[Q] CM7 & Bluetooth? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK, am I missing something? When I check 'Turn on Bluetooth' in CM7, it says "Turning on...", but never does turn on. It eventually just unchecks the box and once again says 'Turn on Bluetooth.' Does bluetooth not work in CM7, version 7.0.3? (I thought it was supposed to.) Thx for any and all insight!

Not sure about 7.0.3 but on 7.1 rc, it does, but it depends on the device and I think it looks like there isn't an actual bluetooth antenna so you are limited to anywhere between 1 to 3 feet in regards to distance from the nook itself.
There are signfiicant issues with headsets.

I use a method described elsewhere on one of these threads. When it first says 'turning on', press and hold the 'on' button, as if you're going to do a hard reboot. Should show enabled after that. Now, when I do that, it engages almost immediately. Good luck.

Wi-Fi is neither on nor off

Hey all,
I somehow managed to screw up my Wi-Fi so it now appears to be turned on, even though it's not. The problem is, I can't turn it on..or off. Comm manager won't work. The Connections icon on the top bar of the today screen shows it as on and connected, when I click the icon the big button seems to let me turn the Wifi off, but when I hide the panel and show it again, it stays the same as before. And the other text on the panel writes "Turn Wi-Fi On". Umm..the last few sentences might look a bit confusing..well I have the Laurentius WM6 ROM (AKU 0.5 update 1 I think) so apart from the standard Turn Wi-Fi On/Off text (that looks like an internet link ), there's also a big button serving the same purpose. And simply put, the button looks as if the Wi-Fi was on, and the "link" as if it was off. I hope you get what I'm trying to say here Anyway, I tried hard-reseting the device and everything got fine again, until I restored my full backup (created by Sprite Backup 5 about a minute before the hard reseting). After that, the WiFi problem is back. Anyone got an idea what it could be caused by or what to do to get rid of it please?
Many thanks, Longlife
Well, the problem is solved, dunno how it happened but now everything works just fine Sorry for bothering :S

When you turn on the switch, does the top-left LED blink green?
Also, what happens in the Comm Manager when you turn on the Wi Fi switch?

What do you mean? which switch, the wifi switch? no lights come on when I switch on Wifi...
When I turn Wifi on and off, The Comm Managers "Flight Mode" Button Turns on And Off... But thats when PHONE is also off... If phone is on, and I switch Wifi on/off, nothing happens
Sounds like you might have a broken switch or a bad wifi chip.
No....
I'm pretty sure the switch is fine.... even if the switch was broken, I could turn wifi on and off manually...
I'm not exactly sure why the wifi chip would be bad... The phone is almost new....
I'm asking for any fixes or any programs for my pocket pc that might fix this? I really don't want to mess with the hardware...
I'm pretty sure its the software anyway...

I think Drewcam may be right. If your switch (and there is only one switch on our phones - the WiFi switch) does not cause the top-left LED to blink green, and activating WiFi in the Comm Manager doesn't do it either, there is something really wrong. You may want to try flashing back to stock. And if that doesn't work, bring it to your carrier's store because you have a broken part of the phone.
I have the exact same problem and the exact same result with the "fix"....
Um....
Well, there is a green LED that flashes every few seconds, but it flashes even when Wifi is OFF...
I'm going to try to reflash to stock rom, anyone have a link to it?
I have semi-good news!
I reflashed to verizons stock rom, and after a hour or two, I checked my phone, and It had found my router (and two green LEDs were flashing) ... I could not connect because the security key was wrong, and soon after, I lost the connection...
A few minutes after that, it detected my router again... and lost it again....
Is this a good sign? The wifi started working randomly, and it stopped working randomly, I'm beginning to think there may be a loose connection...

It sounds as if you have a broken WiFi switch, but I'm glad you had it working temporarily. If you can get it to stay in the "on" position, then you can use the software to turn it on/off. Unfortunately, it doesn't work if the switch is stuck on "off".

Disabling Wi-Fi

Hey,
I am having problems disabling my Wi-Fi. To be honest this isn't really a problem because my Wi-Fi is faster than mobile data transfers. Having said that though, obviously i would like the option to turn it off.
I havn't changed anything today on my phone so no software changes etc. Just on 'Comm Manager' on the Wi-Fi switch the whole line is light grayed out (and therefore i cant do anything)
Tried the standard turn off/turn on, soft reset, holding power button and terminate data connection, yet it is still grayed out and still on...
Any Ideas?
Sorry if there is already a similar post. I had a quick look and search but couldn't find anything to help. Please point in the right direction if there is.

