Now that the R800x has been rooted, can it be overclocked? If so, what overclocking app would be the best to use?

Before you can overclock, you need a custom kernel that supports it, "Set CPU" is the best O/C app imo

Hi,
Are there any way to overclock X8?
LG GT540 has almost the same cpu, and it is capeable to run on 800Mhz confortly.
Its only possible by replacing the kernel. To replace kernel bootloader has to be hacked.
There are some devices where overclock module was compiled for standard kernel like moto Droid. But the CPU is different.

yes bootloader must be cracked.
Who could it do? Or any1 is planning to do that? Or where we can find what we need to overclock our cpu?
needs to crack the bootloader
Bull****

Haven't we already overclocked the X8's CPU via the doixanh's module?

Root Explorer is NOT a freeware!
Asking for illegal downloads of paid apps is against XDA's rules.
Better read the rules before posting.

Has any one been able to Overclock Gt-I9100 to more than 1.6Ghz?..
IF YES.. please can u tell me how to do it..

I'd be interested to hear how this affects battery life.
Overclocking is kernel dependant so look at the limitations on the different custom kernels.
Max i have seen is 1696mhz on Siyah Kernel.

Yes, buy a core i7 desktop and use it for processor intensive tasks. 1.2 ghz is already fast and 1.65 is simply blazing for a mobile.

You will be able to change the 1600mhz "Max Freq" in "freq_table" only by script.
For more info see Siyah thread (ie: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19206493&highlight=1696#post19206493 )
And as always in overclocking "at your own risk".
You can also ask for help in the Siyah Q&A thread :

Hi everyone! I have 2 questions for you.
1.How can i overclock my Zte Blades's CPU?
2.Is there a risk if I choose to overclock my Zte Blade . I mean, by doing this, can I destroy my phone ?
I'm using CM 7.1 .I have Zte Blade Gen 2.
Thank you!

1. settings -> cyanogenmod settings -> performance.
2. No, worst that can happen is your phone will crash & freeze up if you set the speed too high (depends on your particular phone) so that you need to take the battery out & restart. Do not 'set on boot' until you've tested that speed well & are sure that it'll never crash.
While you're in that performance/cyanogenmod settings menu you may also want to set 'Use 16bit transparency'. That will let the phone use gpu hardware acceleration better for graphics & make the launcher animations smoother.
I saw a lots of videos on yotube with Zte Blade phones overclocked to 710.I tried to overclock mine to 710, but the phone freeze. I think 672 is stable for me.
I'm glad to know that is no risk if i overclock to 672.
Thank you!
The overclocking limit depends from device to device...
Like mine can overclock upto 768 and after that it will crash....

i got 806 and it was stable for the time i used it(abt an hour or 2)
It realy depends on the phone, mine for example can only do like 729 stable on higher clocks it keeps freezing. I dont think high overclocks are verry likely to destroy the phone, but there is always a chance!
Hey guys, I'm on stock 4.1.2 and it's running well. But I was wondering, now that the bootloader is unlocked (or just in general) is there a way to overclock my RAZR on the stock ROM?
The phone is fast but with the great battery life I wouldn't mind some extra horsepower throughout the day.
Thanks in advance

i have not unlocked my bootloader yet, i dont see a reason to atm.. but with root, there is an app called pimp my rom, its the best i have seen, every option you can think of, even resolution tweaks..

Sick app, i saw the governor tweaks but i didn't see a straight up overclock?
Also, do you know any solid ways to tweak our resolution? How does that work, really? How can you get a better image out of your screen that way?
Thanks in advance

You need a kernel capable of overclocking to overclock, so keep an eye on kernel development. It's sure to pick up the Razr hd family now that we've unlocked the BL. Also, underclocking > overclocking. I've got an ATT HTC One X, which has the same processor and, thanks to the magic of project butter, I've underclocked as low as 1.3ghz (the lowest current kernels are capable of) without seeing any difference in performance. I do, however, get much better battery

Yeah I'd be really interested in underclocking. No idea what kernels are though. Other than that popcorn hat doesn't pop all the way. I need to learn.

A kernel is like the bridge between software and hardware, it's the Rosetta Stone from which the two communicate.
It affects processor clock speed, screen resolution, volume level, etc.
Nevermind

Currently only CPU overclocking is available on custom kernels, but trust me it's not worth it, it will just heat up faster and then throttle down.

Not sure about the others, but on dorimanx UVin is not recommended. In my experience, undervolting doesn't do much anyways. I'm getting battery life that's comparable to stock on Doris 6.2.

You can try on jb source based roms, but on 4.4 based roms, new power management drivers are very sensitive to uv.
This is with OC at 2.4 GHz
