Just bought a Samsung Focus used, but SIM/Carrier unlocked, Update-7390. The previous owner mentioned about replacing the battery for the Phone.
Is there any other way to determine whether the phone is rev 1.3 or rev 1.4 ?
I've read on the forums that the downgrade only works on rev 1.3.
Thanks !
The revision # is printed on a label underneath the battery on the phone, not on the battery. So, take the battery out and take a look.
Revision 1.4 phones are not capable of receiving 7390 NoDo update. So likely your phone is rev 1.3 or earlier.

I've also got a Focus from Rogers, and there's nothing like a "rev:" or "revision:" on the white label under the battery. The only items listed are Model, FCC ID, IC, IMEI, S/N, UPC, and on the same like as the S/N, there's a "10.11".

Yes Thank You,
Found the revision it's 1.3.
Will post a picture soon, so others can know where to look for it.
It shows like 'Rev. 1.3' on the label. Can't speak for Canandian versions of Focus. They may not have this printed on like the AT&T versions do. They also run different firmware than AT&T version.
Focus from Rogers (Canada) doesn't have the revision anywhere under the battery. Here's a photo of what it looks like (note: IMEI and SN have been edited):

In Diagnosis (##634# in Dialer), enter *#32489#
press Back button on the screen 4 times (lower right)
until you see:
1. debug screen
2. version information
3.....
here, type 2 (version information)
after, select 2 (HW VERSION)
after, select 1 (READ HW VERSION)
Mine is "REV1.3"

just got mine in -
hadn't thought about it - but the ZAGGs are cut for the asian/european versions of the i9000 with the trackpad thingee at the bottom of the phone
and the Vibrant doesn't have that trackpad
not a biggee but i'd have preferred it correct
just thought i'd pass on so at least others are aware BEFORE they order
not sure what you mean...
both the UK/World version and North America / Canadian version looks the same to me
Galaxy S GT-I9000
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/.../GT-I9000HKDXEU/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail
Galaxy S Vibrant GT-9000 (missing the "I" for international, replaced by "Vibrant" as in localized versions different software, etc)
http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/...ABMC/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&returnurl=
China/Asia (wow i'm amazed i figured out which buttons to click to get that page )
http://www.samsung.com/hk/consumer/.../GT-I9000HKATGY/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail
according to their localized version of their PDF manual GT-I9000_UM_HongKong_Eng_Rev1.0_100611.pdf it is also the same I9000 model as Europe/UK
Regardless, it's good that you mention it, because i'm also planing to put on a ZAGG when my I9000 arrives (it's still on the snail mail system)
so if you have having fitment problem, i'm some what concerned at getting one for my phone.
you're 3rd link http://www.samsung.com/hk/consumer/m...ype=prd_detail
has the trackpad or square button at the bottom (it may not be a trackpad)
and when i went and viewed the video of the samsung demo at whatever show they announced it at, there was a triangular button at the bottom
first it starts off showing the rectangular button the, at approx 0:26 in the video you see one with the triangular button
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kCdF6wrNYk
i took a fast & dirty shot of it

and in fact now that i look at it again, there are cutouts for the FFC camera - but not sure i like the way they executed the cutouts
i'll post another shot in a second
and the top end of the protector
That's correct. The T-Mobile Vibrant doesn't have the central button and replaces it with four capacitive buttons instead of the 2 capacitive + 1 center button as seen on the I9000.
In short, the Zagg shield was designed for the I9000 and not the US Variants (Vibrant/Fascinate) even though they may share the same "body" style.
Give them a few days/weeks and you'll see a proper shield for those versions
New app "(Samsung) High Fidelity Position" available in Marketplace seems to enable GLONASS support for (even better) GPS tracking.

