I tried downloading the 2.3.4 OTA, but I'm in a wifi deadzone, so it never went anywhere.
I downloaded the update file directly from Motorola, but I can't use it with the usual instructions, because the phone keeps telling me that a download is in progress.
Is there a way to cancel the OTA download, or force it to download over regular data channels instead of wifi, or is there another way to use the update file I grabbed?

Hi all,
I updated my phone using the Motorola update manager, but my phone still prompted to download the latest update - I clicked yes, and WIFI only, but it just fails and comes up with an error message and a notification I can't remove. Does anyone know of a way to 'cancel' the update? Or am I stuck with this annoying notification and pop ups?
Thanks for any help
I have the same exact problem...I did the update via sbf... weird..
X3, same problem lol. On wifi it says update not available then says its currently downloading an update but does nothing
Well, then you know exactly what the problem is already.... if you SBF update, you aren't OTA updating, and the phone probably asked you to update OTA and you went ahead and flashed over it. I did that on my phone on Sunday, and had to flash back to 4.1.26 in order to OTA all the way up to 4.1.83, via 4.1.57 first. Follow the steps in order like you should and you won't have any issues - my phone works just fine on 4.1.83 after OTA updating it twice, and rooting it with GingerBreak!
Thanks for the responses guys.
If anyone finds a way of removing this problem without having to flash back and then upgrade again, please share the info!
Cheers.
I've installed gingerblur so the OTA route doesn't work (it gives me this ! mark and did nothing), so I have to use sbf method....I guess I could sbf it to 1.2.6 and then OTA it, but I suspect many of the system changes I made will be gone.

I have android version 3.0.1 and was able to update mine from acer_a500_1.104.02_com_gen1 to 1.141.07 from the link above and was hoping this would help with my problem but didnt. I am having trouble downloading the update 4.010.11 that keeps popping up and when I try to download it the download stalls because, it is still connected to the internet, but just doesn't recieve anything anymore. you can read what i have all done so far in this tread. http://www.acertabletforum.com/forum/acer-iconia-tab-a500-help/5619-another-a500-wifi-issue.html At the beginning of this post the link takes you to updates that you can download and flash from the sdcard. Does anyone know which one I could use to get me to at least 3.2 so I can see if the wifi gets fixed. When I did the update to the 1.141.07 I did have to root my tablet to update a few files. Not to worried the root, I just want to try to get this updated. If anyone can offer some help I would greatly appreciate it.
Is there a limit to the number of times Sprint will push an OTA update to a specific phone?
I'm not receiving the MDL update anymore, and manually checking says I'm up-to-date, but I'm not being at MDC. I received it the first time and installed it, but as we all know, it broke root access and closed the motochopper exploit. So I reflashed the stock ROM and wiped everything, got the update again but ignored it. Well, I reset my phone again, and now that I actually want to install the update, Sprint doesn't seem to want to push it to my phone anymore.
Edit #1: Saw this thread: New Update is here! Here is how to force pull an OTA update. But I am still curious why Sprint isn't sending it to me automatically if anyone knows.
Edit #2: Woke up this morning and the update had been downloaded. *shrug*
Hey.
I got a notification to update my device this morning so I connected it to WiFi and let it download.
It was very slow for some reason and at about half of the download I had to go, I left the WiFi range and it stopped the download with a message something like that "cant connect to the server please try again", so i tried again and it said that I have the latest update already installed.
Then i tried with KIES, it found a firmware update but failed to actually start the update after the download.
so now i have 4.2.2 and OTA says that the latest update already installed.
I have tried to clear cache, delete all in google service framwork, revert updates for all google stuff, nothing so far
Last thing i want now is to flash it, can I do something to fix this?
The device is Galaxy S4 GT-I9500, stock rom not rooted
Thanks for your time
Same here my friend, I hope someone can give any advice on this.
I know when flashing, firmware updates can be 1Gb - 2Gb file sizes. When you take that same update OTA, do they send down the entire firmware file, or just the sections that need updating? This 910V is the first phone I have never rooted, and have never taken an OTA update. When I bought it, it was on 5.0. I downloaded the CQC1 firmware and installed it updating it to 6.0, via Odin. It tried to update itself immediately after I rebooted. I disabled the updater until I did some homework, as the thing was relentless about updating and driving me crazy. I see now there is CQD1, CQE1, and CQF2 available. My problem is, I have a crap internet connection (1.5Mb) and am wondering if it has to download that hug file anyway OTA, if I wouldnt be better downloading it myself and installing it via Odin.... rather than an OTA update that gives me no info on progress etc....?
So:
1) OTA or download and install it/them myself
2) If installing myself, Where is the best place to download the huge file, without having to sign up or be throttled?
3) Is there anything in these newer updates that warrant updating, or any problems that arise from them? Or is it wise to just stay on CQC1 which is working without a hitch?
Thanks for any help.
