Revision 2.3 official release today, but while the official locked the kernel: the pink screen can not be replaced under the RECOVERY.
For the better part of successful people to upgrade, but some people experience the version 2.3 will encounter the same problem: unlimited card restart or shut down the second screen, you must double-clear before entering.
The solution is to replace the previous private RECOVERY after double clear, but now can not be replaced under the pink screen, while the previous ROOT tools must be set to open LOG after reboot once, to complete ROOT, but must be double-clear after the restart, thus causing infinite loop.
So I wrote U8800 night ROOT dedicated a key tool, simply turn USB debugging on and off quickly to turn it off R OOT.
Infinite second screen with my friends first ROOT, and then double-clear after the restart, re-entering the machine after the installation Root.Explorer, replaced again after the restart civil RECOVERY double clear. This future will not card.
Moreover, some machines need to upgrade the 2.3 data cable to connect phone and press three keys into the powder-screen to upgrade. Otherwise, only the powder into the screen does not respond.
Time to write so hasty, I have problems leave a message or add a table microblogging @ Columbia

I think that we will be able to restore it safely to previous beta 2.
And will be without locked pink screen.

hi friends I downgrade to B162 from internal storage it works for me then i had full acsess to the pink screen ccw recovery and restore my miui backup no more problems.
I think that is waste of time until the final version comes.
the most strange thing to me was that when i install V100R001C00B522G001 i had a message that there is an upgrade and i receive an update.zip 28.64 MB via wifi, never manage to upgrade it stops with an error file.
Who has updated to beta version 2 (B518) won't feel any diference beside cannot access to pinkk bootloader, i've been reading the chinese huawei forum, and the lock to the pink bootloader is to stay, all the future releases will block it, huawei says that's to low support costs, cause when costumers brick the phones had being messing around the files in /image folder and huawei has to change the motherboard of the phones, we have still access to the folder, using some apps like "root explorer", but for the "dumb client" that just want to make some calls and use youtube and gmail, that doesn't make any difference...

Can't Get Into Recovery
Hello,
I watched the video and was trying out as per instructions but I have run into a problem. I'll list down the steps
1. I successfully installed CM7 after backup as per instructions.
2. Backed up CM7 in recovery mode and wiped the cache as per instructions
3. Selected the ICS zip that I had downloaded into the SD card.
Now the phone is in a loop that just shows Samsung vibrant initial screen. I can't even get into the recovery mode when I press the volume up/down and the power button.
I thought I could used ODIN but the phone isn't even getting into the download mode when connected to USB.
Can you please help? I'm totally stuck

Success!
Yess!! I did it.
Went to bed. Couldn't sleep. Had to have it.
Installed clockwork rom manager premium and tried from within that tool and it worked.
Some things I learned.
1. The procedure in the video did not work with stock Android 2.2. Had to go back to 2.1 using odin.
2. Invest in good tools like clockwork mod.
Have had this phone for 2 years. Hated it every day and was envious of iPhone users. Cursed Android. Came to this site many times and was scared away by the loads of text.
Then I saw this video that promised nirvana in 10 mins. Took me 5 hours but learned odin and all the good stuff to be able to flash the rom.
I feel great.
And you guys are amazing!

What about flashing the latest CM7 ROM, would it be safe too?
Hey, I am having a problem with my B70 TF101 Transformer. I am not seeing any available OTA updates at all. ICS may not be out yet for me, but I don't even see the .21 update.
Here's some background, everything was fine and I was running a rooted Transformer. I installed Busybox off the market and it proceeded to remove root and make everything stop working (wireless, bluetooth, a number of other things).
I ran these steps:
Update. trippmcnealy had success with a tweak to this. If it doesn't work you might want to follow his method.
1) Download http://www.multiupload.com/X65RBVD2MB
2) Unzip so you have just have "WW_epad-user-8.6.6.19.zip". Keep this zipped and copy to root of external SD.
3) Put another copy of the same file on your external SD card and name it "EP101_SDUPDATE.zip"
4) Put both files "EP101_SDUPDATE.zip" and "WW_epad-user-8.6.6.19.zip" on the root of your internal SD card.
5) Power down your TF
6) Power up into recovery - by pressing the power button and volume down button. Then press volume up when instructed by the screen.
7) You should now see the Android guy with some gears turning. This is good, actually this is GREAT! This will go on for a minute or so and then the device will reboot on its own. It will then go to the boot screen and you should see a bar showing you the progress of the update.
8) Once it has completed, install RazorClaw and root your device.
It allowed me to recover root and I am running .19 once more. Everything currently works beautifully, except I do not have any OTA updates available.
My concerns are twofold: I used WW_epad-user-8.6.6.19.zip as suggested, however I am in the US. I am wondering if that has an impact. I am also wondering if I don't see any updates because it THINKS I have .21 already completed somehow?
Any ideas?

