clockwork recovery = bad nandroids - Eee Pad Transformer General

Hi there... I am running The orange cwr that I grabbed from this forum. I am getting very frustrated because none of my backups will work. I get md5 check sums errors. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank. You!

Same issue here as well, running prime v 1.5 and clemsyn v 16 kernel

I have not read any complaint of bad nandroid backups for people who have installed this cwm recovery in their tf101:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093818

i'm using the CW recovery from the above link, and i just restored a backup last night and it worked just fine.

I've never had a problem backing up in CWM.

I have to agree with OP, not once has restoring a nandroid worked for me. Im always getting the bad MD5 error.

Just restored one last night from 2 days ago, so it doesn't appear to be systemic.

any details on what you are running as far as your rom, kernel, ect. I haven't had any problems while running stock, any rom, or the various kernels.. I'm not sure if this will help, but I personally would redownload (i think that's a word) Rom Manager, reflash the lastest version of CWM then reflash the version that is modified for the TF. I had issues before I flashed solarnz's version, that was due to nubness and not isolation the media though (kinda irrelevant).
Hope that helps some

Bad quality or fake MicroSD?

PERFECT! That did the trick. I thought I updated my CWR when I rooted, but I guess I didnt have this one. Thanks so much!!!

I'm also not having problems with bad nandroid backup's.
Only thing is, i think it skips the kernel for whatever reason.
Could one of you guys check next time if nandroid also reverts the kernel, because i flashed ubuntu yesterday, before i had clemsyn rom + kernel combo. which i made a nandroid of. i flashed prime 1.5 with roach's kernel, then after that, i installed ubuntu. when i got back to android and restored my nandroid i found out that there was the roach's kernel while it should be clemsyn's OC kernel.
Can anyone confirm this?

Have some problem too, can't update from SD in Clockwork
After flash with nvflash, that's problem removed...

i believe if you dont flash the recovery either before or at the same time as dl30 you cant go back and flash it either...im not 100% on that though
I figured it out. You have to do DL30 first then New CWMR. Thanks
Oh, that's good to know, thanks Syn
Does anyone have a working link to the OLD Fascinate CWM .tar? The ones in topic here about is aren't working at all, they either give 404 or say that the poster's links are too busy and were disabled.
Help?

I flashed the New CWMR then DL30, I can get into CWMR with no problem.
I wish the new version did show a different version number though.
Both show the same, making it a bit confusing..

Maybe it was a bad install or my phone just doesnt want CWMR first. Either way it works now.

Just to clear up any confusion, the "new" CWM is also green, so don't think that the "red" CWM is the new one. The red one is just for voodoo kernels, and the last time I checked, neither the leaked DL30 stock build nor the Super Clean DL30 build supports voodoo, which means you actually need the CWM posted here: http://kaessa.com/files/froyo/DL30-cwm.zip
All of the above is true.
Be careful using that recovery, since it still uses koush's (BROKEN ASS) recovery.
I will try to put together a usable package tonight that uses the red cwm instead. That was a mear proof of concept test, not really meant for distribution.
oops, I totally left this part out but my cwm works perfect still, I never installed the new cwm package, I will now though.
I installed the new CWM first then the DL30 rom - this sent me to the TwLauncher force close loop of death. Reinstalled ROM 1st then new CWM and I'm now rocking 2.2 ...
"You know what the problem is with you, son, all of your brains are in your head and not in your feet."
hmm...I'm scared to even touch mine. lol. Followed one of adrynalyne earlier guides where you use odin to much cwmrecovery.tar and then flash clockwork mod in Rom Manager (can't seem to find it now). Rom manager says version 2.5.1.0 and I can still get into cwm.
I disabled voodoo, installed the new cwm, wiped cache/system reset, installed the super clean .7 with no problems at all.
I also rebooted after the voodoo disable and after I flashed the new cwm.
I can't wait for voodoo, the lag is driving me insane!
RubikS 1.7 - Voodoo 5 w/ Voodoo Sound!!
I can confirm that flashing the recovery after installing DL30 didn't work through Recovery mode. I attempted it twice to no avail. I'll retest with the new Red CWM when it's released.

Which recovery should be used??

