Could some one post a list of safe bloat to remove/freeze after the 2.3.3 update on our Xperia Plays please.
Seriously? There's a stickied topic for it... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046699

Seriously, yes. That list was made using 2.3.2, the new update 2.3.3 added some new features and I'd like to know what is safe and what is not. Being a noob to all this I'd rather ask and be sure then guess and brick my expensive phone.

The only added extras in 2.3.3 was mainly facebook crap. So the link posted by jacklebott is still valid to use.
Also if your bootloader is locked you can use SEUS to fully repair your phone.
You can only truly brick your phone by updating with SEUS, OTA or Pc Companion once your bootloader is unlocked. But even then its still repairable with no radio fix and progress is being made by blagus for a total fix.

But still, questions about this subject could be posted in that thread. As it's stickied there is a bigger change that someone will read it.
yeah only facebook crap, just don't remove the facebook.apk if you want to preserve the Facebook for Android app. Nevertheless, 2.3.3 only got Facebook inside Xperia trash....
NO NEED FOR A NEW THREAD EVERYTIME

yeah, as the title says, THANK YOU SO MUCH to each and every developer, tester and whatnot at that thread, this is my first post buy i've been lurking around this place for quite some time now, I got my X10 back in november but I checked this place long before november.
I just installed Gingerbread on my X10 and, since I'm such a newbie down here, I wanted and felt like doing a thread to say thanks to everyone, I'll be testing the ROM and come back to report any crashes, bugs and stuff I might encounter.
cheerz
Yeah it sux that genuine people can't report bugs in the Dev thread as you need 10+ posts so you have to spam to get your post count up
Pretty stoked to try the 2.3 update on my x10! Currently using 2.1 with the stock multi touch upgrade and it has been working well. How has the 2.3 been working for ya so far?
I have also been trying every version so far. I am just now testing CM7.0.0 J016 K006.
I don't know if any one is checking this but I had the same problem with wifi that several others had. Also I could never get the camera to take a picture

Well, it worked nice but it felt kinda incomplete, i mean no disrespect to anybody over there cuz they're doing an awesome work but i got a load of wlods either trying to use camera, browser, facebook, hell, even bubbleblast but i wanted to see it on my own x10
It also reminded me that i'm a camera-heavy user

Mostly Bug fixes, maybe improved battery life, and small build increase in the some of the built in apps like Gmail and browser etc.
Then you got all the new Sony stuff on top, so should be good.
and the all important fix to the user data encryption problem recently made public... which is prevalent in all Android versions upto 2.3.4!

My point is that I have got Xperia Arc for more than month and I noticed that SE doesn't hurry with updates at all. Look at SGS 2 from samsung. They relased first update fixing some bugs just after 2 weeks they introduced the model....

Except that can and is being fixed server-side by Google, so not having 2.3.4 isn't as big an issue as it might be.
Plus, the problem only occurs when using unsecured wi-fi networks - the clue is in the name

Yeah, they pushed out a minor bug-fix.
This is a combination bug-fix and update to the next version of Android, of course that's going to take more time.
When other manufacturers like HTC are only just updating their current handset range to 2.3.2 and SE are updating the Arc and Play from 2.3.2, I don't really see why you're being so negative.
Pretty new to the android stuff so,
Will this be an OTA Update?
My Phione is unlocked and rootet, any issues for updating?
Last question will it wipe your phone?
thx for replies...
@Karooluss This will be the 2nd update for the arc....
It launched on build .181 and is now .184.
So uhm...... 2 updates (including an android version update), and the phone's only been about 2 months. Not bad going?
Ronniecross, I have still 181 fw fersion although I check for new almost every day. 184 is probably update only for UK and it add some unnecessary stuff like bbc player?? Correct me if I m not right;-)

By saying next week they probably mean the last day of the next week, so 10 more days to go

To work with Facebook you need to sign in. HTC sense is also really integrated with Facebook (twitter flicker) but you have to sign in. If you don't sign in the function doesn't work.

Yay for 2.3.4. Nay for Facebook integration. I like it the way it is right now. Please make Facebook integration optional Sony Ericsson.
Let's just hope Rogers pushes it out next week as well.
IT IS optional you can turn it completely off from the menu! )
Well I won't update it immediately when I comes out. I'll wait and see if Gingerbreak works on the new firmware. And can unlock the HBOOT.
I hope this update brings the much anticipated fixes for the ARC, it's SO close to being perfect, come on SE!
there is an update on that article, the version of the new android update for the Arc will be 2.3.3
Anyone knows what other improvements will be brought by this updates in addition to Facebook intergration? I left a message on SE product launch blog to Rikard, but didnt get any response yet.
So, I'm wondering if the update is for both LT15i and LT15a.

what Nimche said, but to answer your question, I'm sure if it WERE the case that SE were jumping straight to 2.3.4, hypothetically, yes. This would be possible. I couldn't forsee any issues with it...
Dont care about facebook integration, just hope it fixes that camera battery drain bug.
Correction..
Its not 2.3.4 its 2.3.3 ....
Look again at Engadget.....it has been corrected by them........
Wasn't there a member that had their Xperia Arc already on 2.3.3? Wonder if he has all of these features already...

Stock is safe.
Question: what kernel is this rom carrying? I'm back and forth from Froyo to GB because of two issues: BT calls breaking occasionally when I answer, and camera stability. Wondering if you're having issues with either.
And when I say camera stability, I mean being able to shoot 20 pictures and not have it freeze or have to pull the battery. Lol.

Zarboz, people should be thanking you for another ROM to check out.

All right smart asses. Jcase pulled his ROM since he knew it was using an alpha radio that bricked phones. Using any gingerbread ROM with a connection to data (I.e. Using the alpha radio) gives you a chance to brick your phone. No one knows why this radio causes issues but it does.
Happy now?
I am not trying to defer people away from this ROM I am as happy as anyone else that we have another toy to play with but people need to now there is a serious risk that cannot be avoided by making sure you flash correctly or don't mess with the wrong thing. It just happens. Again Zarboz thank you for the ROM I just want people to have a heads up about the issues.
And just so everyone knows I am currently using this ROM and don't plan on jumping ship anytime soon.

I think the ones in older Sense devices just logs crashes in apps though, while the one in new Sense devices logs everything, giving the old one less important info, and leaving the new one far more vulnerable.
Isn't this where droidwall or the like comes into play? Removal is always best but blocking those unwanted apps from accessing data should be commonplace.
