[Q] Unable to go into Fastboot mode - Xperia Play General

I¨m trying to instal a new system rom, however i cant do into fastboot mode, i turn the phone off, hold the search button, then plug the usb cable...
the sony ericsson logo appears, and then a battery image, thats it
not sure where the problem is, first i thought it needs a battery charge however battery was 61% (from what i recall from my nexus it asked at least 50% to install a rom...
Also i have the pc companion software, which is asking me to install version 3.0.1.A.0.145
would this be same same as the UK ftf thats around the forum, or installing from pc companion will keep my root out of the phone?
thanks in advance, and hint is appreciated!!

Have you installed the fastboot drivers

I actually read that post prior to post my own, and its not the same problem, since i have SEUS installed, along with the drivers that comes with fastboot, and also the PC Companion...
so i dont think its a matter of drivers, when the SE appears on the screen, the computer make the classic noise of a device connecting through USB, and i have no error messages...

The SE should not appear at all, the screen should stay black with a blue light where the power button is, have you ever used fastboot? are you sure the drivers are installed?

this could sound stupid, but i find out where the problem was...
on the sony website, when you ask for the unlock bootloader code, it gives you instructions to hold the menu button, or on the play hold the search...
well, after try an error i found out the the button to press was the back button!!
now i installed the UK 145 firmware, and waiting for it to boot to install the FTS V.05 rom

for some reason the flashtool takes it, however now that i want to use fastboot, the light is always green, and never turns blue...
how long im suppsed to press the back button?
no matter what i do, it keeps getting the green light instead of blue, however i dont know how in the hell the flashtool installed the firmware (check on the phone settings and its installed and changed the phone version from R800a to R800i
I changed the USB port, and the SEMC driver installed again automatically, so its not a matter of drivers, its something else...

after reading and reading and reading, i couldnt find the reason for my problem...
The flashtools worked with the back button, however i read on every blog that the button to hold is the search one...
however the search button is the only one who gives me the SE logo and then the battery charging logo...
maybe this means that i have the access to fastboot locked? my phone is a Rogers Branded phone...
PLEASE SOME HELP ON THIS!! now i have a clean phone, but with no chance to backup since root isnt working on 2.3.3

You can only unlock the bootloader on factory unlocked (unbranded) devices

I never used a Sony device, but on htc phones you have to disable fastboot in the settings before you can boot into it. It is under the applications section in settings on my phone.

Sigh.
In Flashtool, you use the BACK button.
In Fastboot, you use the SEARCH button.
You have NOT read the documentation, or you would not go telling us that Fastboot is toggled with the BACK button.
Had you bothered to read a bit around here, you'd know that phones which come carrier-locked are NOT able to access Fastboot at all.

The problem is that the xperia play forum is a mess, there is not many contributors, therefore not many guides, all info is just laying around and its not easy to put everything together...
Ive read a lot and there is no single piece of information telling you that, in fact, there is a guide to check if the bootloader could be unlocked or not, and it doesnt mention that fastboot is not accesible on branded phones, it tells that you if dont get certain code with a fastboot command, then its not unlockeable...
Now i need to revert my firmware to 2.3.2, is there any possible solution using a tft file? cause all i checked are 2.3.3
thanks in advance, i dont want to be stuck on 2.3.3 without root (at least want to leave my phone as it was with titanium backup)

[Q] Potencial Hard Brick - Help

OK. I am just gonna start this with: I AM STUPID!
Anyway, I was toying with my X8, all happy of my Android. I was in xRecovery, happy to know that I was going to install FroyoBread v007 (irrelevant to know, really), and I saw "Partition Options". "WHAT'S THIS?!" I go into that and see that I could delete /system, so I felt like doing it. *Applies anti-flame* After that, I was like "Oh man, xRecovery is not detecting my FroyoBread v007 .zip, just the v006!!!" "Let's reboot it!" After that... well... brick.
Current Situation:
I turn on, all that appears is "Sony Ericsson".
If I try SEUS (On PC Companion) or FlashTool, they don't seem to recognize the phone.
xRecovery, obviously, not there, since it was in /system/bin
Question: Is there ANY WAY (excluding taking it back to the store) to get my phone back working? (Even if it involves going back to the stock Flash, like I care!!!!)
Note: I am sorry if there's a thread already containing information to solve this problem in this forum. I am a bit in PANIC! I would appreciate that people don't pro-flame me for deleting the /system directory or for not adequately search for a thread that has the information I might need. In case of the existence of such, please redirect me to it so I can obtain an important piece of information in the world we know as Modding. Thank you for your consideration.

