I got an HTC Legend that is branded to Vodafone. Trying to debrand it and following the Unlockr instructions--but the first thing to do is to set up android adb and load the windows drivers. I found the Windows drivers it did not work. I then found online a guy with advice on the two lines you need to add to the inf file--but it still does not work. I am on windows XP and getting frustrated because it looked like it copied over some driver files but it still is not recognizing the Legend.
Next I tried it on a mac but could not even find the USB drivers for mac. Google has now separated the inf file from the adb download. So the phone does not install itself automatically. So when i type "ADB devices" I don't get my phone serial number. So I am stuck. Any advice on how to do it with the Legend? All suggestions gratefully accepted.
Thanks

if your trying to use the android drivers you have to add a htc legend section into the drivers .inf file when you download the android sdk run the setup and only accept the driver then edit the .inf with your legend hardware ids and then it installs perfectly, this method works on both xp and win7
driving me nuts
could you show me how to do this please?
pics would be nice.
i'm also struggling to get my legend detected by any OS (XP, 7 x64, ubuntu x86).
doesn't seam to matter what i use (htc sync 2.0.33, PDAnet, drivers from websites - i've tried them all) i just can't get them to install and recognise my legend.
the thing i find a little worrying is that linux wont even pick up my legend in disk drive mode.
Hi, if you have installed htc sync it also installs the usb drivers.
after you install, unplug usb cable from phone, reboot computer.
after computer reboot plug in usb, hardware wizard shoud find a whole heap of new devices "android phone, adb. etc... on phone go into htc sync mode, more devices should be detected too. if none of these things happen you may have a usb device conflict with other usb devices connected (I had problems with a vodadfone wireless broadband dongle conflicting with other usb devices).
I have a legend with HBOOT 1.01 and i followed a guide on here
[guide] how to root HBOOT 1.01
I followed most of the steps (I didn't restore the backed up misc_backup.img) and the only problem i had was after i downgraded from froyo i needed extra drivers which are called "android 1.0". other than that I had no real issues that a reboot of computer didn't fix.
Hope this helps
first of all, i solute all u fine chaps for doing amazing work on hd2 android.
i have a questino about adb usb drivers. i have nexus1 android on my hd2and it seems perfect apart from the fact that everything installs on internal mem and not my sd card. i read a thread about how to go around it by downloading android dev sdk and usb drivers and use some commands to change default install location. keeping it simple, i have installed the sdk but usb drivers have made me pull my hair out all night. i have tried forcing drivers, reinstalled usb mass storage drivers, plugged in - out usb countless times, u name it but the error windows give me is failed because adb composite service is either disabled or not running plus when i do adb devices, it starts the demon but doesnt give device id. in device manager it shows yellow triangle on adb.
i have win vista 32bit.
plz someone help me or i will be a bald man soon getting stressed out...
thanks chaps...
Anyone,,,,?
Still unable to do it, spent 5 hours last night but no results. Feels like ADB USB drivers have something against me..lol
i had huge problems with drivers too and windows 7 64. Try your drivers on another computer with same os, I was surprised it worked. After hours of threads reading I finished by making a mistake with usbdeview and corrupt some usb files -> format
After that I found that changing of android rom helped a lot too. Now all its working perfectly, I hope you will find a less painful solution ...
i have never had any problems with windows vista at all now that i have a new pc it just wont work i installed the 64x drivers on my 64x pc and all i get is installing device driver software. samsung android usb composite device ready to use. cdc abstract control model (acm) installing driver software. s3c6410 android adb installing software. usb mass storage device ready to use and android ums disk usb device ready to use. i waited for ever and its just stuck there i changed from one usb port to another some ports recognize it some did not. if it does it goes threw the same process of installing device driver software and some times give me a fail on cdc abstract controls model (acm) i also downloaded the 32 bit and no budge there. i restarted my pc and all also. i been at this for days just need some help searched the forum and the search results did not help thanks.
thanks guys 19 views and no responce
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. I had problems getting my epic to show on my pc as well. For me, it wasn't the dr4ivers, but the fact I had it plugged into a usb hub. Try plugging it in a main usb port on the back of your case... these are usually the ones for your keyboard/mouse.

I haven't been able to get drivers to load at all... I have given up.
I too have a 64bit Win7 machine.
I too had the same drama for days on end..
I too read that installing PDA net will get you up and running
so..
I too am suggesting the following:
get PDA net and when it installs, select "samsung" and enjoy being able to plug your phone into your computer
I hope this helps
When booting windows hold F8 key and choose "Disable driver signature",now boot into windows and intall drivers it should work.
If not intall PdaNet tether on ur epic download drivers to ur phone for ur pc(it promts u) install them and ur good to go,dont forget to disable driver signiture and if u on win64 bit than u gotta disable it each time u boot into windows.
Hi,
I have Oppo Find 7.
Installed Omnirom and all has gone well.
Except that when I try to connect the phone to PC via USB cable with USB Debugging enabled .. I get nada ..
Nothing appears in the Portable Devices ..
Had various roms before ( Nameless, Miui etc ) never had this problem before.
Any advise/work around/Solution ?
Thanks
11/10/14 - Today I restored my color O/S using TWRP. Guess what, I had no problems connecting my Find 7 to Win 8.1 , which installed the driver immediately. But try as I might connecting using OMINIROM , no drivers are installed. Phone is not even recognized in devices. Can ANYONE advance/suggest something.
Great rom especially as it works so well with the Bluetooth so would hate to try/move to another rom.
12/10/14 - Resolved. It looks as if every time I connected the phone thew wrong driver was being installed. Check these steps if you have same problem:
- Under Devices check under "Android Devices" for any driver that you do not recognize in my case it installed "acer composite adb interface"
- I UNINSTALLED this INCLUDING delete associate files ( check option under uninstall )
- Then connected phone again
- This time it installed Google Nexus drivers
- I UNINSTALLED this with delete files option
- Disconnected and reconnected my phone
SUCCESS - It now installed "Android Composite ADB Interface"
My Find 7 now connects as storage device and can access phone from Win 8.1
Hope this helps someone else in same dilemma.

I have downloaded the proper set of shield drivers.
I have set the shield to enable developer and debugging is on.
When I connect the shield to my Win 7 PC it shows up as an unknown device.
Now when I go to the device manager and try to update my driver for said device with my disc, Windows reports that the latest driver is installed.
I've also tried to right click on the .inf file but it will not install.
It seems that my problem is that the Shield is no showing up as something other than an unknown device.
Suggestions please

Having the same issue here; windows 10 keeps forcefully installing the "generic drivers". When I try to right click and update, it says the generic drivers are the best option (they're not!). Unfortunately the generic drivers wont show up on adb devices also..
did any1 resolve this