You do have a custom rom on your tablet, you need to get the original update 8.6.5.21(US or WW) from asus web page and flash to stock. Then you will be able to get the OTA ICS rom.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
If you currently have WW_8.6.5.21 can you flash to US_8.6.5.21 or would that cause a problem. I have not been able to find that answered for the TF101
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
I'm confused as to how I got a custom ROM without root access at the time. Following those steps again with 8.6.5.21 is what I've been trying and it never sees the update. I put the file on both the internal and external SD in the root with two files named correctly.
I am downloading these zip files right off of ASUS' support site.

Well, now that the thread derailment is over. For anyone who is reading this looking for help in a similar situation, here is what I did:
- I installed RecoveryInstaller.apk (Google'd for it) so I could get CWM on the Tablet.
- I then upgraded to 8.6.5.21 with that. I lost root (and CWM), but did not see any OTA updates.
- I sort of gave up at this point, since I assume it's past recovering without wiping my tablet AGAIN (had to wipe it when I did the upgrade which got me into this mess).
- I then found an upgrade to ICS which does not kill root, so I re-installed CWM with RecoveryInstaller and then flashed to ICS with that. I probably still won't see OTA updates, but I have CWM and root so I can just flash them manually if needed.
Not an elegant solution, but I lost no data and my Android tablet appears to be running just fine.
I have recently updated to the new jb ota (which i Iove I might add) but I'm having problems re rooting. Stupid as I am, I never temporarily unrooted with root keeper. So I updated and of coarse lost root. I am having the worst trouble rerooting. I downloaded an updated version of the su and superuser.apk and tried to replace them in motofail and it didn't work still. It just says "daemon not running. Starting it now" then the cmd promt does nothing. I even tried removing the su in system bin and tried tried to remove superuser.apk and it didn't work. I don't have too much experience using adb so if there's another way to solve this it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I'm so stuck! Thanks for your responses

If I remember correctly, if you are getting the "'com.motorola.bug2go' is unknown" part, it means you need to do a wipe (both data and cache) in recovery, and try again. That fixed it for me after I flashed. You might also need an updated version of moto2fail for JB: www dot droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/5151-root-for-droid-razr-m/
However, not sure on the other failure (INSTALL_FAILED_UID_CHANGED).

Are you guys mounting the phone as MTP? or you do get the option to mount as mass storage?
Also I am having trouble booting into recovery:
after I get the android with the open chest image with the "!", nothing happens, and no options are displayed, therefore I cant clean the cache.
How I got mine working again was replacing the su and superuser.apk files in the exploit and running the script again. Except this time, its really hard to get the bug report to work. Took me 6 tries. U need to wait for a second or third vibrate during this process. If ur phone vibrates once it will not work. As for khalilcr, I'm having the issue with recovery as well. Pressing both up and down in recovery won't work but it does if you wait like 10 seconds then try again. Try that and see if it works. Oh also I was mounted as MTP and it worked. Don't have the mass storage option available anymore.

I am downloading the updates for my RAZR M to JB right now, but trying to keep root...should I install rootkeeper or not? (By "downloading" I mean I am manually running it with the ZIP files). I have root on 4.0.4 but I am unsure of whether I should be keeping root with a rootkeeper, or trying to root it freshly once the update to JB finishes....clarification, please?
Sooo, sorry if I ask a dumb question here, but what did you replace the su and superuser.apk files with??
I also can't get into recovery...same situation. Up/down arrow and Power gets me the menu, but if I don't select "Recovery" or something real fast it will boot normally on its own. If I do manage to select Recovery, I get the red triangle out of the droid's chest image.
Any further help is much appreciated!

http://androidsu.com/superuser/ go there and download the 3.1.3 arm signed zip. They have the 2 replacement files then open up the exploit and simply replace them.

Either or will do but I did hear root keeper works but when I did it I forgot to temporarily unroot lol so try it out.

Ok, so, because bricking my phone would be disastrous, I refresh all the system apps, run the rootkeeper, run the manual update, then I should be good?

You da man! That worked. Oddly enough, I had to re-check the USB Debugging box because it somehow manage to uncheck itself. And you're right, the vol-up/power for the bug report is hard to get. For those reading this, you'll know the bug report works when you get 3 really short but fast vibrations. I had to volume down all the way a couple times.
Thanks again!

