[splash screens] htc wildfire -- all about using splash screens. - Wildfire General

Hi everyone..
I just wanted to tell how to create and use custom splash screens on the wildfire. The process im telling is already present in the desire forum. Im just applying little changes to make it work on the wildfire...
The splash screen is the first image u see just after switching on the wildfire. Not to be confused with the "boot animation" which occurs after the splash screen. This thread is only related to the splash screens.
WHAT ARE THE THINGS NEEDED FOR THIS :
1. A wildfire with S-OFF . The version of the hboot doesn't matter. And also rooted phone or unrooted phone doesn't matter. Just s-off needed.
2. A bitmap image (.bmp) with 320 x 240 resolution. U can edit this image as u like using any programs. But its resolution should be 320 x 240 and also its color depth should be 24 bit. This is the image that you are about to see as the splash screen.
3. NBIMG command line program. This is a tool useful for the interconversion of (.bmp) files and (.nb) files. Download the tool according to ur platform from the link here:
[release] nbimg: HTC splash screen tool . What im telling is related to windows platform here. But u can apply it to linux also.
4. android-win-tools.zip ( link ) + HTCDriver_2.0.7.17.exe ( link ) ( needed only if u want to use the fastboot flashing method).
*** please use the browser to see the commands here (which are in bold).
CREATING THE SPLASH FILE :
---Make sure that u r able to view the file extensions of known file types in ur pc (folder options).
---Download the NBIMG and extract it to a shorter and known path on ur computer. Keep the necessary bitmap image file in this path (to make it easy). Rename the image to "splash1.bmp"
---Then open command prompt and CD to the folder where NBIMG exists.
---Then type the command nbimg -F splash1.bmp -w 240 -h 320 and press enter. This creates "splash1.bmp.nb" file in that directory. Now rename this file to "splash1.img". [Although u can also use the (.nb) file which means renaming to "splash1.nb"] That's all about creating the splash file.
---The above command is actually for the interconversion of (.nb) and (.bmp) files. Suppose if u have the file "splash1.nb", then u can have a bitmap image of that by entering the command nbimg -F splash1.nb -w 240 -h 320 (which creates "splash1.nb.bmp"). Here, provided sometimes u should know the resolution of "nb" file.
FLASHING THE SPLASH FILE :
Once the "splash1.img" is created, u can flash it in 2 ways. One is PC49IMG PROCESS. And the other is FASTBOOT FLASH PROCESS. If you have any issues related to one process, then try the other process.
---PC49IMG PROCESS : For anything to be flashed from pc49img process, there should be "android-info.txt" file from official update. U can find it even in below attached zip files. So, u need to pack both the "splash1.img" and "android-info.txt" into a zip file. Then rename this zip file into "PC49IMG.ZIP" (with file extensions shown) . Here all these file names should be like this and shouldn't be changed. And regarding "splash1.img" in this process, its file name should be "splash1" and its file extension can be "nb" or "nb0" or "img". Seems like im confusing u, but pls don't get confused. Just use the file name as "splash1.img" . Then put this PC49IMG.ZIP file to the root of sdcard (fat32) and reboot into hboot menu from where u can install that. And after successfully having the splash screen, donot forget to remove the pc49img file from memory card (just because it irritates u whenever u enter the hboot menu).
---FASTBOOT FLASH PROCESS : Im just making this noob friendly. If you have the knowledge of adb, then you can do it in your own style . Download android-win-tools.zip and extract its contents to the root of C drive of your PC. Then download HTCDriver_2.0.7.17.exe and install it in your windows PC. Now open command prompt and type the command C: and press enter. This takes you to the root of C drive in command prompt. Also put your splash1.img in the root of C drive of PC. Then boot the wildfire into "fast boot mode" and connect it to PC with usb cable. Then enter the command prompt command fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img. That's all u have a new splash screen. If success, it says okay, else it shows errors. The last part of the command is file name and it need not be the same as far as fastboot flashing is concerned (I mean "splash1.img" here can be even renamed to anything like say "abc.xyz" to be flashed with the command "fastboot flash splash1 abc.xyz".
[And for those who are using "ADB Environment Variables", i think u know everything. U should keep the "splash1.img" file in the command prompt CD folder and then u can go through it]
****** I have attached the alpharev qvga splash screen along with 4 other samples (all along with pictures). I have also attached the htc wildfire default splash screen. So, for warranty purposes, u can just use that stock one. I have extracted it from the eclair RUU (splash1.nb0). As far as this process is concerned, the file extensions "nb0" , "nb" , "img" can be just interchanged.
And to use the below attached files, U can just rename the zip files to "PC49IMG.ZIP" and flash through hboot menu. Or u can extract the "splash1.img" and flash it through fastboot flash method. And pls correct for any error.
Bmp => nb (conversion with nbimg)
Nb (or) nb0 (or) img -----> PC49IMG process or FASTBOOT FLASH PROCESS.

