[Q] [REQ] Dual Boot for HTC HD mini - HD Mini General

We need a dual boot app for mini,so when we restart phone,we can choose either to run android or wm 6.5.
anyone can help for it???

Yes, we know but the HTC mini has Bootloader locked, and must be unlocked.
And Of Course this is needed, but first we need a stable ready android for our phone.
This Dual Boot can be developed after full stable android for mini htc.

There are some "dual boot" programs for wimo out here on xda.
They are not real bootloaders but apps that runs right after wimo started and let you choose to boot android or stay on wimo.
Try this one.
Dont know if it works on Mini, but there are more apps like that.

i made a quick test for the dual-boot app.
it loads windows, then it shows the selection screen, unfortunately im afraid the resolution is not compatible with hdmini...
if you managed to make it work please tell me ;-)

I believe nsourm has an app in one of his roms that dual boots

Yes, he is using that one I posted before.
But I think he modified it.

mskip has kindly ported his HD2 Android Loader to the HD Mini. It is currently being tested and once made final, the dual loader for HD Mini will be uploaded to the HD Mini Android forum. These are definitely exciting times for the Android porting project.

Mods: Please close this Thread

havent posted anything on this website for absolutlely ages!
thaught i might of even been struck off!
but I HAVENT!
lol
i havent actually got the htc phone thtat i want so i cant give you accurate help, but when i feel low and my mum and girlfriends drive me mad and the world towers above above me i oftern sit there with either an emulator of wm5.0 - 6.1 or i just drool over my dream machiene in google, wishing my mum would just buy me one!
anyway, Dual boot.... i came across a program while i was looking for the possibilities of running multiple operating systems on a HTC device and i found one,
"Gen.Y DualBOOT Dual boot solution for Windows Mobile devices with XDANDROID"
i cant try it out as i dont have my phone yet! but i think if some one has a HTC device and wants to dual boot this maybe the solution...
"This is only a bootlauncher app, you still need to install Android for yourself on your device"
you need to get the operating system yourself but this is the loader which will load the operating system for you,
wont waste any more of your time with my essay, as im sure your not that interested but heres a link to the mother site of GenY anyway, take a peek and see if it can help you,
http://www.pocketpc-freeware.net/ht...lities-tag/gen-y-dualboot-download-26847.html
& i quickly googled especially for you as i have nothing better to do...
http://www.unwiredview.com/2010/01/...ual-boot-solution-for-windows-mobile-android/
Hope it works for you and you get the results you desire without loosing what you have!

Please wake up. This question was answered back in July. Look around, the nand version is nearly there!

[Q] any methods for porting the aria rom to htc mini.

I wana android to my htc mini. But i didn't find the suitable rom. anyone help? thanks!
Currently here roms are still in beta, my suggestion would to select a more popular device that has more support than us
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
the android kitchen can port roms from one device to another. i've messed with it on occasion and just doing the basic port process generally results in the rom loading, but a lot of things not working (bluetooth, wifi, camera, etc).
its a good place to start, though.

True but mine has about 20 min of use right now, and I have trust issues on the net.
Well IMO if you have trust issues then stay away from windows mobile. I just upgraded a month back from a windows mobile phone. Interface worked decent but not only was it restrictive it what it allowed me to do it didn't like me to tinker and customize it the way it worked. At least with the android based phone I can see the inner working, understand how and what is going on. And I can disallow whatever I feel isn't good for me.

you can't put winmo on an android phone.
If you can put android on a winmo phone why can we not at the least dual boot on a android phone

Its difficult, with winmo we could shutdown winmo with a app and load a os into the phone through the SD card but still there was alot of compatability issues. I'm assuming its going to be the same the other way. Camera will never work or radio ect..

Probably has to do with the fact that you'd be moving out of the grey area of rom flashing and firmly into pirating since you never attained a winmo license.
Which would also mean most sites wont allow it since your work becomes a liability.

its not pirating really, if so then my tilt2 had pirated software on it, i had htc sense (winmo6.5) ported from the hd2 to it plus i dual booted android 2.1 and had a full fledged linux on at some point
the real problem is the reverse engineering which no one wants to do, and i dont speak for all people but for alot of people winmo is become less than useful not saying it sucks because i loved my tilt2 but it had its limitations that my aria doesnt

That version of Sense you had was reverse engineered to a certain point. I can bet you if you took the cab straight from the hd2 and installed it on the Tilt, it either wouldn't install ir would be very, very buggy.
And as i said, doing this would move you out of that gray area. One could make an argument that you've paid for a license for WinMo and Sense and by flashing these new ROMs you're just updating. You can argue the other side, but thats why its called a gray area.
Android in its most basic form is FOSS. Google's apps aren't, but the OS itself is. You can legally install it on whatever you can get it to run on. To be fair, i don't know how they handle distributing it.
Windows Mobile on the other hand is licensed. You HAVE to pay for a new license otherwise you're pirating the os.

