I am having that same problem too, I feel like throwing the phone at the wall am getting really pissed about this.
I got this from the Tmobile forums
After talking with some phone tech friends of mine.... unfortunately cant say which company in Austin, TX they work for..... I found out that the first batch of HD2s that were sent out had a corrupt file in them that was causing all kinds of freez ups and other issues. They told me about how to tell if mine was in the first flawed batch or the the batches that were sent after that been fixed by HTC prior to shipping them to tmobile. Here's how to tell:
If you remove the back battery cover and look for the factory reset button which is located below the battery to the left near the left edge where the cover snaps in place, you will be able to see that it is colored. If the color of the button is red, it is part of the first flawed batch that came out. If the button is yellow or any other color then it is part of the batches that had the problem fixed before they were sent out by HTC.
I am not sure if this info has been posted yet or not but if it hasn't then I hope this may give some insight to thoes who have been having some problems with their HD2. I am just guessing that if you were to sent your HD2 back for a new updated one, that tmobile would honor this issue and exchange it for you.
Thanks for all the info that ya'll post on here, it has come in handy!

help
is there any more people can give me some more advise ? Cause my phone still like that keeps on freezing every single day , can someone please help . Thank you
I got a new HD2 last evening from my Tmobile store. The soft reset button on my firsrt one was red, it had HORRIBLE problems, a freakin headache. This new one has a yellow soft reset button and it crashed really bad last night after I turn it off and on. SENSI UI didn't load for like 10mins and it was glitching from Start Menu to the Sense UI menu. Ive only had the phone for 7hours, stock ROM too. This is fustrating.
mine got a red dot but it's not freezing for the past month.
I've had mine 7 days. Yellow reset button. Stock Rom.
No freezing at all. Battery sucks. I turned off a few things in Sense UI yesterday and the seems to have improved.
From what I've read, most of the freezing problems are due to the slow MicroSD or with large number op SMS or Music files.
Try taking out your card for a few hours and see if its still freezing. If it is, ask for a new card.
Do yourself a favor return the phone your still with in the 14 day period. All of these problems are Sense U.I related and only custom roms can be fixed but your warranty will be voided..I wish i didnt buy this from Ebay and bought it from a corp store, so i could have returned it..
even with custom ROM.. less freezing but yes.. usually on the texting.. i think htc just released a new tmo rom the 26

New faster? What does that mean? Are you saying to get a new 1GB microSD instead of using the 16GB microSDHC card that came with the phone?
A card isn't "fast", the thing that determines the speed of which a card can be "read" is the size of the card (32GB would be "slower" than 16GB).

Actually the speed that an SD card can be read at is rated by "class" (2, 4, 6, 8, and even some at 10 now)....the higher the class, the faster it can be read from. Unfortunately, HTC saw fit to provide us with a class-2 16GB from the factory, which can contribute to a number of issues, so even a class-4 card of any size would provide better performance than that
I upgraded to a class 6 8 gb micro sd and all freezing issues have ended except for sms freezing. I hope tmobile comes up with a firmware fix for it
the ugly truth is...
HTC did not do a lot to upgrade the ROM they sent to the US. Even with having a 6 month start and KNOWING the issues and complaints they were receiving overseas. Yes, you can flash, yes there are multiple tweaks, yes the people here are great at helping. However, the basic functionality that "should" but, did not come with the phone (sms lags, music skipping, sytem crashes when using proprietary sense UI) is really quite bad. Everone does not have these problems but there are more and more people asking the same questions.
I am going to wait until T-mo and htc get their @$$e$ in gear and release a fix. No timetable yet for it, but they have heard and earfull and are doing something . Then I will flash after all the manufacturers cures are applied.

I too just purchased mine. Class 2 file transfer for a 16 gig card is ridiculous. For this phone anyway. Also waiting for that sms freezing fix. It is definitely swype related and for some reason, swype (unlike any other input format) needs all messages loaded prior to being able to function. Blah...these are the ONLY issues I am having with the phone. Have had it since March 25th.

ZERO corruptions for me. Stock, unrooted, both OTA's installed.
Yeah man, it seems that there is something wrong with the usb port you're plugging your phone into. I never had a problem with it. Check your other hardware before you absolutely blame it on the phone.

