until wallpaper is chosen)?
What are the improvements/changes, if any, over KI1?

It looked like there was a KI3 as well, but the datestamp was actually older than the latest KI2! Probably just multiple code branches and they decided to merge on the most stable KI2 -- so it looks like this may be the stable one for a while.
But's it really nice that they got 2.3.5 in here instead of just settling on 2.3.3 or 2.3.4!
It's raining updates.

Yeah, this will again (as in the kh3, ki1 and ki2) be another non wipe. Or rather the only thing that shows to be wiped when Odined is the cache. This is again because this leak was not released in a 3 file set up. i.e. a "main".tar, MODEM.tar and a CSC.tar -- this is how the KF1 was set up.

So... are there any clues to look for in the ROM to show the continued existence of test code inside the ROM? (I am assuming of course, that there would be some code that exists merely for debugging purposes). [CROSS FIGURES] Presumably seven months after the i9000 got Gingerbread, four months after AT&T said it was coming this year, and a week after the Epic got it, an official drop should be coming soon. [/CROSS FIGURES] KK2 has worked the best of all of the Gingerbread leaks to date, almost hesitant to go through another rebuild effort (yes, I expect KK4 is non-wipe, but better safe than sorry),

Does deleting the Tethering Manager.apk "enable" tethering? I never understood the difference between a stock rom and one with "Tethering enabled".

Tethering as a function is enabled within Gingerbread, the tethering manager is supposed to assure that you have an AT&T tethering plan (however, I have sadly learned that it does not always work with corporate plans). Deleting or freezing the APK defeats the plan compliance check.

Quite difficult to tell...too early to judge. But with placebo effect, I'll tell you that it faster that KK5 I used prior to this one...but it may also be just because It's a fresh new rom (I wipe everything before flashing.I was using a custom rom therefore didn't want any trouble-bootloop etc.).
By the way, only support English and some South-Asian languages (thailand etc..)
Bottom line: Nothing have changed...all those samsung 2.3.6 rom are the same....just wait for ICS, it might bring some real improvements

Yes, it's being uploaded but the bandwidth is being shared with some uploads to a workgroup server.
