now i know its not currently supported in the official builds of Windows 7 but i keep reading that it will be in Mango...and i have the Mango beta (7661) on my focus...so my question is: is it still not working on this build? my workplace has the SSID hidden and on my iPhone or any android phone (my old g1, my roommate's incredible, etc) i have no problem connecting to it when you enter the info...
is there anyway i can connect my phone to it currently or do i need to wait for the release, or at least a newer beta, version of Mango? because currently i cannot see the network or enter the info for it anywhere...

Hey all, I've been trying to figure this out all day.
My work bought my department a Sprint Hero as an 'on call' phone to pass around, and no one realized that the CDMA Hero is still officially stuck on Android 1.5. Which as I'm sure you all know, doesn't include the vpn settings in the OS, and there don't seem to be any apps in the marketplace that do PPTP. We really need to be able to connect to a windows style PPTP VPN server to manage our servers over RDP/VNC, and browse intranet sites.
So far today I've rooted the hero and tried several ROMs, the only one that even had the VPN settings was the AOSP 2.0 ROM, but I can't get the VPN working, and there is no confirmation in that ROM's thread as to whether its VPN works or not. (Yes, I posted the Q there, and I'm waiting to hear back.)
So if anyone can confirm PPTP VPN works on any Hero ROM's, or if anyone knows of an app that'll do it, I'd greatly appreciate ANY pointers...
I'm excited to learn more about android, I've been a WinMo user since ~2000 or so, and an avid XDA user for most of that time (T-Mobile MDA [Wizard], AT&T Tilt [Hermes], and my current personal phone Sprint Touch-Pro [Raphael]).
Thanks again!

Well I guess with the new kernel source dropping it shouldn't be long now...
You need to get to atleast 1.6 to get the ipsec version (cisco type) to work, with the kernel release I hope we can get at least a 1.6 fully functional, bt camera etc.
If you have to get vpn now check the rom links there is a partially functional 1.6 and 2 out there. Me Im waiting, I use the Bluetooth and camera more then i would vpn. (for now I put a machine on the network with VNC and vnc into it to get to the network.)
Yeah I tried all of the 1.6/2.0/2.1 ROMs that were available as of ~two weeks ago. Only the ASOP 1.6 even had the VPN config menu in the settings, and it didn't seem to work.
It seems like adding the tun module & VPN settings page is a pretty low priority for most of the cooks...
I noticed on one of the ROM's threads that there is a 1.6/2.1 ROM that has the tun module and the cook tested it, but the actual VPN settings page isn't showing up in that ROM
Well, I hear that the GSM Hero is supposed to get the 2.1 upgrade by the end of march, so hopefully the CDMA Hero update won't be far behind that...

Hi
Have a Touch2 T3333 which has ROM version 1.28.401.4 (66092)
I bought it as I wanted a Windows phone originally for complete Exchange sync.
However I'm on the verge of just giving up with it and buying another handset, as it's just so riddled with bugs and problematic.
I thought I'd give it one last go and see if there were any updates for the OS to make it usable.
The HTC website does have an update for it which looks significantly newer, however when I try to download that and put in the S/N of the handset I get told that it isn't suitable. There is no way on there for me to part-patch up to an intermediate version then to that version.
I'm not looking for "tweaks" as such, I just want what's there to work (the weather bits, the active sync, Opera not to crash all the time, not to have to launch IE twice every time, the phone to switch properly between WiFi and 3G, YouTube to detect the network connection properly, Audible Player to sync properly, not to have to take the battery off the back and put it back on about once a week every time it locks up.. the list just goes on..)
I'm not sure if these are general issues with Windows mobile itself which has a kind of beta not-quite-finished feel to it and no version really works properly, or if the update would solve these problems.
As I'm so frustrated with the thing I don't mind all that much if I end up killing it completely and then have to throw it in the bin and go out and get an Android based replacement.
I've read about ROM updates on here and I can see in the Mega - ROM - Hotfix thread there's a ROM "WWE Europe - 1.28.401.4" which I'm guessing is the one to try. But then it appears to simply be the version I already have.
Based on how old the ROM it has appears to be (16/09/2009) how can I get the HTC updated ROM 1.33.110.2 to install (the HTC site badges it "T-Mobile" and I have O2), and would anyone else who has be able to comment on whether it's just that my experience with Windows mobile is so poor and I should persist, or whether I should call it a day and move on? (I can see plenty of people have tried getting hold of Android on this handset....could the new Windows 7 work on it in time...?)
Moved to general as not rom development
After switching to DHD build, I decided that I will use it as my main OS.
I'm on 3 UK now and I want to use also Skype's free minutes included in my plan.
However I've tried