Hey Lostpilot, could you give a review of the steroids you took in rooting? Namely, the ICS you came from, were you root from there? Also, (noob question, sorry) when the whole process is finished, is any data lost? Sorry for being so noobish, I'm brand new to Android
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
Glad it worked out for ya and yes tanko that should work just fine. If not, u can always re run the exploit script and do it that way.
Sent from my XT907 using xda premium
Ummm, yeah...steroids? Not sure what you're asking! But, I was on the OTA Jellybean ROM. I was on ICS, but rooted it. Then had to un-root it to get the OTA JB ROM to work. After that, I couldn't get it to re-root. Because I did a factory reset, I lost all my apps, but I backed everything up in Titanium Backup before I started. Also did an export of my contacts to a vCard on my SD card.
Basically, I am starting over in configuring this thing...but at least I'm rooted.

Ok, I am sorry, typo; "steps" to "steroids". I'll be running the upgrade from rooted ICS to JB with rootkeeper installed, if I don't post my success in an hour, then we know what process shouldn't be taken xD

Re run the batch and see if you are getting this issue com.motorola.bug2go is unknown or UID failed. If so, perform a factory reset and follow my steps above about replacing the su and superuser.apk. you do not have to remove superuser in order for this to work because it should over write it. Worked for me. But if it doesn't work and you still want it removed u cant. It won't work in root explorer or anything like that. The only way I found to do it was by freezing it to my knowledge unless u RSD back to ICS and re flash jb.. but this method SHOULD work for you just fine. Let me know if your getting those errors

Ok, got it to work ...
Here is what I did:
Since I could not get into recovery I erased data from within the os
did not complete setup
executed motofail2go with updated files
after a few tries I finally got the second vibration
after regaining root I unrooted using supersu
tried to get into recovery to erase cashe and data but nothing so I erased data from within the os one more time
after such I finnaly got into recovery after going crazy and pressing volume up and dows for about 30 times while in the android with the ! on his chest
Phone is much better now
Hope this helps someone
Thanks for your help bud that did the trick I guess I assent holding the keys to get bug report long enough to get second vibrate and yea it did overwrite other super user apk with the new one I placed.

I gave my X to my son last year and it became extremely slow since then. It was running a version of Liquid Smooth. I was attempting to install CM11 on it following the instructions to the T, and then it became stuck, I'm stuck. I thought it already had CWM installed on it, but when it rebooted to recovery, the factory recovery came up. I formatted the system and the cache and then tried to install TWRP, it failed. I tried 2 different date factory roms and both gave me a sideload error. I even tried to flash 2.3.4.4.5.621.no.radio.sbf.zip but it also gave me a sideload error. I guess my question is where do I go from here? There's nothing on the phone at all, all I can do is boot to recovery. The usb port is dead, we use a wall charger to charge the battery.

It did have cwm installed, you needed to select recovery when in rom, by long pressing power button>reboot>recovery
I formatted the system and the cache and then tried to install TWRP, it failed.

doesn't matter if it was stock recovery, nothing will work

if usb port is dead, phone is toast, there are no more options
---------- Post added at 12:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:44 PM ----------
of course, if you haven't install moto drivers correctly, you may have misdiagnosed usb port
---------- Post added at 12:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:48 PM ----------
or a bad usb cable...
so there's no way to install a recovery from inside the factory recovery?
No, there is not

and I can't even install a stock rom either? This is so stupid.
No u
You must use RSD lite to flash stock firmware, because of locked bootloader

If installing a custom anything was possible with stock recovery, that would be the preferred way

is it an sbf or a stock rom I'm trying to flash with rsd lite? How do I know which sbf is the right one? I tried to flash 3 so far 1 passed but it still said blank, the next one failed and the 3rd one says file path too long.

if you see mem blank error try
2.3.4.4.5.621.no.radio.sbf.zip or FF-p3a_shadow_cdma_shadow-user-2.3.4-4.5.1_57_DX8-51-120111-test-keys-signed-Verizon-US.sbf.zip

usually that means rsd lite and/sbf is buried in too many folders, try placing sbf on desktop
if it ends in .sbf.zip or .sbf it's ok if any thing else needs to be uncompressed manually
and verify md5 checksums
I flashed the 605 sbf and it went through all of it and then at the end it said passed. the screen was blank but the led in the top left corner was green. I unplugged the phone and it went back to bootloader with the blank message. I'm flashing the one you mentioned above right now.
sweet, that one worked. Now to see if I can get the OTA update.

Though you wanted a custom rom?
You are just adding extra steps
you're right, I just wanted to install a custom rom. I've managed to get it rooted and cwm installed now, it's just that once I'm in cwm, there's no way to select the command I want. the volume buttons move the selection, but none of the buttons make it respond. it just takes away the text and shows the back ground image.