Hi Bharat
Can you perhaps show the bmp file of the splash image? I know that for most of them it can be found in the zip file itself, but it would make it more accessable
Allow me to post mine as well it is a very simple one, but (for the moment) I like it more than the one from HTC.

Certainly rooting and custom rom won't touch the splash screen. Previously alpharev for desire while doing the s-off process changed the splash screen I think. But alpharevX didn't do that. Maybe final release does. And even though we can have their qvga splash screen.

Which one did u flash. Or have u made ur own.
And r u talking about boot animation.
BTW, if u r on CM7 then what u r saying is boot animation which is different from splash screen. To check the splash screen just switch off the device and then switch on. The 1st image u see is splash screen. It will be just picture and not animated.

The phone must be S-OFF to use custom splash? I've my Wildfire rooted but it is NOT s-off, can't I use them?
Thanks.

I made one myself and I run cm7, before I tried to flash the splash it showed the htc logo and then a custom bootanimation, win95 bios, I installed. Now instaid of showing the htc logo it shows the 3 androids on a skate board.
If you can make a pic149.. zip for me I would really appreciate it. Here is the picture in jpeg.

No u cannot use it AFAIK. Rooting doesn't matter. S-OFF skips the signature check of zip files to be updated, that is how pc49img method works. And also fastboot flash cannot be enabled with s-on.
So, with s-on u can use only the splash images given by htc to wildfire (because those things were signed by htc)

edit:IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!! thank again, however I still don't know what I did wrong
NOw at last my phone is fully mine

Just resized a splashscreen from another thread. HVGA to QVGA. Thanks to TrueBlue_Drew for the original.

hmm...I'm having some problem too. Not sure what the issue is - I have a 32 bit bmp - or well actually 4. I want to be able to switch between screens, but there's something wrong - 1. Do the files have to be 24 Bit, is 32 bit too much?
attaching both the image I use currently and the pc49img I flashed...or not, picture too big ;p
Picture is supposed to look like that but what I get is 4 split cans in black and white...as in error NTSC / PAL video...to describe...

Any idea on how to change first boot splash ?

On the HTC Dream (G1...) it was possible to get rid of the very first boot image, that white screen with a steady HTC logo, with a flashboot command like the following (changing source img name $3 ):
fastboot flash splash1 splash.raw565
.....now...the obvious question....do we need a special SPL to do something like that on Desire?
I saw something in boot.img that could probably help in the process but my Droid skills are too basic to get an answer by myself.
Any idea on this?
Thanks!
According to the Droid Dev Channel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
How to change boot animation
1. You need to have HTC Sync and Android SDK installed
2. Copy bootanimation.zip to SD Card
3. Turn off Desire and then turn it on while holding back button to enter bootloader(white screen)
4. Once in "white screen" press power button again to enter bootloader
5. Connect Desire with PC
6. Press Volume Down and than Power to enter Recovery
7. Open Command prompt/Terminal and type
Code:
adb shell mount /system
adb push C:\bootanimation.zip /data/local
adb reboot