Following one of this links http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676101 it wouldn't let me download anything.
Couldn't try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817749 as I couldn't find anywhere.
Tried to change the APN (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861842) Nothing happened.
As you see I did as much research as I could.
Any idea?
cheers
EDIT:
Opening the browser when I'm on 3G, WiFi off, It tells me to connect to Three Network and disconnect Wifi..
No problem with data connection with any program with both wifi and 3g
Anyone? Please...
EDIT
It may need to import some kind of certificate from original three uk phones with android, like desire, hero..
ANYONE??????
Three UK is using rmnet protocol only, builds desire hd and similar are using ppp which Three UK is recognizing as wifi or connecting from barred or other network than Three.
The solution is using rmnet version of desire but rmnet builds, I am not sure what radio is needed, but I remember i had 2.10.xx.xx and some desire version from Darkstone. Haven't had any problems! Now I am testing skype from android market - i think this one is much better than iskoot (3uk skype modified version) at least you can see who is calling to you.
thank mate;
I've used iSkoot on WinMo to call through skype-on-3 with no problems; I had the same radio that I'm using now in Android
By the way, I'm using now MDj 4.6 with kernel 8.0
the only point to use skype-on.3 is that the skype calls are transferred as a normal call; so quality is better where 3g is not available. that's why I'm not gonna use skype from the market when I'm not connected via wifi.
So we should wait for a rmnet build.. ok
Thanks again.. Happy new year!
Hi guys well i own a HTC Aria and it is rooted. First I installed Cyanogen Mod 7 on it which is great but the one thing that i have not gotten to work is to connect to a hidden SSID over wifi. I installed as many nightly builds I could hoping that with each new one maybe it would be fixed but sadly no. I am presently running cyanogen mod 6.1.1 of which the hidden SSID wifi works great. Can anyone tell me if this problem has been fixed or can anyone give a solution which does not include making my SSID visable because I can't for personal reasons. Your response is most appreciated.
Sorry, but for the 100th time, your out of luck when it comes to connecting to hidden APs if your running CM.
Ok cool its no big problem, I guest I have to wait for the final cm7 release

No. Not going to happen most likely as mentioned 200 times. Just unhide your network.
That would be impossible as my school uses a hidden network. Can't just waltz up to them and request them to unhide it.
I feel you man i guess for now do what i did go back to cm 6.1.1, it works great with hidden SSID over wifi
The question is why hidden SSID are a no go for CM7?
I wonder if it took this long for cm6 to get the hidden SSID over wifi to work or if it ever even had this problem from the start/to begin with.

Same situation here, I just reverted back to FR008 with HK kernel (for great battery life) and will stick with it until the semester is done or someone manages it to get it working on CM7.
You got it man its just a waiting game but in the end those guy do a great job getting the roms fully working and stable. 5 stars!!!!!!!!!
I just got my Samsung Focus updated with a mysterious "samsung update for windows phone". Does anyone knows what does it brought?
This is what changed in my settings > about:
Radio software revision 2124.11.8.1 > 2124.11.9.3
Firmware revision 2124.11.8.1 > 2124.11.9.4
It was patching for about 15minutes, Zune even did a whole system backup, seem to be important.
Most likely the update to allow internet sharing (WiFi hotspot).
MS did say the WiFi stack needed to be updated to allow it to function properly.
I have the old firmware/radio and internet sharing works fine. Maybe this will improve it.
Which Carrier On You ON? Which HW Revision?

I believe he's on 1.4 as Samsung Support told me that the ending number in the first part of the firmware also tells revision.
For instance, the firmware on my 1.3 Focus is: 2103.11.8.1

I have the same info, just updated. I got my ChevronWP7 token and unlocked yesterday and enabled internet sharing myself. Maybe it has something to do with that.
Samsung Focus update?
I got the same update under the same circumstances.
Anybody know what it is
I also got this update on my Rogers Focus...I am wondering if it enabled internet sharing or not.
I can't be sure since I already had enabled it.
However, I have Wifi issues since enabling/using the internet sharing...it seems to have messed up the phones ability to switch between wifi and 3G so when they are both activated my data will 'stall' until i turn off either wifi or 3g.
Hopefully a non-hacked user can tell us if this update brought tethering...then maybe I'll flash my phone and not unlock it...I only unlocked to get tethering.
I'm on a 1.3 AT&T Focus with Rogers firmware, chevron unlocked and SIM unlocked.
No issues with WiFi at all.
Sent from my SGH-i917R using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Just got the update, SIM and Chevron unlocked Rogers Focus. Nothing seems to have changed aside from the phone being a little more snappy. I did notice with the registry that in HKLM\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class the removable option is 1 instead of 0 for both the main folder and the high capacity folder. If I remember right those were 0 before. I may be mixing that up with the MMC class folder though.
Finaly got 3G, the problem was my current location, when I went to the center of my city all was fine, 3G icon showed, 3G+ for a split second even
Have to test, if it works with wifi enabled, but cannot do it atm.
No interop unlock although I was about to do it.
Got the notification today, installed, no new apps or internet sharing.
Just seems snapier.
