[Q] Please assist, issue after attempted rooting! - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Well I got my hands on a Nook Color as a prize for a contest I was in, I played with the stock operating system and it did no justice for what Android is really capable of, so naturally I came here to figure out how I can change that. I'm experienced with rooting things like the HTC Incredible, HTC Thunderbolt, Droid X, and other devices so I know the basic ins and outs of how to do this and I know how to follow directions ( I learned early on to read them 3 times before really doing "Step 1" ) . I followed these instructions here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942424
They are rather straight forward and simple. Now with the Nook boots up and stalls at the "N" logo screen. Nothing happens at all. I can turn it off, start it up, and nothing happens once it gets to that screen. If at all possible please give ideas and suggestions to solve this problem. It isn't bricked ( I think ) so it should be able to be revived with a little coaxing. Thanks for your time!

Nevermind I got it back to factory settings.

You are in Download mode somehow, disconnect any cords and and hold the power button down until the Vibrant screen comes one let go and it should reboot.
If not, try pulling your battery then starting it up as normal and it should reboot.
Unless you jacked something up prior... No Odin or flashin mods? How did you try "resetting"?
This (you situation) can happen because the buttons for power and volume are directly opposed from each other, its real easy to squeeze both which can put you in download mode.
Good luck! Report back if you're back to normal, I mean the phone.
Didn't work. I tried resetting by removing the battery then placing it again. I also tried the one where you hold the volume button down and press the power button and nothing. Phone remains in download mode. Earlier today I did manage to get to the Vibrant screen but the phone seemed to have turnedd off (it had low batt). But right after it turned back onto the download screen and stood there for a while so I think the battery wasnt that low. Any other ways to pop this phone back to normal ?
I am messing with the phone as I type this, right now I actually got the Vibrant screen where it says samsung right under it. It seems to stay there for about 15 seconds then the phone reboots to the "Vibrant" screen again. Just thought i'd post it to give you guys a better idea of whats up. Sorry guys I know I sound pretty dumb but im a phone freak that just loves using phones, when it comes to the technical parts though I know nothing as you can see lol. Thanks in advance for the help !
possible boot loop
it sounds like you might be in a boot loop problem. before the problem happened were you flashing any roms? if so maybe the error may have happened there and that is why you cant get it to load up, if this is the case a fast odin flash back to stock should fix the problem for you.
here is a link to where you can find info about odin. Just make sure you read everything if you choose to go this route.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=810130
also make sure you get the newest version of odin which is 1.7 i believe it is much more stable in my experiences.
if you have any problems or need help with anything feel free to ask or pm me and ill help the best i can, plus there are loads of amazing people on the boards here that will be able to help you as well. good luck and keep in mind as long as you can get into download mode (android with shovel) your phone is never truly broken.

[Q] Unsure of possible Bricking

WARNING: This might be redundantly long. But at least it's clear. I believe it to be a matter of wp7 and android. So it'd be inappropriate to paste it in either one of those. Enjoy reading!
I've scrolled around the forums for a possible answer, but I couldn't find any threads with exactly my problem. I'll organize the situation:
Problem: HD2 Won't turn on.
(That's about as helpful as saying 'I put gas in my car, put a key in it, and it won't turn on. Help?' right?)
What happened: I was following the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11097380 (Not slandering them, just using it as a reference to help the trouble shooting of what's going on.) And I followed it as it went. I tried flashing the radio leo rom 2.15.50.14. And it completed. But then my phone turned off, and hasn't come back on yet. It makes the "ba-dum" noise when I plug it into my PC though. Although, there is no faint vibration like I've read with other's problems.
Background info: I've stumbled through about 3 or 4 flashings of wp7 roms and such. As I've broken them all. This one managed to survive since July. And I wanted to try an android os, it's been a while since I've touched any android phones. Anyways, I had wp7 and all the appropriate downloadings/flashings onto it. I thought maybe I should start over, and just follow the guide's steps. Although! There's the problem that I can't use .xaps to my phone. I can sync with my zune library, but I can't xap anything to it. Essentially I'm saying it works, but it doesn't.
And finally, the reason why I did this: The screen progressively became unresponsive. It started as what seemed as if I had oil on my fingers, and it fixed itself within a few seconds. As the days went on, it became minutes, then it finally stopped working. I'd go on to take out the battery, then have to restart it. Also, like a past hd2 of mine, it's moved onto restarting itself at random times. Sometimes one boot up after the next, or just randomly. It was perfectly fine. Perfect.
P.S. Sorry for the length, I wanted to be completely clear to prevent questions like, "Need more info. What's exactly wrong?".
Thanks for anyone helping me! I really do appreciate it. I don't want to have to get ANOTHER one.
P.S.S I'm really terrified of it being bricked. Although, it didn't work at the moment anyways. But I was hoping to attempt to fix it. OH, and I called t-mobile about the screen being unresponsive. (Don't worry, they don't know what I've flashed to it ) They told me to hard reset it with vol up/down + red button. I tried that. The screen worked again. For a short while. And every now, and a thousand random reboots, the screen will proceed to work. But it doesn't show a history of texts during the duration it works. And it usually freezes, then boots down. Boots up, and stops working.
sorry to be the bearer but it sounds as though you're yet another victim of the digitizer hardware issue. its one of those things that simply cant be helped and seemingly comes out of nowhere!
you might, however, go back to basics. start by flashing a stock winmo 6.x rom. if that cures your screen troubles you will have a fresh base to start over (and more carefully) ... if it doesnt fix screen troubles and it stays unresponsive you will have it already ready to be shipped off to be replaced ( this way tmo or wherever you're sending it to wont be able to say YOU caused the screen issue)
in any case i wish you luck!