8. Unplug your HTC and enjoy your new boot animation
Alternative method to install a custom boot animation (without Recovery Mode - by MasDroid)
1. You need to have HTC Sync and Android SDK installed (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html).
2. To get adb running on the Windows OS platform, for example, download & extract the Android SDK to the following path: %SystemDrive%\android-sdk-windows (e.g. C:\android-sdk-windows)
3. Turn on your phone and connect it to your PC via a USB port.
4. Place the downloaded bootanimation.zip into the same folder as the adb app (in the tools folder of the SDK).
5. Open command prompt and type cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools, hit enter.
6. Type adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local, hit enter.
7. Reboot phone.

That is how to change "second" boot animation, but he wont's to change "first" bootanimation, the one with white background and green htc logo
Have no idea how to remove it, but would like to know it too
Dang It!
Yep that's it.... but I imagine that the chance of sending some sort of RTFM was so sweet to fog out the actual question (some of... us share the same behavior)
... probably I should have been more clear on my request.
At the moment I'm still searching around for some clues and I will report here all my findings.
.... c'mon... the first ugly splash is displayed way longer than the second... and if that isn't enough.... it's ugly
You need the engineering SPL. Impossible to do otherwise.
So I need the piece of software everybody is waiting for...
HTC must be very proud of their logo if they make it so hard to get rid of it. Even boot messages would look better ;-)
Well, thanks a lot for the info !
S-OFF is now available! Just installed on my Telstra Desire and changed the splash1 screen successfully!

I actually meant changing the 1st boot screen img, and for your information I read these forums every single day.
I gave up following xda for barked answers like that one... go see a shrink and be polite, or don't bother answer.
For the s-off question, it's a quite straight forward operation, I don't have time right now but I' ll make a step by step how to that I hope will help with doubts.
Hi,
Your Desire needs to be S-OFF, Than you need to use fastboot to flash the new bootscreen:
fastboot flash splash1 yourbootscreen.img

I was wondering about the very same thing a while ago. This is what I have learned:
TO BEGIN WITH, YOUR PHONE MUST BE S-OFF. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS THREAD IF YOUR PHONE ISN'T S-OFF.
In order to flash your custom splash1 image, prepare a *.BMP image with size corresponding to your device's display size (which in case of the Desire is 480x800). Make sure the image is in 24-bit color space (true colors), 16 or 32-bit images wont work.
When you have the image prepared, download a tool called NBIMG (you'll find it here on XDA). Put your image and nbimg.exe into the same directory, open up command prompt and then navigate to the folder where you've placed the files. I'll use c:\nbimg as an expamle.
To convert the image to the smartphone format, issue the following commands:
Code:
chdir c:\nbimg
nbimg.exe -F mycustomimage.bmp -w 480 -h 800
This will create mycustomimage.bmp.nb file. If you want to be sure everything went alright, convert this file back to *.bmp format by using this command:
Code:
nbimg.exe -F mycustomimage.bmp.nb -w 480 -h 800
This will create mycustomimage.bmp.nb.bmp. Open this file and compare it to your original image. If the images match (no artifacts, inverted colors, etc.), you are good to go and you can proceed to flash the image to the phone using fastboot.
Take your converted image (mycustomimage.bmp.nb) and replace the .bmp.nb part with .img suffix so the resulting file is named mycustomimage.img. Now take this *.img file and put it to the tools subdirectory inside your Android SDK installation folder (fastboot.exe must be in said subdirectory, as I will use the path as an example).
Connect the phone to your computer and enable usb debugging.
Navigate to folder inside the Android SDK where adb.exe is located (older revisions of the SDK have it inside tools subdir, latest SDK has it inside platform-tools subdir). Reboot your device to bootloader mode through adb by issuing the following commands:
Code:
chdir c:\AndroidSDK\tools
adb.exe start-server
adb.exe reboot bootloader
When the phone reboots into bootloader, issue the following command to flash the image into the phone:
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 mycustomimage.img
Now reboot your phone using this command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Enjoy your new custom splash1 image, you're all done
And if you let me, I'd like to share a few images I have created myself. They're nothing extra, just a quick and noobish work in GIMP, so if you don't like them, please, don't download them and don't troll. I won't react on comments saying "your images are fugly" or anything else alike
Download the *.img files by clicking on corresponding images.