Can't find it. Is that a cechz locale?
Seems it's not in the marketplace anymore, strange.
hmm :/
I *really* would have liked to look at THAT XAP file...
Would you be so nice and give us a rough translation of the two options in the screenshot?
Here's an English version:
Unfortunately, I do not have XAP either, it was direct download and install through Marketplace.
I can confirm, I downloaded it from marketplace when i saw this post, but now the app disappeared
there's italian language too

I rebooted my phone yesterday and it's there now , wasn't before
thanks to geronimo_cz, this app did not disapear completely - enjoy this XAP: http://www.uloz.to/10189517/high-fidelity-position-v1-0-0-0-xap
IMO it does nothing - at least nothing significant. No difference in accuracy or speed...
Possible reason was greatly described by user Tomula on czech forum here: http://smartmania.mobilmania.cz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=155&t=25992&p=222286#p222286
He found, that Qualcommu Snapdragon QSD8250 in Omnia does definitely not have GLONASS support, so this app is probably for future devices with new GPS chip. Some sources are mentioned by him:
https://developer.qualcomm.com/discover/chipsets-and-modems/snapdragon
https://www.facebook.com/snapdragon/posts/189045881143225
v1.1: http://hotfile.com/dl/129241773/5affdde/high_fidelity_position_v1.1.0.0.xap.html
I'd love to have been in their office that day.
"Its uploaded now sir, all the Omnia 7 fans will get GLONASS support"
"Excellent."
*5 minutes later*
"TAKE IT DOWN TAKE IT DOWN, WE PUT TOO CHEAP A PART IN THE PHONE!"
Getting our hopes up like that. It's just shameful.
I receved update from marketplace
if glonass probably doesn't work, sure the first option works
They put the XAP to settings with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17376642
I'm curious how the Glonass can work without a firmware update, doesn't it need different hardware/firmware?
Read the thread again - it was already mentioned, Omnia 7 lacks support of GLONASS in its chipset. This tool is probably designed for future device, but the first option (using aditional device sensors) may still work on Omnia 7.
With current firmware and drivers, it probably does not do anything - functional drivers for compass will come with official Mango release.
It's funny how there were some people who noticed "a substantial improvement".
So much for the placebo effect
when i installed it the 1st time i didn't notice big improvements, but after receiving the update i mentioned in my previous post, Bing maps started to point always north as I set in the preferences and the position was more accurate than before.
Here is the new version, 1.2.0.0: http://www.ulozto.cz/10339233/high-fidelity-position-v1-2-0-0-xap

Can't tell from the video's software can easily be faked + theres very little showiong apart from boot :S very suspicious...
are these video's the facebook guys videos?
easiest way to check
Ask for the IMEI number ( and not just a number... ask for proof of the IMEI on the device Screen&back of the device)
TIP - The IMEI is in settings - about device - status - IMEI information
its a 15 digit code.
and then check it here http://www.imei.info/
that will tell you what phone it is.
Failing that get him to upload pictures of each side of the device.(the device looks are a big give away if fake) the IMEI should be on the back of the phone anyway
as you can see here -

however i would not reccomend buying a phone from anywhere apart from official dealers
too many scams involved its just not worth the discount.
If you have to ask the question, then it's probably already a bad decision.
Also if it's a stolen phone IMEI will show valid till carrier shuts it down so make sure u know the person or can hold him accountable
AndroIDentity is an app that can tell the real ID of a device. If run on a fake phone it will not be recognized as a genuine one, and if the fake is on its database, it will tell what the real manufacturer and model it is. Besides, it also identifies several other hardware and software parameters (such as the presence of Knox, JAva VM runtime, memory, screen size, and several other parameters) that will also help identifying if the device is Genuine or not. AndroIDentity recognizes 15,950 devices.

Hi there, just purchased a new S8 today form an Asian electonics market. Seems to have some form of modifled XFINITY mobile software on it as the phone boots with the XFINITY logo and the carrier says XFINITY even though I am on a local network.
I have posted some info below on the software version but would be usfull to see if anybody had seen a version like this before and if they had any issues with it.
Happy to post any other details if it helps

Download Phone INFO(Samsung app) from play store and it will have more info and also find out exact model #. By the screenshot I see it says G950U and it seems to be US model.

Thanks guys, see below for screenshots from the app:
Seems to look fine, but curious what is tricking the phone to work with another sim but still displaying XFINITY as the carrier.
Looks like you bought a phone that was originally from Xfinity Mobile(us carrier). Pics aren't loading (might be my phone tbh), so can't say much more lol.
Hi,
does anyone encounter this bootloader exception that has pure red letters (no greens like others) and any combination like Vol - plus home plus power ain't working and other key combination?
I also drained the battery and after plugging in, the bootloader exception just appears with other text but still pure red letters, still no response.
I cannot flash anything because I cannot enter download mode. Is there any way which I can do? Please see below for the reference picture.
(I have posted a new thread since the other thread has access on download mode and everything)