NONE at all. Stock, rooted.
Just make sure you eject from your PC before unmounting your card
Just to check, you are safely removing it from your system before disconnecting your phone, correct? Not so much a problem in Windows 7, but could cause corruption if you aren't doing that.
edit: Natty_lite beat me to the punch!
One time so far, luckily I had picked up one of these:
http://www.meritline.com/microsd-memory-card-reader---p-38219.aspx
Using that, my PC was still able to read the sd card and I was able to pull all of my data off of it. Then formatted sd card on the phone, and copied data back over. Well worth the 1.85, better to be safe than sorry.
Actually got mine when it was on sale for .39 cents. At the time I didn't know if I would ever even use it, but glad that I got it now.

when in recovery (amonRA) you have the ability to mount the microSD which should be the same as using the adapter(which i have at home) but windows wouldnt even recognize it.
Replace the SD card?
0 corruptions so far for me. Both on my original 8gb and transcend 16gb.

Try that and see what happens. You got nothing to lose. I will reply on other thread if success or failure. I think it might be poor design of the SD card area. Other older designs didn't give me any problems in the past.

The Vibrant looks to have been completely removed from TMobile's website. What the hell?
IT is gone, but the stores are still selling it. It just got replace by the 4g that is coming out, nothing new. It is still a good phone and wont trade it in for less. I dont live in a 4g area so whats the point of having a 4g phone.
I'm just worried that I won't be able to get the Vibrant for a warranty replacement or insurance claim. I don't want the 4g.

you'll either get a refurb (business as usual), which i'm sure they have plenty of or an option for a new phone (like maybe the sgs4g). i wouldn't worry about it, either way.
I read somewhere that a guy was given a 4G in exchange for his broken Vibrant. It's not like they will tell you that you're SOL. If you're under warranty they'll give you a refurb or something comparable.

Wrong thread to report ur flashing problems. There is a lot of how to get it back. I had the same issue when i updated my rom to the tmobile rom and not knowing how to get back to root. ODIN is your friend. Search it.
that could be good or bad. I need to go to the stop and ***** about the GPS on both my Vibrants since after dealing with the executive response team and getting them replaced once before they said next time I'll have to go to a store to prove I have a GPS problem. So one of these days I better flash back to stock and go show them before they don't have any refurbs or new ones to give me. I don't want to 4G either. I get just as fast downloads here as the people I know with the Mytouch 4G and the G2.
That's good news to me, my Vibrant's GPS is terrible.
I heard some good comment of the 4G's GPS.

