Hello,
SGS2, has a bit lag with touch dragging over the screen.
I will explain : try to touch any movable object on the screen, for example a scrollable internet page.
Now try to move your finger up and down, up and down, for a couple of time,
you will feel a little bit delay of the moving object.
Now, I did try MIUI for example, and the problem doesn't exist.
So, this is absolutely software issue, I guess the kernel is responsable for that.
Is there any solution for this one ?

Thanks, but this is not exactly what I meant.
Even when the screen begins to move, and you are moving your finger, the screen is moving lazily after your finger, and not like it was stuck to your finger as it suppose to be.
Maybe is't a performance issue, but, again, in MIUI for example the screen moves as it was stuck to your finger.
Also for me it seems to stutter for the first second or so after touching the screen, then going smooth as butter. I haven't tried any custom roms so I don't know if it's a software issue or not.

Try that app, as I remember something like that, and changing it to 0 or 5 fixes it.
Or try a custom kernel with the fix applied.
this might be because the touch system is figuring out if you're doing a CLICK or a DRAG or a SLIDE or whatever. it will take around half a second for it to figure out if you just touched the screen once or you held down the screen and slide it across.
Some kernels address this issue , most roms will have it fixed and those who don't just flash different kernel , only stock rom will have this problem.

Yeah, paying attention to how I use it, you're right I always use my nail to get to the smaller objects, even the Start Menu, and keyboard. The only place I use my whole thumb is when scrolling the TF2D menu.
mhh yeah. but i mean if you are able to use your finger :> because it seems like the touch has some kind of problem with the complete finger. i have to push the screen very hard until it recognizes that im touching

for info on changing what pressure you need to register a touch. i found that helped.
re tiny buttons ... the two main things i did to make mine more finger friendly (i hate having to use stylus on something called Touch) are
- install RandomAccess.exe ... the Contacts app from Touch Dual ... much better than the (awful) one that came on early Elfs (if yours is recent, it may have this anyway)
- install better keyboards. there's lots about, user preference dictates which is best. i've currently got Gullum's Diamond keyboard which is nice.
yeah yeah i know :> i have this already on 80866... i just want to know if this problem with "whole thumb pressing" exsits only for me. the sensebility is already awesome, the only prob is that everything just works when i touch the screen with my nail and not when i do this with my thumb.
That would probably because your nail is recognized by the screen at the distinct location it is hitting it and the phone knows what you want to click on, but your fat fingers may hit a few different 'touch' areas and the phone is unsure which of those was to be accessed so it ignores the entry.... my only presumption.
You guys are right. I never noticed before that using the pad of my thumb or even finger does not work very well. I also out of habbit use my finger nail. I implemented the sensitivity tweaks about 6 months ago and noticed a dramatic improvement with the amount of pressure I had to implement to use my device but it still works best using finger nail rather than the pads of your fingers or thumbs. I have to make several attempts using much more pressure to use the pads of my fingers or thumbs. It's too bad really but not that big of a hassle now since I am use to using my finger and thumb nails and with the sensitivity tweaks it works really well.
I've got the onxy rom at the moment but before i just downloaded a different keyboard and can use it fine with my fingers.
Im using the Touch Of HD Rom and I have no problem getting around my device every day without getting the stylus!
Somtimes i forget the stylus is even there

I'm not rooted, I really didn't feel like tinkering with the phone right now, but I'm kind of getting tired of Launcher2's performance and behavior since the last OTA... aside from the obvious bugs (forgetting which home screen you are on), quite often it takes FOREVER to "redraw" when I exit an app and it force closes 5-6 times a week.
Any prospects of them releasing a bug-fix patch? I really don't have time to play around with loading roms and then maintaining my own update schedule.

That's not a bug, it was changed on purpose in 2.1 to go the the 3rd homescreen when you press the home button. It does seem like a weird idea at first but it's actually increased my navigation speed considerably. Before I would forget which screen I was on sometimes and I would have to pause and check. Now I know which one it's going to be and I know instantly which was to swipe to get where I want to go. I think it was a good choice.

Yes it is. I suggest you check again.
From any home screen other than the 3rd one you mention, hit the apps softkey to open apps. Now press either of the home screen buttons, soft or hard and you will (as you say) get returned to home screen 3 or the middle one. This is fine and good. BUT take a look at the mini icons at the bottom of the screen.
They are supposed to show
** ** to indicate you are on screen 3.
However they will incorrectly show the screen you were on before heading off to the apps screen and not the one you are on now.