Your right and I'm not trying to be an ass
But to break that license you would hafta sell the software modified. They finally passed a law stating basically if its given to the open public it can be modified all u want untilled is sold then its illegal. The one good thing apple brought upon us
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
Not exactly. I think its if you distribute it, not just selling it. From Engadget:
Basically, they just can't sue you for the specific act of breaking their protections but there's nothing stopping them from putting those protections in there in the first place, or for suing you for an infringement not covered in this exception -- like distributing Apple code in a non- Apple-approved way, or installing illegal or pirated software.

i realize this shouldnt be much of a problem to port
the only problem is probably the bootloader and recovery mode are for different OS's but otherwise these phones are almost exactly the same
although i have no idea how to port anything
Not to annoy anybody, but is there somebody even trying to port Android from the Aria to the Mini at this moment? Or is this a real dead one...?
Since the hardware is almost exactly the same, the only major thing should be a safe way to flash from WinMo to Android, or am I wrong?
Guys, are there any developers around here that can give an indication of how hard it is to port an Aria Android Rom onto the HD Mini? Could it be possible that just putting the Aria Rom on a HD Mini will give a 90% working phone (trackpad/screen/windows button are the only differences as far as i know)?

[Q] Android on my HTC Trophy 7

Dear Amazing developers,
I am sure you have encountered this question several times but I just need to understand if I can install Android system on my HTC Trophy 7, I am hating how microsoft is hounding their users in such stupid way. Please advise.
Thank you so much
Not possible....yet. But, team from XDA.CN are working on Android ROM currently for HTC HD7. I think that if they make it for HD7, it could be done for all wp7s out there...
Here's the video about their progress.

Unfortunately noone does... I can guess that it might me avalible in let's say 1 month or more... If you ask me, I would love it to be avalible tomorrow, but i highly
doubt it happening.

don't encounter heavy problems during the realisation of this project!
looooooool... Yep thats exactly what am doing RIGHT NOW
I can wait , just cant get into WP7 Ive tried and tried to like it but its still a 50/50 thing.
i think if the HD7 has nand Android i think its not so hard to port then Android
to Trophy and Mozart because they has the same CPU.

Why don't you just sell you WP7 phone and get yourself a new Android device ? The market price on a Trophy is as high as it's going to be, so you'll get the most for it now.
Also you don't not have to worry about Hacking Android to get it on the phone, that sometimes might not offer the best performace or hardware not working correctly.
Just wondering...
Is there anything new about putting Android on HTC Trophy, since last reply and asking about this was about the end of April..?
Thanks, and thumbs up for developers...
Nope, nothing new.
Please get yourself and stock android phone, i perfer WP7 over ANDROID everyday.
because they all have android least the trophy? Someday there will be someone dared you succeed? (before you break into pedas) jajaja
Some info to all the xda.cn video is just a fake confirmed by cotulla
anyone knows if somebody is doing it..? I mean, dooes it 'fits' on HTC Trophy..?
thanks
Why would anyone want to do this? And even more important why would anyone want to build a ROM? Screw Android. I'd rather someone make a Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM for the Trophy instead of this crap.
I do not agree with you... I believe it would be better if android fits on HTC Trophy... That possibility would be great!

Install "Go Launcher EX".
Go and search "HTC Sense 4" in market (Play Store).
Enjoy.
It's not sure yet. DEVs are working on this. Hope they will pass some basic hurdle. But yes it's booting you can find ICS sense 4 in DEV section. It's not for daily use but you can flash it and see how it looks.

Hi Pajerm
I have this habit of starting everything from scratch when i want to make a new ROM. So, i have cleared out the kitchen of my Evolution series ROMs. And as MS officially made WM dead, i didn't try to make a new ROM since, it's been more than a year now i think.
Hello!
Hi guys! For those who know me as the forum moderator over here, I am the former "SHR" who released those WM6.1 lite versions! How's all? I just wished there was a good rom with the start button still on top! Good to see Jagan back although he left when we actually needed a back bone for our device! And then pajerm! All the nice guys are here! I still use the Opal. On the stock WM 6.1 for now. Haven't really tried any rom for now!
Hope everyone is fine!

[WP8.1] Windows Phone 8.1 port for the M7

Hi guys,
May most of u read about the HTC W8 from evleaks. I dont know if its true but lets say there will be a W8 with the same Hardware specs as the M8 would it then maybe be possible to port WP8 to the M8 and from that base to the M7?
Just an idea...what u think about?

this could be a good news for him

overall talking about the windows phone and not about lumias.
wp8 devices(samsung and huawei) have been jailbroken which is called interlop unlock.
also lumia 520 has been interlop unlocked using j-tag. so it is highly possible that other lumias may follow soon.