So far (as of 11AM, 7/7/11), there have been 29 unique users who have voted in this survey. While the SD card bug has not been isolated as of yet, my preliminary analysis did turn up some significant trends. The 2nd post will analyze what those whose cards are still working had in common, and the 3rd post will analyze trends among those whose cards have experienced failure.
What Those Whose Cards are Still Working Had in Common
There have been four users (as of 11AM, 7/7/11) who posted that their cards were still working when they voted in the poll, who also posted more details about their experience flashing EC09. Unfortunately, the things they all had in common were also shared with some who have lost their SD cards. Nevertheless, following their steps **may** give you a greater chance of preserving your card. First I will list what all four had in common. Next I will list what three out of four had in common.
1. They all...
...previously ran UKB (Community Rom) 2.x
...used the stock EC09 kernel that came with the original leak
...had a working stock video player (Obviously, you can't control this but if your video player is working that's at least a good sign
...had more than 4GB available on their cards
2. Three out of four...
...flashed the stock EC09 leak (no custom ROM)
...wiped data, cache and Dalvik in CWM in addition to Odin (which also wipes all three)
...restored their apps with Titanium Backup rather than reinstalling them manually through the Market
As stated before, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT FOLLOWING THESE STEPS WILL PREVENT YOUR CARD FROM BEING DISABLED. For the time being, there is no confirmed fix for this very serious issue. Even though every developer reminds you that you flash their ROMs at your own risk, flashing EC09 in any form is especially risky and far more dangerous. As more results come in, more trends may come up that at least help narrow down the causes of this issue.
Trends Among Those Whose SD Cards Were Disabled by EC09
There are some notable trends among those who have had their cards disabled by EC09. In this post, I will note the things that resulted in SD card failure for everyone who did or experienced them, and I will note other notable trends. It must be pointed out that this is a PRELIMINARY analysis of a NON-SCIENTIFIC poll, so these results should be taken as guidelines, not facts or rules etched in stone.
1. Things that users did that always led to SD card failure as of 7/7/11 (please also notice the disclaimers):
...All came from NON-UKB (Community ROM) 2.x builds (even some who WERE on UKB 2.x lost their cards)
...All were either on Nameless 4.0 or TechnoROM (but some of those who used stock EC09 and Nameless 4.1 also lost their cards)
...All used the recommended CWM recoveries posted on the Nameless ROM and TechnoROM threads (by the OP). Again, many who did not use these CWM recoveries also lost their cards.
...All flashed the Nameless custom kernel (many of those who used stock EC09 kernels also lost their cards)
...All had non-working stock video players (obviously, you can't control whether your video player works after flashing EC09, and many who had working video players also lost their cards - nevertheless, if your video player is not working, I strongly recommend getting off EC09 immediately - and I hope you already backed up your SD card's contents)
...All had less than 4GB available on their SD cards before flashing EC09 (most of those who had more than 4GB also lost their cards, but having less than 4GB has so far yielded a 100% rate of failure)
2. Other trends:
...9 users lost their cards right away or within a day (I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH - BACK UP YOUR CARD BEFORE TAKING THE PLUNGE!)
...12 users lost their cards within a few days (even if you didn't lose your card right away, you're definitely not in the clear)
...4 users lost their cards after a week or more of running EC09 (even after a week, there are no guarantees that you're safe)
...11 users lost their cards while their phones were running, and 11 users lost their cards while booting up (the conclusion is obvious, isn't it?)
Unfortunately, nothing conclusive has been found as to the cause of the SD card failures, but there are some things noted above that I strongly recommend avoiding, as they have yielded 100% failure rates so far. Actually, I strongly recommend against flashing EC09 at all, unless you have some spare SD cards and back your data up religiously (oh no! I said the "R" word!). Every developer I've talked to has said the bug has not been found and appears to be quite random. Please take this into consideration when you decide whether to flash anything EC09.
Given the number of voters and items and the fact that these things were also shared by people who did lose their sdcards, it seems likely that what your seeing is random noise rather than a causal connection.

Unfortunately, that is also the conclusion I came to
So of 29 reporting users, only 4 did not lose their cards. Even taking into account reporting bias (people without problems tend not to report that) that suggests a very high failure rate. Given that, the problem is likely something that is common in the system itself rather than in how users implement the system. For example, it may have something to do with the way that the leak examines, and perhaps tries to repair, media on the sdcard. (I know nothing about how the internals work, this is just an example idea.)
I commend you for taking the time to go through all this, but I agree, there's nothing terribly instructive in the results. Alas, research doesn't always yield the results we hope for. (As a suggestion, you may want to reword the items in point 1 of your third post. "All came from non-UKB" sounds like everyone who had a failed card came from non-UKB. I'd say something like "All who came from non-UKB".)
Good info. I wish there was some sort of smoking gun. Lots of desirable things are built into EC09.
That being said, I'm still waiting for mine to fail. Ran the first week with the stock 16GB card and no issues, went back to CM7 then back to EC09 with a spare 4GB card. Still no issues.
One thing you may want to add to the poll, is ask who had "auto rotate" disabled and if they did, was the SD card failure still there. That's a known issue with the package since it causes a HUGE cpu draw. Could be related, or may not be. Who knows.

There is no guarantee that your card will fail. However, it appears that this situation is worse than I first thought. Assuming at least hundred people flashed, and at least 25+ had failed cards... it isn't looking good. Thank you skynet for your poll, but I really think that it will go nowhere. It most likely has little to do with the procedure one follows (like if they ran UKB). Probably the only thing that would matter is if they flashed the ODIN leak and then a custom, just a custom, or just the ODIN leak. It is probably just an issue within the system that may or may not be able to be fixed without source code.
Back when I updated the TechnoROM OP to warn about the extent of the SD Card bug, I pretty much stopped development. There is no reason to flash this leak (EC09) with the amount and severity of bugs. Not only does the SD Card have issues, but the auto-rotate causes excessive cpu usage. Other issues include wake lock permission issues (which may or may not be fixable without source).
More importantly, logcats and any debugging reports could be of help, so don't be afraid to post.
Yeah, looks like you're right, jptech. Nothing conclusive has resulted from the poll, and as you said it likely has nothing to do with user procedures. Just thought I'd try... Do you think there may be any correlation between the autorotate issue and the fried sd cards? Like, maybe, autorotate maxes the CPU which then causes the phone to spazz out and bork the sd card? Just grasping at straws...

