I recently grabbed one of these cheap for use in my truck as an mp3 player. All was cool till I put a 32gb micro SD card into it. It had a 16gb at first and seemed to work ok but it wasn't enough. Today while syncing it with zune, it rebooted and now won't get past the Samsung logo screen. I let it sit on that screen so long the battery died. I have tried formatting it both with and without the SD card and also tried flashing the retail ROM in download mode to restore it to 7004. Still nothing. Any help would he greatly appreciated. The thing that stings the most is that i wasted my 32gb card

Well isn't this a kick in the nuts, its working now. I plugged it in to charge it after letting it sit, left the room and now its working. Has anyone else dealt with this?
Edit: it just shut off and won't power on at all.

what brand & class SD card are you using?
what revision is your focus?
Wintech class 10. Firmware revision 2124.10.12.2. Hardware revision 3.1.0.7.
Also, the only way I can get it to boot is to plug it in while its off. Also, it says it only has 15.79mb of storage. It won't format and it won't allow me to install a fresh copy of wp7 7004 because it won't boot. Download and format mode both work but it won't boot after either.
As of today, it thinks it's a Samsung Cetus?!

I think what happened to you, happened to me
You can read my take here.
Basically all your data on the phone is screwed (but you do have a Zune backup, right?) however the phone and the card are okay (recoverable). Apps, you'll have to reinstall. Just need to reflash.
Restoring to original Rogers 7004 firmware doesn't work. It does everything it should in download mode then just locks up on the Samsung screen. I have to pull the battery, reinsert it then plug it in to usb to make it boot. And its still messed up every time. I've done it at least 15 times with no luck (with and without the SD card). Also through all of this, it isn't recognised by zune.

I had the same issue exactly (literally did same stuff with microsd and got the same results except wasn't frozen yet just no memory and useless). There was no ROM then so i took the risk of flashing the Omnia 7 ROM onto the device and now it has been frozen on the samsung logo screen for months. I have tried countless times to flash the actual Samsung focus ROM on to it since it has been released and it still freezes despite the flash seeming to work on the computer.
Anyone find a solution?
As it stands now, flashing Rogers firmware freezes at 'DSP1 Downloading... 70%' for about 30 seconds then fails.
Quick update...
Phone is currently downloading the PDA. There are two downloaders, ver. 7.05 and ver. 7.21. I have used 7.21 up until now but 7.05 is going farther.
Edit...
Still in the same shape as t was. I'm going to smash it...
have you tried contacting samsung? they fixed mine when the sim contacts broke and i bought it off CL...
it's worth a shot to see if they can fix/replace it for you...
I got mine off ebay, you think they would fix the phone (Samsung)?
It is worth a shot, in which way did you contact them? I tried to call them ages ago and had a terribly hard time getting someone on the phone, i also did the live chat online and it was uterly useless.
Has anyone resolved this issue?
I ended up sending it back. They've had it for almost 2 weeks now and I haven't heard or seen anything.

stock, stock rooted, damage, joeykrim, fresh, doesnt matter. It has happened on every single one. Just happened now when i plugged in the usb cable.
ZERO corruptions for me. Stock, unrooted, both OTA's installed.
Yeah man, it seems that there is something wrong with the usb port you're plugging your phone into. I never had a problem with it. Check your other hardware before you absolutely blame it on the phone.

NONE at all. Stock, rooted.
Just make sure you eject from your PC before unmounting your card
Just to check, you are safely removing it from your system before disconnecting your phone, correct? Not so much a problem in Windows 7, but could cause corruption if you aren't doing that.
edit: Natty_lite beat me to the punch!
One time so far, luckily I had picked up one of these:
http://www.meritline.com/microsd-memory-card-reader---p-38219.aspx
Using that, my PC was still able to read the sd card and I was able to pull all of my data off of it. Then formatted sd card on the phone, and copied data back over. Well worth the 1.85, better to be safe than sorry.
Actually got mine when it was on sale for .39 cents. At the time I didn't know if I would ever even use it, but glad that I got it now.
Zero. Using the SanDisk that came with the phone.

when in recovery (amonRA) you have the ability to mount the microSD which should be the same as using the adapter(which i have at home) but windows wouldnt even recognize it.
Replace the SD card?
0 corruptions so far for me. Both on my original 8gb and transcend 16gb.

Try that and see what happens. You got nothing to lose. I will reply on other thread if success or failure. I think it might be poor design of the SD card area. Other older designs didn't give me any problems in the past.

do you guys think if i apply a manual non-rooted update it would fix the problem?
if yes, where can i get a link to download this?
RUU
You should try running any of the stock RUU's; maybe even the most recent one (although I make no warranty; and this is at your risk). Perhaps your reboot loop is a heat related issue due to a faulty radio which is working too hard.
http://www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Incredible/
has the RUU's although it is not clear as to how long.
I am on my 2nd incredible; first one overheated and would then would do a 4-13 white screen / black screen / white screen / ... until it would move on.

