Bravo mate, yes it is not possible for photon (I already focused on that problem), also see it problem is also for other devices (try searching google), I tried to get it working but I think its bug with android. But I got ping only if use ping from router (telnet to router, than ping android device)! I playing with it and it is priority high for me, if I found fix, I will post here!

I facted the same problem with this release ( r134++) also. I could not use FTP server on android as previous release. PC could not find the server as usual.

No, I used wifi to connect between PC and android. I use SwiFTP Server to make android as FTP server.

Also, what release worked for you?

I use r134++ and other fixed from you.
The release worked is 30.05.2011_r106.rar.
I tried to use FTP server on winmobile and it is ok. so It mean my network is no problem.

Sorry I also need it working! Play with:
adb shell
sysctl --help
Maybe you get it working

Got it working
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\cardsharing>ping 10.0.0.3

But I playing with patch, not know how to make patch for it becouse it use command line... will try to make!
But if you know how to automate it here is how to:
- connect to wifi
- open android terminal emulator and type su
- accept root user
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
busybox iproute flush table main
busybox iproute flush table wifi
iptables -F
iptables -t nat -F
iptables -t mangle -F
- disconnect wifi and then connect
If not working first time try again until get it working

It working now! I tried ip webcam and ftp server, all working good!
But you need to toble dns "to allow" in phone settings in hiden menu, procedure is:
dial *#*#4636#*#*
enjoy

Thanks dude. i came back from holidays yestarday and im checking the new release!
just one question

I'm pretty sure you can't use Terminal Services over ActiveSync. You need to use a wireless LAN connection from the Universal to your network, so that your Universal has its own IP address, independent of your laptop.
yes this is what i would like an ideots guide to using terminal services on the exec. please can anyone help.
You can use TS directly from Jasjar to Laptop. first disable firewall in laptop next enable ts in laptop (properties in my computer, remote and enable remote desktop. connect pda via active sync. in laptop open a dos windows, and write, ipconfig ; you i´ll see an ip address like 169.254.x.x. in your jasjar put the ip 169.254.x.x and connect.
To quote MBastian:
You don't have to set up anything at the PPC.
Just type the IP of your PC, when you're connected with active sync.
Make shure that remotedesktop is activated in system settings.
You can easily connect externaly via internet if you have a Firewall/Router with dyndns and portforwarding.

-So get your external IP address:http://www.whatismyip.com/
-Enable Remote Desktop (right click on my computer on the desktop > properties > remote desktop)
-If necessary, apply the concurrent terminal services patch
-Create a new user in control panel if required
-Use terminal services client on PPC to log onto your PC by typing in the external ip address from above as the server's address.
-You may require port forwarding to map the Terminal Services Port to your local PC's IP Address (eg 10.0.0.3 etc) if you use a router.
Post and tell how you get on!

Just as quick side note, I don't think XP Home edition has the ability to support a remote desktop...only the pro version.
Cheers,
Lordsmiff.
Lordsmiff: good point.
It might be advisable to read around on this, but have a look at the patch anyway:
http://sig9.com/articles/concurrent-remote-desktop?from=100&comments_per_page=50
It regresses the terminal services client on SP2 to that on an ealier version that supported concurrent users. I doubt it, but it might just shoe horn the possibility into home XP.
If not, there are other ways...

hi vj...
i havent applied the fix you've mentioned as yet....i just thought i'll try once before i apply and post the results....

is that correct? the other 192.168..... ip is my ethernet card connecting to my lan...
so could you please confirm if i hit the right ip in???
the result of trying it is....theres a timeout and gets says "disconnected".
San
btw, i thought i must say that windows home xp works fine with remote assistance...i've invited people many a time to control my laptop without problems....
so vijai, is that patch really necessary???
San
Remote assistance is different from terminal services and they use different clients so you would not be able to do it that way - you either have to hope the fix works or put on XP pro instead.
And yes, the 169.x.x.x IP address is likely the right one.
The concurrent user patch is to make concurrent use of terminal services: basically on XP Pro, when you login remotely (eg using your pda) your current desktop user is kinda locked out because you can only have 1 person using 1 copy of XP Pro.
The patch allows 1 person to use XP pro remotely and 1 to still be logged on. A big improvement.