Does autorotate engage during boot? The proximal trigger seems to engage at a lot of different times. I'd start by looking at what happens during boot as that's likely to have the least amount of variation. However, the variability in the onset strongly suggests that there is also some interaction effect or random element to account for also.
Do we know that the SD failures are of the same type? Are they all fried in the same way or to the same degree?
The hard part with this survey ( and by no means is this your fault) is that you will inherently get more responses from those who had failed SD cards than those who are running just fine. Failure likes to promote itself while success does not. Again, not bashing you....just point out the obvious which I am sure you already know.
I do commend you for even attempting this and the results are interesting. Not really a clearly defined answer yet. Hopefully more will vote.
I may be 100% wrong in this assumption, but what if this is why Verizon has been quiet about our gb update? Maybe they saw the bug and are trying to fix it?

Makes sense - remember how buggy DL30 and EB01 were? Of course, neither one had a bug anywhere near as serious as this one.
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
Didn't get in on the vote but I will add my expierence with EC09 in hopes it can help. I ran it for couple weeks and had no SD failure, I went back to ComRom because couldn't play videos and the gallery didn't work properly. Here was my upgrade and downgrade procedure.
1.Odined EC09 full stock leak while running ComRom 2.1
2.Odined CWM 3-30 fix all, installed Superuser ran couple days there.
3.Tried nameless for a couple days, didn't care for it (sorry nameless but good job)
4.Odined back to stock EC09 and rooted again same procedure as above.
5.Finally Odined back to EB01 then built back to current setup with ComRom
Hope this can help in some way.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Hello, Guys I just got my GNote International today, I'm fairly well at the rooting and getting things going after I get a push in the right direction. My Current devices are only the Galaxy Note and Asus Transformer Prime, HP Touchpad, But in the past Ive done rooting with The original GTab from Viewsonic -First tablet, Nook, Streak 7, ZTE warp, Galaxy Tab 10.1, HP Touchpad, Asus Transformer Prime- Current Tab. I have never rooted a phone before besides the Warp and it was very simple, one click deal, The GNote seems very complex it is a different beast. So I really need some help with This bad boy, If you can help thank you very much.
Here is the Rundown on my Phone. Just got it Today. Sim Will be here tomorrow.
International Ver.
Gingerbread 2.3.6
Kernel
2.6.35.7 N7000XXLA4-CL886827
[email protected]#2
Build
GINGERBREAD.XXLA4
1. I wont get my Straight Talk [email protected] Sim card until tomorrow, I was told to order the att straight talk Sim Card is that right. I had the option of unlocked or ATT and on the message board most responses said get att, so you don't get stuck on EDGE and t-mobile.
2. Should I let it update and root before I get the Sim in it. I'm ready to get started now but like i said I wont get my Sim until tomorrow. Its already asking me to update but I haven't done anything yet because I know update can ruin rooting methods, etc.
3. I live in the US this phone will be fine as working right it was the only white one and I wanted a white one with the home button. I don't think it matters just making sure I didn't jump the gun, and that this will work with straight talk ATT Sim.
On my current version and rom, kernel etc. what would be the easiest root method for me. So I can put CWM and start setting it up to my liking.
If you need anymore info just let me know I haven't put this thing down since I got it. My Asus Prime aint been out all day. It seems like the Phone are way more complicated to root and get set up with Sim Cards. Maybe its just because I'm new to the phones, my Warp was a 4.3 Boost Mobile and I thought that would be all the bigger I would need but I like Samsung products and this is just so much bigger than it sounds like it would be, and the use of a tablet and phone is what made me jump.
My tech knowledge is decent at least 7-8 so I will figure it out. I just don't want to skip important steps. I want to make sure I do everything in order, that's why I asked if I can root and all that before my sim card gets here tomorrow, remember this is my first root on a phone that is unlocked. If anyone can help me make sure I don't do anything out of order, I will appreciate it a lot. Thanks for any help in advance.
It doesnt matter if you root with or without sim card. Probably need to find the apn settings for your chosen carrier.