So I noticed you said this isn't your guide, but I see no credits in your post for where the guide originated, or who originally wrote the info? I'm sure this will help a lot of people though.

Where did you get it from, then?
It looks strikingly similar to this guide:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/526575-guide-unrooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-a.html
In fact, the inordinate number of exclamation points and the use of my command prompt screenshot makes me think it originated over there.

Are you running a rooted ROM? You need to have root access for this to work. Try typing "su" at the prompt and see if it changed to a #.
thanks
Can this be done using a Mac?

Hi, I know this is really out of date, but I have to send my phone back because the screen is cracked (inner touch screen) and I wanted the phone to be completely stock. I never rooted the phone. I only unlocked the bootloader. I found this thread hoping I could relock the bootloader to make it look like I never unlocked it in the first place. Of course once I reached Step 7, I don't get the # sign. I get the $ sign and I don't know what to do :/

[Guide]How to downgrade from hboot 1.02.0000 to hboot 1.01.0001!!!

Hey guys, I have worked out a way for everyone who as been upgraded to the htcdev hboot to be able to downgrade for revolutionary s-off
This seems like a lot of hassle but it doesnt really take that long, an hour max if you follow my instructions to the T
But first....
Code:

I love the cyanogenmod disclaimer
anyway, this is what you will need to get the job done.
Requirements
1. This downgrade package.
2. HxD hex editor- from here .
3. A working android phone to help with making the gold card, and/or a known working sd card that is compatible for being a gold card.
4. A ok/great knowledge of adb/fastboot commands/
5. A htcdev unlocked bootloader follow my previous guide here.
6. cwm recovery installed.
7. superuser installed.
8. downloaded package moved to c:\ on your hard drive. so it will look like c:\adb\ #all the stuff ect#
ok, so....
step 1. Connect your buzz up to your pc with usb debugging mode enabled and the device set to charge only.
step 2. open a command prompt and cd to your adb folder using this command
Code:
cd c:\adb\
step 3. enter the following commands one at a time. copy paste is recommended.
Code:
adb shell
su
cat /dev/mtd/mtd0 > /sdcard/misc.img
exit
exit
adb pull /sdcard/misc.img misc.img
step 4. ok this will have pulled your misc.img from the device to your adb folder. so now we need to hex edit it. open HxD or your preferred hex editor and click file/open and travel to your adb folder in c:\adb\ and select misc.img
step 5. this is crucial. we need to edit line 11 to state that our software version is lower that it actually is. i have set this to 1.11.111.1 as a default position. we also need to over-ride the HTCU with just .... so, take a look at the picture

