SE bootloader unlocking - XPERIA X10 General

hi guys
SE post how to unlock bootloader but its not for all phones does anyone try it in his x10
http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions

I believe it the bootloader has not been unlocked its just fake

Well, no one knows if all the maxfron and the_laser hype was about REAL bootloader unlocking.
Things were like this:
1. the_laser posted here that maxfron found a security hole in the Qualcomm chipsets (one of which is X10's motherboard) that once exploited, allows flashing a new, different, unsigned bootloader. That means that we could -in theory- flash a new, modified bootloader that would give access and total freedom as far as kernels/OS etc are concerned.
2. As a result of the said modified bootloader, we would gain access to the place where sim-lock is stored, so this method could be used for sim-unlocking your phone, without an unlock code or any hardware tampering.
3. Then maxfron appeared in the forums, in a clearly unstable mental state and started flaming the_laser, who replied accordingly.
4. As a result they were both banned. Prior to the ban, none of them released a working method for bootloader unlock, nor made it clear if they will and if it will be a paid service.
5. All in all, no unlocked bootloader for us. Whether it will happen or not, we don't know.
That's about it.

I believe max really found something big, but i don't know if it was bootloader unlock. If you look for older posts, max used to be helpful and a nice guy back when he, z, goroh,bin4ry, hunteronX and some others were still trying to crack bootloader. That's what irritates me the most. But his last posts before the ban were only offensive and plain stupid flaming. Very curious what caused that change... When the_laser first started his thread i didn't have the feeling that he and max are enemies. But max jumped straight on his neck and called him names. Again, i don't want to take sides because i don't know what happened behind the scenes, i just want to understand.

It's just that you drew a very vivid picture there, I was kind of speechless!
But yes, no bootloader unlock for us at present...

Hi Guy's,
i had some contact with Max after the thread was closed down and asked to clarify the situation with the bootloader as with all the fuss that kicked off he at least owed us all a explanation.
without posting a personal pm he said regarding the bootloader...
He stated Sony will punish anybody who will release it and it is the same story with geohot and the playstation and he is not ready to fight sony yet, he did however say one day it will be released one way or another but not sure if it would be free.
He is now keeping his head down and hopes to become a mod so he can post the bootloader without fear of flaming from said persons, his words not mine.
I did ask some more questions that would have helped clear things up but never got a reply so that was the last contact i recieved, personally i do not think he's a bad guy just has alot of anger inside him in what happened.
I know it does not clarify things in anyway but at least there may be some hope yet for the bootloader.

Isn't it Qualcomm the ones who should be after Maxfron? This is not a SE specific security hole, so kind of not their problem, the way I see it.

That's a very good and valid point.

Sony wont care at all about the bootloader been hacked if that's the excuse given.
Why would they open the bootloader to all the current xperia line and battle to keep the old line locked.
Does not make no sense at all.
He could release it anonymously without taking credit if he so frightened rikard will hunt him down

x8 Bootloader unlocked [Officially]

Hi guys
here is a comment posted earlier by the_laser.