Welp
While it may not help you, it can't hurt to say. I was having huge reboot issues ... highest number was 13 initial white screen / black screen cycles. I could also NEVER get into Recovery (I could get into HBOOT but when I chose recovery, it would do TWO reboots, the second being full). A battery pull was usually needed.
However, the one thing that allowed me into recovery, etc., was to let the phone charge overnight to 100% and let it be. In the morning, the phone was charged and cool. At that point, I could easily get into recovery, start up, etc.
While I am sure you have tried this; just wanted to note to make sure your phone is cool and you did a battery pull for at least 10 minutes.
I too have this issue
I also have a stock incredible that I bought second hand, which when i bought it, I checked to make sure the device was ok. When I activated it like 2 minutes later it entered a reboot loop. I thought it might be a botched PRL so I went to the Verizon Rep (I met the seller at vz store) and he performed a forced activation. It continued the reboot loop so I took it home. I noticed that if I was outside or near a window, the phone would act normally. I used this discovery to root it and install a recovery. I flashed a few kernel/rom/radio combinations including stock rooted but there was no luck. I flashed back to RUU and it continued to reboot loop. The next day I reversed the activation back to my Eris. 20 minutes later the phone is perfect. I reactivated the device and it commenced rebooting immediately. I took it back to the store and they noted the same behavior. I'm pretty sure it's a faulty radio but since it wasn't activated on the original # they couldn't warranty it. They did tell me if the original owner activates it, they will warranty it so were gonna do that. I hope nobody else has this issue, but if you have this problem, try RUU, and if that doesnt fix it, it's likely hardware failure
Ok this is what happened, my first i9000m I played around with a lot of roms, perfecting, upgrading, everything was perfect, I know what I am doing when it comes to flashing, etc.
I am almost 90% sure the problem started when my internal sd card started causing problems. I got random restarts, files missing, weird and random fc's, so I used clockwork to backup, and i was also copying files from my internal sd, to my external.
I had insanity installed, and I think just upgraded to GB, or it was around time when 2.3.3 started coming out, I rebooted to recovery, and int sd said didn't exist, or could not mount, something like that
I tried a lot of methods listed online, using odin I flashed a stock jvb using odin, it finished successfully, rebooted, and recovery came up and did the usual upgrading, etc, but it would not go through due to int sd problem.
I tried a bunch of stuff, then one night I let my (not so smart) friend look to see what I was up to, he ended up using odin to flash a custom VIBRANT rom, usually my phone starts with animated i9000m screensaver galaxy s, but this said samsung vibrant, anyway I was angry, the phone rebooted, now it will not power on, or do anything at all.
Also, before the wrong rom was flashed, I bought a 301k resistor jig from ebay to force in to download mode, that worked great until after the incorrect rom was flashed.
After this I was VERY angry, so angry I went out and bought a new i9000m, haha
My Galaxy S fetish has been restored, and my phone works great.
So... here is what I have been thinking, and reason I posted this thread...
I have ead about jtag's, etc and wondering is there anything I can do to fix my broken i9000, especially seeing how I have a working phone exact same model here with me as well.
So can anyone out there give me idea's, etc... anything??!
Thanks in advance for reading this!
I also wanted to add...
A few months ago I bought a SIM card reader/writer/cloner
-USB to RS232 adapter
-Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 chip.
-Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port
Maybe I can make my own uart?

You have two options; One. Follow this guide here. Or, go to sprint and tell them what happened and they should do odin flash it for you =)
Similar thing happened to my wife's Epic 4G yesterday morning. Instead of the stuck logo there was a bunch of error messages and finally I realized that there was some kind of backup program running. It was frozen and since I'm not up on Samsung I took it to the nearby Sprint service center. They futzed around with it for about an hour and said they had tried everything and there was nothing they could do since it was rooted - it was bricked and I should buy a new phone.
Not so fast Kimosabe!
I looked closer and figured out that the stuff I was looking at was a menu that could be scrolled with the volume keys and selected with the power button. That got it to reboot to the Samsung logo and no amount of battery removal or other manipulation would change that. So, off I went to another Sprint Repair facility a little further away. Success! After about 90 minutes they had it working with 2.3.5 loaded and my wife is very happy, the way wives should be.
I haven't checked but I doubt it's rooted anymore which is fine as she doesn't need any of the extended functions rooting offers anyway.

Same thing happened to my wifes Epic. It was stocked but rooted. Same as described in the first post. She got the text or message that her upgrade was ready, but after following the steps, her phone said it was up to date. After powering it off and then back on, it wouldn't get past the Samsung screen.
I tried everything. It wouldn't boot to recovery, only download mode. I had to odin it back to EC05. Then I upgraded it manually to Gingerbread with the official update.zip. Working great.
I never got the text on my phone that my upgrade was ready. I just manually updated to Gingerbread.
BTW. Battery on both phones has never been better.
Hope you got your phone working too.

Agree with Kenny! You should odin back to stock.
I to can verify . I had just gotten a new replace 3days before the update. When the update came out I ran it and bam stuck at the sammy screen . I tried to odin and that wouldn't even work . So took it to sprint service center and they said it was a no go for them . Would have to be replaced would even go to download . Called sprint and *****ed up a storm . They over nighted me another phone . 2 phone in 1 week. Pretty sure they hate me now but screw it . This was in no way user error . I've been seeing a few other case of similar issue.
On a side note . I've found that the best way to odin if it won't go into dl is by removing battery and sd plug in to usb with odin up and then press 1 and power button at the same time . But I think it only works on soft bricks in this case it might work not sure but worth a try.