First of all, it's normal that SEUS won't recognize your phone, cuz it has NO software, so just select your phone model, and even if it sais unknown phone, proceed to update, it will fully restore SE android 2.1 , it worked for me

I think I did not emphasize enough on the OP that I am STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPID!
I just figured it out. On SEUS I was doing something wrong. I was powering the phone on then holding back and then plugging the USB.
Yup. That's me. Probably gonna be around more.
Dude, restart pc, reinstal gordon gate flash drivers, restart again
Now connect to another usb port and voila! Flash it using shakira.

[TUT]How to unbrick Xperia Arc

If your phone won't boot up (it's stuck at Sony Ericsson boot screen) and you can't get into recovery either, that means you bricked your Xperia.
You may think that you are screwed, but if your PC can recognise your phone when it's powered off (don't try booting it before connecting to PC!) I have an easy solution for you!
What you need to do is download UpdateService (Find it on Sony's site), and install it.
Don't run it just yet.
Than, connect your phone to your PC and when Windows checks it, run UpdateService (thing you downloaded)
Than, UpdateService will do firmware checking and in a minute you should be able to see it updating your phone to a newest firmware (.62 right now).
Now, this will take a few minutes, and when it's done phone will start booting, that also might take up to 5 minutes.
When it's done, you have your phone working again!
*This works only if you have your bootloader locked!
**You will lose all of your apps, so I hope you know what you had!
does not always work , but it is a good option to fix the phone
Since the pc recognizes the phone and the update service thing is not available anymore so we can even try to flash new firmware manually, by fastboot or flashtools! And what if one is already running the latest firmware, will update service still work?
If i helped you, hit the thanks button!
Xperia Arc |Acronium 7.2| |DooMkernel v19|
Sony Update Service (previously SEUS) is available here. Current version 2.11.12.5.

First of all, when you are running your phone on the latest update, you can't use this process to unbrick/update your phone. So my guess here is, this post is rendered useless to people who have updated their phones to the latest update.

Phone stuck in Downloading via Odin, what to do?

Trying to root to use a certain app, was going to use the root method Root de la Vega, but I have no idea what it's on about, so found a different method. But it got stuck on the 'Downloading' screen. Odin just says Cache. Should I try powering the phone down or what?
Well, I gave up and held down the power button. Now says Firmware update failed, use Kies. Should I do something through Odin or download kies
Well, I finally got the phone to boot up. But it's still not rooted, and I have no idea what crap I have just put on it with trying 2 different unsuccessful root attempts back to back. What root should I try next, seeing as the above mentioned one makes no sense to me.
Look around

I have tried reading for hours. I just got more confused. That thread specifically says it is not a guide. And I have no idea what a 'terminal' is. Hyperterminal?!
Anyway, I am in the process of trying CF Auto Root, as I think my Knox thing is void anyway now.

[Hardbrick] Oneplus 2 Only fastboot, OEM and device locked.

So, as this is my first ever thread to this website and the reason why i have created this account, I am somewhat new to the XDA forums...
Nevertheless, i will state my problem here:
Right now, my phone and my limited knowledge about it have come to an dead end. with the help of online tutorials and so on, (I have downloaded almost 40 gigabytes worth of space to do stuff to my phone), i was able to only get the fastboot mode to work again.
It started with me uninstalling a system app from google (I don't know which one exactly, but i had the resurrection remix 5.69 or something like it, and in that ones system app remover it was one of the lowest google apps). I don't know if this is important, but at the time i did that i was in plane mode.
After some time i ran into some loading issues with games and restarted my phone. the first time i got in, i booted up normally and could do my pattern normally, but then there was only a black screen and i could pull that info bar thing down. as soon as i wanted to open the settings, everything froze and i decided to restart the phone. Once it was shut down i then got greeted by a bootloop which i aborted by shutting down after about 3 minutes. then nothing was working anymore, so i wanted to see if the fastboot mode was still available. it was, but after shutting down from that and trying again ( just to be sure) even that was gone.
so i went online and downloaded basically everything you can find online to recover a harbricked op2.
turns out, after i got my fastboot working again, the OEM and the device were locked (still not sure if those are different things or the same) and because i couldnt get in the android system, i could not enable it.
the ADB commands do not work at all because there is no device detected for it, though it is detected for fastboot. the command fastboot OEM unlock does not work because OEM unlocking is disabled...
so far i have been able to connect my phone in 3 modes and names for those, them being:
Android Bootloader interface (Fastboot)
Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 900E (Connected while holding VolUp)
RELINK HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (Connected while holding VolUp + VolDown)
I am also unable to flash anything on the phone because the OEM is locked
I will not be able to answer for some time (probably 2-3 weeks) but i wanted to start this thread so I could already have an answer when i come back home again (traveling with fam, and its somewhat hard to take a PC tower with you on trips)
Thanks for helping me! :fingers-crossed:
I'm having the exact same issue as OP.
I'm not sure exactly what I did, but I can only boot to fastboot. Typing fastboot continue does not work, I can't flash ANYTHING or use any of the recovery tools, because my device is locked, and there's no system to boot to so I can run fastboot oem unlock (have to turn on debugging, which I can't do). I have read just about every guide there is, and also downloaded a boatload of purported "fix" tools/drivers/packages. My phone remains able to boot only into fastboot, and I can't get anything working.
Installing the device drivers did work for me, so I'm about half a step ahead of some other people with this issue, but none of the tools or scripts I've found, or manual methods, have brought my OP2 back to life.
I'm really, really hoping someone here is able to help with this.

