You could try clearing the data for "xperia play launcher" in settings>>applications>>>manage applications, but i doubt it takes 3mb, it is most probably some other app

phone memory full

strange problem with the phones memory being full
seems to be loading kb files on but takes up mb space, just loaded a 3.5kn file but took up 30 mb space
any help would be great
Full because you have probably installed every app onto the internal memory. Reinstall them onto the SD card.
While you are at it, read this thread for tips on how to maximise your memory space....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
Also use this..http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all if you ever need to find anything here on XDA.

il explain a bit more. i dont have a HD2 im trying to sort this for a friend, i do have the touch pro 2 and i have never had to install apps on the SD card, i must have 30/40 apps on it (games TC resco etc ) and i still have loads of space
my memory reads
storage total 283mb used 166 free 117
program total 188 used 110 free 76
i have never got anywhwere near full
my mates HD2 is new and he has added very little in terms of apps(1 or 2 at the most ) but when i got to it today it only had about 35/40 mb free
i added the 4 short cut cab instead of the standard 3 short cut tabs and it used 30 mb of memory
something does seem right with this or is it that the HD2 short of memory

have you been downloading any stuff from internet / opera browser?
The HD2 is short of memory but it shoudn't be a problem having some stuff on SD card.

The HD2's shortness of memory is only relative. It still has 145MB free Storage after a hard reset, which is a huge increase on previous generations of WinMo phone before the HD, and TD models.
It is probable that users are inadvertantly storing photos and videos in main memory rather than the SD card. Add this to the effects of the Album and Browser caches and the memory can get filled up.
C-G: There is no way that a simple tweak installation would cause this problem. Either your friend has failed to notice something else, or there is some sort of major problem with the device, or somwe software he has installed.

theres no photos videos etc taking it up, i check all that i removed shazam that it saidd was 50 mb but only freed up about 5 mb
as for the app i installed it myself on his phone and it went from 40mb free space to 11 mb free in one go very strange
You are right, it does seem strange, and unrelated to other threads on this issue.
If you (or your friend) are really adventures you could give MTTY a go. It sort of formats the internal memory. After that flash a fresh (shipped) rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=616422
Combat,
Its me again. In the thread I pointed you to it also tells you how to move the album and opera caches to storage card. Have you tried these tips?
If you do and you still have problems then backup the data on the device, do a hard reset, then on reboot, check the available memory and use that as a startpoint (compare it to the public specs to make sure you are there or thereabouts). Then reinstall all your apps onto the external storage card (not the internal memory) and see what happens.
Oh, one more thing before you do all this; install Showcase, which is a task manager, and see what programmes are running in the background that you thought were closed. These eat memory and can cause the symptoms you allude to.
Whatever you do, DON't go playing with MTTY. Its an advanced tool and you can do some serious damage if you don't know what you are doing.
I am confident that if you follow the steps here you will solve your problems.
If yo don't, return the device for an exchange.

...i had problems with internal memory, i think were problems of programs cache like htc album, opera...i tried with SKTOOLS for cleaning temporal archives and this work ok
thanks for all the help i have pointed my mate in thedirection of this thread , and once tried i will post some feedback that may help others
thanks again
Are you really sure. As wacky.banana suggested, I would return the device as faulty first.

As the others have said, there is something seriously wrong here
Shazam is actually less than 1MB in size, though saved tags may take some space.
If this is showing as 50MB and it isn't being recovered there is something drastically wrong.
still trying to sort this out yesterday my mate did a hard reset so he could start from scratch to add things and see how the memory goes
he no informs me that since the hard reset he has lost camera, keyboard functions etc dont have full details yet but this isnt normal, i hard reset my TP2 a couple of times a month flashing new roms then doing hard resets and its ok
any advice would be great
thanks

You mean version 1.48, which was what I was going to suggest but you are ahead of me here. Even if it's already on the device might be worth re-flashing.

Tell him to stop messing around and return this as a faulty device
He's now had 2 major issues with different aspects of the phone- memory allocation and now camera problems.
It is likely that there is some sort of fault with the memory chip itself leading to internal memory errors. This may also explain the other hardware issues if the device is trying to load these services into an unaddressable memory location.
Hello, I am a newbie, but one frustrating factor I've been dealing with is that there is virtually no information on the "cheaper" tablets. I have a ZEEPAD I purchased from Amazon. It is a lot of fun for a VERY small price.
However, now I have a memory problem. After resetting the tablet, it shows that my internal memory is full, even though there are NO apps installed. I cannot install anything from the market; all installs fail because the tablet detects or thinks there is no memory available.
I have an old CRUZ tablet, and I can get into the program by holding down the + volume when pressing the power button, but that does not work with this tablet.
In the "info" section of the tablet, it states that this is a TWD_MID tablet, android 4.0.4. There has to be something I can try before I have to ship this back to China. Please be understanding of my "newbie" status.......
I have the same issue with mine! Weird, wonder what the deal is? I hope someone with some knowledge of this can help us because it is an fun tab especially for the price..

