[GUIDE]Minecraft, PORTED TO OTHER PHONES! [85%] - Android Software Development

Step by step guide, to get Minecraft play (almost) correctly!*ROOT*Tested on my Mac, 100% sure works on Linux, should also work on Windows
Find & Download Minecraft
Buy Virtual Trackball
Set it up, but use "D-pad", not "Trackball"
Now you can move!
Let's make put/destroy work.
Conect phone to computer
Code:
adb shell
ls system/usr/keylayout/
exit
You should recognize your own keycode file. On HTC Desire, it is bravo-keypad.kl
Code:
adb pull system/usr/keylayout/[KEYCODE_FILE_HERE] [KEYCODE_FILE_HERE] (Yes, 2 times)
Backup the file
Open the file
We'll use the volume keys to put/remove
Change "key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE" in "key 115 BUTTON_R1" and "key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE" in "key 114 BUTTON_L1"
Save
Code:
adb push [KEYCODE_FILE_HERE] /system/usr/keylayout
Hot reboot
Now you can put/destroy using volume keys!
If you want to restore the functionality, just push back the backed up file.

Edit: Stupid me, I didn't realize that Mojang released Minecraft for the Xperia play. Just ignore what I said.

This thread might be useful:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227365
Touch pad on our phone is actually Synaptics touchpad with very accurate and precise two fingers support.

Thanks for posting the thread. I'm running into an issue. Every time I open minecraft the virtual dpad disappears, making this useless. Anybody else encounter this? I'm on a galaxy s.
Edit: I ran V6 supercharger script and set it to multitasking and the dpad is staying. Minecraft manages to crash after about 30 seconds each time I play it though. Not exactly crash, but gets stuck in a little glitchy loop and I can't do anything.

Ok, thanks! Reading it now...

Is there a place you found out that's its a known issue? Some place I could check back to see if there has been a workaround or anything?
I think i'll go back to trying to play df on my phone for a while till the official mc release haha.

There is a big problem here - step 1 "Buy Minecraft." Minecraft isn't available to phones other than the Play and cannot be bought or seen in the Market. Are you suggesting editing build.prop or am I missing something?

I suggest you pirate them since they're not supporting us!!!!
Lol joke. Yes, how did you guys bought the game?

Can anyone map it to the Desire Z, WASD keyboard buttons, and the track pad to aim?

How can we get it so we can use the touch screen to aim? like in this video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pNe3hBlKfg

I have a few problems, when I edit the key and reboot, go into minecraft, and press either key while next to a tree, it does nothing...

Hi all, I am using Gingerbread 2.3.3 now and the gameboid refuse to work. When I tried to upload a ROM, then suddenly it stopped functioning. It worked perfectly fine when I use Froyo 2.2.1. Can someone help me? or do I need to downgrade it to Froyo just for Gameboid.

Can you disable the touchscreen?

Here's the scenario: My 5 year old daughter wants to watch a movie on my Hero. I bring up Madagascar 2 and hand her the phone. 2 minutes later she says the movie stopped because she accidentally touched or swiped the screen.
Is there a way to disable the touchscreen so that whatever program is active doesn't get interrupted? Maybe something like Proximity Sensor, but without having to use the sensor. Or some type of key button combination like Home+Search+Volume Down.
is this a serious question? no you cannot disable the touchscreen.

Yes, it's a serious question. I saw this posted in a WinMo forum:
"If it's a custom app you could get the app to set the sensitivity of the screen in the registry to zero. That should do it. I've not been able to find anything existing though. Not even on Codeproject, which usually has unusual stuff like that. I suspect the Compact Framework doesn't support it so the registry is your best bet."
I'm sure it's possible...just out of my realm. Hell, if someone can make the End Call button disappear to avoid Face Hang Ups, I'm sure someone else could make this happen.

android doesn't have a registry like winmo, ive never heard of anybody being able to disable the touchscreen, nor want to do it in the first place. sorry....
Good idea, but would probably be most practical to have built into a video player app. An Android VLC player would make my year...maybe after DIVX starts hitting more Android handsets this year more versatile players will show up.
the problem with media players is the have to run in a java VM instead of nativley.

Android has a Native development kit available so you can run native C++ code. There is a topic over at the VLC site talking about getting someone to do this - but its REALLY difficult to do it. I thought about it, but I have 0 experience with Media software.
It's my understanding the NDK is a joke a this point. The guys at Coreplayer have been trying to get a full functioning media player for months.

