My friend wanted me to root his nook color, so I thought might as well. I don't know where he got it, but it was on the setup screen, I was out and about so I turned it off. I get home to turn it on and it doesn't respond. I plug in with my phone charger. Nothing. With the nook charger. Nothing. No lights or anything. Any ideas?

When the screen turns on when you connect the charger just push the power button for a second and the screen will turn back off again. This will reduce the power consumption if your not using it and allow it to charge a bit quicker.
Same thing with mine. Anytime its off, or I turn it off and plug it in via usb or ac it still turns on. I think it's programed to do so. Lol

It will always turn the Nook on when you plug it in. You need to plug it in first and let it boot, then shut down while still plugged in.
Ok thanks ill try that

My S3 has started a strange charging problem and I hope someone here can help. My S3 has been charging fine and showing the LED, but since I plugged the phone into my laptop USB, now the phone stops charging if the screen is on. It doesn't matter if it is connected to a wall outlet or USB.....turn on the screen and the LED goes out and the unit stops charging. Under "Battery" options in settings it shows as connected and charging, but it isn't actually charging any. Use the power button to turn off the screen and the LED lights back up and the unit starts charging for real. I've turned off the LED(unchecked it) then turned it back on....no difference. Rebooted etc.....nada.
Phone is bone stock AT&T and I'm new to Android. Hoping it is a simple setting that somehow got changed.
Led is supposed to turn off when charging and screen is on.

You misunderstood part of the post. Not only does the LED turn off, it stops charging with the screen on. Under Battery options it "says" the battery IS charging, but it really isn't. Battery level continues to drop. Turn off the screen and it starts actually charging again.
Well it may be because you are using more power than its putting into the phone. Or it may just be defective. Have you tried another Rom yet?

Are you using the USB cable that came with your S3? Is your laptop plugged in our running on battery when this happens? I also believe that you might be using more amps to run the screen and Wi-Fi and whatever else is running on the phone than the USB can output. What generation USB port is in your laptop?

If there is a thunderbolt on the battery icon, then that means it's charging. When you turn on the LED option when charging, it only turns red when the screen is off, and turns green when it's full.

So, my phone ran out for battery and died. Plugged it in over an hour ago, but the phone will not switch on. Anything I can do?

Nope!
Something similar happened a couple of days ago. Held the power button for around 10 seconds and a red notification light came on. I think it was flashing as well. About 10 or so minutes later the screen came on. This time the phone is just dead...
Have you tried any button combos like- power + volume up + volume down.
Also did the phone run out of battery normally or was there any battery drain?
This doesn't look good for n4.
Hold power and vol +/- to enter recovery mode and then restart.
But before make sure ur charger or outlet works.

None of the combos work. It's as if it's not charging...
Weird. Plugged it into my laptop to check if that worked. Nothing. Plugged it back to the mains and a red notification light started flashing. After about a minute the screen came on with the battery animation. I managed to switch the phone on now. The wallpaper was reset to the stock one, but everything else seems to be fine.
Hello. I've had nexus for a few weeks now. Tonight i was surfing the Web and the screen started blinking on and off rapidly. It finally shut off. Now it will not boot. I tryed getting into the bootloader by holding volume up and down and power. I get nothing. If I plug it into the charger... The battery icon comes on the screen but that's it. If my nexus fried? Is there anything else I can do?

Screen blinking rapidly on and off? I'd call Google. I'm sure they would send out a replacement.

Yeah I called them. I they are sending a replacement. I have to pretty much pay for a new one untill they get the old one back.
This really sucks. What could this be?

I've had my nexus freeze while using chrome a few times. All I do is hold the power button until it reboots. Has worked for every time.
The flickering screen does not seem normal. Glad google is giving you a replacement.

I've had the exact same problem as OP. I was browsing in Chrome when the backlight started flickering. Wearing headphones but with no sound, I was able to hear faint static that correlated with the darkness of the screen (when the screen was dim mid-flicker, noise was produced). I had it set to a specific brightness setting, so I switched to automatic using the drop-down settings menu. The problem persisted. I did not exit Chrome. I tapped the power button which gave a normal enough looking fade out. After about 5 seconds I tapped the power button again to power the device on. The Chrome screen I had been looking at when I powered the screen off flashed briefly on my screen accompanied by a bit of static and a slight pop, and the device went black. I have not gotten a response from the device since except for, like OP, when the device is plugged into the wall. Then I only get a battery icon with a lightning bolt for 1 second every time I push the power button.
After calling the warranty information number, Google is sending me a replacement device. They do not make you pay $400 (in my case, as I had the 16Gb) but authorize a payment of that amount so that if you do not return the device within 21 days they are not left high and dry. Seems reasonable to me.
Anyway, just adding my experience with this issue to the forum. OP is not the only one to get this symptom!
I just got this same issue. Was reading my news feeds on Google Reader, it seemingly froze up for a few seconds, then the screen started flickering when touched, and finally went black. Device is non-responsive except when plugged in, where it'll display the battery icon for a few seconds.
I do not know if this is related, but I was also having the charging glitch where it would power down with "0% battery" when plugged in or unplugged seemingly at random, and the long wake-up issue.
Now I am trying to get the device awake enough to be recognized by my pc so i can adb backup my data, but so far I am getting nowhere T.T
Basically my phone was completely fine when I left it, then when I came back an hour or so later it wouldn't turn on. So I put it on charge, which I thought to be odd as it had nearly full battery when I left it, then I still couldn't turn it on. I tried to reset with the power and volume down key but it didn't work it just gave me a red flashing light in the notification light. Has anyone else had this issue, if so is there any way to resolve it or am I better off contacting google about the issue?