To the two previous posters- this is the forum for the HTC HD2 so you won't get any relevant advice for your tablets.

Out of Space

Trying to install an apk and my phone won't let me. I get "Out of Space" App could not be viewed. Free up some space on your phone and try again and I get a button for "Manage applications" so I can delete apps. My phone storage reads
SD

5.63GB available
Internal
6.60GB total
6.32GB available
Anyone else have this happen to them?
Just in case I rebooted my phone but still have the same issue.

Not all of the internal memory can be used for applications. While the phone is advertised to have 8GB of internal memory, that 6.60GB (6.32GB avail) you see is treated like the SD card memory. Apps can't be installed on that portion.
The internal memory for applications is 748MB.

That blows. Can't wait for root so I can use apps2sd. Thanks
Really? Coming from the droid 748 is a godsend.
I agree 748mb is gift compared to the others. I just read somewhere that the Evo only will have 358mb free.
I am curious how many apps you have. Perhaps one of them is screwed up somehow?
I only have 74 apps listed in my app drawer and I have 643MB left.

Yes, something sounds wrong.
Turn it off and try again maybe? Or maybe there is something wrong with that one app you are trying to install? Or maybe something got corrupted and you need to factory reset.
I don't recall seeing that error reported elsewhere.
I dont feel like counting mine but Have a bunch plus atless 12 3-D games. Still have 427mb available. Did you maybe mess with the internal card. My brother messed up his sd card on the Moto droid other day just by downloading a pic. Only way to fix it was to reformat it.
Not that the number of apps matters (now that we see there is over 500mb avail for the OP), but I just count the number of rows in my app drawer - took < 10 seconds? (oh, and multiply that by 4) Just an FYI ...
But anyway, I'd keep it to under 300 apps, not so much for space but for OS stability?
Some apps need to be uninstalled to be updated or you'll get that message.

after rooting and moving all apps to sd why internal memory only 80 mb left

hey guys
I know that this has been asked many times, but what am I missing here, I rooted my play, moved all the apps via titanium to my sd card and I am left with only 80 mb.
I have about 240 apps installed
the biggest apps are 10 of gameloft games and IGO
1- what can I delete to increase internal memory
2- another question when I download apps from the market do apks get stored in the internal memory.
I am really confused about whats the use of moving to sd card if I will only have about 80 mb left in the internal memory.
This means I should start deleting apps, what a bummber as there are many more apps I wanna install
Try clearing caches.
After root I use an app called cache mate for root users.
It freed up a good 40mb for me on its 1st run.
i already did use cache mate
any other suggestions please?
Every app that you install left something on the internal mem, to use stuff like widgets etc, so if you cant live with 80mb (my nexus one is always with around 20mb) you will have to uninstall some of the apps, specially the ones that cant be moved to the SD...
The problem is that there is only one app that is left in the internal memory now and still only 80 mg.

well, perhpads i was not clear enough on my previous post...
no matter if you move all apps to SD, still, each app left a piece of it on the internal mem, if you have 240 apps, and each of them leaves 1mb, then you have 240mb used...
If you want some free mem, the best choice will be to get rid of some of the 240 apps, normally i dont use more than 10 and a couple of games...check what you have installed, probably half of them are junk...

How to re- claim internal storage space from failed installs or uninstalled apps!