I had issues with both recoveries now so which one is everyone using? I am currently using CM3.05 or something like that and I tried restoring a backup and it freezes on the startup screen. So I'm a little irritated now and am wondering what everyone is using and if they're having problems.
Used to just backup and no matter what happened do a restore and no problem...

Bahhh I'm slow...
I've got the same question. Clockwork isn't fully functional and there's the annoying bug that doesn't let you charge your phone when it's off.
This in addition to the fact that the Wimax keys don't get backed up automatically and that no one seems to know how to restore the Wimax keys when they are backed up manually is why I am holding off on flashing roms for now. I am real happy just having my phone rooted though.
Been using CW 2.5 with no problems. It will boot into recovery when plugged in with the phone off but you quickly learn to just deal with it. I've backed up and restored at least a dozen times already without any errors.
^ Shift Faced
I can also add that I've been using 2.5 and created several backups and restored successfully as well as flashed bc's oc kernel successfully. I've only heard bad things about v3+.
2.5.x.x. because that's what is in the "official" rooting thread.
It really depends. You will need to use 2.5.xxx for any Sense based 2.2 ROMs and 3.0.xxx for any GB based ROMs.
Thanks all! 2.5 is working good for me. It even restored my 3.0.5 backup when 3.0.5 wouldn't.

You can find All Versions of Clockwork Mod Recoveries in ROM Manager. So if you having any problems with old Roms you can use CWM 2.5.
CWM 3 doesn't support update-script, it requires update-binary and updater-script. So there are many mods and themes available which will not work with CWM 3.0. If you know how to convert them into flashable Zips then you will be able to use it. But anyway you can always revert back to CWM 2.5.
Does nandroid backups made with CWM 2.5 work with this new version?
Restoring backups of 2.2 roms doesn't work for me. Only way I can get a 2.2 rom to boot is if I flash a fresh zip

Just use CWM 2.5 to restore backup of 2.2 Roms. It should be working fine, I tried on my DHD and I don't have any issues.
Awesome! Makes things easier when I want to flash CM7.
I was so glad to see this. I had the non-final version installed and it meant if I wanted to go back to Sense I had flash the 2.5.1.3 recovery first. Now with this being on the ROM manager I flashed the 2.5.1.3 then recovered Sense, flashed v3 recovery and backed up Sense. With that done I can go between it and CM7 or any other ROMs that allow far more easily.

True.. Makes my life more easier...
It would have beign nice if I knew this stuff about v3 yesterday...when I couldn't get back any recovery, and I was beginning to believe that is something wrong.with my SD card. But I don,t understand ,why, if is a NEW (and supposedly a better version) doesn't, support the back up made with v2.5 (I read about the .bin, and .zip file in a.upper post, but It's a little to technically for me and I dont understand how this will help me if I use CM7 and ruu 2.3).
And the question is, will v3 recover the backup made with v3 of my sense Rom,because I don,t wanna try again and if it.doesn't,t work ,I will wake up my self again in the orange menu of v3 and then I have to flash again a Rom, downgrade from Rom manager to v2.5 and restore an older backup
Neat!
CM7 official release is probably not to far away then!
Thanks...!
Argh, really, is it so hard to check for the fs during backup, and then restore it using the noted fs? Why the stupid split for ext3 on 2.5 and ext4 on 3 ? Especially since 3 has no problem reading ext3.

Obviously Koush feels it is, don't forget CWM is open source, if you feel the check of file system and appropriate restore / backup is a minor issue submit a patch implementing it for review and I am sure Koush will accept it with pleasure.
re flashed today everything is nice. Except one backup from older CWM is not recognized.
Thanks for the heads-up

I was using MIUI rom on my DHD and I wanted to restore a nandroid backup to return to Revolution HD, when I started Rom Manager, it told me there's an update to 3.0.x (Not 100% if it was 3.0.5 or something else), so I updated it.
Then when I tried to do a nandroid restore to my RevolutionHD backup, it went through the process properly, but it won't boot into the rom.
Can anyone help me out, please. I'm phoneless?

[Q] Clockworkmod on Euro Tab

After a bit of research I found out that clockworkmod works on the Euro tab if you select verizon. I got the bootstrapper and got it flashed. Then selected Verizon on rom manager. It is backing up everything right now without any errors.
Could this lead to any errors in the future?
But there is a euro version to use for euro tabs.

