Data Counter?

Is there a Data Counter on the HTC Desire HD?
If not, what can be downloaded to view how much 3G data I used and if it works for sms and phone calls too, that will be great.
Thanks
Download call meter ng

3g watchdog does it well.. get it from the market for free
I use network monitor pro.

I used to use 3G Watchdog but it hit the battery too much.
I now use 'Data Counter Widget'.
Excellent at providing BOTH 3G & WiFi data daily, weekly, monthly, & Total.
net counter is also very good, it splits usage between wifi and 3g, and doesn't really use battery.. doesn't do the call stats though.. but call meter ng does that very well..
does call meter ng split the data usage of 3G and wifi ?
as i need to monitor the 3G data basically to know how much data I have remaining from my month's limit which is 2GB

wifi split 3G
Hi,
I have another question,
how do you know which applications are running in the background?
Is there an inbuilt app in the desire hd or do you have to download one from the market?
Thanks again

3G watchdog hit the battery too much? Did you check using phone settings > About phone > Battery usage - which % did you get exactly (and incidentally, with which 3GW refresh frequency)?
Phone usage is superb plus you can add your used data and it monitors calls and texts

I used (and still do for all other Apps) 'SystemPanel' which gives very precise data.
Unfortunately I can not remember the figures..... but I think it used to update something like every 2hrs which used to use something around 5 to 10% of the battery during the night when the phone was not operating.
'Data Counter Widget' on the other hand uses Nil battery %.

[Q] How to stop data connection on HTC maple.

Hi!
I have a HTC maple from Wind mobile, unlocked and running in Bangladesh.
Using WM 6.5 (One of those 3vo custom roms)
So basically the phone uses the GPRS/EDGE data connection, to do god knows what, and in the process uses about 15 megabytes per day.
Now I am using a prepaid Sim, and this phone has bled me dry.
I recharge my account and then I find that I have no balance remaining 11 hours later.
I tried to disable the data connection using Comm manager, with no effect.
I also tried some other data disabling programs, such as NoData and stuff but they dont work properly on the Maple. (It runs but the program freezes on my phone.)
The phone keeps on using the GPRS/EDGE connection even when im using wifi.
The worst part is that my service provider sends out an SMS stating that you need to recharge your phone (if you try to use their services without any balance) and since the phone tries to access the internet like 18 times an hour I get SMS'es all day and night. I cant even sleep properly because of this phone.
I really like this phone, but this thing is driving me crazy.
Can anyone help me?
maybe u should use " Modaco No Data "
u can find in kaskus.us/showthread.php?t=5203789
i hope can help

3G works like on-demand

Hi All,
I have been having problems with my S3 for some time now.
HSDPA. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. It works as if it was set up to work on demand.
Where could it be set up like that? I have checked every menu and cannot find anything.
Help much appreciated.
I don't understand, do you mean it keeps switching between 3g and H when you ate using it and not using it?

HSDPA works and in a few seconds stops. No data at all. Then HSDPA works again for a few seconds and so on. No pattern or anything. I tried to keep it running by keeping Skype work, but it would disconnect from data completely again. It is connected to HSDPA network and I can make calls over that, but no data.
Sounds like your being ping-pong'ed between antennas.
Usually flashing a eastern modem (I can recommend the ZN... ones) should fix it since they are optimized for large cities which have this issue.
Also, having a proxy server configured in the APN settings may cause this issue if it's overloaded and causes connection resets.
If you have one configured, write down the settings(in case you need it ) and try removing it.

Some good ideas.
Heading to the modem collection thread.
No proxy in APN.
An interesting thing is, that I went to another city a few hundred km away and everything was ok, so I thought it was the phone and it started working again. I am back in my area and it is happening again. The only thing is, no one else is having these porblems, even people using S3.
EDIT:Just fashed ZNLH3 using CWM and will start testing. Right after starting the phone, there is no data active.
EDIT2: I forgot to mention, that when I switch to GSM only mode, EDGE works just fin, no disconnects at all.
Try fast dormancy apps from play store and disable it.
The switching between hsdp and 3g is not a problem. It is a technology to preserve your data usage when you are not using.

