I'm running Handcent SMS v3.9.8.5 on an HTC Desire Z. When I open the quick compose window the text in the "To" field is white, making it unreadable against the cream background. Is there a way of changing this?

I have the original ROM on my HD but have several problems with the threaded messaging...
1. while in the threaded messaging screen if a reply is made the text icon continues to be displayed or it is not recognised a reply has been made and on the today screen (touchFlo and normal today screen) still shows as text still not read.
2. after several text messages and returning to the threaded messaging screen it returns to old texts and I have to scroll down by pressing "newer" to get to the last text.
Has anyone else had this problem?
if you dont like threaded msg, then install hd tweak and revert back to the classical way of viewing text.
as for the icon that u have an unread msg, it's usually right, u probably have a text that is not read, look down your list, if there's no unread text, then while in msg, click on inbox, and from the drop down menu, make sure that u have no unread msgs in any other inboxes u might have.

I actually prefer threaded messaging and you misunderstand the problem I'm describing. Obviously in threaded messaging the messages are one after the other and there is no option of going into individual messages. The problem is that once a reply is made the text icon should disappear but it does not.
I was wondering if there was a way to change the sms & email screens to be white or yellow text on a black background.
How do you change the color or the bubble message when your reading old text message?
i'd like to know this too, but if you hit settings at the main thread menu then you can change the ringtone for messages.
You would probably have to root the phone to change the bubble colors. You can use Handscent that allows for customization of the bubble colors.
I have looked everywhere and was unable to find anything about the sms emoticons.
How can I get the little green alien Droid back into my text messages? I see them when I press the smile icon on the virtual keyboard, but when I press send all I see are the text version. I also only see the text version when someone sends me a text. I do use the handcent program, but they only contain the round green smiley faces. Is there anyway to be able to get that feature/option transferred from my Droid 2.2 build FRG22D to my Rooted Droid2, 2.2.20 Build VZW?
You will have to get Handcent or chompSMS from the Market to get your smiles. BUT DO NOT UNINSTALL THE "TEXT MESSAGING" APP FROM YOUR PHONE OR YOU WILL LOOSE MMS. Just set whichever of the above you get to default.
I'm using a pink/purple wallpaper and I want to change the notification number on the Messages and Mail apps from green to pink. The number that shows up on the icon to tell you how many unread messages/emails you have. Is there an easy way to do this without changing the entire theme?
