Hello everyone...
I have 2 issues with my Transformer
the first one is that whenever i leave my Transformer for couple hours it shuts down !! doesn't occur when charging but it does when it's not.. even when the battery is around 80% !! i had this problem with ALL kernels except the stock kernel which i don't wanna use !! also had this problem for around 2 months...
the second one happened today when i left my Transformer "Charged" at 100%.. and after couple of hours i found it shut down but when i powered it on again i found the battery 27% !!
i went to the battery stats and found that battery was decreasing slowly and there was a gap (which means that it turned off) and after the gap it shows the battery low !! it happened within 6 hours !!
Please help me if you can... !! I'm using Revolver ROM 3.9.5 and "Blades Kernel 3" that comes in the Revolver Parts...
UPDATE : The problem occurs with the stock kernel !!
This sounds very familiar to the problem I had with my Galaxy S2 a month ago.
It kept shutting down every few hours, and it was driving me mad. Then one day I uninstalled the app greenpower, and it was fine afterwards. You don't have the greenpower app by any chance? If not, maybe it can be caused by some other app you normally use?
The battery might be hosed. Have you ever let it hit 0 before? A lot of batteries never fully recover after being fully depleted once or twice.

I never heard of this app... Just like i said it doesn't happen with the stock kernel !!
But the reason I'm using other kernels is because i wanna Overclock !!

No i never let it hit 0%... but i don't think that the problem is in the battery
However I'll try it and see what happens !
sounds like a silly question but i have seen it alot. Are you charging through a computer(USB) or wall?
It could be related to setCPU and the according profiles. Just recently I saw that my profiles were messed up after updating ROM and kernel. Might be worth a shot.
Reinstall stock kernel Issue #1 fixed.
Issue 2 sounds like charger shut off and left TF on not charging.
You've pretty much explained to yourself why the thing is shutting down.. It works fine on the stock kernel but not one that is letting you overclock.. Sounds to me like you are either overclocking more than it can handle or undervolting to much or both.
I can almost bet that its not shutting down completely and its just going into a state that the screen is off but the OS is hung up, so its not responding to you turning the screen on.. This would explain why the battery seems to be dieing when its sitting idle.
Not sure about it dieing while its plugged in other than maybe a fluke.
I don't wanna use the stock kernel.. it's really slow !!
and i over clock to 1.4 ghz only since i can't overclock more than that because it restarts itself endlessly if i overclocked more than 1.4 ghz !! i undervolted about -25 or -50.. not much !!
Yes i charge it on a wall or anything but NOT on my computer...
How can i change profiles in setcpu ??

No no you misunderstood! DONT let the battery hit 0.
First, you need to use more exclamation points !!!!
sounds like you are suffering from deep sleep issues. What rom are you running? also, have you tried running a custom kernel and not overclock it? You have several variables that can be influencing your issues, start isolating what may be causing your problems. the kernel seems the must likely of culprits, I would clear the overclock and install setcpu and run it for a but and see if you can replicate your issue.

Just try the non stock kernel, oc it but dont uv it, not all devices can handle uv, even if it is only a little bit. Even take it back too 1000mhz and try to increase the uv and oc by little bits at a time to see exactly what your transformer can handle. I think its the uv thats causing the problems. Experiment a bit and youll find the sweet spot.
I'm using Revolver ROM and i mentioned that...
I've never undervolted till yestersay.. maybe it caused the second problem
I set the clock speed at 1ghz and i'm waiting to see if anything changes..
Yeah... the problem still occurs even after setting the clock speed at 1ghz and default voltage !! using clemsyn kernel ver 22...
Every device is different. Differences in manufacturing etc. You might have a picky device. Plus these are mobile platforms. No fans, just convection cooling. They are not meant to be tweaked and oc'ed they way we do. The stock kernel is very fast. What is it that you cannot do on the stock kernel that the extreme oc let's you do?

I'm guessing my device is bad and it's Asus' problem ! i tried setting the clock speed at normal 1Ghz but the problem still occurs !! the reason i overclock is that because with the stock kernel i get slower web browsing and slower flash playback and slower overall performance!! however I'm back on the stock kernel to check out if the problem is gone or not...
I doubted my device couple months ago... because I've seen everyone overclock their devices at 1.6 GHz Without any issues !! but when i try to overclock a little bit more than 1.4 GHz it restarts itself endlessly !!
Had the same issue a few months ago. Be prepared to wake up to a dead TF.
I sent it back to ASUS and they replaced main board and battery. Under warranty of course. I suggest you unroot and use a stock rom for now.