Terminal Services over VPN on O2
hi all this has got to be the most anoying problem ever. i can connect to O2 vpn access point and hence i can connect to my work vpn server. however as soon as i try to open a TS connection to my desktop (through the vpn) the VPN connection is dropped and i never connect. Can anybody tell me why? if i have a vpn connection to my work server why does TS try to make another connection and bomb out the original. Is there a fix or another way of doing this i.e. does a external IP have to be nat'd to my desktop IP on port 3389? all help greatly appreciated. Ian
this is a well known problem, waiting for an microsoft hotfix.
same problem...
Try Other ways
Hi.
I was in the same situation and whatever Ip I used on my home xp didn't work.I also have a router,so I disconected it to avoid complications, didn't work, used my work comp as well, didn't figure it out,I also checked out microsoft's web site about the subject, and It was mentioned that it only works on pro xp.
But I really found a much more easier way,and convenient,to control my work, wife's,and personal computer.
Just go to: www.logmein.com -It's FREE,so check it out and good luck.
Happy Holidays by the way.
VPN issue is now fixed
Hurrah I took note of similar issues that people were having with wifi and VPN and applied the same logic. the OS will always see any address/name as being on the internet if it is an IP address or has a dot in its name, for example a fully qualified domain name. to get around this i installed pocket hosts and gave a netbios name to the ip address of my work desktop. created the vpn connection via O2 (they say i had the rights but when i told them it worked with a vodafone sim card they checked again and low and behold it now works) once the VPN connection was up i used the TS client on my Exec and put in the netbios name instead of IP. because of the host entry it did not dial the GPRS/3G link but used my existing VPN and Bobs your Uncle i'm connected. thanks to this forum O2 now have a happy customer. cheers B1lly
I am not terminal services in my Dopod 900. Who can help me sent to "exe" to me? Thanks!

Best VPN, SSH, Firewall, IP Utils

I would like to hear what everyone is using for the following
VPN - I am trying the BlueFire Client, and it seems okay
SSH - The Cambridge Util is the only one I am aware of right now
IP Utils - I am using Cambridges VxUtil. It seems okay, I have used it in the past
Firewall - ??
Terminal Svcs - Is thier a better client than the OEM ver? It seems a bit limited..
Any other Networking utils that you would recomend??
Thanks a lot..
and what about OpenVPN for PPC - looks good

Hello
VPN : i use openvpn pocketpc on my WM VI ... but that's not a really good solution because CommManager is not aware of this connection --> applications that connect through CommManager don't use VPN :/
SSH : http://www.pocketputty.net/
IPUtils : like you, but im looking for a route editor
Good luck
Not aware of one.

Do you think a Firewall app would be worth $10 bucks? I've thought of building one, since there's really no protection from WiFi or BT attacks. The GPRS/EDGE/3G should be firewalled at the carrier.
Whew I have been really busy at work and I just got back to checking this thread.. Thanks for the tips on SSH and VPN.
I got the Bluefire VPN working after a little bit of hassle. The client does not support Split Tunnel and i get a lot of frame errors on my VPN concentrator when connected but it does seem to work.
I'll have to check out the OpenVPN and the SSH clients you guys posted.
As far as firewall goes. I think it is just a matter of time before we start seeing attacks aginst devices.
A firewall would be nice but it may cause some headaches with other apps.. Also even though the carrier data nets are firewalled where they connect to the Public Internet that might not protect you from connections from other devices on the carrier network.

Test my ftp server; download 60 themes free

OK, I just want to test this server so I am asking people that want themes for their hermes and/or wizard with either wm5 or wm6, to login and download them for free. They are in a zip file..
ftp://elsmacko.servebeer.com
Username: windowsmobile
pw: wm6
Give it a try..the server will be set to only allow a few people at a time, so please try again later if it is down..
I wasn't able to get to it. It was in a "connecting" state for about 30 seconds after I entered login/pw. The page then went to "This page cannot be found."
Sorry...yes I am having difficulties getting it to work behind this router..I already setup the port forwarding..I will check again when I get time..thanks for testing it for me, everyone.
The server is up again! Please give it one more try, I think it will work now...
ftpsite is asking for credentials but nothing is happening after that
OK try logging in anonymously, I have now allowed that.
I guess with Xp you either have to allow anon or your usernames have to be the same as allowed to login on the XP network :0
IT IS UP NOW!!
I found a site that I can use to test the server as I try different things..
I had to do several things but it came down to selecting the default DMZ server in th router...
Here are the results of a test; i found a site where I can test it without the help of an outside person..
Service appears to be up, port 21 is open
drw-rw-rw- 1 ftp ftp 0 Jan 17 22:15 .
drw-rw-rw- 1 ftp ftp 0 Jan 17 22:15 ..

-rw-rw-rw- 1 ftp ftp 108727 Jan 14 22:28 How to show or hide SIM contacts in the Contacts.pdf
-rw-rw-rw- 1 ftp ftp 5863584 Aug 23 2007 MDA_User_Manual.pdf
Anonymous login has been disabled, please login:
ftp://elsmacko.servebeer.com
Username: windowsmobile
pw: wm6
it is working for me @ 2:56am GMT.
I would also not use DMZ on your router , as you are just advertising your computer is totally open to the internet. I would just add a virtual server in the router and add the application, you are using for an FTP server and Port 21.
You should also set up a no-ip address and download the duc client from the no-ip website then you can call it for example elsmacko.ftp.no-ip.info instead of your ip address