Doing a nandroid backup won't cause errors. Does it also recover ok? If so, then you're golden .
I want to know as well since Australian tablets are Euro versions.
Clockworkmod and ROM Manager works well for me when installed with Paulobriens's kernel. I have US Tmo Tab.
It is very helpful tool allowing to do most of flashing maintenance without computer.
Bought the Euro Tab Bootstraper of market. Did not work at all :-( Fraud.
Hmm. Restoring to see if it works good right now, and everything seems perfect so far. Checking md5 sums done, erasing boot before restore, restoring boot image done and restoring system right now.
I think if you follow my steps it works perfectly.
Edit: Restore worked perfectly too. My steps are proven.
Where can I find this Euro rom? In the rom manager I only see three branded roms. I would love to run Cyanogen mod 7 like on my HTC Desire.
Had same.problem woth boot strapper from market in it not working
But now using overcome v2 and all is good, can reboot into recovery and back & restore from there

Mcr kernel and rom (pauls) is for the euro tab.
Flash the kernel and you get clockwork recov builtin.
Do nandroid backup then... copy to pc for save keeping.
Load whatever rom you want. Pref pauls mcr ext4 for speed boost or overcome 1.2.0 or 1.1.3
Loads of threads on subject.
Http://Bit.ly/myroms for a copy of roms n kernel.

IMEI Lost/Intact - Spreadsheet Information Gathering

Let's use this as a place to post some information regarding whether or not you still have your IMEI intact and what you did to lose it/keep it.
Please post:
1) Hardware and release date (you can include you serial number if you would like)
2) Recovery and how you flashed it
3) ROMs/Kernels you flashed to lose it, or ones you have flashed and not lost it
4) Any other information you feel might help
I'll start: I have no IMEI problems
1 - Tmobile 16GB blue launch date
2- CWM via Odin initially, then flashed newest CWM NOT Touch via ROM manager.
3- Flashed CM10, then reverted back in nandroid, flashed a few kernels, no problems.
EDIT: Please post your findings here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Arzp20hXNPi4dFg3UUozS2FQaERYNVJRVm1hWmJYQ3c#gid=0

3) Flashed FreeGS3 R1.5, Adama 003 kernel, FreeGS3 R3, CM9, then nandroid back to FreeGS3 R3 w/Adama 003 kernal. No IMEI issues here
Let's get to the bottom of this guys!

5)Still stock but have flashed Faux123 kernel 002,003,004 and still have IMEI.
Blue t-mobile 16gb few weeks after release. Flashed cwm through Odin then flashed root files. I have flashed, whitehawx rooted stock, aokp,freegs3, caprom turbo, all of faux kernels, and a few ics domination versions. Still have my imei with no issues and I have also done a handful of nandroid restores. No issues at all. I have flashed a fresh install of caprom turbo and it's running great also flashed back to stock kernel. But I'm not flashing anything until this imei problem gets cleared up a bit. I've done allot of flashing and I have had no issues... very strange.

Very nice! We need more people That lost their imei somehow
1. 16GB Pebble Blue SGSIII, purchased 6/27/12
2. CWM 5.8.4.7, flashed through ROM Manager
3. I've only flashed CM9 (07-18-12) as far as ROMs go, and I also flashed Der Kernel (Alpha 19), and I did NOT lose my IMEI.
4. If it's any help, I rooted my phone via this method so that I wouldn't trip my flash counter, then I tried to flash CWM by using Terminal Emulator, but that didn't work for some reason, so I just downloaded ROM Manager and flashed CWM through there. Shortly after, I flashed CM9 (I wiped dalvik, and cache) let my phone sit for about ten minutes, rebooted, and installed Der Kernel. I was very scared that I would lose my IMEI because I had seen some posts about people losing theirs, but I decided to take the risk anyway because I technically still had warranty since I hadn't tripped my counter. Also, this was just yesterday that I did this; my phone was bone stock. I was going to wait for a solution to the IMEI problem and for a CM9 RC, but I got tired of TouchWiz.
So, that's my adventure.
