[Q] Anyone Know What or How to Use .FFU Files? - Focus General

I have some files that are for the Focus, HD7 and the HD7s that have the extention of .FFU. They look like they are Windows Phone flash files but I don't know how to use them or what tools you could or would use to test them out.
Thoughts?

Anyone have a .ffu file?
Thanks

Heard it before, I know someone who use this to flash. Will you share it then we can see what it is.

BE more specific with details.
When you say files, are you talking about apps or like. zip files? If apps then they are in the app launcher. For other files you need a file explorer like estrong file explorer available on the app market.

What app for extracting rar?

Hi!
I am finding i need to get into & extract rar files. I have root explorer, but it appears as if RE only extracts zips (if i am wrong though, let me know).
If RE does not extract rar archives, what do people use? Looking for something convenient... I would rather not have another file manager since i use RE.
Thanks!

Um, the free app in market called unrar.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
OK.. Thanks... I infer from your response that the answer was maybe obvious....
I saw unrar, but didn't really know if the free app was limited (perhaps by time like the windows version is), and I also didn't think it would work in Root Manager.
But perhaps I should have installed it.. I just knew that installing File Expert or anything else would be ridiculous as I have RE... It annoys me that as RE is the de facto standard file explorer for enthusiasts, and considering that since other file managers have now added this functionality plus since Root Explorer already extracts zip files, I do not understand why the author would not have added this functionality by its current version. Zips are great, but rar files are pretty commonly used as a windows archival format... and obviously gunzips should be supported (actually, I can't remember if it extracts tarballs and gz's...it may)

the windows app doesn't have a limited time afaik
I've used it for years free, no cracks or anything. I think they just encourage you to donate
I use androzip for rar files.
Speaking of which, anyone know of one that can extract multiple RARs at a time into one file? I've tried many but none have that feature from what I saw.

that is what the paid version of winRAR claims it can do.

Yeah that one is good but I was hoping there would be an Android app that could do that.

naa what you need is to download like a stock g1 rom that you KNOW has the sounds your looking for... than you un-zip that file and search in it for a media folder, thats where you'll find the ringtones and notifications sounds.. than you can either add them to another Rom's .zip file which im not sure if that works lol or you can add them to your sd card.. im sure there's other ways too...
The old audio resources can be found here: http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/
And there is an AOSP media pack on the FBL post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929678 ("AOSP media")
Thanks AdamPI. I was ripping my hair out looking for something that would open the nbh files. I really appreciate your help!

Looks like you are using compression to create the zip. You need to zip in a non compressed format...

Verizon Lumia 928 Product Variant Package

Currently downloading Product Variant Package for my new Lumia 928 using Nokia Care Suite. Willing to share if anyone wants to have a look at it.
Let me know or won't waste my time uploading.

I have to ask...what is a "Product variant package?" is it a download with specific customizations for Verizon? Or is it just a traditional ROM?

Here is a screen shot of the files included in the package. Fairly new to this and I know the .ffu file is the update/rom file but not sure what exactly the others are.

I really don't know what we can do with the ffu yet. I can get the phone into the qualcomm msm mode and install the winusb driver, but a hardware developer will need to create an application to interface to it, or someone leak an app that does that from the OEMs. I would like to see whats in it though, I might be able to search for strings relating to the hidden Tier3 app.

Not yet. Nokia hasn't updated their Access Point app yet to support the 928. It will install, but the internet and mms settings are still fixed on Verizon. I also noticed that there isn't a lib version number underneath it either, but there is one for the app version and database version; it won't be too long before it will change though.

The repository isn't locked out, it is though for Navifirm. It works for Nokia Data Package Manager 2012.18.0 and Nokia Care Suite Phone Support Tools for Store 5.0 - 2013.20.5.3. It just needs this:
usergroupsconfiguration.cfg stored in Nokia Care Suite for Store 5.0
Code:
<configuration>
<user_groups default="CareSuite External">
<user_group
name="CareSuite External"
nol="https://www.caresuite.nokia.com/caresuite/get_params.do?application_id=2"
posti="https://www.caresuite.nokia.com/caresuite/CareSuite"
authentication_needed="0"/>
<user_group
name="Care Pro"
nol="https://www.care.update.nokia.com/caresuite/get_params.do?application_id=2"
posti="https://www.care.update.nokia.com/caresuite/CareSuite"
authentication_needed="1"/>
</user_groups>
</configuration>
I got them from http://www.winphoneviet.com/forum/index.php?threads/38088/
They are links to the files on the Nokia server. The ffu is 4.01 gigs.
I also finally used ffutool from the dev forum on this rom. I'm trying to find a place to upload the VHD file compiled. There are some carrier specific xaps in there.
Awesome, thanks for the help. What exactly is the change you've seen in it?

Same as "stock" rom. Mounted the update .ffu and double checked
and same registry settings on both. If you flashed the update the .ffu should still be in your ProgramData\Nokia\Packages folder.