Ok I understand that but will it matter if I root it first, set up ICS and CWM before setting up my APN settings with straight talk on my original rom? Does it really matter?
Root put on ICS rom then I can still set up service with straight talk or
set up service with straight talk then root CWM and ICS any difference?
I'm just wondering if I root this thing and set up my new ICS rom will I still be able to set up my straight talk service, or should I wait first to set up my service when my Sim gets here?

For APN, download APN backup & restore from market, then backup your current APN, then even if you flash official or custom roms, you can always restore your son if the from doesn't have it

You can set your apn first/middle/last, it doesnt matter. Just like your previous devices, your apn is always available in your settings option. You can change it whenever or add one whenever. Root just gives you access to system files and will not effect your apn.
Stop thinking so hard lol. But make sure you read, read, read before installing ics. I would recommend downloading a few stock gb roms and making backup of your current rom before going forward. Its extremely hard to brick a samsung device, but make sure you have something ready before installing.
Root now..the sim card is just your service..you set apn on any new rom.just jump on wifi for data...don't ever update the phone through settings..unless you want to lose root..always install rooted roms so you may wait a day for a rooted version.
Personally Samsung is a different animal then what I'm use to which is HTC.
I have not used Odin for the PC at all..I've only used mobile Odin pro from the market or cmw.

Yeah I know that is true I have only rooted one cell in my life and it was one click job, simple! This seems to be a lot more technical but I will figure it out. I have rooted many tablets though right now I have a Asus Transformer Prime, HP Touchpad, ZTE Warp-Phone, Nook Color all rooted. In the past I've rooted plenty other tabs but just one phone and it was with one mouse click, and done.
When you first get into something new its like **** man this is crazy, then after about a week it gets easier. I hope that is the case with this phone. So why not ever do an over the air update? So I need to uncheck this RIGHT NOW So if the original ICS comes out don't do it over the air? Wait and do it another way correct? My phone already did one first boot, it was already check marked to download and install updates in the settings when I turned it on it did an update. I really didn't even have time to see what it was but it was a small minor update I think so. I used the settings for straight talk from here in the thread and I get around 3-5 MB down but have only tried it like 5 times in my basement.
The weird thing is that it thinks I'm in Kansas or something because speedtest.net app says finding the closest server and it finds one in Kansas and says I'm like 30klm away from the server and its the closest one? Anyone know why this is, or WTF is going on? I gave them my correct ZIP when I ordered the ST Sim Card. Most of the time it stays on HSDPA mode but I never see where it says who my carrier is, edit I see it says HOME I guess that's my carrier? so far that Ive noticed. I don't understand the location issue. maybe I should set up my GPS I don't like it on if I don't need it.
How do you avoid from them catching on or saying I'm using too much data, I know to use WiFi whenever possible, that's a given, but what else do you guys do? Don't unlimited mean unlimited? I mean if I bought a straight talk phone and watched you-tube all day can they really say anything, its unlimited right or at least suppose to be. Anyways any tips on keeping straight talk out of my business, and off my @ss would be appreciated. Thanks
Any other tips are welcome I got two cases coming their TPU style cases which I prefer but I might have to put this in a wallet type case also? But I got super slim TPU style cases so it don't get much bigger I don't want to really add more bulk to it its getting hot outside, time for shorts, and that means no jacket pocket, I wear mostly loose fitting jeans/shorts nylon sports type. so I should be alright. Do I need a screen protector I saw one that strengthens it suppose to anyways. Alright enough questions I just don't want to ruin a $650 phone I just got, that's all.

you never do OTA updates because you will lose root and possibly the exploit that gave you root has been patched so you may be stuck without root..
The latest stuff will always be available very soon after its released so don't worry.
You're on prepaid so it will show Home as your carrier even though you're on AT&T and thats what you're on if you have a AT&T sim.
I would imagine if you use too much data they would throttle you instead of cut you off...that appears to be what at&t likes to do..I am almost always on wifi so its no biggy..
I would consider ICS ROM's advanaced so if this is new I would stick with gingerbread for the time being.
I'm used to ICS on my Transformer prime and I got it on my HP Touchpad, using CWM clearing old data caches and data etc. Then install my new rom so I don't think ICS would be that new to me. Is that what you are referring too. Or something else specific?
The question I have is that wont OTA Rootkeeper work while doing over the air updates, I use it for everything almost?