Here i have my original on top and our desired ending on the bottom. In order for us to correctly change only the values we need we must hi-light
only the values we want to change, one at at time. for example
If you look on the left in the hi-lighted area you will see that their is gaps in the red edited area that is still black. that means that point has not been changed. this is what we want. we get this by hi-lighting one number at a time on the right panel thats hi-lighted and replacing it with the vaule we want.
once we have done that we can hi-light the HTCU and replace it also with just
Code:
....
. after this use file/save as and save the file as Nmisc.img. it should ask to save in the directory that your old misc.img was in but just make sure when your saving it that its in c:\adb\ .It must be this or the future commands will not work by copy paste
step 6. now we need to make a gold card. if you already have one, you can skip this part. first using your working android phone, download and install Goldcard helper from the android market. Run the app and copy down your sd cards reverse cid.
step 7. now go to this website here and enter in your reverse cid. it will then let you download a goldcard.img.
step 8. now go back to our c:\adb\ folder and run the goldcardtool.exe, this will flash the goldcard to your sd card. Warning! this will format your card!!
step 9. once that is done we are now ready for the final push
place your Nmisc.img and flash_image onto your sdcard and boot into your stock rooted rom.
step 10. with usb debugging still on and the phone set to charge only, open a command prompt and cd to c:\adb\ again.
step 11. issue the following commands one at a time. you will know they have been successful as the command prompt will return a $ or a # when ready.
Code:
adb shell
su
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image
chmod 755 /data/flash_image
/data/flash_image misc /sdcard/Nmisc.img
exit
exit
adb reboot bootloader
your phone will now reboot into the bootloader and you will see that you are locked oow again. this is normal as this is the HTCU we deleted
step 12. The last stand
issue the following commands
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip 1.01.zip
fastboot flash zip 1.01.zip
fastboot reboot
after the first fastboot flash zip 1.01.zip is issued it will stop, saying the image needs to be flushed again. this is normal and is what we are aiming for just fastboot flash zip 1.01.zip again and we will be good to go!
This process will downgrade you to a WWE rom version of hboot 1.01.0001 and will leave you ready for revolutionary s-off!
follow this guide for revolutionary
video here sorry for the jumpy camera, i couldnt find my camera stand .......

Your goldcard has failed. You need to either select mmc1 in goldcard tool if available (the other patching option) or your sd card is just not compatible with being a gold card and you will need to source a new/different one. Make sure to use official SanDisk sd cards as cheap knock offs tend to fail at being goldcards.
When you make the next gold card don't re-run all the steps. Proceed from fastboot reboot ruu and it should be ok. If you get a software is "older than current" failure next time then repeat the guide from flashing the new edited misc.img good luck

[n80xx] CyanogenMod 10.2 Dual Boot

For anyone interested, below are the steps for getting your device dual-booting with CyanogenMod 10.2.
Why?
I don't want to erase native firmware and want to give a try to CyanogenMod
I want to have both native and CM, because I like native Samsung S-Pen apps, but want to have more fresh Android too
I like experimenting - it's cool!
The Idea
Our Android device has 2 boot partitions - for normal boot, and to boot into recovery. If I want to boot CyanogenMod, I need to place its boot image instead one of those boot partitions. E.g. if I want to have both native firmware and cyanogen - then obviously I need to replace recovery partition. However I can do the backup of recovery and restore it later if needed.
But, I also need to place cyanogen system and data partitions somewhere. Putting it on the external sdcard makes CM working really slow, repartitioning internal memory might be good idea, but it is not so easy and is not necessary for experimenting. Thus I've created 2 image files and put it to native data partition (mmcblk0p12) to media folder, e.g. into internal sdcard, then changed cyanogen boot image to mount those image files on boot as system and data partitions.
Prerequisites:
Rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2012 Edition
2GB of free disk space at internal sdcard
Recovery partition backup, because we are going to replace it with CyanogenMod boot image
Clear understanding of what you are doing, because you potentially can break your device
Downloads:
CM 10.2 boot image
CM 10.2 data partition image
CM 10.2 system partition image
Steps
This manual suggests that you are going to do the recovery backup to external sdcard and has native firmware which means that recovery partition is mmcblk0p6, data partition is mmcblk0p12 and internal sdcard is /mnt/sdcard folder (otherwise you need to change the commands appropriately and might need to fix cyanogen boot image too).
Download 3 files by the links above and upload to internal sdcard of your device. Connect to your device via ADB and run ADB shell, or type the next commands in terminal emulator:
Code:
# become root
su -
# go to external sdcard to create recovery backup
cd /mnt/extSdCard
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=./recovery.img
# go to internal sdcard folder
cd /mnt/sdcard
# unpack partition images - each is 1Gb of disk space
gunzip ./system.img.gz
gunzip ./data.img.gz
# write CM boot image to recovery partition
dd if=./cyanogen.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6
# finish
exit
exit
Now you can reboot your device into recovery mode and see CyanogenMod booting.
Restoring native recovery:
If you got tired from CyanogenMod and/or would like to take back your recovery, please use the backup you've done before. Lets say it is placed on your external sdcard, then connect to your device via ADB and run ADB shell, or type the next commands in terminal emulator:
Code:
# become root
su -
# go to the folder with recovery backup
cd /mnt/extSdCard
# write recovery image over recovery partition
dd if=./recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6
Please let me know If I missed anything in my steps.
P.S. What I've changed in Cyanogen boot.img to make it using img files instead of partitions in form of patch: View attachment cyanogen_boot_img.patch. It is also necessary to create /host folder in initrd folder tree.
wow!!
it's really hard to be done xD
i thought it will be as easy as it was on my old Galaxy S2
all what i needed to do is to restart the phone and press home to boot to second Rom
i hope it's going to be easier soon
and thank you for you efforts toward our device Development

