Hi,
Has anyone else had the following issue.
I am on 2.3.3 unrooted (Stock) on a fresh install, however the touch screen seems to not be responding for some reason.
The bottom half of the screen works and i can slide between homescreens however I cannot pull down the notification bar for some reason. Opening up the app drawer i can only select Market, Facebook and Calendar anything above that i cannot select apart from timescape ive a apply pressure a bit more.
This is odd as it has only started happening in like the past day.
Anyone else experienced issues like this? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes i cant unlock the phone but sometimes I can.
Thanks for reading,
XperiaPlayer
Do you use any screenprotector? I had a similar problem. After attaching a thick screenprotector, i wasnt able to pull down the notification bar.
Dunno if this is related, but my screen acts weird. Registers extra touches on the screen, really annoying while texting.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCP2RNgdwB0
Theres a video demo!
I dont use a screen protector other than the one that is welded on to the phone. When typing I cant seem to type things like p or l on the keyboard, its like the touchscreen doesnt register it,
Fixed it now. Had to downgrade using x10 flash tool to the UK Generic 2.3.2 FTF. After a successfull downgrade the phone continued to function as it should do.
For now if you are having this issue i would recomend downgrading until 2.3.4.
Lockscreen works, notification bar drags down, i can select settings, use every button on keyboard. All of a sudden it works again

Where'd you get the 2.3.2 tft? Care to share the link?
Thanks
Hi,
I obtained the 2.3.2 FTF in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116090
Here is the direct link to it:
http://www.multiupload.com/MDS10FFGTT
and the link to the flash tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Pop the ftf in the firmware folder of the flash tool, open up the tool, select X10, click flash followed by OK (only if the Xperia Play Generic UK firmware is showing). Unplug USB Cable ,take out battery, hold down back button and plug in.
It will then flash.
If ik not rooted? can I flash back? Cause I can root my play yet and my touch plays some tricks on me t

If not, standard data connection charges may apply. Any questions? Contact us via www.htc.com. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Software number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software number). I have just installed it and not noticed any difference (though my phone does not suffer with the proximity sensor problem reported by some)

I've also not yet had a problem with the proxy sensor. My old version was 1.28.405.1 so i'm just updating now.
Cant seem to download this - am totally new to Smartphones - would I just download this to my PC or is there some other process ??
@crossbox : Goto > Settings > About phone > System software updates.
It is best to update via wifi for fastest download, once downloaded, select install.
phone will reboot, can take a little while to reboot so makes sure you let it restart by itself.
Brilliant - thanks
Don't know why they don't have those instructions on the HTC page - fools
When i update my phone turns off and stays off . it doesn't restart
any ideas??
just updated 1mon ago.
the process is simple, as usual, the key is always " DONT PANIC!"
go to manu - setting - about phone - system software updates - check now, and follow the on screen instruction.
The phone will restart a few times showing different screens, sometimes it looks like the phone is dead but its actually installing the update at background. during this process:
Dont remove the battery,
Dont force restart,
Dont press random keys,
and DONT PANIC!
the phone will do a full restart at the end of it and show up an system notification that the software has been upated to version 1.32.405.3

i know how the process works i have done it many times in the past. when the phone restarts it just stays off, i've left it for over 20mins and nothing. I have a feeling its because the phone is locked to tmobile.
Hey guys,
My phone had problems answering calls when i picked the phone from my pocket, it would either hang people up or make the screen disfunctioning, and make it impossible to slide the bar up or down.
after the update tried it a couple of times and the problem seems to be fixed!
I've also got a T-Mobile locked device and I can't install the update either. Annoying.
This is the first thing I am going to do when I finally get my phone on Monday.
I too am locked to T-mobile UK and the update worked a treat for me - incidentally HTC sense.com wasnt working very well prior to the update but its now working a treat
I updated aswell. Only diffrence Id seen, higher fps in benchmarks
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Update worked fine for me, I didn't have the proximity issue in the first place though. My device was T-Mobile locked but I've unlocked it before the update.
Managed to install it but i had to do a hard factory reset, then installed it and everything works fine now.
Bit of a farce to get it installed on mine in the end. Created a goldcard and manually installed it using the recovery menu in the bootloader. Worked a treat.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I've uploaded here last OTA firmware update from HTC.
Maybe someone can use it.
http://www.multiupload.com/ES8NQBUFD7
Could someone answer these two questions please?
(1) Will it install for 3 UK phones?
(2) What's better after applying this software update? Battery?
Thanks