That IS the home screen bug.
Yeah, that and the occasional battery pulls I have to do to reset a frozen phone and the bluetooth random reboots are getting bothersome.

Yes that would be a bug. I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem nor can I replicate it myself.
I've heard of many people with that bug. I have it also. Only on the stock ROM. The background is also offset to where it would be if you were on the previous screen (the one the dots indicate), as opposed to being centered when on the middle screen.

I had that issue before I rooted and installed Enom's ROM, now I rely on noticing how far left/right my wallpaper is shifted to tell which screen I'm on, as I have the phone/browser buttons in the bottom corners instead of the dots.
is there an app or a tool that I can use to see how "responsive" my screen is? I just want to see if I have the "improperly grounded" issue

if you haven't noticed a problem, then there either isn't one, or it doesn't affect you. it's when you go looking for problems that you find them. just leave well enough alone!
Ok, but how do you test? Ive seen apps where u can draw lines and stuff but I can't find anything on the market. What is a good app?

The grounding issue can be seen when you put the phone down on a surface ( non conducive) and try to operate the phone. Mine is most severe on the upper half of the screen, like when sliding the top bar down. Then touch the back cover and try it again.

Yeah, I only know it when I'm trying to slide the notification bar down when it is lying on the couch or something. The rest of the screen is fine.
Putting it down flat and trying to pull the top bar down I would say is the easiest way. I have problems with it

The app Multitouch Visible Test in the Market will let you see up to 2 touch points on the screen. I use it for everything I test with.
The touch input in this device is so bad i have to use my stylus pen to browse webs(i can never touch the back page button on google chrome instead it touches the forward page button instead),close programs(touch the top of the screen and pulling it down never works), opening the charm bar(swiping my finger from the right of the screen to the left never works too).
I tried calibrating it by searching calibrate on the charm bar's search feature but they doesn't work as well.
Any way to fix this? Its getting so annoying because i can't use the touch screen feature at all because its not precise.

Dont have one myself, but I played with one at Frys, and I gotta say I didnt see any of these issues at all! Maybe you got a bad one???

Make sure your navigation gestures start from the black bezel of the Vaio then onto the touchscreen. You can use the calibration tool, change pen and touch settings, and change double clicking of objects to single tap to make the experience better. I'm not sure if the registry change to make touch more responsive for surface rt applies to your Intel tablet.
I'm with @vinscuzzy on this one... generally speaking I detest Sony products, but this sounds like a defective unit more than anything else. I'm not sure what you mean by "calibration doesn't work as well" (grammar, people: it conveys meaning). but if you can't fix this yourself, I would definitely suggest you take it back to wherever you got it.
When i use the calibration settings whenever i try to touch the cross it shows the input to be slightly on the right. i can't even close apps or use the multitasking. Closing tabs is hard or even clicking on links on google isn't accurate at all.
I bought this machine overseas and it isn't even out in my country so replacing it is too much of a hassle.
I almost considered it. But found there is a problem with the drivers, especially with Photoshop supposedly MS and Sony are using a specific driver but its not compatible with certain apps that use a different format of driver like Photoshop for touch.
The driver developers as far as I'm aware via googling don't seem interested in fixing this issue due to cost and/or it being niche market. Maybe try other software, I hope you don't have faulty system

Just saw the video, I have the exact same problem, but in the center of the screen... You could download pie controls and use it for the time being.

Oh man, I think I'll restore everything, lock the bootloader and take the tour, I think it ridiculous, the problem is in the phone hardware, factory, so it's their problem, what do I install or not install on my phone not change at all ... OK, here's a little story that just happened:
I enabled dt2w today. So I've been playing around for a while, browsing, watching videos and stuff. When in the play store I used the swipe gesture to open the menu and was surprised nothing happened. I tried several times, it just wouldn't work. Back on the home screen (info: I've set it so the screen rotates in all angles and the navbar is always on the bottom) I was in landscape mode and was surprised again because the navbar would not react. So I rotated to portrait and it worked.
So I launched the phone tester app and used the multi touch test to check my whole screen and found that to the left and right side there was a blind spot from top to bottom about 0,5cm in width.
When thinking what could have possibly caused this I disabled dt2w, locked the screen, unlocked it and used the multi touch teat again. Alas, the blank spots were gone!
I'm not sure if this is helpful for you though as you use the stock kernel.