newbie remote desktop user

hello everyone, im a newbie to remote desktop and want to setup my u1000 to conect to my workstaion via wifi and internet as well. i just recently upgraded my u1000s rom ap3.
i could realy use your help pros..
u guys can also direct me to some link to useful info on settngs..
or any other replacement for remote desktop..
im sorry if thess silly questions doesnt needed a thread...
but i desperatly need the settings, as buy u1000 was one of my main praioriities
pls do help me frnds...
thanx in advance..
im no pro but i have it working here!
First off,to use it over the internet you need to make some adjustments on the pc end unless you have a static ip.
got to somewhere like no-ip.com register and d/l the software so you have a way of naming your dynamic ip.
Then you need to ensure that the allow remote connections is enabled on the pc and that your routers ports are forwarded if they need to be(mine did).
Then you should be able to enter the name of your ip (from no-ip.com) and password to logn from the rdp program on your dopod!
It should be similar over wifi on a LAN but instead of the no-ip name you just enter the computer name and password.
Forgive my terrible explanation of the setup but i can never quite explain myself properly.
Their are loads of tutorials on the net for setting up rdp and other tunnelling software like vnc.
have you tried ... ??
Sorry if this doesn't answer your question. However, I wonder if this might help. Check out www.logmein.com. I use it to connect with my desktop and it's free. You can remote adjust the settings to 640x480 and it works well -- even at 800 x 600. It's free!! (you can pay to upgrade to different features, but I never have.)
You might also look at orb.com. I can't get the video streaming to work well at all, but you can (also) connect with files on your computer and download them to your athena. It's also free.
As far as vpn tunneling, I haven't had much luck getting it to work. There's a company called hotspotvpn. Their service is cheap and works great with a regular laptop. They advertise compatibility with windows mobile, but I could never get it to work. I'd love to know if anyone else was able to do vpn tunneling and how.
Hope this helps somehow.
1.) goto www.whatismyipaddress.com that will tell you what your ip address is
2.) if you have a router you need to find out (follow me) you desktop ip not the ip address that the website gave you but the ip address your router gives you.... (you can find this by going to start --> run --> type in cmd hit ok --> then type this in with no quotes "ipconfig /all" hit enter it should be somthing like 192.168.1.1XX or 192.168.0.1XX
3.) goto start menu right --> click on my computer --> click on properties --> click on the remote tab --> half way down click the box under remote desktop
4.) goto router and tell it to open port 3390 to your local ip found in part 2
5.) open rdp on pda and type in ip from part 1

your right, i have two computers i got

remote desktop mobile need help

ok so i have a htc snap and i want to remote desktop i have a linksys router and have configured the routr for port forwarding i still cant connect i really need some help
Hy,
what software do you use?
VNC or what else?
its remote desktop mobile RDM it came on my htc snap
What port have you forwarded, and to what IP?
How are you trying to connect, Wi-Fi, 3G etc?
What IP address are you trying to connect to?
I use RDM all the time. I couple it with "Hamachi Mobile" which is a virtual private network VPN app. I log in with Hamachi, it gives me an IP, and I copy/paste whatever PC's IP i want to connect to in RDM... simple as that
Works very well on my Fuze with 3G.
im using port 3389 forward to my computer ip the router gives it i try logging in using my ip addy i get from websites that tell you your ip addy like ipchicken.com but today i went to canyouseeme.com to check port and cant get thru i still am not sure whats going on im very frustrated any help would be appreciated

goodluck
FWIW, I use a program called vncviewer on my Omnia and it works fine. Goes directly to the server seat ip address and I take over that computer. HTH
Make sure in system properties you have checked allow connections from computers running any version of remote desktop and you may need to password protect you computer.
To get real answer just go to ppcgeeks.com this sites has too many annoying people
But what you need to do is go to your linksys page 192.168.1.1
o To Application And Gaming
On the port type in 3389 or start and 3389 for end protocal both and to find out your IP Go To Start - Search Box - Type cmd - Click It - Type "ipconfig" With Out The " " The IPv4 is your IP - Then Click Enable
On Your Phone go to the app
For Computer type in the IP address just got from IPv4
Username of your computer and password of your account
EDIT -- Your problem is you got the wrong IP don't use that IP use the one i showed you on the steps above it should be something like 192.168.*.***
This also helps
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCs4GQma7IQ
But i recommend using realVNC 100x better and with Remote Desktop Mobile you can't use your PC while using it
VNC cost money but if you want a free version just send me a PM
Also if your using vista or Windows 7 its temp. looses your theme when you come back on thats why i use VNC less hassle
Hopes this help remember go to ppcgeeks for answers
try out logmein.com if you have WInMo 6.5 you need to switch the IE back to the old one, its still there you need an app called IEFix.
From IE only:
https://secure.logmein.com/US/pda/Default.asp
Anywayz I love LOGMEIN cuse I can connect to my web servers/home servers and pc's from the same list. and I can monitor when something is offline... RDP and VNC seem faster to navigate, RDP being the fastest, duh?
