[Q] xperia play europe system backup - Xperia Play General

hi i was wondering if anyone could give some links to the apks for all the cool features that the eur version of the xplay has, because those features were one of the main reasons i bought this phone and i was disappointed to find out that sony (being a piece of s**t) had completely stripped all of the features they bragged about from the phone (the only thing they didn't remove was the xperia play launcher app)
thanks in advance

Sony Ericsson X10 UI

I have one question in my mind since month.
Why don't we have sony ericsson X10 UI for hd2?
Can someone answer me please ?
Thanks erveryone!
Sony's UI is very proprietary and closed. Not only its drivers are completely coded from the ground up, its software is a complete mess because it's dependant of a bunch of "special sony services". I don't think it's possible to extract the Sony applications to use in other systems and if so, I wouldn't recommend it. Having owned an X10, it's a headache and a nightmare to get anything out of that phone...
Ok thanks for your answer too bad we can't use this UI

[Q] Rooting other than model R800i

I have a AT&T Xperia Play R800AT and was wondering if the R800i Root method works on the Canadian R800A model? What build are you guys on? I'm very anxious to Root mine with the R800i method but was wondering if it's build specific? Thanks!
If you try I would try the gingerbreak method as it's more universal then using a unlocked bootloader and flash some firmware.
yep gingerbreak v1.2 works great did it to mine first day i got it
Hey thatsupnow - what did you do once rooted? Are you running Cyanogen? If so, how well does it work?
I've never installed modded android before, though I've jailbroken plenty of iPhones in my day:
1) Will my purchased stuff transfer over if I purchased it before Cyanogen? (
2) Does anyone know if PS Classics work on Cyanogen?
3) Should I even bother with Cyanogen, or just root my Xperia Play and be done with it?
4) What can I do once I'm rooted that I can't do pre-root?
Total, noob, I know. Thanks for any advice!

I've come from the Apple Scene as well so I'm pretty much new to this and only flashed a couple of android devices so far.
1) Samsung Vibrant
2) Samsung Galaxy Tab
3) Flytab (generic 7" ipad 1.6 android)
Whatever you purchase in the Android Market, As long as you login using the same google account you made the purchase with previously just like iTunes you can re-download your purchases for free. You can also browse the APK folder on your device and backup your .apk files if u wish as well.
Cynogen is a custom rom that tweaks a android device with better options and customization. To my knowledge I don't think you should flash the device right now since there is no "cooked roms" specifically for the Xperia Play at the moment. The android OS is pretty much universal on lots of platforms but just like any OS it needs specific drivers built into it in order for it to talk to your device and run correctly.
Think of Windows for example, in order for your new Graphics card you bought at the store to display properly on your PC you would have to install the device drivers first in order for it to work properly. If you don't you will experience vast side effects like only 256 colors 640-680 resolution etc.
In this case Android is like windows and "fragmented" because there are lots of IBM compatible PC's in the market today each with it's own different graphics cards, cd-rom/dvd and media etc. This is why Apple IOS mobile devices can see faster updates because they only have to develop for minimal devices.
I just picked up a Dell Streak 7 from my coworker that i've been toying with. It's definitely faster than my Galaxy Tab but I'm hoping in due time Dell or a awesome DEV will port Honeycomb 3.0 onto it. Reading threads people are saying maybe looking into the Motorola Xoom will help develop for the Dell since it uses the same Tegra 2 processor but again just like the above I mentioned, it's a whole different animal besides the Tegra and needs specific drivers. Look at the Nook Color with Honeycomb. I'm amazed at how well it's working but it still needs some work to be polished.
So yeah man, just root the phone and chill for the time being. Thats what I did for the moment although I would like to change a few things. Have you tried any home launchers yet and have you found a way to switch to Edge? I'm always on 3G and it would be nice to switch to EDGE so i'll have more battery life for games.

For those thinking about buying an X2DS share your experiences.

Thinking about buying one of these??? Having always owned Nokias and hating the new Windows phone this seemed the natural replacement to my 808PV which I had stolen. So I bought one off ebay from Hong Kong, delivery was quick but came with Chinese firmware installed, including some chinese apps, so I flashed it with the latest firmware off navifirm I chose product code 059V779.
Flashing was easy using this great guide here >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2668005
Rather than immediately putting on Google Play and changing the launcher I wanted to see what the Nokia/Windows Android thing was like. Having used it for a couple of days I can honestly say, other than the fact I liked the main homescreen scrolling downwards, fastlane was pretty rubbish and needless and the app layout was not great either. Having tried multiple different launchers my favourite by far is the S Launcher, great on battery too.
I tried to continue using it without Google Play, as I read the moment Google gets on your phone all its little ram hungry processes will drain the battery, and although this may be the case a bit, having google play is way better as many apps such as banking apps here in the UK are only available through the play store. Worth it even for the small increased battery drain.
For that use the guide here works great. >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-x2/general/tool-nokia-x2-tools-1-1-rus-en-rooting-t2846570
Seems a real pity Nokia never marketed these phones much in Europe as they stand up really well to similarly priced androids, anyway I'm really happy with mine and I'd recommend it to anyone, App compatibility seems to be about 95% and its an opportunity to own something a bit unique and quirky.
If anyones got any questions feel free to ask or PM me, not seen many UK Nokia X2 owners so more than happy to share my experiences/knowledge.
I posted my screenshots up here >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-x2/themes-apps/info-post-screenshots-t2826693/post58965952#
Nokia X2 is low-quality device. But it's has got low price. Nokia X2 for Third World countries only (include East Europe and Russia).
Also today you may get better device with same price. I didn't recommended by this device

Is the yoga book worth buying in 2020

Hello there
I have been searching around to buy a tablet mostly for home use,my wife is going to be using it most of the times for some googling, emails ,pdf etc. I found a really good deal in a refurbished android version yoga book but I'm not that sure if it's worth nowadays since as I have read it only updated to android 7. Is she going to have issues with some apps like Facebook, insta, netflix?
Thank you in advance
I have this unit for 3 years now and it’s still working.
From the beginning it had problems, for example it shuts down and reboot from time to time, when you want to cast something it freezes and some apps don’t work anymore. For googling and emails I don’t have any problem.
Would I recommend a Lenovo unit? I won’t, because they never given updates or solved the software problems.
I have a yoga book and my co-worker’s have an Android pro tablet from Lenovo and they also never received a update. The hardware is good but you never get an update even not a security update. I hope it help with your decision.
Greetings

Those, probably not, but I can't get modern casual games like merge dragons to run on the stupid thing. So if she plays that kind of game, it might not be the way to go.
As i am enthusiast on modding stuff, i like my hardware open to custom stuff. While the lenovo is not closed (you can unlock the bootloader) we had a dead scene. So i would not recommend this piece of hardware. In XDA your better strategy is to search on for devices that the community is alive AKA: popular devices and brands, like Samsung or Sony. Cause even if the moto maxx was spec wise MUCH better than the Xperia Z3 on paper, we had a different story here, the xperia comunity was skyrocketing and doing great where the moto maxx was a zombie device at its best.
TL : DR If you don't need to debloat it or do anything special to it its kinda of a solid device .
