Hi All - anyone have any idea as to why my pda and gps connection switches off after 2 mins exactly? I'm trying to establish a connection that doesn't drop its signal. The pda ( Acer N310 ) and GPS (Holux slim 236) establishes connection fine and with good signal but doesn't last more than the specified time of 2 mins! I'm trying to run memory map software. I've checked and unchecked the GPS settings tab for 'Manage Automatically', tried the hardware settings (in the external GPA tab) from Com 0 - 9 for the different baud rates all with the same result. What am I doing wrong? I've tried different Roms and WM5 and 6!
Well, the problem is: i have wireless at home, and 3g as usual - not in home...
I DON'T want to go every time a came in home and change settings - default connection etc
If i use - even wireless connected, it still connects to edge... i.e BAD
I think that almost any of us encountered this problem...
Damn! The whole thing was to put that my WIRELESS CONNECTION i.e each network - connects to internet...
I was setting - work...
Damn Ms with those WinMo...
Hello,
I just switched over to the mytouch 4G from the nokia E-71 and for the most part I couldn't be happier.
There is one thing my E-71 did which was much smarter and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to do this with the mytouch 4g and/or if this has changed in gingerbread.
If turn on wifi via settings -> network -> wifi, I can see that
tt first shows the Wifi network I used previously,
then it does a full scan for new networks (this takes the most time),
and then it ignores the results and connects to the previous connection.
The full connect process takes 52 seconds.
On my E-71, it first tries to use the network I used previously.
and bang, it's done almost instantly. It doesn't do the scan unless I request it.
This makes a big difference if I just want to toggle on wifi for a second to check my e-mail. By default I have wifi off so it's not draining the battery.
Is there a way to get e-71ish behavior?

I use an application called Xiaalive to listen to a Shoutcast stream.
When my Display timesout it shuts down my WiFi or data connection. Primarily, I would like to use this app with my Data connection.
If I set the display timeout to 10 minutes, the app will stream for 10 minutes. If the screen timesout, it stops. I open the display back up, it fires up the data connection and the stream starts again.
Anyway to make this particular app able to maintain it's data connection even when the screen goes dark?
You should check your wlan standby settings...

I've never seen the settings you are talking about. Where are they?
Actually the 3G/4G is where the biggest issue is at.
Wlan settings-> press left menu button -> advanced settings -> wlan standby settings
Changing from wlan to 3G may result in an ip number change. All open connections will interrupt.
On my wife's and my own Galaxy s4 running FreeGS4 v2.0 ROM - the hotspot works via menu, I have a toggle widget for it that works too. I can connect up with multiple devices to either phone...
But neither phone will allow more than 2 devices to connect at any one time.
I went into the LAN settings to confirm settings are correct - and they are, DHCP is active and allow up to 100 connects - this was default, i tried lower and lower numbers, all the way down to 8, but neither phone will allow more than 2 connections at the same time.
I tried to toggled airplane mode on and off, I've tried rebooting. I've tried manually entering the settings.
I'm starting to worry that it is a flaw in the ROM itself, but a friend of mine who also has the same phone and ROM as I do claims he can connect more than 2. So I'm not sure but I am at hair pulling out stage at this point.
Anyone have any ideas?
edit - search works! I found the solution, and I feel 3% more stupid for somehow missing it earlier

go to settings - hotspot - "press on configure->show advanced options->maximum connections" Thanks
Click on configure hotspot and page down in the pop up menu that appears. Click the box that says show advanced options and then set the maximum connections you want to allow. You can also set 2.4ghz or 5.0ghz in this menu.