Oh, it is that one. I had already tried this one, in all listed modes posted above. The problem with that one is that everytime I hit the start button, the green progress bar does not show up and it does not a single thing... because I am staying at a place with a internet café for 3 days, I can download some stuff and try it again.
EDIT: I don't know if that was the reason It didn't work, but I may or may not have forgotten to install the driver because it was deleted off the onedrive page and I just forgot about it afterwards. if I can find a replacement for it, I will ink it here for future users with the same problem. otherwise, I would be GLaD if someone would do that for me...

Not sure on these questions. I believe it is stock. I bought it from an acquaintance that said he was just upgrading. He showed me it working. I got it a week later and its doing this. Trying to see if its fixable before addressing him. I believe it was stock and with oreo. I just know he was saying its the new android 1 and for 2 years of updates.

Hi, you'll need to unlock the Bootloader first, which is not possible ( i think ) as Nokia does not allow this as yet, for most devices. On my 6.1 OEM unlocking is greyed out and Nokia just said stay tuned when I asked to get an unlock key. Can you get into Fastboot mode - hold Vol down and power ( while you have a usb connected to power / pc )??

It might be worth trying a factory reset FIRST, which could work.. follow this - https://www.hardreset.info/devices/nokia/nokia-61-plus/recovery-mode/
Let me know how you go

I tried all of this in the youtube video I posted. is like it doesnt have a boot loader information on it. It seems as thought there is zero software in there excpept for the android one screen and the amount of battery life when its off. When not plugged in I get absolutely zero response from the phone, even though its 100% charged. Is there a way I can put something on a memory card and try to access it from there into boot mode, or maybe use some software to access the phones internals to install through a computer usb?

Sorry I missed that, I thought you had to be doing something wrong. I've never been in this sort position & I've been flashing phones for years, anyway, I'm a bit lost as to what to do next. Without a care centre to help, i can not find any other way to get that phone to boot. As every method I know and have read about, requires an unlocked bootloader and or getting into download mode or the recovery. The Nokia online service tool (ost), requires an unlocked bootloader to flash firmware. Also if the PC does not recognise the phone is another issue.
I will keep looking into how to correct this issue & if I find anything, I'll let you know.
This maybe worth reading, as it may hold a solution

I've doing some reading... https://www.getdroidtips.com/nokia-6-1-plus-stock-firmware/
and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR5-x5iAEls
https://www.techmesto.com/download-nokia-online-service-tool-6-0-4-for-all-phones/
I know its not related to your device specifically, though its interesting. If we can get official OST LA software and someone's log in details, we can flash firmware to Nokia's with locked bootloaders... I'll be back in touch soon.

Great! I have hope once again! Why doesnt this apply to my phone? They all reference the nokia x6 or 6.1 plus. I will attempt these steps and see if any success or change occurs while awaiting your response.

I also found this tool, to flash firmware ( .nbo files ) - https://androidmtk.com/use-sut-l3-tool going to have a look for some firmware for you.
This is one option - https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6-2018/help/nokia-x6-nokia-6-1-plus-global-rom-t3822657
I thought i shared a link about other models, with the same issue ( soft brick ). I was wrong.

I have been reading, others are reporting, getting into recovery mode can be difficult.
When phone is on connect with USB cable to PC. Turn phone off, immediately press volume up button after this. Wait for the little Android to appear. Press power + volume down to access the recovery menu. -> this might take a few tries cause you have to be really precise, but this was the same on my Nexus 5X.
When you have time and patience, could you try to get into recovery again.

I got the ost installed but I either dont have proper firmware or the phone is that bricked that it will not accept any boot. The image shows the result I get.
Does anyone have any or know of any functional firmware for this phone?