You stated in an earlier post that the problem does not show up in the stock ASUS setup, but only with a custom ROM and Kernel. How does that make it ASUS' problem. If you buy a car that says it runs on 87 octane fuel and you put 100% nitro methane in the tank and it blows up it is not the manufacturers fault.
Hey guys got an issue i've seen several people have but nothing i've read fixes mine. So here it is. My battery meter is stuck at 41% no matter what i do. When i plug in the cable it looks and acts like its charging and it even goes green when its fully charged. Then i can use it till it powers off and it never stops reading 41%. I tried calibrating apps. I tried other battery widgits. I tried reloading roms and clearing battery stats in clock work recovery and letting it run down to nothing. Before anyone asks, yes i used the stock cable in fact i used 3 different cables. I am running 1.4.1 rooted with mn and no oc. i had this problem a 1.2 before i updated to 1.4.1 hoping it woukd fix it but no dice. i even loaded battery monitor widgit and it registers plugged in and unplugged but non of the stats come up or refresh. Any help would be greatly appreciated
It may be a hardware problem. How long does the battery last? Is 41% the max or is that the only value it ever shows?
i get normal battery life length and everything else acts normal which is what drives me nuts! but its always at 41%. plugged in 41%. freshly charged 41%. 2 seconds away from turning off 41%!!!!!!! 41 has now become the number i hate the most!

Just questions to try to understand a bit more. If you go into Spare Parts app and check battery information what does the battery level and scale say, and does the battery voltage change as you let it discharge.
Also when you say different ROMS, have you tried say running CM7 of an SD to see what this shows?
in spare parts the readings never change. i have tried cm7 same thing!
Wow, I have the EXACT same problem!! Well at least yours say 41, I'm stuck on 29%. I've tried the same things you have, but I'm still 29, . I check the threads on occasion hoping for a solution but nothing. It still functions fine, I just never know when it's going to cut off on me, because I never truly know how much battery life is left. I just try to charge often till the lite is green, then I know I have time.

Go to CWM recovery and wipe battery stats. Some people say it helps, others it does nothing. But it won't hurt anything to try. Also only use the stock charger and stock cable to charge.

Mine has just gotten stuck at 34%, otherwise the same set of symptoms. Has anybody come up with a solution other than unplugging the battery?
I've installed several different CM10 ROMs, told Battery Monitor Widget to forget its history, but it, Settings/Battery, and a couple of other apps and widgets are all flatlined. I even deleted /data/system/batterystats.bin to no avail.

Yep, I did it with Root Explorer, but (especially if you're a Linux command-line sort) in Terminal Emulator, just type su, then cd /rom, and rm is all you need.

I have the problem with the touch screen when the phone is charging on the same cord extension with another phone (not with all phones and chargers). There are several options when a problem occurs. For example, when you charge the S2 and not the other phone it works perfectly, then when you plug in another phone it work's part of time and touch again becomes unresponsive, then stop charging the other phone and it works again. It helps to put the phone in standby and then wake up again to get all worked again. Also if you have a bed power supply on a computer and put the phone on USB there will be a similar problem. To resolve this you just need to charge your phone alone on the ext cord or socket . I think the problem is in voltage interference filtering. Sry for bad Eng
Here is a YT video.

Solution is to charge phone separately . Its hardware problem, phone cant rectifie input voltage.
Same happened to my Huawei U8800.It has to do with how much mA we draw from the charger.I will try to lower the mA through voltage control and report tomorrow.

I have a voltage filter and with that it works perfectly. Voltage filter specs are:

1A 250V 25/085/21 HPF

Voltage control is a nice backup solution as it lets you regulate input voltage as mentionned above. I tried to reproduce the issue without Voltage Control setting and there is indeed a voltage issue when having two devices on one charger. If I set Voltage control for charger to 500mA, problem dissapears. Only issue is that it charges slower, but not by much.

I would like to bump this post, as it's relevant to my phone atm. I installed the Omega 6 rom the other day (Android 4.0.3) and I only had this problem when I was charging, now I have the problem regardless.
I'm using an Elago stylus pen when I play "Draw Something", and with it, I can draw pretty much as if I was drawing with a regular pen. Sadly after installing 4.0.3 this is no longer POSSIBRUU!
I try drawing a small circle, and the circle will never "close" - if that makes sence... They will always look like an ugly "C"... Annoying the crap out of me, cause I'm quite a nitpicker - and I'll go back to 2.3.6 (Omega 10.4) if I don't find a solution to this issue soon.
I also tried "TouchScreenTune" to increase sensitivity - but to no avail.
Thanks for your time.

Yes some chargers do not have this problem.I experienced the same problem with my old (and stolen) Huawei IDEOS X5.It has something to do with overcurrent while charging, this is my conclusion, because when i charge with a usb i don't have this problem.Same chargers are charging fine an HTC Desire.

Sorry, I'm slow...
And to be clear; I would like my phone to be most responsive when I'm NOT charging it... That's a given I suppose =)
I think it can be lessened with some software tweaks.
Coming from a i9100G, in stock ROM and kernel typing is horrible when plugged and charging. After flashing a custom ROM, the problem was much less.
Problem solved. I CWM-restored back to my old 2.3.6 (Omega 10.4).

