Wifi connection for UK T-mobile Vario

Dear all,
I'a a newbee and i've been trying to connect to my home wireless network but I can't. I go to the "Configure wireless networks" and find a list of network adapter. I guest the one i need to config is "SDIO Wlan wireless adapter". I have played around with it, with or without IP address but it doens't work. I select "My work network" under "programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using" but it doesn't work. Could someone help me out please?
Cheers
try 64 bit encryption
I couldn't connect to my work or home networks with my Vario. it turned out 128 bit encryption was not playing. once I set the access key to 64 bit it connected no bother.
no encription option
Hi,
When I set up a new wireless network, i put name, then choose "connect to the internet" in the "general" tap. In the "network key" tab, i choose "open" under authentication and "disabled" in data-encryption field (the other choice is WEP) because i don't set any password for my home WIFI.
Could someone help me, please?
Normally the my device should pick up the signal automatically. in the "configure wireless networks" window i find a list of many networks in the "wireless" tab, including the one i set up, but none of them connects to my home wireless network.
HELP! HELP! HELP!
thanks

WiFi connection problem.

Hi there,
More wifi problems here! I have read all the relevant posts and can't find any help yet, so;
Basically I have an unlocked ex-T-mobile MDA Vario that I'm trying to connect to wifi.
I have tried to connect to my home wifi network and several other networks but can't actually make things work; my Vario sees the network and in my home case actually says connected, but when I open up Internet Explorer it opens up a box saying 'The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.'
Under the Wireless LAN settings I'm not sure if I should be putting something in the fields for LEAP or ENROLL and I'm not sure what goes in there anywhere - under Enroll it asks for username and password and server - are these necessary and what are they?
Incidentally my Vario can log onto the wireless router because I can type in the IP address and alter settings - I just can't get past it to the actual internet.
Any help would be much appreciated - in basic terms please!
Thanks again.
In the settings page, got to the connections tab, then to "Network Cards" make sure that on the "Network Adapters" tab where it says "My network connects to" you have "The Internet".
Then again on the connections tab, select "Connections" go to "Advanced" click on "Select Networks", on the botton where it says "Programs that automatically connect to a private networks should connect using" pick a connection that doesn't have a modem set up or proxy settings.
I don't know if these are the exact rules, but that is how I have mines set up, let me know how it went.

Your JASJAM (with default settings) should always "prefer" Wi-Fi over a cell connection. I'd take a look at your adapter settings and make sure that the WLAN/Wi-Fi one has "This adapter connects to the Internet" checked.
John
Some applications such as Windows Live (at least I've found this) still prefer to use a data call, until you cancel the connection.
You can stop it doing this if you go to Settings -> Connections tab -> Connections -> Advanced tab -> Select Networks.
If in the top box you have a "Wifi" option, select that and a data call won't be made. If not, select "New...", call the settings "Wifi" and click "ok" in the corner to create the option.
This works for me, anyway.

How to disable Auto data Connection (3G, Edge)

Dear ALL,
I need to know how to disable data Connection (Edge, 3G), because my device sometimes connect to Edge or 3G service automatically, I dont have any running programms that needs data connection or auto update !!!
At the same time I want my phone to connect only when recieving MMS messages !
Please advice !
Hi there,
you can install 'HD Tweak' and Disable the items in 'Data (GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA)'.
You can also try Nodata application from Modaco
=> http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility-nodata/
Edit : Caution, Nodata stop ALL data (MMS too) so cymagnus's solution is better
nodsata can toggle mms on/off.
I cant get that HD Tweak to open, all i get is a long page full of codes and such, any suggestions?

Can you not do it manually like this? Start/Settings/Connections Tab/Connections button/Advanced tab/Select Networks button. Then in the pop up where it says "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:
Select "MY ISP".
I think MMS will still run?
I have done it and it works, thanx alot

ahmad which way worked for u??, i think if u go to phone, options, band, select your network choose GSM, THAT will solve the problem
It's very easy and you don't need any tools!
Just go to Start--> Settings --> Connections --> Connections --> Advanced --> Secelct Networks and select 'My Work Network' from the dropdown menus.
after selecting "my work network," my main screen still shows the icon "E" does it mean anything?

Having loaded Nodata and then Tweak and found it also had a 'nodata' element I then discovered the HD built in Connection settings.
Seems to work fine.

Means you have an EDGE connection.
nodata its good and works fine on my HD
Hi. I'm not shure what you wanted to do but i'm having the following problem:
In network management if I have selected "programs ...that connect to the internet should use->Mobile Internet" then it allways uses this connection, even if i'm on wifi....and that's not good for me. If i select "my work network" and i'm not connected to wifi, it doesn't go to gprs.
I don't want to manualy set Data connection off every time i'm on wifi and then turn on when i want to use gprs/3g.
How do you do it?

If you select "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using "yourproviderGPRS" (or whatever you have got that is relevant to data connection) it should connect to the internet using WIFI when WIFI is enabled and GPRS when WIFI is off. That's how mine works anyway. If I set it to "my ISP" GPRS will not autimatically connect until I manually change the settings. Hope that makes sense.
It maybe is a poor mans solution, but whenever I travel abroad I simply switch to a copy of my active account in which I deleted the password of my dataconnection. That way i am sure it won't connect. Whenever it tries to connect it will simply ask for the pw first.
You are on an active data connection only when you see the "E" as part of the 4 bars cell phone signal icon.
Not sure ? Then just tap the title bar where you see the "E" and the grey "System Status" screen comes on. here, tap on the "E" icon here and you will see the connectivity status message that says something like "No active connections" or similar.
Basically the E means that you are on "EDGE" signal.
Hope this helps !!
Cheers !!

Has anybody worked out who has the final say?
I have the Standard Built In Connections, NoData and HDTweak.
From what I can see the Built in gets overridden, i.e. with Built In set to Off using the Internet outside of a WiFi area, stills connects via the cell network.
I think adjusting the settings as suggested previously is the best route.

Where are network settings stored?

Hi all,
I'm trying to troubleshoot a wifi connectivity problem on my Titan, and I think it'd be helpful if I could clear or reset the network settings.
Here are the symptoms. This is on a freshly flashed WM6.5, though it happens under 6.1 as well. Under Settings -- Wifi, the Titan finds the SSID of my router fine. I configure it with encryption and password (though the same thing happens with encryption disabled). It shows Available. I click Connect, it says Connecting for a second or two, then switches to Unavailable.
One possible clue is that when I configure the wireless network, right beneath the Network name is the dropdown "Connects to:". In that dropdown there are two options: "The Internet" and "Work". Likewise when I choose the Network Adapters tab, my two options are "The Internet" and "Work". But when I go to Settings -- Connections -- Connections -- Advanced and choose Select Networks, the options are "My Work Network" and "My ISP". When I try to change the name of "My Work Network" to "Work", I'm told that settings under that name already exist, but they don't appear in the choices.
Please assist me if you can, this is driving me bonkers and seriously hampering the usability of the device.
Don't touch "My ISP" and "My Work Network" at all. Hard reset to go back to default/original settings and try connecting then.
The issue could be with the way your wi-fi access point or router is configured (i.e. open vs. preshared authentication, etc...). You need to fully match wireless SSID config on your Titan and your router. If nothing works, try connecting to another wi-fi router or hot-spot.