Sounds like proximity sensor and MMS issues were solved.
just checking, because I read some complains that phone after upgrade is very slow or even unusable. Mine so far works fine on 1.6 OS so I wouldn't like to screw it up. Also is there way to disable OS update notification?
thanks
Before i rooted my phone i had Update 2.2.1 and in my opinion it was great.
It was fast and responsive, there was a little bit of lag with the keyboard i figured it was because i was just typing to fast other than that it was okay, but nothing is better than a Custom Rom,
also To stop the notification, press "More Info" and pull your battery. Some people need to do this more than once, but for others it works on first try.
thanks man! that's encouraged me to try this OTA update I got.
BTW I see in your signature you have gingerbread, is this new system works
for myTouch 3G ??? big difference from froyo?
OK, I have successfully installed Froyo OTA on mytouch 3G and phone still
is working fine. Didn't know there is support on multi touch zooming now, great!
Also there is an option to skip activation on welcome screen when no data plan is available, cool. I skipped it and added gmail account over wi-fi.
Yeah Froyo is a whole lot better than 1.6 lol you did a whole century upgrade ahahaha .
I have GingerBread 2.3.7, as for looks nothin to much but i like the fact that its faster than froyo.
some key features of mines that i like:
Slide to remove notification
Work Done in the kitchen so i have different set of icons(status bar icons), Battery Icon, Popup windows, Overscroll( mines isnt that gingerbread orange, i changed it to a nice navy blue), scroll bar, volume bars, download bars. ect the list goes on lol
and also I'm using the Touch Wiz Launcher thanks to "tvall" .
::Side Note:: in the future if your installing a new Rom (i believe anything above AOS 2.1) you can do skip, i personally like to take my sim card out, and then do the set up, the rom auto detects there's no sim card for data so it automatically asks if you would like to connect to wifi.
Works fine
Broken myTouch
2.2.1 has not bricked the myTouch next to me. But it won't connect to 3G/WiFi, open apps, and is sluggish. Sluggish lock screen, sluggish settings, sluggish home screen. It's slow and a negative experience. If anyone is going to update, I really recommend you don't.
LG Optimus L7 (P705)
Currently not rooted. Has never been rooted.
The only modification-app I've installed to the phone is Apex Launcher.
So, I decided to upgrade to Jellybean 4.1.2 earlier today. (Previous OS version of the phone was 4.0.2 I think.)
I used the LG Mobile Support Tool found at LG's website. I can't post links yet... lg dot com/ph/support-mobile/lg-LGP705
Under the Manuals & Download section, there's a "Software Update" tab, and I followed the instructions there completely.
The update went without a hitch, I should say, and the phone opened normally after updating.
HOWEVER, after checking the basic apps of the phone (Contacts, Calendar, Camera, etc.), I found that many of them weren't working properly.
I think I should also mention that the phone cannot detect the network signal, and all apps concerning mobile network connections (messaging, calls, etc) DO NOT WORK. Heck, the phone won't even allow me to open the messaging app. It just freezes after displaying a black screen (the status bar on top is still visible though.) The same happens when I attempt to make a call. I can't receive messages, I can't open call settings.
Things I can do:
- Play music. (a little laggy sometimes)
- Take notes
- Open the calendar
- Probably alot more. Haven't checked yet.
- Browse the internet to some extent
Things I can't do:
- Call
- Text
- Other network related things.
Oh yeah, when I restart the phone, it begins to detect the network signal (not referring to WiFi), and then after a few minutes it shows the "no sim card" icon on the status bar, and there's a red x in the signal bars.
Restarting doesn't work, removing the battery, sim card, MicroSD card doesn't work either.
What the hell happened? Can someone please help?
Why did this happen? If this was an "official" update from LG, then shouldn't everything be fine?
What can I do to fix this?
Thank you!:fingers-crossed:

Could you give me a little more details? Which V20 should i use? Where can I download them? Does flashing require rooting my phone? Cause as much as possible I'd like to avoid rooting. Srry I'm really not familiar with flashing yet.

From this link http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=13 you can download the latest official firmware of your country.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176430 here you can see, how to flash with KDZ updater.
Good luck!
Atrix 4g ROM Developer Zn7mkUKzN1r8aCIV's new ROM v2 gets you Android 4.4.4 KitKat and also fixes the battery percentage problem that is affecting most Atrix 4g users. check out his Development Thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/atrix-4g/development/rom-cm-11-android-4-4-4-atrix-bigpart-t2847281
However, after flashing his ROM, most of you will get a "Setup Wizard has stopped" problem. Here's the fix I found:
1)On the screen that says "Choose language:" choose your language
2)On the screen that says"Insert sim card", you will find that when you press "next" or "skip", the setup wizard will stop. At that point, swipe down the status bar.
3)Touch the date at the top left corner of the status bar
4)It will then ask you to sign in to your Google account and WiFi.
5)After you do all that, you will be taken back to the calender screen.
6)Triple click fast on the back button or home button.
7)You will be taken back to the language selection screen.
8)Choose language
9)Now you will find that when you press skip on the "Insert sim card screen, it won't force close anymore.
10)Sign in to WiFi again, and you will then successfully finish the setup and can start using your phone.
The second problem, is that your phone most likely will not detect the sim card. Here's how to fix:
1)Go to settings
2)Turn on then off the mobile network.(MUST!)
3)Power off your phone, do not take sim card out.
4)Power your phone back on.
5)Your phone should now detect the sim card.
[EDIT]:New problems and fixes:
This problem is very rare and will probably not happen to your problem at all, but just in case, here's how:
After flashing ANY new ROM, some of you will probably get a black screen instead of the boot animation. DO NOT WORRY, you're phone is NOT bricked, it's just that the boot animation will work randomly sometimes and sometimes not. Just power on your phone and wait until the navigation bar buttons at the bottom of the phone light up, then you will know that the phone has finished booting up, and then simply just press the power button to open the screen.
AGAIN, this will most likely never happen to your phone, so far, I think I was the only one experiencing this problem.
Another problem that came up: Google Now voice search in the Google now launcher doesn't work. This should fix the problem:
1)Download the Google Now lib from this link (thanks to XDA Developer Jesco): http://d-h.st/EH1
2)Go to file manager and move it into /system/libs.
3)Now the Google Now voice search should work.
Ask any questions that you have and I will be happy to help you ASAP.