There is no problem switching between 3g and H, there is a problem with switching between HSDPA and NOTHING.
ZN modems did not work.
Will try fast dormancy, the setting was not available in the ZN modem under *#9900#. Will try LH1 and Pay Store.
EDIT: FD switch installed and FD disabled. Will do some testing and report back. Working on LH1 modem now.
If you still have suggestions, they are more than welcome.

I am having exactly the same problem on 3UK... the data connection just stops working for no apparent reason
For another test, download a terminal emulator app from play store and then ping google.com or any other site in a loop ... See if you get breaks ...
Keep phone still ... Then try same with moving it around your house ...

Must be something with the phone, as I disabled FD and data connecition is gone again.
My problem is that my data does not work when on 3G but it works when on H+.

Nope, I9300 here.
Will also download DLI1 tonight and see if flashing that changes anything.

Position has not effect, it happens wherever I am.
I will try with ping and see.
EDIT: PIng seems to make the connection persist. Will keep it running and see.
Been running ping for over an hour now and no data cutoffs. Means there is something that keeps disconnecting me.
How do I find out what and fix that?
To answer my own question:
I instaled DLI1 last night and so far in almost an hour not a single data blackout!
I was wrong blackouts still happen
Using DLI1 and FD switch, it now works much better, but there are still blackouts.
I will look for the GSM Monitor software and see if that can help me identify the problem..
problem is your location ur phone is jumping between 2 bad signals/towers and one of those towers does not have 3g on it only 2g
I say this because I have same problem at home. certain areas of house amazing 3g reception others .ir does not work and ye so .ir flicks between them and I often eexperience "blackout" . .signal says on H but no data throughput.
try downloading gsm monitor from play store will show u how string signal is and which tower it .
hope this helps
really hope u find a fix ( I've just accepted it )

I'm pretty sure that disabling fast dormancy will fix this. I've seen people with that problem before and was fixed instantly. Search the forum for the fix. There is a file you download to insert that will fix it.

I have no choice but accept it. Will use monitoring tools to see if you are right, it sounds quite a good explanation.

FD is disabled and it is still happening.
Did you try enabling wcdma only mode? Settings-more settings-mobile networks-network mode.
That might work by forcing it to stay on 3g/h+

Of course, I have had it set up like that since the beginning.
Remember that my problem is not with constant switching between HSDPA and EDGe, but with switching from HSDPA to nothing.

Mobile Internet connection

Hi, sorry for disturbing, I have a weird connection problem and I am pretty sure it is not the internal antenna... When i use the phone for Internet, mail etc etc.... Everything goes fine it uses a 4G connexion and I almost never have a problem, I do have a problem Sometimes when I am not in a 4G covered area... Than i have to change the network modus to wcdma /gsm automatic because if I leave it on lte /wcdma /gsm the phone is jumping all the time between hspda /h/edge gprs... And this goes fast like that that connection fail... This problem stops when i change modus than I get a stable 3g connection.... A little bit disturbing but Okay..... The biggest problem is that I m always connected with my messenger services like for example WhatsApp.... When i have the phone in my hand no problem at all.... But when he stays on the table or in my pocket it is kinda weird.... Sometimes I don't recieve my messages and than suddenly when I pick up my phone I get like ten messages in once starting from like half hour before.... All this started like three weeks ago, network provider say there are no network problems, I didn't drop my phone or something... Internet connection is just acting very strange lately and this started before I updated to the official 4.4 rom and didn t change after...... I also have to tell that I don’t have problems at all with phone calls or texts messages..... It's just those two mobile Internet issues.... Since i m only good for using the phone and don't know nothing about the technical parts or something... I wanted to ask the question to all of you experts.... And wanted to ask for help and if possible a solution? I want to thank you in advance and hope you guys can help me soon.... Kind regards...

Try different modem perhaps?
Hi thanks for answering.... Tried everything.... Still same two connection problems..... Only thing I didn't do yet was a hard reset.... Could this problem be caused by an application or a bad uninstalled application? Thanks in advance

Hmmmmm, highly unlikely from my point of view, but however there could be some apps locked into 2G or 3G or 4G connection.
Try how clean system doing, if it's same, consider it a hardware problem which there is nothing we can do about it...
samsung s4
i am having network issues
wifi works good
2g works good
3g/4g doesnt work at all no signal if i select these networks
is it a modem issue or kernel issue
