Title says it all...
I use mine everyday, and at my age, that's saying something!!
Cool. How is it? Worth me flashing it?
Sent from my EVO 3D Test model. yes I work with sprint
Only one way to find out, I am about to try it myself
I would recommend not flashing it, as it says it's meant for the Incredible, not the Evo.

Ah, I see. Well I thought you guys were getting it from rom manager, and I had to solve that issue yesterday where someone flashed the incredible version. But, let me know how it goes for you.

I flashed, its DL my apps now Seemed somewhat smooth, though I use launcherPro anyway. It looks like AOSP not a CM rip off like I have read, but I may be wrong...
edit...I do NOT have a toggle for 4G anywhere!!! A deal breaker for most
Back 2 CM7 it is
What's the point of using this rom when we have cm7 ....? Just curious.

The way I see it is CM keeps adding and adding stuff, rather than perfecting. I personally flashed back to CM, but once a true AOSP come out it on!
edit...just want to add that since the merge of 2.3.3 battery is worse, and reboots take longer, speaking of CM7 of course.
I have been looking into 2.3 Rom and there are few out there as of today that include gingerbread. I am not sure which is best, what would be recommended by users experience.
I did take a look at the Wiki Page about roms and browsed through the pages.
I would like to get some feedback from you guys that already updated their roms to what would you recommend and pros and cons that you found.
Thank you
Cyanogenmod 7 is the undisputable best. No other ROM will work as flawlessy. A manufacturer could not have written a better ROM. It's perfect in every aspect. If it's your first time messing with ROMs then I would suggest this one because otherwise you will have issues with other ROMs. Besides every function works for CM7. GPS, camera, 4g, etc...
Deck's or Salvage mod are the way to go.

You are telling me that those ROMs work as perfect as CM7? I don't believe it.
Depends on your preference. Sense or aosp? A lot of them still have some bugs but if you search the forums you can find fixes. Just make sure to make a backup before you flash! What may work great for you might not for someone else due to different hardware and what not. Trial and error is the only way!

...WELL! from my experience flashing roms, if you want to flash and roll about your day and not worry then a sense rom like FRESH or Mikfroyo or Sprintlovers is the way to go.
if you like to tinker and update and check in on responses about issues on a daily basis, a AOSP rom like cm7 is the way to go.

Hardly. Marginally. Barely.
Its not drastic. If at all. Only because it is, essentially, CM7 minus some 'system bloat.' Don't believe the night and day hype.

I've exclusively used CM7 for quite some time now...just switched over to evodeck and it's been a flawless experience. CM7 has given me random issues here and there. If someone asked me which one I would recommend between the two? evodeck for sure as of now. You also get 2.3.4 with evodeck instead of 2.3.3 with CM7.
I've been using Misfit's port of Shift Rom and its amazing. Gingerbread with Sense 2.1=WIN!!! lol

woe! ok, ok you special, everything works for you and i know it is for many but you still the minority...so you flashed cm7 and dont care to flash a nightly or mod it? thats the most fascinating part about CM!
dont get me wrong CM is an awesome developer and ROM but thats the price some have to pay for cutting edge ****!
if you read the threads the majority of posts are issues and how to go about fixing them, not just this thing is flawless and doesnt need anymore updates!
if that was the case you would see stable releases once in a blue moon.
im running UD ROM which is a variant of CM7. i got most things operational but get glitches every now and then, but i know my way enough to figure it out so it dont efffect me much... but for someone inquiring about flashing AOSP i was just voicing my opinion and merely stating that if you are the type to get involved and join in to discuss what can help with the advancement of CM and AOSP, as pros and cons as asked by OP...
dickhead!
My aosp daily is Kings out of this world and my daily sense is Evolvedrom shifted. I second JRE77 though. My phone doesn't like certain roms that work great on another phone. Just use RA recovery, have a good working backup, wipe everything and flash away. You'll find one. Half the fun of being rooted is trying a bunch a different roms. Lord knows I have and still do even though I have my daily drivers
If your new to roms I would try CM7 first. I personally prefer myn's stuff because I like sense better.

this may be outdated/unnecessary but i figured that i'd share / hope others would share too
im still skeptical about moving on to ICS for the vibrant just bc i need a phone that works 100% correctly all the time... so im still on froyo.
currently running bionix fishman mod final2 w/ bali-x @ 1.2ghz
essentially froyo tweaked in many ways w/ the appwidgetpicker
along with the miui camera, s.gps2 for gps fix, setcpu, and bln
is anyone else flashing any additional necessary files when they flash their roms??