idk, maybe if you learned how to search for youtube within Z's CM11 thread, you might have been able to find a link on page 35. But its ok, you're just like a lot of users who don't know how to use that simple feature known as a search bar.

I'm not one of those people you described, I searched on that thread but I didn't see because I was looking for Z's posts about YouTube problem. But thank you for information.
I downloaded that link, tried to install but I can't install it, It says "App not installed". How can I fix that?
I fixed the problem by renaming YouTube.apk in system/app folder and installing the new one. But there should be another, simple solution?
PS: Another question about that YouTube situation; the link that guy posted on CM11 thread is 5.2.27th version of YouTube, and I looked at "About" section of YouTube on my phone it says I installed 5.1.1.5 which is older. Why don't our phones update YouTube to latest version? Is this about the compatibility thing? Should we always follow the updates on somewhere else?

Hi
My phone seems to be extremely sluggish when doing common tasks like opening or closing apps, opening app drawer, etc.
Also, any games I play on my phone seem to freeze for 0.5-3 seconds on touch input.
Is this a problem with my phone, or this ROM, or all CM ROMs on Atrix?

Have you tried a different CPU governor? Or have you even unlocked the performance menu? There are some tweaks that you could apply and maybe you're missing them.
[Solved]
Hey guys, first of all, thank you Z and P! my atrix is now revived and I can enjoy it once more! what a great job. So far, really stable (although the screen don't light up until de end of some calls). Battery is doing great!
After some reasearch I found out I should be using the hporch32 recovery. Turns out I also needed to flash the hporch32 boot with "fastboot flash boot boot_olympus_kitkat_bigpart_hporch32_finalv2". I know it was silly, but the guides don't really cover this situation....
Anyways, thank you very much for this gift! Hope this helps other noobs!
Hello!
I am unable to turn my screen off. When the phone tries to sleep and the screen turns off then it immediately turns back on in a loop forever. The same happens when I turn it off by pressing power button. I have done stock revert via odin and factory reset and the issue persists. I also have tried few other roms and wiped everything. what can I do? Please help me, thank you!
Phone model: Samsung galaxy J5 (00fn) 2015
Currently on stock 5.1
In the logcat screen goes off around 10:12:22.492 and then back on at 10:12:23.012
For others having the same issue; I found a 'better than nothing' solution. Google play - "screen filter" app. First set the icon in a place u remember at your home screen and then set 'screen filter' percentage to lowest and run the app. Voila! If you use a custom rom that supports it or have rooted your phone then you can assign a hardware button to launch that app on/off and if not then use "button mapper" from play store.
OK. I think I have solved this for good(?) On my phone. I have managed to get my screen working NORMAL without using screen filter about five times in a row now after installing new ROMs. If this method works for others I would be glad to hear. This might sound a bit odd but the method goes like this: first thing after installing a ROM I download the screen filter app. Then I press it on and off once. Then I assign the app to long press recents button and I disable all functions from home button except for 'double tap = home'. Then I long pressed the recents button couple times and after that let the screen dim and go off by itself and now my screen works!! I can remove the screen filter app and change the hardware buttons back and it works even after reboot! Unbelievable! Please share your thoughts if this worked for you also. BTW I'm now using resurrection remix official by SoUnd001 so at least for this ROM this trick works. (Customizable hardware buttons make this easy)

E qdutils : int qdutils::getHDMINode(): Failed to find HDMI node
There is also some errors regarding lights.
My questions are:
1) Did you modify that stock ROM in any way or you've been running stock ROM + stock kernel as it is? If you did modify it, what modifications did you make? If you used stock as it is, then the software shouldn't be the culprit for your issue.
2) You've been using screen filter apps before for long time? If yes, maybe this could be the problem. When I've checked the comments at a screen filter app in past, i did read that it harmed the phone of some people. However, might be fake comments as well. You can also search on Google something like: "android does screen filter harm?".
@#Henkate I also noticed those errors but couldn't find out the cause. Thanks for trying to solve!
Q1. Yes it was pure unmodified stock ROM flashed via odin. The issue was still there so I figured it must be hardware related BUT after flashing TWRP I noticed that the screen worked fine in the recovery ie dimmed and went off normal.
Q2. I hadn't heard of the 'screen filter' app before this issue. I think this app actually fixes my issue although the problem returns after installing new ROMs.
Thanks for support! :good:

This is kinda weird. Well, as long as that workaround works...
I also thank you for changing the thread name to "solved" and posting the solution/workaround! There aren't many users like you which does these two things, at least at J5 forum.
Have a nice day!