Well, it is not as hard as it probably seems Download 3 files and overwrite recovery partition.
Probably I need to compose something like zip file for CWM or TWRP when I have free time... But if would be really nice if someone get it working too following current steps

I really Appreciate your work here brother And as it seems our device is not getting much of the attention unlike other devices
And what i meant by hard is it's possible to be done without any mistakes , but i take sometime to do so and you need a computer every time you want to change the Rom so it's not a solution for every time use .
I wish you good luck and Thank you for your support

Thanks for kind words Actually you don't need to have the computer to change ROM, you can type commands from terminal emulator directly from Android. I'm also thinking about creating small Android app which can be installed to each ROM and will be able to switch boot partition within one click.
Thanks for this superb work. Can't download last file ?
Please if can make someone flashable zip it would be great I am a noob but I want try this thanks again

It is possible, but your another rom must be specially modified for this.
What rom are you talking about exactly?
Multi-boot solution
I've tired of writing images to boot partition every time I want to switch between native firmware and Cyanogen, so decided to compose a little program that I was talking before. So let me introduce you N8xx Boot Manager!
The idea:
You put your boot images files to some folder on your sdcard, lets say to /mnt/extSdCard/images/boot
And recovery boot images to /mnt/extSdCard/images/recovery
Now you run Boot Manager and select what you want to boot as normal boot or as recovery
As soon as you selected it, the application asks you if you would like to write this image to the appropriate partition (boot or recovery)
After successful writing it will ask you for booting from that partition, e.g. propose to reboot into your another rom or recovery
For sure all the settings like path where to keep images and boot/recovery partition names can be fixed appropriately to your device at the Settings tab
For sure the application requires root permissions, e.g. your device must be rooted. You can also check this from Settings tab
The application file: View attachment bootmanager-1.0.apk - feel free to install it to your device and use posting me bug reports
P.S. The only thing I've forgotten - the button to create native boot image file backup You still need to do it manually, sorry Hopefully in next release, if there be people interested in N8xx Boot Manager
P.P.S. Generally this program can be used for any device - just put correct images and correct boot partition names
P.P.P.S. Why N8xx and not N8xxx or N80xx? Because I've missed one symbol when typed application name in Android Studio and was too lazy to change that later
N80xx Boot Manager
Updated version of N80xx Boot Manager: View attachment bootmanager-1.1.apk
Changelog:
Fixed application name
Fixed images path detection when no settings were changes
Added "Backup boot partiton" and "Backup recovery partition" buttons
Thus, now to install CM 10.2 as dual boot you don't need to go to ADB or terminal - just upload 3 img files to your device proper locations, installl boot manager apk, create stock boot/recovery partitions backup, then select what you want to boot and boot to that rom!
P.S. Going to update first post of this thread with steps based on Boot Manager, just would be nice if someone confirm that it works.