Go to Settings, Menu, All Settings, Connection, Wi-fi. There's a checkbox there for turning on and off. You may find that doing this re-enables the one on the comm manager, otherwise, you're stuck with doing it that way (for some strange reason).
I'd also recommend the Wifi shortcut on the cab thread in the HD2 themes and apps forum. I have that in my quicklinks so I can quickly toggle the wifi on and off whenever I get home or to work or a friend's house etc..
Cheers bud.
Thats turned it off, but yeh as you suspected it doesn't enable me to do it in comm manager. Do you think you could give me a link to that quick link?

Yes mate - it's in my signature - the cabs link. You want the Touch X reset and wifi cab. It creates shortcuts in your start menu, and you can then add them as quicklinks if you want.
This may well be a stupid question, but is the device connected to PC with a USB cable just now?
hicks:
Nope, not currently... It was earlier though... If that is meant to make it so you cant toggle it, maybe it might be stuck like that from earlier... I will try plugging it back in later and see if this sorts it.
Cheers

Excellent cheers! haha didn't see it there

They weren't there earlier. I decided that you'd be the last person I'd search for those threads myself for
legend.
Oh and yeh seems it was a minor fault... plugged it back into comp and disconnected again, seems to be sorted in comm manager now.

Wifi connection keeps enabling itself

I've just done a ROM upgrade to 1.66.707.1, and now my Wifi connection kees enabling itself.
I'm sure that I missed something to make it not connect, but what?
Anyone here who might have a clue what it could be?
Thank you.
Hmm that sounds like something I have seen before. I had a similar issue when I had the hd2 12 button action screen installed. Do you have that?

No.. I've not installed that.
I'm also not using Stocks, Weather, Internet time sync and so on, and I thing that if I would, the phone would use the gprs option.
Tomorrow, I'll re check all applications that I'm running to see if I've missed a setting.
Im just curious.
When you disable/enable wifi do you use the comm.manager or another program???

Switch the phone into airplane mode (in the comm manager) and the startup wizard should popup. Just run through that process.

Maybe put it in airplane mode and restart it. It sounds like the issue that some others have had after installing 1.66. It runs the setup wizard in the background, and that automatically starts wifi. My biggest concern if this is the case is that your phone isn't set up to work on the network yet.
Try it anyway and see how you get on.

Okay.. I've put it in "Airplane mode", turned off and back on the phone.
Still not setup wizard.
Did the same thing again and soft reset. Still no setup wizard.
I'm going to give it some more runs, but if no luck I will install an other ROM (custom one), to see if my problem is gone.
I'll report back if I know more.
Thank you for your input.
re: isn't set up to work on the network yet
It is.. All my network connections are working fine.
I think is an issue of Wifi Toggle.
I had the same issue and stopped using it.

More information would be necessary to tell you that.
- Do you see APs?
- Is the reported signal good?
- When you connect, does it connect at all or indicate a failure?
- If it connects, does it drop and reconnect continuously?
- Does it work on open APs with no security?
- Did you install any items that modify your wireless properties (like PMR?)
- Did you try with stock and see if it connects more quickly?
There are lots of potential issues totally aside from your WLAN radio failing.
The problem that I have is that in cm10 roms ( try few) the wi-fi slider sometimes is highliter and will turn on and sometimes will not be highlater and will not turn on. I went back to GB rom original and in Sense, I can turn on, but with error. It happen about 2 weeks ago and ever since, I have that problem. I can not remember what I did at that time, but I did not :mess: with radio. I did took the back cover of ( try to fix the sound). Did I mess up something there?. Look like the wi-fi acting up and will turn on when want to - I got nothing to say - just like my ex.
I decided to use some "bad" words against my phone and the wi-fi turn it self on. I am not joking. Go figure. The problem that I see - I can not use those kind of words in public.

Hmm. If you're having that happen on stock, that's not good.
Okay, so you did something to it mechanically two weeks ago for sound issues and then your radio started to act up? When you say 'back cover', do you mean just popping the battery cover off, or taking it apart to fix connections? Perhaps something got knocked loose or unseated?
I did remove the motherboard cover to get to the speaker. I think that my have mess up something. Time for new phone any way. Thanks.