wait for user friendly tool with one big button.
here ( Attachment 712577 ) is toolset to permanently "unlock" semcboot of msm7227 semc phones.
that means, you can use own kernel and so on.
steps,precautions, etc.
unpack archive to any directory.
if you using eset antivirus or similar ****, it will find evil virus in adb.exe.
ignore that, it is not virus in any way, it is standard android debug bridge, bundled in one file to save space and usability.
now, if your phone unlocked officially:
flash phone with standard 2.0,2.1 android firmware, because kernel mapper module compiled for "2.6.29" kernel.
of course, enable "usb debugging"
run msm7227_semc.cmd,
( if you want, examine it before run, it is pretty straightforward. )
you will get similar output
Code:
process requires standard 2.x android firmware.
Press any key to continue . . .
Getting ROOT rights.
1743 KB/s (585731 bytes in 0.328s)
error: protocol fault (no status)
Waiting ...
Removing NAND MPU restrictions via SEMC backdoor. Permanent. Require ROOT rights.
192 KB/s (3087 bytes in 0.015s)
success
Waiting ...
Getting ROOT rights.
Waiting ...
Writing patched semcboot. Two step process
First, we need get access to semcboot area
504 KB/s (8064 bytes in 0.015s)
Second, we need to write semcboot
1130 KB/s (596916 bytes in 0.515s)
successfully wrote 0003ff00
Press any key to continue . . .
bingo, your phone now has unlocked bootloader.
if your phone unlocked by setool2 software, use msm7227_setool2.cmd
if your phone unlocked by 3rd-party software other than setool2, do not run anything -
it will disable radio capability of your phone and you will need to unlock phone by setool2 software.
hopefully, mizerable flea and mOxImKo will release something similar for your phone.
okay, now about other details.
1.
unlocked bootloader require unlocked loader, yep ?
loader\loader.sin is special unlocked loader, which will be accepted ONLY after your "unlock" semcboot with previous steps.
to distinguish unlocked semcboot and original semcboot, first letter in version tag of semcboot output will be lower case, i. e. "r8A029"
( same applies for loader version tag )
so, all that stuff with signatures are not for us, so i removed them - loader will ignore signature part of SIN file.
2.
we should make SIN file somehow, right ?
for that i prepared "dumb" bin2sin utility.
[input] - is input binary file.
[partition info]
android implementation on s1 semc qualcomm phones based on partitions,so we MUST define it for our file.
you can get required partition info from standard semc sin files, it is first 0x10 bytes of DATA, right after header, i.e.
[type] - partition type, 9 - partition without spare, 0xA - partition with spare.
kernel partition is partition without spare.
if that parameter omitted, type = 9
[block size] - nand block size, if omitted, it is standard size 0x20000
there is example in sinTools\example_build.cmd
3.
kernel should be prepared specially to be accepted by semcboot.
for that there is tool bin2elf.
we need 2 segments:
segment 1 is unpacked linux kernel image, i.e.
( e10/kernel/arch/arm/boot/Image )
it looks like entrypoint and load address for segment 1 is always same for all msm7227-based semc phone, it is 0x00208000
attributes for image 0x0
segment 2 is ramdisk.
it looks like entrypoint and load address for segment 1 is always same for all msm7227-based semc phone, it is 0x01000000
set attributes for ramdisk 0x80000000, that is extremly important.
there is simple kernel example in sinTools\example_build.cmd
ps.
@blagus:
NAND MPU disabler has only one relation to rFoNe - he took it from setool2, together with entire idea for msm7227 bypass.
your 6-wings friend with many nicks done exactly same.
NAND MPU has nothing to do with memory firewall, so it will not help with kexec things, however, who will care now.

Why is it always a third party releasing information that the bootloader has been opened????
The guy(s) who actually opens it will post it on their own, as there is money and fame to claim....and I am pretty sure they know how BIG the news is.
Z said he'd be away these days, so I wouldn't read too much into his current absence.
I really don't understand why the unlocking of the bootloader can't be as simple as "I did it, here's how".
Is only the X8 bootloader unlocked, will the X10's be too?
Has anyone successfully followed the procedure already?
Before hurrying to spread the "news", we should first make sure they are legit. We've been wrong before, all I'm saying...
Xperia X10i via Tapatalk
I could be wrong but he has posted all the essential files to do it yourself...
Blagus just said that the bootloader should work on x10 mini, x10 mini pro, x8 .....BUT not the X10...or so it isn't listed.
maybe the_laser is going to release a separate one...or maybe z is...but he said he wasn't involved in the bootloader crack just knows that the x10 was cracked.
Sometimes, I feel jealous of the X8.
Its come to x10

