Hello Everybody
I was using a different android mobile phone with stock Android dialer.
I have configured the stock android dialer to always default to Dialer Tab.
I have got Motorola Droid Pro couple of days back.
I want to dial numbers using Motorola Droid's keyboard without ensuring the calling application is accepting my inputs correctly or not.
So i want to configure the Motorola Droid Pro's Dialer too to default to Dialer Tab.
How to do that?
I don't want to create a shortcut in the homescreen for the dialer tab, because i can't associate the shortcut to hardware keys.
Or is there any dialer app in the Android Market to accept numbers only.
Most of the dialer apps shows alphabets when i enter something in the Droid Pro's keyboard.

a great thing to do with the universal in my opinion is that when your in the phone layout, ou can use the keyboard keys a=z to get our contact, much like you can with contacts.
Through Smart-Dialler?
I've forgot how to turn it off; any ideas?
I really don't know if it is possible to use the hardware keyboard with the generic smart dialer. However as an alternative there is a program by the name of Imaginet FingerClix. This is also a smart dialer with added functionality to send SMS as well. This program can be configured to use the hardware keyboard to search ad dial contacts.
A great program and recommended

My Tytn was replaced under insurance after loss.
When in the phone app, pressing numeric keys used to enter the number but also showed matching contacts containing the sequence of alpha characters from the keys pressed.
The firmware in the new phone is different, and the phone app doesn't support this feature any more. Typing numeric keys simply enters the number. The only way to find a contact is to enter the contact list and select manually.
The new ROM is 2.07.161.1 with WM5.0 5.1.461 (Build 15671.3.3.0).
Can anyone cast any light on how to re-enable the alpha search feature in the phone app?
Thanks in anticipation!
Sounds like you're referring to PhonePad app?
There are CAB's for the PhonePad app on the XDA FTP server - your best bet is to do some serious searching as there have been issues reported using PhonePad with other 3rd party software.
You can download the English only version of PhonePad from >HERE<, but I'd suggest some light reading of the results of a search for "PhonePad" in the Hermes forum before you run off and install wildly
HTH,
Mark.
I think you miss smart dialing function. However this should be already implemented in your ROM. Search for smart dialer. The Phone pad application suggested above is T9 based input method, not a dialer.
Hello!
I have started developing some small apps with Visual Studio 2008 and the Windows Mobile 6.0 SDK using C# for my HTC Touch HD.
Now, I have a problem. I have a numericUpDown-Panel in my app and for this I want to use the numeric inputpanel of the htc phone-keyboard. But when I enabling the input panel, I only get the normal htc phone-keyboard. I know how to switch between the input panels (QWERTY, phone, ...), using the InputPanel-Class, but I donĀ“t know, how to switch between the different panels of the htc phone-keyboard (normal, signs, numeric).
For example, when I create a new contact in the phonebook and I select a field for a phone-number the keyboard switch to the numeric keyboard.
And this is exactly that, I want to use in my app.
Has anybody an idea?
Cheers Michel
Sorry to bump a very old message, but I'm wondering the exact same thing for my HD2...
I've seen other programs do it, but how?!
I am using iconsoft as my dialer and like its interface. However, this app does not support video calls. Where is the program for the default HTC dialer which has the video call function? I am trying to map a shortcut to it.
Hi!
I recently got a HTC Magic. The only thing that bothers me is the "iPhone-ish" skin on the keyboard and dialer.
Is there any way I can get the default Android keyboard and dialer? I would rather not root the device, but if I have to, I'll do it.
Thanks.
I'm also interested on how to get rid of the HTC Dialer. The keyboard's OK, but I don't like that their own dialer practically split apart the dialing stuff from the contact list and call log.
I would like to know how to uninstall the HTC Dialer too!
you dont uninstall stuff.
you get a new app that does the same thing and set that as default app for the that function