[Q] Samsung Note 2 stuck on strange screen. Pls Help.

Helo Forum,
You must have noticed I'm a new member. This forum came highly recommended by every site and every other forum I had visited in search of a solution to my uniquely strange problem. It amazing what wonderful job you guys are doing solving people's problems for free.
Phone status: Samsung Galaxy Note 2, upgraded to android 4.3, rooted but not yet flashed a custom rom, hard reset a couple of weeks ago.
Without warning, my note 2 started acting up. I picked it up after an hour of receiving a call only to notice that it was stuck on the samsung logo screen. Prior to that, I can confirm that I did not tamper with it in any way. I turned it off and on again, this time around, all I could see is a screen filled with strange tiny ash colored horizontal lines from top to bottom. It simply got stuck on this unresponsive screen and refused to boot any further. I turned it off and on several times and even pulled the battery several times but there was no change. When I connect it to a pc, it appears as "local disc Q" and when i try to open it, I get the error message "Access denied". I also tried a hard reset using the volume up + home + power on several times, not a single change was noticed. I've attached a picture of the strange phone screen.
If anyone has encountered a similar problem or if anyone has an idea of how this can be fixed, and kind enough to take me through the step by step process of fixing it, I will be super grateful!
Pls let me mention here that my IT skills are not very advanced, so please use simple terms. Let me also apologise if it turns out that a similar thread has been posted on this forum, I searched but couldnt find any with my kind of problem before I decided to post.
Here's my email: [email protected]
Thanks in advance.
It seems to be a hardware problem rather than a software one
Try taking it to the service centre and get your motherboard fixed

Can you boot in download mod? Its showing any image? Or only this? I mean if you can see samsung logo or bootanimation maybe the problem its software...
If you can enter download mode and you can see any image...in your place I will flash a new rom using ODIN.
Saludos! And please let us know how its goes.
Thanks guys for your prompt response.
@Cocolopes, I cant see anything but the unresponsive weird looking screen. Every effort to clear it up has failed so far. The phone has refused to respond to any command including volume up + home + power. Not even a sound. Like I said in my earlier post, it started with the appearance of the samsung logo which refused to go away, so I pulled the battery and then this weird screen appeared.
@jay5204.abd, yeah I also suspect it could be a hardware problem but I always choose to make the service center option a last resort. I prefer to share with wizards in the forums first, just in case someone had experienced a similar problem and solved it.

[Q] Phone refuses to boot - sometimes.

I've run into a problem with my S4. I'm rooted, and running Hyperdrive 15.
My phone refuses to boot quite often. Sometimes it will boot up perfectly fine and run for a day - day and a half, or it'll lockup and then refuse to boot up again, OR it will just not boot at all. My power button seems to be unresponsive, and the only way that I can get some action out of the phone is by reseating the battery in the well.
What I think it is, could be 1 of a few things, or a combination of them - i'm not sure.
Scenario 1: While playing with the Hyperdrive tweaks, my phone was hung after running the Zipalign tool for over 20 minutes and I had to pull the battery.
Scenario 2: I'm deployed on a ship currently, and I have my phone in a high-salt enviornment and I'm afraid that there might be salt corrosion inside of the power switch or the USB connection - shorting it out. I took my phone apart tonight and cleaned both items with isopropyl alcohol ( the switch itself on the main board ) but that didn't seem to produce any new results.
Scenario 3: I was recently rooting a Kindle Fire HD 7" for a friend out here, and I was dumb and didn't realize that I was pushing boot loader files that were designed for the Kindle Fire and not for my Galaxy S4. I have since tried to enter recovery, but with little avail. Download mode is also out.
A description of what my phone does when I reseat the battery: My phone will vibrate, the Galaxy S4 logo will show for 1.5 to 2 seconds ( same for download mode ) and if I hold the appropriate button, ' Recovery Booting.... ' will display as well. At that point, my phone will shutoff and the power button will become unresponsive.
If anyone can give me a bit of guidance on how to proceed to repairing my phone, I'd be super grateful.

This sounds like the most plausible reason.
You will need something like JTAG to really fix it.
Lennyz1988, thanks for the quick reply. Internet out here is slow at best, and sometimes unusable.
As far as your JTAG option, I believe that would work, except that I dont have access to that kind of hardware right now. Sending my phone out at this point entails a month of transit time on each side of the turnaround time required for someone to re-flash my phone, and I wholly believe that I can do this.
As an update to my phone, it will not charge the battery anymore. I'll use someone elses phone to charge my battery soon. If anyone can give me a direction to go as far as how to completely reflash my phone IF it turns on, i'd be grateful beyond belief. I dont want to believe that if I can get it to start up again, that it is a total brick and completely useless - if it turns on again, i need someway to push new boot loader files to it. Really hoping someone can help.
Thanks again in advance.

[Q] Fixed broken button and still can't figure out the new issue!

Alright, long story short. My kids broke the power button on the a500 and as a well known issue i fixed it and sodered it back on. When I tried to reboot it gave me the dreaded stuck ACER logo . I had this issue once before and fixed it using an old upate.zip file I had. This time I read the new thread on the 4 files to try but soon as it stuck I got booted into a black screen which I'm guessing is the apx? (powerbutton light up but no vibration)
I've been reading and reading but I cant seem to find the exact thread on how this issue is fixed. Could one of you guys direct me. Seems to be so many different programs like unbuntu ect but its seems all confusing to me.
any help would be appreciated. Is unbuntu route the only way to start this off on retrieving my cpuid or is there an alternate way to get my tab back up