I'm using the same Revolution HD 9.0 by mike1986 and it works for me. The backup might fail if backup folder is not available. By default it is trying to use external sdcard for backups, it is looking for /mnt/extSdCard/images/boot and /mnt/extSdCard/images/recovery paths for the purpose. Please create those folders if you don't have it, or change boot manager settings according to your thought where the backups should be. The boot and recovery folders should exist anyway, e.g. it is up to you to create them.

STEPS to create splash.img:
(For devices with latest firmware, use this tool: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75231024&postcount=48)
1. Download & Extract this: Redmi_Note_4_Splash_Maker.zip
2. Make sure you have a picture with resolution 1080x1920 or lower.
Note:
Redmi Note 4 logo has a fixed size of 100kB allocated for splash image frame buffer, so only very light-weight pictures can be used.
(If you alter this limit in the script, fastboot picture will not appear in fastboot mode..)
It's recommended to use picture with 3 or 2 colors only, like Black & White pictures.
So you'll have to try many pictures till you get a successful one.
3. Now rename your picture as logo.png or logo.jpg according to its format & replace it inside "pics" folder of the extracted folder.
4. Finally, run the 'CREATE_LOGO.bat' to create splash.img , which you can find inside the "output" folder after completion.
Note:
You'll get an error like "PICTURE IS LARGE IN SIZE" if it's not possible to create a logo with that picture.
In that case, try any one of these below:
a. Try compressPNG.com to reduce no. of colors in PNG picture.
Upload your picture, click Settings, reduce number of colors to 2, Apply & download it & try again.
b. Reduce the picture resolution.
For example, this picture:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
can edited to something like this:
(Hope you understand what I say)
c. Try some other picture.
STEPS to flash splash.img:
Optional: To backup your original splash.img:
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/splash of=/sdcard/splash.img
(Not necessary though.. You may get it from the stock firmware itself.)
Now, Choose any one easy method to install:
a. To flash from recovery:
Transfer the flashable_splash.zip to your device and flash from TWRP or CWM or Philz or any other custom recovery.
b. To flash from Terminal Emulator:
Transfer the splash.img to your device's Internal Storage, Open Terminal Emulator & enter the following to flash it:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/splash.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/splash
c. To flash from Fastboot mode:
Code:
fastboot flash splash splash.img
Note:
Incase something goes wrong or device doesn't bootup, flash the stock splash.img from custom recovery or fastboot.

Hit the Thanks :good: button if it worked for you
You're welcome to post the splash images that you created..
FOR MEDIATEK VARIANTS:
For MTK devices, you might have a different partition for that called 'logo'.
Browse in /dev directory to find out where that is present.
After you have found out, dump the logo.bin file by:
Code:
dd if=/<the_directory_where_logo_is_present>/logo of=/sdcard/logo.bin
Now you can edit the logo.bin using this tool:
Changing Boot Logo (logo.bin) - LOGO BUILDER Program
After editing, you can reflash it by:
Code:
dd if=/sdcard/logo.bin of=/<the_directory_where_logo_is_present>/logo
If you did this successfully, please share the details of how you did it so that it will be helpful for others..
Or if that tool doesn't work, send me your logo.bin or splash.img, I'll check it..
Thanks @GokuINC for the tool.?
Haha - just like the Moto G - pretty neat. ?
Thank you so much for this tool! I can't seem to flash a particular logo. It automatically flashes a black and white Google logo instead. I've attached the image here. Please look into it.

Problem Solved
to reduce the picture size you may use half pixel eg (1080*1920)/2,3 etc

It's funny because the only images that worked are the ones you posted here as .zip files. I tried numerous 1080x1920 jpgs, tried compressing and resizing them to 720x1280 etc. etc, even tried compressing a .png file all were black and white and sized lower than 100kb and nothing worked, it phone always used a stock Google logo.

Thanks, it worked. But it's not stretched for a full screen. Is it compressed to a very small size?