Unlock bootloader 11w30+ 100% assured read

Hello friends,
Are you one of those guys who are pissed of that they can't unlock their bootloader because of the stupid manufacturing date?
Well be pissed of no more because that is solved!
I was scrolling around the internet and I came across this guy!
http://unlock-bootloader.com/
Alejandrissimo is what he would like be addressed as.
Basically this guy unlocks your bootloader for only 24 usd assured 100%. He has over countless pages of testimonials (there was even one person that unlocked 11w40) and i am a 12w user and I just unlocked mine and I am happy as hell!
Basically this guy expects you to download his files which is on the website and have a paper clip just incase.
There is NO EFFORT to it WHAT SO EVER even my grandma could do it and she doesn't even speak english!
What you will have to do is just be connecting your phone back and forth to the usb and having to click back button multiple times but in the end it all pays of =D
You will also need to revert back to stock firmware 2.1 and you basically I was on GDX 2.3.7 and I lost EVERYTHING but i'm actually happy cause I backed up my aps and I get to do this anew with no more mistakes
So? What are you waiting for? Those kernels aren't gonna install themselves =P
If you need any questions I'll answer them i've personally went through this so have fun!
I came across that guy aswell.. even contacted him once and he actually replied. But I bricked my phone few days before that one so he couldnt help me. The problem is the money :SS.. dont you think thats a little bit too much just to unlock the bootloader?
People who want to risk please try to unlock bootloader with flashtool!"

You think wrong. Flashtool just automates the process and simplifies it, it still uses the original msm7227 files provided by the_laser. Both are as safe, but Flashtool is more noob-friendly and reduces the chance of human error.
Also, hard brick on 11W29+ devices is caused by revamped chipset that fixes the security hole that the original BL unlock uses. This means, the phone will effectively have no bootloader after BL unlock on fixed chipset devices and thus the phone is now a hard brick.

Lol don't blame the tool if human error led to you having sim card issues, sounds like you used the wrong file to me . As I said, flashtool reduces the occurrence of human error as it automates everything, but it is a little strict IMO.

Actually, setool can unlock bootloader with any manufacturing date...be it 11w40 or 12w**...
So why do you have to pay for a guy when there is a tool to do it?
It has the same point, you pay for the guy or you buy setool credits..and setool is more reliable coz its created by the same person who made it possible to unlock our bootloader for 11w26 downwards..

Listen,
You guys can do whatever you want with your phone fine by me but I was assured NOT to unlock my bootloader if it was manufactured after the dates of 11w30+ so I wouldn't really risk trying out ANYTHING except for this guy.
He has numerous testominals and in my opinion if you want to keep going with your phone for people who can't unlock their bootloader this is what you need =D
So it's all up to you in the end. This guy is guaranteed 100% he just lacks to reply sometimes for queries but when you say your going to co operate with him he will reply to any query whilst doing it. So in my honest opinion the 24 bucks was worth it.
Have fun guys

[Guide] Unlocking bootloader on operator branded phones via omnius

Hi all,
If you have a locked bootloader on a branded phone (for example, from Rogers) normal BL (bootloader) unlocking methods will not work. Fortunately, there is a way to unlock your bootloader - it will, however, cost money.
I have a very good experience with Omnius. The program is simple and fast, and the whole process of unlocking the bootloader took less than 3 minutes. Here is how I did it:
go to Omnius downloads, and download Omnius for SE.
Install it. The installation includes all the drivers you need for this process.
Now you need to purchase credits. You can use any of the re-sellers listed here. I personally used GSMServer single unlock licence for 19 USD.
After about a day, you will get an email with username and password. This is your new Omnius account that has enough credits for one unlock. (I am not sure if it is only for BL unlock or also for SIM unlock.. It definitely works for BL unlock though.)
1. Now start Omnius. In the upper left corner choose your SE model.
2. In the server settings, enter the username and password you got from the reseller of your choice.
3.Next click on "Unlock", and select "Unlock bootloader". A picture guide appears that is super easy to follow - it tells you where the test point is, what to do, what to press, when to remove battery, everything. Few seconds later, your bootloader is unlocked!
Hope this worked for you guys!!
(I am in no way affiliated with Omnius, or any resellers listed on their website. I am simply summing up my experience, as I know that BL unlocking for branded phones is a bit of a problem. I hope I did not break any XDA rules by posting a guide involving a paid service!)
Does it void warranty ?

Yes it does. But I should have mentioned - this method LEAVES ALL DRM UNTOUCHED, so that by simply relocking BL nobody can find out you did anything with your phone I had my phone in repair 3 times, every single time with unlocked bootloader. I had no problem so far
I just rooted. Does it void warranty instead ?

