I have a rooted, unlocked bootlader, verizon xperia play. I keep getting a message that there is an update, and that it will begin automatically unless I hit no. I've been hitting no over and over, but every few hours it pops up.
Is there a way I can block this update?
or
Is it ok for me to update leaving the bootloader unlocked?
Its a pain, as I caught it about to update with like 10 seconds to go.
I am on Android 2.3.2
kernel version 2.6.32.9-perf
UPDATE
Now I went to the update manually and it said there is no update. WTF am I getting this pop up for?

Everyone gets this update both randomly, and on boot up. But there is never a real update.

After updating my Omnia 7 to Nodo I got another update notification about a "Samsung Update".
When I try to install it it hangs at step 6 of 10: rebooting your phone (the phone shows the omnia logo but doesn't boot).
Was anybody able to install this update? What does it do?
You say you updated to NoDo...how? Did you receive a notification or use one of the tricks to get the update? Not had anything myself. Also how long after the NoDo update did you get the other update, was it via Zune or a phone notification.
Sounds interesting given the odd display I've now got, wondering if we have some updated drivers on the way.

I forced the update (via Hungary) but got the new notification as soon as I connected the phone to Zune (it also shows up on the phone).
There is a 'more information' link on the first page but sadly it does not give more information.
Getting the same update after NoDo. Doesn't update though, stuck at rebooting just like you. Weird..
Didn't get my update via Hungary BTW, just the regular way (A1 branded).
Hmmm this is worrying. I assume there were no problems after this update failed?

No, I don't think anything happened yet. The PC is waiting for the phone to reboot, and the phone is stuck on boot..
How long did you leave it?
Not sure, 30-45 mins maybe the first time. The second time I tried just a couple of minutes. It said the update would take 32 mins, but since it just said rebooting and not updating I reckoned the process hadn't even started yet.

You just unplugged it then and it carried on workig OK?
That sounds about right, when i did pre-nodo the reboot took about a minute or so of displaying the Omnia logo then went to the pc plug screen whilst it updated.
I did read about device specific updates, seems odd though as some people are saying that they updated to NoDo and it works fine and had no future updates.

Unplugged it and had to take the battery out to reboot. Notice how it says 'Samsung update for Windows Phone' though. I'll try one more time. My phone bugged me a couple of times about the update as well ('An Update is available').
I wonder if this is a firmware update?
Edit - Looks like it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12516155&postcount=56
Yeah, guessed so. Still not working for me though. Waited for about an hour for it to reboot.
My mistake - Edited
Can i know which firmware version do you have on your Omnia 7? I got a JK1 and i haven't recieved this kind of update
PS
To view firmware version go in phone then open the numeric pad and call ##634# to enter diagnosis then type these combination: *#1234#
For me:
PDA: ends with JID
Phone: ends with JIC
CSC: ends with JID
Curious to see what Cheekbone has as its trying to update it
All end with JJ6
Well I guess the majority is already on JK1, so the samsung update only pops up for some.
It would be great if there would be further samsung firmware updates before major MSFT ones.
It does seem that JK1 is the norm. I guess it means I will be offered the further update...
Worrying!
Hey mine says
JID
JIC
JID
is this old? Is there any point to updating the firmware? Zune gives me no update. but i have been wondering about my FW Version for some time.
Any help is appreciated.

Have you updated to Pre-NoDo (.7008) or NoDo (.7390) ?
Hi, I recently got a Razr M with JB 4.12 98.18.94 stock ROM. Yesterday in the morning I recieved a prompt message to update to KK 182.46.10, but I dont want to take it because of all users complaining about the update so I click later to remember me in 12 hours. In the night I forgot to disable wifi and I saw it began to start downloading the update (0%), so I disabled wifi to stop it.
My questions are:
1. Can I reset the phone to factory no matter it starts to download the update? (Just to avoid the update and start all over again)
2. How do I know if it has the bootloader unlocked?
Thanks in advance

1. Yes. Downloading the update is not the same as installing the update. Your phone will just nag you every 12 hours about the update. Factory resetting at this point will remove the downloaded update, but it will eventually download again.
2. Turn your phone off, hold the volume up, volume down and power buttons all at once. Choose AP Fastboot by using the volume down button to move the cursor down and then the volume up button to select. If it says device locked, your bootloader is locked and there's nothing you can do to unlock it given the software version you're already using. Press the power button again to turn the device off. More information about this process is readily available elsewhere on this forum.

