I rooted my phone with the G2 walkthrough in the forums. It had me install Superuser Permissions, which worked at first. Now when I try to use something that required root access it just tells me I do not have root access. When I open the super user program, it just sits at a blank black screen. When I open up a new app(like the 3 different screenshot apps I downloaded) the apps open and tell me I do not have root access. I do have root access because I can get Titanium Backup to run and it also requires root access. I cannot remove/uninstall Superuser Permissions to swap it with another working super user app.
I saw this article http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828
I tried to install that app from the market and it fails to install(I assume due to the fact that I already have a super user app running). That said I cannot remove the installed app(thats not working). In that article it says to open terminal and type a "remount" command that may be different for each phone. I tried the command that they suggested(for his Nexus) but it did not seem to work on my G2.
So what do I do? Does anyone know what command I need to run from terminal to complete those directions to get a functioning Superuser app working? Does anyone know how to fix the existing "Superuser Permissions" app? Any suggestions?
try a reboot
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I already have. The Superuser Permissions app still only comes up with a black screen. No options when I hit "menu" and it does continue to stay active after I back out to the home screen as it does show up in the Task Killer list. That said, I am not getting a pop up that asks if I want to give an app superuser access. The apps that I alraedy had given permissions to(like Titanium Backup) still work fine, but no new app that require SU access will work.
Any other suggestions.

Have you tried clearing data for the Superuser app? See if that resets it to a working state.
did you do a perma root or temp root? If you did the Temp root, then the reboot caused you to lose your root. You need to re temp root then do the perma root.

Well.. not only did that not work, it made it worse. Now my titanium backup(that I have accessed daily for weeks since I rooted my phone) tells me I am not rooted after I cleared the data from the super user program...
And...
Now when I go to terminal and type su I dont get the # anymore.. it says permission denied...
AND
I tried using Visionary for a temp root, and after it trys to temp root, I still cant access SU from terminal.
I have not updated my OS to my knowledge.
Any ideas?
Anyone have any insight into this??
At this point my phone basically isnt rooted anymore. I have even tried visionary and it seems to temp root but nothing works.. I can get SU in terminal etc....
Superuser Permissions is still installed but doesnt work.
I tried using Visionary to remove root. It says my phone doesnt appear to be rooted.
Soo at this point, my phone has none of the advantages of being rooted, yet it is technically rooted(because I cant re-root it the same way using visionary and terminal).
What can I do??
Try installing a new ROM if you already have clockwork installed.
I just started using DX and then i tried to use system app remover to delete something and then it says my phone is not rooted? i still have superuser and rootexplorer works. Busybox cannot be installed because its not rooted?
Any suggestions?? i need to root again or what??
Weird because root explorer works..and superuser is still there.
you have to root it again,
it wont remove any files
so if you did it once a second time wont be as hard
I also use Ginger DX, and have the same problem as yours. System App Remover seems not compatible with GingerDX. I suggest u to use Titanium Backup to uninstall system app. It works well with GingerDX.
This is a known bug... please refer to this thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205566
Let's just hope the fund raiser is a success and DX will get a new X8 soon
1. try to get in terminal emulator (if you have one) and type there "su"
and check if ($ goes to # )
2. you might delete some essential app which helps system work in rooted mode so try to reinstall ROM. if still doesn't work try to root that again. (it's quite easy with super user one click)
just root it again.. only 1 click
No no no guys! It's a bug in the GingerDX series. Just wait for doixanh to fix it.
Hi, I have some problems with my NST and really need your help!
1/ I bought my NST over a year ago, running firmware 1.1 and rooted by TouchNooter method for 1.1 and it worked flawlessly!
2/ Lately, I've found out that B&N released firmware 1.2. So I unroot my Nook (using 8 steps button to factory reset) and then upgrade to firmware 1.2.
3/ I also know that the NST with 1.2 firmware can be rooted so I backed my Nook up and try the GlowNooter method (some guys said it can work on NST)!
4/ I rooted my NST successfully w/ GlowNooter (be able to download app from Market, can see the Launcher)!
5/ When i try to open the Super Manager and Opera Mini (app that are installed along with this method), the screen flashes and get back to the homescreen!
6/ Because there is no Manager app on my Nook, I need to downloadd a free Manager app on Market, and sideload Root Manager app (bc I'm familiar with this app) from the SD card.
7/ I can install the app from the SD card, but when i press to run, it act like in number 5, although I check *Allow non-market app* in Nook Color Tools!
8/ I think this rooting method does not support my NST, so I reset my Nook using Noogie img to firmware 1.2!
9/ I try to use the NookManager method to root it but the thing happens again (be able to root to the launcher screen, but can't open the app installed along w/)!
I am sorry that I write a long post but can anyone help me with this problem?
Thank you so much for your help!
Jake!
Can anyone help me pls?
Starving for help!
I'dlove to help, although I don't know how to solve the problem.
But I'd love to see the answer as I'm thinking to update my nook, and don't know how I'll do it, yet.

Opera mini is badly build to that method. I'd say make a reset, upgrade to 1.2.1 and root using Nook Manager. I guess it is not worth wasting time on checking what is wrong, though you may try to reboot, reinstall, clean apps data...

I think you didn't read the post carefully! I try both NookManager and GlowNooter for more than 2 times (reset after each method) but thing happens the same! Not only just Opera but all the app!
Opera Mini is a piece of junk, try Opera Mobile (slightly less a piece of junk).
Clear the cache:
Code:
adb shell rm -R /data/dalvik-cache/*
Reinstall the app.
If all else fails, post a logcat output of it bombing.

I have to say I'm not familiar with the adb Connect but I follow your instruction to clear the Dalvik Cache by using CWM!
The apps (SuperManager, ASTRO, Root Explorer and so on) still cannot be opened!
I choose the app, then the screen flashes, back to home screen and nothing happens!
BTW, can you tell me how to change the #164 Kernel using Noogie img, because this kernel doesn't have zip file to run in CWM and I don't know how to use the ADB Connect!
Thank you!
Jake.
Any help, pls?
Odp: [Q] Problem running apps on rooted NST!
Download any zip to update your kernel, and replace the uImage in zip with the one you wish to install.

I'm newbie have a 1.2.1 firmware rooted with nook manager, everthing was working great but now some apps specially cool reader, it dosent save bookmarks o recent books, also opera can't download files, and other apps get error on sync, I guess the apps are unable write some files, i'm stoked, and i don't know how to solve it. i was guessing what i did, but i just kill the superuser app by accident. that some one has this problem before. also, when i unplug the sd card i can't open books. I tried to roote againg but didnt work, i asume is a problem with permissions, but i really don't know what to do. I tried to see permissions with root explorer, but in system folder i can't its normal?. (sorry for my bad english)
I solved this problem when i first got the phone rooted, but had to root again and 2 days of looking and i cant refind the solution. can anyone give me a hand please? TB says it cannot access system/xbin/su and i definetly have root. i installed busybox to that location also. Thanks
I fixed it. I used SeLinuxModeChanger app.