Fishman is good. My needs are different. I need a Rom that is atleast 2.2.1. So the capacitive buttons dont blind me on each screen press. I'd recommend ultimate rom or biwinning with the sense or sgs2 theme. I also use Bali undervolt kernel. If you haven't already test out the modems for your area. For instance for me its KB1.

I was on ICS Passion and 100% functionality is a stretch. Browsing through the thread reveals that damn near everyone else has problems too. I have issue with these devs that claim everything works when it's clearly a lie.
I'm using Fishman's 2.2 rom right now. No need to flash any other files for my needs. So far it's been pretty good.

CM9's 16B is so functional that I put it on my Dad's phone, and he says it's running much better than it did before on Bionix. The only issue he and I have been having is the GPS, which never has worked from the beginning for us anyways, and very minor things (like the menu for toggle widgets is called lockscreens or something).
ICS is pretty awesome. You may want to give it a shot... I recommend the Icy Glitch kernel to go with CM9.

when you say never worked, do you mean it as GPS ideally should? or even to the low standards of how the vibrant's GPS is supposed to work?
personally since everything works 100% as best as it possibly can right now on my vibrant with bionix fishman mod without a hardware gps fix, i'm very reluctant to move onto ICS if the GPS wont even lock within around 30 secs or so like i can get it to do with froyo especially if it is something i need eventually
minor things like menu names i can definitely deal with, but if froyo's GPS works better overall compared to an ICS rom, i see absolutely no reason to make the switch with this phone. if i need ICS that badly, i will get a new phone

has anyone tried it? any notable/noticeable differences?
And while I'm here, does anyone else experience any receiving sms problems when running CM7....receiving messages that were sent the day before, or never receiving them at all?
I ran nightly 230 for a while before switching to the Team Hacksung ICS build... it ran really well on my phone. I think I still had to do the software GPS fix, and of course the mute/unmute bug is still there as far as I know. I'm going to guess the 7.2 RC is going to be pretty solid.
If it still needs the GPS fix and has the mute/unmute bug, I see absolutely no reason to use CM7.2 over ICS Passion \ Euphoria.

It's been fixed for a while. Though not by me.
Edit: its still weird for some people. You should do a test. Check the CM9 nightlies thread for the how to test instructions
It's been about 4 or 5 months since I flashed CM7 on my Kindle Fire and I am having some problems with it rebooting spontaneously (at least I haven't noticed any patterns) and some slight lag in my launcher loading apps in files and sometimes even uninstalling apps (GOex Launcher). I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem, mainly with rebooting randomly on CM7, or if I did something wrong when flashing it?
Also, if there's been a newer release of CM for the Kindle that I overlooked or missed, that could also explain the problem as well, I think...
Any thoughts, comments, or experiences would be helpful. Thanks.
Also, I've noticed a bit more posts than a few months ago about CM9 for KF. Has anyone had the experience of comparing the two? Is one more stable now than the other? I was told (at the time I flashed) that CM7 was more stable but am wondering if that's still the case. If you've used both or particularly had a great experience with one over the other, I'd like to hear what you think.

I am currently running AOKP Build 35 by OxD34D, and it is probably the best ROM I have every run on any of my Android devices. Everything is super solid, virtually no bugs. I say this, however, my experience with CM7 is limited on this device. I would say from the forums it would seem that CM7 and CM9 are very similar as far as stability goes. A lot of the thanks goes to the kernel devs who have made great strides in getting this device to where it is now. So make sure to give them some thanks for their works as well.

I'm running gedeROM (I think that's how its spelled) CM9 and its friggin amazing. Blows CM7 out of the water, IMO.
I think the general consensus is that the CM9 based ROMs are better than the CM7 ROMs at this point. They are not perfect, but neither was CM7, which don't forget, is really a phone OS, not a tablet OS. The launchers are better and I think the app support is better as well.

HWA works for any ICS based ROM (CM9 or AOKP) as long as it has the 3.x kernel, which I think pretty much all of them do now. While there are still some random issues (looks like more app-centric (HBO Go and Hulu+ especially)), it tends to work well for most folks with Netflix and YouTube HD. It does seem to help if you do a full clean on your device (factory reset, both caches, system) before switching ROMs.

Actually you can get Hulu+ to work with the latest kernel. Search the forums for Hulu, and someone made a modified version that bypasses the device not supported screen. I even have swype working on it too. At this point there's no reason not to use ICS.