It shouldnt flash the update unless you tell it to, it will download it though.
Put the phone in fastboot mode and see if it says locked/unlocked. phone off, vol down+ power to enter
Other than doing a factory restore, is there a way to delete the downloaded update? I forgot to delay it this morning it downloaded, but hasn't installed yet.
I REALLY don't want to go to KitKat yet.
Downgrade
I would like to add a question. Is there already an instruction how to downgrade from KK to JB?

pretty sure if you took the update and were completely stock while updating there is no way to return to jb
Thanks for your answers :good:
I get this at each power off/on boot
"Your device software can't be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader." (Orange)
Already read https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6185381?p=verified_boot&rd=1
Not sure if this impacts the phone receiving beta updates, I did not install Android N, it was shipped to me in that mode and I simply used a gmail account to logon to accept beta thinking that is all I need to receive updates.
The message itself does not bother me, phone boots up and runs fine.
It shipped with the bootloader unlocked?. Have you tried downloading and flashing the beta with the bootloader unlocked? In my experience, the only time an unlocked bootloader stopped me from getting anything was when I had to update the HTC Thunderbolt back in the day. You should be totally fine with an unlocked bootloader when getting the beta upgrade.

You will continue to receive any and all updates. The unlocked bootloader is nothing to worry about. The OTA updates will be officially useless, only if you have made changes to the /system parition, like rooting or tweaks, etc.
Although, I am also curious. Where did you buy your 6P? And, did it come unlocked?
Did not buy the phone, it was sent to me by Google, unlocked.

Giveaway or something? Sorry, I still not get it.
Hello - I have the prime edition of the Moto but used rootjunkie's RSDLite method to put the non-Amazon version on (build number MPJ24.139-49)
My channel is still set to "amz" and the bootloader is locked. Today I started receiving a message about OTA to the new version of MPJ24.139-64.
Is it safe to install (I've seen others having issues but it looked like they have an unlocked bootloader)? How do I know if this is the Motorola version or the Amazon version (I do not want the ads back)?
I am in the same situation too. I have a locked bootloader and flashed the retail version using RSDLite. I'm on build number MPJ24.139-49. The software channel on my phone is "amz". This evening I also got a message about the OTA update to build MPJ24.139-64. Has anyone in this situation done the update?

I was in the same situation, updated and got the ads and Amazon apps back. Tryed to remove them and my Moto was stuck in fastboot mode until I managed to fix it. If you don't want the ads back don't update

Yeah, I can confirm the update puts back all of the Amazon stuff back on the phone. I was looking for a way to get back into the Amazon apps anyways so that I could get the future updates.

How did you apply the update, get rid of them and get back to normal? I've unlocked the bootloader and installed the systemless root, which I want to keep but I also don't want to skip security updates.

I guess I'll hold off then. Thanks.
What are the options moving forward?
1) Is it possible to disable the device from continuously prompting to update? I went to Google Play Services and disabled notifications but that does not stop the system from prompting open the system update app and asking if I would like to update.
2) Can i install the non-Amazon version of the 64 ROM (I'm having difficulty understanding if this works on other threads)? If so, would that stop the device from hounding for system update (until the next release)?

Same problem here. Have turned of notifications in Motorola Update services but it has not stopped them. Tried renaming the Motorola OTA update app in / system but unable to due to no root. Do not want the ads but i don't want to be hounded to update either. I guess i will wait another week to see if they stop but if they don't i may take the update and then complain to Amazon about the ads being very intrusive and bright in dim lighting
I know you can't disable motorola update services but what about just blocking all notifications in the app settings for Motorola update services.
I just blocked moto notifications and will see if it works. If it does I'll report back.
Can I update to the non-prime 64 without any expected issues?
While blocking notifications did not work I was able to force disable the moto update does. This has to be done every time after reboot.
Has anyone successfully loaded the non-amazon 64 IMG on a locked Amazon xt1625?
You have to flash a blank but valid oem.img to block updates.
fastboot flash oem oem.img
I'm sure that the rootjunky website has it somewhere...
So are the updates good to go now? I did the full updates to unlock my phone after the sim card issue (Rooted as well) but i haven't gone back to it and the phone keeps asking me to update to PPR1.180905.036 and i'm just wondering if that update is good to go OTA if you've rooted your phone and done the roll back to get the sim unlock off.

36. Is fine. Just careful with Oct update. Not sure yet
backed up my data. grabbed Oct 2018 OTA from Essential's site
rebooted in recovery, sideloaded OTA
after reboot, SIM still unlocked
I can't speak for downloading the OTA from the phone itself, but the above steps worked for me