Rooting doesn't void your warranty. Only unlocking your bootloader voids it.

Don't matter, Sony don't recommend rooting, but it will not void warranty.

Best choise!
Does this require any special cable to be used for the test point method? I have seen people just use a paperclip but then I have also seen people use a cable attached to their USB cable, so I am not 100% sure on what I need to use.

Nothing special; a paperclip will do.

Ah that's great! thanks one other question, is it the same method for the arc s? is this method done 100% by me and not by someone connected to my computer? like I have seen some people do.
So what do I need to do specifically to unlock it? Will I have to open my phone up or do I just plug my USB cable in? Also will it be unlocked for good? If I update or downgrade firmwares will it remain unlocked?

I think I can answer the last two questions but someone correct me if im wrong xD you need to open up a tab on the back of the phone underneath the sim card holder to reveal "test points" you will then use them to put your phone in a certain mode which allows you to unlock the boot loader. im also sure that the boot loader if separate from the firmware so once you have unlocked it then it is unlocked for good. im not 100% sure how to do it though because I have seen so many different ways and its just got me confused haha.
Is it ok/enough for the process? http://www.gsmserver.com/shop/gsm/omnius_one_day_full_license.php

Hmm I am not sure. I think you need also some credits for the unlocking.
my xperia arc s ic carrier branded (sim lock) and in service meni is bootloader unlock allowed: no ... can i unlock my bootloader with omnius without sim unlocking it and will i have enabled fastboot
Yup, that's what this does. It will unlock the bootloader on your phone.
Btw I feel that you should have fastboot working even now without unlocking.
why do you feel this
Further unlocks
Hi there,
I have one question.
I have read a lot of threads about unlocking the bootloader of branded phones, and I haven't found an answer for this question.
Let's say I buy my credits and all, and then I go and unlock the bl, wonderful, but then let's say that I need to send my phone to warranty. So I lock the bl again. Then my phone comes back and I want to unlock the bl again, do I need to buy credits to do it again? Or will the credits I bought on the first time will suffice for the same phone over and over?
Thanks btw for this thread, helped a lot.
Thank you!

I didn't try it. I'm installing ADB driver right now, but Sony gave me unlock key etc. So I thought I was okay, keep u in touch.
EDIT : I don't know why but my computer is unable to detect JDK, so i can't install the SDK. Anyway, according to this serious french website, Sony opens the bootloader for everyone, so maybe someone can try it.
I don;t think this will be possible for not unlockable devices. Let me know, if it works.
Its the same situation as always. All Sony did was refresh the page. You still need to have an unlock-able bootloader to unlock.
You wasted my time now i must destroy you.. LOL!
Confirming this doesn't work when it says you can't unlock your bootloader. It does give you an unlock code though.
by everyone you should mean people with unlockable devices.
no one has cracked a non unlockable sony bootloader since 2011

And by saying unlockable it means you have to buy the device from the Sony Store !! you can't unlock a sony phone if it's not from their store RIP LockedBootloaders

You lose DRM. So back up TA partition prior to unlocking. A few Sony apps will cease to work if you don't back up and you'll lose warranty in case you want to go back to stock.

(Q) Need some Advice (bootloader)

Hey guys i need some advice/help.
I returned my phone because of some screen issues and when it came back i noticed something strange, before returning my phone i already had unlocked my bootloader so i wanted to check if this still was the case. So i booted in to the bootloader screen and noticed the the device status had changed to an engineering device (see picture).
So now the questions what can i do with a engineering device or what does it mean, is my bootloader still unlocked or do i need to unlock it again or will unlocking it again remove the engineering status.
Christ! Engineering Bootloader haha...
What happens when you do OEM Unlock?

I wouldn't do that. This might change the status from Engineering to Unlocked and he might never be able to change it back to Engineering again.
I think this is a status that is reserved for servicing the phone and allows engineers to do all sorts of things to the phone, even more than what can be done when Unlocked.
I hope some dev can shed some light on this.
The Holy F-ing Grail!!!! LOL

Guessing when they were working on it they forgot to relock it for customer status. Someone might pay you good money for that device.