Probably going to have to end up doing what I did with my kid: Tell her if she touches the phone the movie will end...then take it away for the day. Try again the next day. After a day or two she'll get the point. We also found a good spot on a table and in the car to set the phone and told the rugrat not to touch it if he wanted to see the movie. My kid's 8, so that worked. Not sure if you'll have the same results.
Not quite what you're looking I know, but...probably the best you'll get: Train the kid to leave it alone

That is the only way I see it as possible. Android has several running levels for programs. I don't think it is possible for a backgrounded app to take over any functionality of the touchscreen.
Someone would have to write a custom player that doesn't respond to the screen.
For example there is a toddler game app (can't remember the name) that you can only exit by touching a combination of points on the screen. Writing this idea into a kid's player would be a cool app idea.

NOVA 2 just wont work! HELP!!!

Hi all, i've been all over the internet including the gameloft forums and cant find a fix.
Gameloft support are useless, every time i ask a question they send a free game (yes i'm complaining), without an answer.
I want NOVA 2 to work.
The game crashes after the intro video, i see a loading logo music starts then it just closes, not warning error or nothing.
Is it just my Xperia Play? i know other people have had this problem but its seems to be small majority.
I'm in the UK.
I have a sim free Xperia play with a T Mobile contract.
I have Version 1.0.2 of NOVA 2.
2.3.3 Android
I am not rooted or unlocked.
All my other gameloft games work fine.
Could it be another app causing the problem?
Any advice or help would be great, i am going slightly mad with this problem.
Blonqe.
Play another game
Works ok for me.
The look control sucks anyway. What the hell? We have to slide it like a track ball. That sucks badly when some is shooting you in the back.

Yep. Gameloft need to sort the look controls to work like a control pad and not a touchscreen for all their fps games.
@OP Downgrade to 2.3.2 and all Gameloft games work fine.
Not true, I bought it first day of release and back then I was still on 2.3.2. Same problem as I still have today!
Ok.
Solution then -
When you see nothing but black screen, hold down the home key and then select Nova 2.
Or hit the home key to go to home, then hold the home key and select Nova 2.
Gameloft black screens are fixed simply by reselecting the game without actually exiting it.
Rainbow 6 is a good game

Solution to back button defect!

I found a solution to the problem where pressing the back button once triggers it multiple times occasionally!
it's more of a work around. What I will show you how to do is re-mapping the search key to go back. If you find use out of your search key (I don't) then this is not for you. But now phones some phones are dropping the search key anyways!
First, get a file explorer with root access.
Next, navigate to /system/usr/keylayout and open up keypad-pmic-zeus.kl with a text editor.
Change where it says SEARCH to BACK (I don't know if it is case sensitive)
Reboot!
Now pressing search with go back!

ask FXP to look at what sony changed in the new update, maybe he can find a solution to it with cyanogen
I recently updated officially via PC companion to 2.3.4 and can confirm that the back button pressing multiple times seems to have been fixed.
Although now I am back to having the problem where my screen will activate other parts of the screen and generally spaz out on me.
edit - @Andro
I have no proof, just a suspision, but i have the feeling that the back button fault is actually a hardware defect that they have patched up via a software fix.
Same here, update 2.3.4 finally fix this problem!!

I haven't even figured out how to get the app to come up when I have a game loaded. The 3 button command list seems to need you to have already brought it up once in that app.
If someone can explain how to do that I'd gladly spend some time messing with it.

yeah thats where i'm having my issue
Dev told me I could create a custom command using OUYA buttons, but I couldn't figure it out. He is working really hard on the app and has frequent updates, but no tutorials or help pages. He needs to take a break and show people how to use it a little more clearly. I spent an afternoon working with it and gave up.
I think it would probably work best to do the button mapping on a touch screen device and export it. It will probably still need to be tweaked on OUYA though. I have seen people take interest in the app on other forums only to be frustrated and give up.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I am trying to figure it out too. I want to put games like subway suffers and temple on the Ouya for my daughter. Tried setting up a profile on my galaxy tab, and it works, sometimes. I can get left to go left once, but then the other buttons, like going right or jumping/sliding doesn't work for a few seconds. Makes it very hard to use.
I had to watch a few YouTube videos before figuring out that you have to name the profile first, then hit refresh a few times, then press a button on your controller to make it appear on the screen. After that you can select what you want it to do. Can't figure out how to make it do a store command though.
I tried making a profile for final fantasy iii as well, but once I hit a fiction, it stayed pursuing that direction after I let go. I think maybe I just haven't found the right option yet.
I see it has an update in the play store, so maybe I will try again.