I'm using an Elago Stylus - and when your screen is responsive (as it should be) - it's an amazing pen, very precise and it's almost like drawing with a real pen. (appart from the fact that the tip is made of rubber and is soft).
If you have an issue with the screen -- like this thread is all about -- don't even bother getting a stylus. You'd be too annoyed.
This is the pen I use.

Can u tell ur nook color how long keeps the charge when i am watching the vedio every 3 minuts one parcent came down i mean if i watch vedio when all other comunication is off like wifi bluthuth and other comunication so if i continue watching vedio it will keep its charge 300 mints so what u friends think ? I think my battry have problem becuse i bought the nook color from my friend.
If my battry have problem i think i cant find it in afghanistan thanx friends
1. use the wall charger, it charges real fast. charging from a laptop with the included cable is not a good idea.
2. There are a lot of things you can do to improve battery life, most of which will require rooting and flashing a different ROM besides stock, just so you can get to the settings that make a difference. 5 hours of battery life on a stock NC playing videos is probably about right. I get 10+ hours of video out of mine with extensive tinkering. Far and away the biggest factor is the screen brightness, and beyond that, how bright, on average, is the video. I watch movies with brightness about 9-11%.
thanx mr 72 for replay

So what should i do to do beetter for battry life i am watching vedio in 0% brightness plz help i want to see vedio a bout 10 hours if poossibl thanx
Battery life will be affected by any radios, screen brightness, and CPU clock speed. The nook is not meant be charged over USB, but as you can see, it is possible. If you're looking to get a ten hours battery life, and you've purchased and rooted the wrong tablet. Id say nook color can get anywhere from 5-7 hours based on the above factors.
Mine takes 4 hours but my nook needs to be off to charge. If it is left on even with the screen off and saying charging, the battery is actually going down. Kinda stupid but whatever this thing is cheap greatness lol

NC can certainly get 10+ hours of battery life under normal use, and up to 17+ hours in my experience if you are using apps that require no wifi, low CPU and can tolerate low brightness settings.

That's "on" time.
17+ hours of actively reading ebooks (Moon+ reader in my case, black text on off-white background, no wifi enabled [was on a plane], brightness around 10-15%)
10+ hours of actively watching movies (MX Video Player, movie format varies from 720P to 480P DVDrip h264 and xvids, also no wifi, on a plane)
I say "+" because I quit using the NC and there was remaining battery, so I don't know how long it would have run if I let it run to zero. Check out my guide (in my sig) to see how I set mine up. There are no settings that compromise performance or utility.
I find charge time can vary pretty greatly. Last night i didn't get a full charge with the same settings that I had the night before.. aside from updating to a new nightly. Generally I can charge the device in less than 5 hours if the wifi is off and nothing is running.
I'm going to piggyback this forum as I have been searching over 40 min and this looks closest. Sorry ahead of time.
I also found it takes forever to chafe my nook. I have a droid raze and ourchase local for it so I'm using in my nook to shutbdown the wifi from 1am to 6.am. hmm I may change that to. 12:69 am. It will help with my issue but I still have the the following request.
Wifi seems to be eating up battery life. Does anyone know of a program that will auto off wifi if not used for say at min?
Also for other readers: I found a simple free program called connections (for the bionic connectivity issues) I use it on the nook when there seems to be an issue. I have a shortcut in app launcher so its avail in any program.
Any feedback welcome.

No, but if you leave the defaults, then wifi should be off while sleeping.
Or you can use the status bar pull-down in CM7 to turn it off when you are not using it.
However, I find that it doesn't make a huge difference.

I am using Juice Defender Ultimate on my NC running rooted B&N 1.4.1 for exactly this purpose, and it is working well. I also tried Green Power, but had problems with it.
JD is definitely overkill, since it's meant for device with more radios. You could also use Tasker and set it up to turn off wifi when the screen goes off.

Hey Guys,
I apologize if this is the 2009th time this has been asked my search didnt show what I needed so I thought someone may be able to help.
Nook Color Running CynMod 2.2., everything has been running great for about 6 months, and now my battery has started lasting less and less, so I turned off my bluetooth
but when I look at "Battery Stats" the 2nd biggest user is CELL SERVICE
Can this be turned off and if so what the best way to do so?
I love the mod (I have ICS on my other NC) and its VERY quick, I just need more than 10 hours battery life in sleep.
thanks
J
If I recall correctly... that's just the way CM calculates the battery stats. The NOOK doesn't have a cell radio, so it's never going to use any battery, because it physically can't.
My experience with my feature phone have shown it to gobble up battery with the bluetooth feature on, so I tend to use it sparingly with the NOOK.
You're best bet for getting better battery life is to upgrade your ROM to something more recent - like the MiRaGe KANG build - the more recent kernel's make better use of CPU time and battery efficiency.
NCK
Thanks for the advice
do you think that the ICS release would be more efficient?
