Hi,
since I flashed my Nook to the latest nightly and now to 7.1 RC1 I don't have any additional governors any more. I flashed the Kernel correctly after the rom and I can choose the higher clock speeds. However, I still only have the three standard governors. (conservative, ondemand, performance) With 7.0.3 I had at least interactive as an additional option. How do I get the other governors? Which one is the best option for standard use?
I use the emmc version of the latest Dalingrin kernel and CM7 is installed on emmc.

As Dalingrin has noted in the Kernel thread, interactive has been removed; the three govs you have are the only ones you are supposed to have. I can tell that without a full read it might be easy to miss, so yeah... that is what is happening.

Hey guys,
I'm sure this has been addressed SOMEWHERE, but my searches didn't turn up anything (or anything I could decipher, anyway). (0: Where can I find an OC kernel for CM7 emmc 7.0.3?
The new Dalingrin CM7 kernels don't work for 7.0.3, and Idk what date under his kernel listings correspond to the 7.0.3 version. Thanks for all help!

This is the latest ext4 OC Kernel for 7.0.3 Stable

You Really should consider moving over to the latest nightly! So many more options in Overclocking and running Dal's new tweaks app for cpu ramping and audio management. And so many more advances
On Nook Color Tweaks, I can only tweak the audio settings. The book and CPU settings don't work. When I try to overclock with nook tweaks, it tells me that "Kernel is not compatible with CPU settings. A newer build of Dalingrin's overclock kernel is required".
I'm running the CM7.1.0 RC1 encore with 2.6.32.9 erick at myhost #87 kernel.
Sorry for the ultra noob question, but please help.
Thank youl.
I don't think you are running dalingrins newest kernal. I'm pretty sure it is not the default kernal for RC1.
Sure for dalingrin and download and flash his 6-30-2011 kernel for the nook.

I'm not sure if that's the right kernal michael.
Might need to get the one before that. If I remember correctly, the rc-1 came out before he adjusted the kernal for the more recent nightlies.
2.6.32.9 seems to be the Dalingrin's OC 063001 kernel, at least on my NC.
Suggestion: it won't hurt if you re-install just the kernel (060301)
I'm running cm 7.0.3.-encore from a sandisk class 4 16 gb card. I've tried updating rom with rom manager to 7.1.0-RC1. Rom manager reboots into recovery mode but never updates the rom. I also dl'ed the 6/30/11 dalingrin oc kernal, put it on the sd boot, and reboot but nothing is updated. Therefore I'm unable to update or overclock the Nook.
Re: my earlier problem, I was eventually able to flash 7.1.0-RC1, install a newer kernal with oc capabilities and oc my Nook. However, I had so many problems with disappearing icons, lockups, etc. that I went back to 7.0.3.-encore. It is much more stable, if a little slower, on my setup.
Hi all,
I am loving my 2 NC. Both are 1.4.1 and have been manual nooted using the latest 5.0.1.21 package. I'd like to oc them and I'm confused how to get the latest Dalingrin kernel. I assume the latest kernel was release 09/01/11. This thread indicates the latest kernel is now delivered with CM7. Ok, I use that when I dual boot into CM7, but not running Nooted.
Where do I get the kernel? Do I need to strip it from CM7?
All of Dalingrin's kernels are listed here, however the 090111 directory contains files with reference to 1.2. I've been lead to believe his latest NC kernel was made for 1.3. Are those the correct kernels for a nooted NC running 1.4.1?
If not, where do I get the 1.3 kernel which supports Nook Color Tweaks?

Just use the kernel from the 090111 folder. If you look in the Dalingrin kernel thread, LINK, under updates you will see that on 9/01/11 he updated to 1.3 source code. The kernel code between 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4.1 did not change a whole lot. Between the 1.3 and 1.4.1 kernel code, only 1 file changed that applies to use, so it really is not a big deal to use that file on 1.4.1. Nook Color Tweaks works just fine on 1.4.1 with that file.

From the link you provided, as you can see, one for "emmc" and one for "sdcard", just make sure you take the correct version.
So I purchased the Franco Kernel Updater and am setting the max cpu frequency to 1000 Mhz (and setting it to save on boot) but it just won't stick, always reverting back to 1300 Mhz once stressed. Tried switching governor from interactive to ondemand, and deadline to noop but to no avail.
I've also tried Trickster mod but it's still not saving the max frequency either Strangely, setting minimum frequencies (other than 100 Mhz) seem to stick...anyone know why?
I'm running a N7 3G 4.2.1, with Franco kernel r38 and Paranoid 2.99 beta 9.5 rom
Grab the powerhal fix from here, that will sort your CPU issues

Thanks, I'll give it a shot
EDIT: After flashing, rebooted but did not seem to work. Still reverts to 1300 mhz. Tried rebooting a few more times, tried a different powerhal fix (by motley), updated busybox and superSU, reinstalled Franco Kernel Updater even. Any other options?
Just tried it here and restarted. Franco's app and tricksterMOD are both showing 1000 max. (Trickster showed the cpu cycled to 1200 for a sec when it opened but then it went back to 1000).
You said you tried reinstalling the apps but did you try reflashing the kernel? IDK.
ETA: in Franco's app it shows max CPU @ 1300 but when you click on it to set it 1000 is still selected.
I had that problem with changing GPU speed.
Try cleaning data of that app or reflashing kernel, it seems to be r38 bug
I tried what you guys suggested, clearing the data off the app, and also reflashing the kernel but it's still not sticking.
I rolled back to franco's kernel r37, to see if it was just an issue with the latest version but same story. I'm completely stumped
Could it be the Paranoid rom interfering with the kernel? Or is the kernel's latest version r38 not compatible with the Powerhal fix (since it was originally meant for lean kernel?)
The powerhal fix is not kernel based, rather it is os based so you shouldn't have any issues there with compatibility as such.
I have not used Franco kernel or the updater for a bit, so all I can suggest is setting the frequencies in trickster then going to settings and enabling 'set on boot' option to see if that works.

Yea I did try Trickster mod but it's the same. So I guess Ive thrown in the towel and will just have to stick to the full frequency range and undervolt across the board. Thanks anyway for the help guys.
As the title says, I'm looking to overclock after I just flashed to CM 10 after having CM7. CM7 had this built into the CyanogenMod settings, however, it doesn't seem to be there in CM10. After looking around I guess it was disabled due to the kernel that CM uses. Does anyone have a kernel that they can recommend for CM 10 or other ways to overclock? (And yes, I heard SetCPU doesn't have any affect)
Thanks in advance.

The stock CM 10 kernel for the Nook Color can overclock up to 1100 MHz. You need to enable developer settings by going to Settings ยป About tablet and tap 7 times on the Build number label. The the Performance section will appear in the settings. You can configure the CPU speed from there. There is a test kernel that was posted to the CM10.2 development thread that can overclock to 1200 MHz, that you can flash from recovery; note that some people reported the Nook to be a bit unstable, and others reported it to work fine. YMMV.
Thanks for the tip. I did not know about the tap 7 times thing but that would make it easier to do than installing a new kernel. I may try it later on, though. I know the Nook hardware isn't very capable but anything helps.