I have spent a few hours :crying: on this and I seem to be having some success. I have found when configuring stick 0 or stick 1 on the ouya controller, I have to check the box that swaps the X and Y axis along with checking the box to invert the x axis. I have attached a profile for minecraft that seems to be working. Feel free to give it a try (remove the .txt extension when importing).
The developer is flying blind developing for OUYA. He doesn't think he'll recoup his cost in sales to OUYA users. I'm at a loss for why anyone would buy the app right now.
Another thing I'm remembering that really aggravated me when trying the app. It took me quite some time to learn that when configuring the controls you have to click the check mark to register every change.
If someone could create a default controller scheme for the sticks and d-pad, and the home, menu, and back buttons it would be great so we all could build on that. If everyone maps those most basic buttons the same, it will make sharing profiles easier. Then there is the matter of enabling keymapper in game.
If this thread starts generating enough interest the dev will probably pop in for a visit. Then perhaps he can code in a shortcut combo for the controller to open the app in game.

The app was free in the play store when I downloaded it. There is an option to support the dev though a donation which unlocks a couple of features, but the free version supports the features I need. I have been able to map games from the play store once I found out how to use the keymapper. The auto load profile is pretty sweet when it works... I may end up with a profile for every non ouya game and launcher that I installed from the play store ((Netfix and WatchESPN). IMHO using any non ouya app with the ouya controller sucks.

The important feature that is, or was, locked in the free version is analog stick support. For whatever reason in games that natively support the analog stick but nothing else ,Tincore overrides that and then you need to pay to enable it within Tincore in order to map the buttons and use the stick. Since I'm primarily interested in driving and racing game support, that makes it a no go for me until I have a clear understanding of how to map the controls and enable it on OUYA without spending a lot of time and doing workarounds.

Do i just load this up in load profile and then go into minecraft and it will work? I don't play minecraft but I'm wondering if it's that easy.
Almost forgot as for the dev saying that he won't be able to recoup his losses I don't get that. I'm all about supporting a dev but if I supported every dev that had a half working app that I would like to play then I'd be broke. If he makes a paid app with instructions and works on some games I'm all about it

As others have said, one of the major difficulties with Tincore on OUYA is that you need to launch it within game. The apps shortcuts are created for phones our tablets.

Launch the app and import the profile. Once it loads you should see the button layout on the screen and the minecore profile name at the top of the tincore options. From there just click the check mark beside the profile name and the app should be sent to the background. If you close the app with the "X" at the top, the tincore app will not be running and your controller will default back to the standard ouya layout. Next open minecraft and use the touch pad to click play and to create a world. Once the game loads up, you use the control sticks to move/look around.
At first I had a USB keyboard connected to the ouya and to launch keymapper when in a game I would use the vol down/vol up/vol down shortcut to bring up the tincore app. After getting a couple of games working and building a profile for Nova Launcher, I went into tincore settings and changed the shortcut to lunch the app from the default vol keys on the keyboard to buttons o/u/y on the ouya controller and I am able to make changes to the tincore app without the keyboard being connected.
It is late and I rambled on long enough... let me know if you get stuck. Once I figured out the basics of the app it has been easy to configure new button layouts.
besides tincore, anyone try using any other touch to gamepad app like gamekeyboard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fishstix.gameboard&hl=en) and sixaxis? Tincore is a pain to use with the vague instructions & videos. I'd like to know what kind of success people have had mapping touch controls to a gamepad and on what app.
Hi,
It is soo difficult to find threads lost in different forums.
If people gather in one place we could organize a wiki or something.
I would like to know what do you find difficult to understand. Once you understand the pattern it is all the same I think.
To invoke the app without notification you need to set "Open mapper on sequence". It is a sequence of 3 keys (the 3 can be the same).
select -> select -> select for instance because Ouya does not have volume buttons. If you have a spare button you can set execute function and then on Key you select MAPPER.

Your Wiki appears to be down. When I set the sequence while running from the home screen, I can bring it up from the home screen, however the key sequence does not work once I open any app other than the home screen. What's the trick?

Here are a few hints I have found... Make sure auto profile is disabled. Also, when you launch the app from the home screen, use the key sequence that is setup to minimize the app (don't click the check mark or the X to minimize tincore. Once you launch another app you should be able to use the key sequence again to bring tincore back up.
