[Q] Accelerometer? - Galaxy S I9000 General

My problem is that the accelerometer works.....but not always... let me explain
Two days ago I played with my friends with water...... stupidly I forgot my cellphone for five minutes. It took humidity and water. I tried to let it dry alone but the next morning, It didn't want to boot. Someone told me about the trick to put it in rice for a day because rice absorbs humidity. I had nothing to lose so I tried. 24 hours later, I can now boot it. Awesome already! I check if everything works, but the only thing that I noticed is that when I open something like the Settings, or Astro Manager or any other app that doesn't specially require itself the accelerometer, it takes by default the position like if my cellphone was turned at 90 degrees. Otherwise, when I use apps like My Paper Plane or even Google Sky, it still perfectly uses it. So I know it works...... but not always.
Can someone give me a tip?
PS: I tried the Horizontal Calbration in the Settings. It detects the position, but doesn't resolve my problem.

Possibly trashed my G1

Hey.
I'm wondering if someone can lend me a hand here. I was rock climbing last weekend, left my phone in my jacket pocket, and I suspect someone may have stepped on / thrown my jacket.
In any case... it's not working right now. It doesn't start up, and there's no light when I plug it into the USB/wall chargers. Any hints on whether this thing is totally trashed? The phone was in its case the whole time, and its exterior looks completely undamaged as far as I can tell, with no scratches, etc. Another possibility is that it got rained on, but I highly doubt that the water penetrated the outside of the phone (especially given that it was in the case the whole time).
If anyone can help me getting my phone working again I would be eternally grateful.
you're kidding me,right? your phone doesn't start,no led comes on when you plug it in,and you want someone to tell you if it's trashed? did you check that the battery is properly seated?
hey whats going on? Heres what I suggest, take it to the tmobile store and tell them that the phone was charging and it started acting funky so you turned it off, and than it never came back on. From there they will switch out your battery, than if that dosent work they will just give you a new phone right there in the store. Long as no water damage which i dought it does. Just do that and you will be ok, I have done that many of times lol.

Yes. I also wiped the contacts on the battery and the device.

Unfortunately it isn't quite that simple for me. I live in Canada; I purchased this phone several months ago basically new off eBay (it was used for a couple of weeks). Funnily enough, my iPod which was "naked" in the same pocket as my phone is also undamaged and continues to function normally. Are there any tests I can do to better determine the location of the problem?

You're gonna need some technical know how. Open the phone and check the mobo for any disconnected cable and/or water damage. There is really nothing you can do that you haven't already done from the outside of the phone. If possible, find a local repair shop and have them take a look at it.
Update: so basically I took out the battery, waited a day or so, put it back in, and all the buttons lit up on the phone (but the LCD remained blank and so did the charging light).
Took the battery back out, waited another day, put it back in, and the phone suddenly turned on and has been working fine since. Anyway, thank you everyone for your help.

Flakey Wizard

Hello.
My Wizard (8125) will load fine some times, but most of the time it just shows lines down the screen, mostly blue, some darker than others.. You can't make anything out. It will work fine other than the screen.. and sometimes I will turn the screen off and back on and it will display perfectly fine. The screen connections are fine, they aren't loose. I have had the phone apart several times, and always make sure everything is good before I put it back together. It started doing this after the last time I gave it a bath in the dish water. I bought a new battery, and it booted up fine.. but now gives me this problem again. I can't figure it out.. I'm about ready to retire it.
Oh, I also replaced the screen with a spare.
EDIT: I have wm6 and TNT on it...

Hi homelessduck,
Did you said you let your phone fall on water?
That hurts x.x
Does the phone work? Can you receive calls, SMS, etc, apart from being unable to see anything? Or nothing works?
If you can "use" it, then I guess your LCD may be goin' down, or some video controller. Would be good to take your screen off and put on another Wizard, if you have that possibility.
Good luck man,
Cheers
Everything works. The screen works , but if I let the battery get too low the screen gets screwed up and you can't see anything. So I have to wait, and it randomly fixes itself. I have submerged it several times, and it has flown across parking lots, my house, etc. multiple times. I think it may be time to retire it.. but every time I start to, it starts working again..lol.

Touchscreen only working sometimes.

My HTC Magic is acting very weird. It started when i had it in my pocket when it was raining. So i tried to use the phone it didn't respond when i tapped the phone. It's just odd that when i turn off the phone and boot it up some hours later, it works. But only for a couple of minutes, then it's not responding again.
One time i was playing teeter and suddently the G-sensor didn't work. The ball didn't roll and the touchscreen didn't work either.
Also, sometimes the charging led does not respond when i charge the phone.
The trackball switches between not responding roll and not responding to being pressed. Sometimes both things work, sometimes they don't.
The phone has been exposed to water before, about 3 weeks ago, but back then i used a hairdryer and it was good to go after that.
Here is what i have tried so far:
Opened the phone and cleaned the screen.
Made sure that the cables were plugged in.
Installed the stock rom from HTC.
Used a hairdryer.
None of these things had any effect
Could somebody please tell me whats wrong with it.
Check the other boards in the phone for water damage and clean. Hope it'll help.

Right now i have put the phone into a bowl with rice. I've heard that it might help removing the moisture. If it doesn't work, i'll try your method.

Too much lag after phone dropped in water

Hi, can one help me. I have dropped my phone in water by mistake. I removed and switched off it and put in rice for one day. After that i have cleaned it with gasoline/petrol at local shop. Now the phone is working good there is a too lag. Even typing is difficult sometimes and heats often.
Any help much appreciated, thanks.
Hi,
In my opinion, disassemble the phone and leave it to dry for a couple of weeks (yes I know but it is the minimum), after two weeks check if there are white spots on the board and on the components (you can use a magnifier ), if you find them use a cleaner for electronic components. Assemble everything and hope everything goes well. I usually use this method and it almost always worked.

LCD/ Touch screen not responding. Hardware or Software (ROM/Kernel)?

Hello Everyone. What I'm about to write might be a bit tricky and complex, so thank you if you'll follow along.
Unfortunately, I dropped the phone into water couple of weeks ago (I know, how dumb...). I let it dry 3 days in rice and Silica gel. After that, I tried to boot it up and it worked, but after couple of hours the touch screen was not responding anymore. I rebooted it and worked again, but lately failed another time.
I tried to let the phone standing up for 3 days, and it worked again perfectly. But as soon as it lies flat horizontally, the touch screen stops working.
After several attempts, I figured out that there might still be water in it, which reaches the motherboard/top of the phone when it is horizontal and messes up with the screen.
However, just out of curiosity, I tried to change ROM and noticed the following:
1.MIUI Global Official: Phone works perfectly, even after lying horizontally. However, everytime something full screen is running, touch screen stops working.
2.DotOS/Lineage/AICP(unterwelt) (All based on Nougat): Phone works, but touchscreen fails after it lies flat.
3.Factory Kernel/ Voodoo: no differences.
So, do you think the problem is in the Hardware, or Software?
Do you accidentally know any good seller of LCD/Touch-screen replacements?
I'm looking forward to buy a Redmi note 4 (if I find any, since there are very few on the market and there are no redmi 4 prime anymore), so I thought this topic might be an take-off for some interesting discussions/opinions.
If you arrived here, thank you very much for your time and hope you can help me one way or another.
Best,
G.
PS: I tried all possible paths while changing ROM/Kernel (Clean and dirty flash, no/formatting data, reinstall TWRP)
In case might be useful to someone:
I opened the phone, use a hair dryer (cold air, not hot) for couple of minutes and now it's working perfectly.
