We May have a problem here , You bought the telstra next G phone and it wont be fully functional (from my understanding) unless its on the next g network
radio will work , not sure if your sim is fully compatible with the phone

Hi everyone,
I bought a Nexus 4 few months back for my gf and she has been liking it. It used to work with LTE on Bell but since 4.2.2 I think it is disabled. However, I am looking to buy one for myself now. I am on Fido (Rogers is mother company). Should I expect LTE to work on my Fido with an easy work around like changing the radio baseband?
I will be looking to order a new one tonight.
Any input is much appreciated.
Thanks
I am on Fido and LTE working, use .33 radio and search for the LTE instructions. I am assuming you know how to root and flash radio.

1- I hoped I never have to root a stock version from Google but I don't mind doing it if I have to. What are the disadvantages of Rootin or rolling back to .33 radio? I will have to weigh my options.
2- When LTE worked before the phone had to be set to LTE again upon restart, is that fixed now so it's a permanent change?
3- Is there a ROM that is a basic basic stock image (not like CM Mod) that I can use and yet enjoy the .33 radio?
Thanks
You have to root phone in order to flash old radio. 4.2.2 uses .48 radio, and LTE only works on .33 radio. So this have to be done. Please search around the forum on rooting and enable LTE. Good luck!

Thanks again. Does rooting void the warranty? If yes, is there any way to "unroot"

So, would the "unrooting" make the phone look just like it was never rooted or would Google know regardless?

Yep. Even works for RMAs. I unrooted, relocked the bootloader, and flashed back stock rom on my RMA Nexus 4 to send it back. Google doesn't know.
Since I've installed 4.3 yesterday my SIM card locked up a few times randomly. It also happens when the screen is off. I just lose all signal and then I have to enter my SIM pin. I have no idea why this is happening and I didn't experience it before.

Anyone?
Factory reset didn't fix it either. I'll try another radio later.

I had the same problem twice since my update to 4.3 (which was Sunday). Both happened when I travelled between two buildings of the company I work in - in both buildings I have wifi-access, between these buildings I only have GSM (and in some spots no GSM-reception at all). Maybe the switchover between wifi, GSM and "no reception" causes the radio to crash.
After the factory reset, did you restore your apps with a tool like Titanium Backup?
I always do that yes, but since I installed the .48 radio I haven't had any problems yet . Sorry for not updating it here; I already did in another thread I thought.

Hello, how do you like the .48 radio? i was having the same problem with you with .84 radio and stock ROM 4.3. My carrier is tele2 and this problem forced me to flash older radio which .33.
However, I couldn't receive SMS from abroad now.. Do you know what might be the problem?

Why did you flash radio .33 and not radio .48?
.48 solved my problems, everything works fine
Yup, .48 works fine. I don't know about foreign text messages since I haven't used that with this ROM and radio yet.

Im currently runing on the 4.2.2 basesband (M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.48) to flash a 4.3 rom do i have to update the Newest baseband ????
I had some issues trying to keep an older radio when I first moved to 4.3, I only held onto it for lte purposes but I found some awesome hybrid radios that worked flawless.
Search out the radio thread and grab the latest hybrid, works great if you want to have lte enabled with some of the newest ROMs (that may not support lte out of the box)
And be sure to thank the dev that created them

would the hybrid radio work on Paranoidandroid ?? cause it asks for you to be on the latest radio
Yes it should work, there are a couple hybrids of the latest ones, again not needed if you don't use lte, but if you do they're great!

So I've read the stickies and posted in the forum but I need yk see if anyone can help me out with LTE. I have att service on a stock non rooted n4 I've dialed *#*#4636#*#* changed my network type but it doesn't stick so I can't select lte in my settings and I'm not getting it regardless of my APN settings ... Anyone have any ideas of what's going on outside of rooting and flashing a different modem or radio .. Any help is appreciated ... Thanks

You need to flash a hybrid radio unless you never updated past stock 4.2.1,
newer radioes have the code disabled since it hasnt been approved by the FCC for LTE

The Nexus 4 does not support all of the AT&T LTE bands. It lacks the most commonly used LTE bands for AT&T and therefore can only be used in a couple of cities. If you do live in one of those cities, you need to unlock the bootloader and flash a hybrid radio.
OK I've been reading and I'm a little confused is there a solid working root and bootloader unlock for 4.4.2 ?

You can flash any baseband (aka radio) you want but, in order for LTE to work, you will need to flash a hybrid radio. For 4.4.2, you would need radio version .98 or .97
There was a recently released app that makes installing or changing either the hybrid or stock radios extremely easy. I used to use the manual method until this came along:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/app-nexus-4-modem-flasher-lte-enabler-t2607221
As was also mentioned, AT&T Band 4 is not available in too many areas, so don't be surprised if you never get LTE.
My fried bought a Galaxy S4 from AT&T when he was in US. While leaving the country he bought an unlock code from AT&T and unlocked the phone using the same in India. His phone was working fine initially. Then sudden signal loss started to occur and need to restart the phone to get the signal back. Tried using different Indian carriers and the same issue continued. Will I be able to solve this issue by flashing a custom rom into his phone? Do I need to take care of anything else, like the modem firmware or something. Attaching a screen shot of his phone details. Please help guys..

You could try reflashing the same MDL firmware first. If that doesn't work, then install TWRP and try the different flashable modems.

Thank you for the reply.. However we have already tried a factory reset.. Will it be a problem if I flash the modem firmware available in the Indian Galaxy S4?? The Indian version comes with an exynos octa processor instead of the Qualcomm one..

Doing a factory reset is different from reflashing the firmware. I don't think the other modems would work, but I'm not entirely sure. If they're recovery zips you could try, but if they're ODIN files it definitely won't work.

I have tried reflashing the phone with Odin. The device now has the latest Android 4.4.2 firmware from AT&T. It seemed to work fine after flashing. We got the network and were able to make calls as well. However after sometime the signal got cutoff itself. Tried flashing again, the same thing happens. Any other suggestions??