Have you recently uninstalled an app to find that that either no storage space has been freed or worse, more has been taken up or you have attempted to install an app, it did not work but it appears to have taken up storage space? Read on...
Oh yeah, and you will need root... but your on XDA so,
Recently I got a nasty surprise when I attempted to install Dolphin Engine Beta .
I use Opera Mini, as this is incredibly lightweight and compresses data very well, meaning that it is not only good for less data consumption, but it is really speedy at loading web pages. 5* app for a HTC Dream, or any other low power phone.
Unfortunately, Opera Mini is obviously not too powerful, especially in the HTML5 area, as it scores just 63 (no bonus points) out of 500 at the time of writing.Chrome however, scores 371 + 11 out of 500, but I'm running CM6.1, Froyo. Looking down the list, There are no other web browsers that my phone can run other than Opera Mobile 12.00, but that's 13Mb -ish, and probably not too quick.
Then I looked at the "development or beta" section, and noticed Dolphin Engine Beta right at the top of the list with a whopping 450 + 3 points.
I researched it, and it was meant to be a quick browser, so I thought I might give it a go.
After repeatedly getting messages saying I did not have enough internal storage space, I tried again, and the install carried on for a bit longer...
Until the installing bar finished for the ultimate anticlimax of...
"Application not installed"
I thought, "grr, oh well, what was I thinking, I'm using a G1".
And then the ultimate horror!
You know that lovely message you get when you have around 9Mb of free space left....
Yeah. :crying:
I had began with around 18Mb (after I had uninstalled some crap I didn't need)
I now had between 8Mb and 9Mb.
I rebooted. Multiple times. Still had around 8Mb of internal storage left.
I had created no backup, and after looking under Settings>Apps>Manage Apps , /system/app and /data/app I was 100% certain that the app had in fact not installed, anywhere.
So where the hell was it, and how was it using up 9Mb of my phone's internal memory?
After some research, I cannot for the life of me remember exactly where, but somewhere, in an archived XDA thread, somebody had recommended an app called SD MAid
I thought "What the hell" and installed it on my phone. I was skeptical at first because it's called "SD Maid", so I assumed it meant SD card maid, for cleaning up your SD Card.
BUT NO
After opening the app and allowing superuser permissions, I had a peek in the "Corpse finder" tab....
Turns out I had a few dead bodies in my basement...
1 or 2 of them had a few words like "Dolphin" in them... I had hit the jackpot!
I then proceeded to select "clean all", and within a short space of time I had regained my internal storage space !!!
WOOOOHOOO!
So, if you need clarification or you skipped my hugely interesting story ....
1) Install SD MAid
2) Rate the app 5*
3) Open the app
4) Allow Superuser permissions
5) Select the "Corpse finder" tab at the top
6) Click "check"
7) Be patient (or is it just 'cause I'm using a HTC Dream? )
8) curse at the dead bodies and....
9) Give them a good clean.. select "Clean all"
10) See how the "yous is having no storage space" message disappear
11) Smile!
And of course....
I take absolutely NO credit for this app, it is NOT mine, just go to the Play Store and give it 5* for making you a happy bunny
Give the developer a :highfive:
Click the "Thanks" button for me if you really want, but... I am just a messenger for this app so be sure to thank the dev. of SD Maid first!

Continually "insufficient storage"

I have a rooted S5 w/ 16GB of internal storage, but I'm rarely able to update/download new apps. I have to scrounge for apps to delete for a half hour just to get it to let me download a new app or update an app. I have moved just about all the apps I can to the SD card (32GB, less than half used).
In the storage screen it says I have used 14.88GB in apps, and <20MB in everything else with "Free space" around 400-500MB. I usually have to get it to mid 500s before it will let me do anything on it. To make matters worse, somehow the apps I uninstall keep reinstalling themselves.
My problem seems to be this big "Applications" thing - which isn't right. I have some large apps, but they keep all their data on the SD card (like podcasts with PocketCasts). On my applications manager, from top down in size - facebook @ 190MB, google play services at 156MB, google app at 134MB... dropping off fairly quickly after that, so no way its 15GB worth.
What am I missing? Do others constantly have this problem? It is getting ridiculous! No reason that I can see that there should be a big bunch of stuff that is counted as used when it isn't.
Some things I've tried:
I heard about something the dumpstate/logcat, I cleared it but nothing got better
I used adb to set the default install location to the external SD card (I forget the exact command), as far as I can tell it is still trying to install in the internal SD card.
Any suggestions or more information needed?
EDIT:
More information thanks to DiskUsage (forgot I can download APKs - which install fine). It shows my internal SD card breakdown as 10796MB overall, 2612MB app data, 7815MB "System data", and 340MB free space (plus some other misc. that makes up the difference). I don't have a great understanding of how this is partitioned, but I'd imagine the ~16GB has 5GB off limits for ROM stuff? Then what is taking up nearly 8GB as "System data"? Is this normal?
EDIT 2:
Looks like it was creating duplicates in data/app (on a lot of phones I think this is data/app-lib). I used root explorer to purge the duplicates, and now have nearly 3GB free instead of a couple hundred MB!
I have the same problems but I use DiskUsage from the Play Store. Most of the time it's my cache for the download manager has several gigs of wasted space. Clearing cache fixes it for me.

I'll check that out the next time I am able to install an app but I should mention I also tap the "cached data" in the storage manager thing (in settings). Usually doesn't work I also use CleanMaster, which seems like it works, some times.
EDIT: Just checked it out, that's awesome! I have been looking for this kind of app, I use WinDirStat on windows that does something similar.
