[Q] Dalingren 6/13/11 wifi module trouble - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm a jackass.

You got the wrong kernel. CM7 is not froyo.

Roger that. Don't know how, but I managed to grab a much older CM7 one than current. New one is just fine.

After stock ...

Hey I was wondering I have been looking at all the roms out there for the EVO and most of the roms have things broken in it. And so I wanted to know if anyone had a suggestion of what Rom I should flash over stock that will give me the most benefit cause I use all the features of the phone , including 4G I just need something complete. Also if that's not possible yet I would like to know what kernel will work best for stock.thanks
You can try fresh Rom it has everything working. I just use rooted stock ROM with kings #11 cfs kernel.
sweet man thanks for the reply how is that kernel?
So far its ok. There are people who sat its not that great and that another version of kings kernel is better... I can't remember the version that was being recommended...
Hey check out MYN RLS2 its sweet! Perfect for anyone wanting to keep sense.

[Q] What ROM should i use after install of Manual Nooter? (CM7?)

Im about to install Manual Nooter on my SD card and begin to hack. Assuming everything goes correctly with that.....what ROM should i put on it after?
I hear CM7..now CM7.02 i think is the newest, is supposedly the best and fastest.
I know theres the froyo one as well.
Anyone have any ideas especially if your running one you like, let me know please. Thanks!!

My vote would be for CM7 and the OC kernel. I played around with a bunch of the options and have settled on this as my base.
But it's so easy to try different things I would have to suggest that you try anything that catches your fancy, once you have a good backup of the current base configuration.

I get the CM7 builds here:
http://mirror.cyanogenmod.com/?device=encore&type=nightly
(both the stable and nightly builds can be found at that link)
and the OC kernels here:

The nightly experimental builds are just that, experimental. They may blow up, or not work properly with certain apps, or conflict with the OC kernel. The stable builds are the "officially supported" builds.
What I currently have is a stable 7.02 configuration running with the 4-24 OC kernel and a bunch of installed apps that all work right in this setup. I back it up to my SD card using the"Backup Current ROM" option in ROM Manager (I bought the premium version).
If I update to a nightly I can always go back to that backup if I screw something up. I've only screwed it up that badly once so far

I have everything set up and working correctly (yayayayay!).....but im haveing trouble loading a kernel. Apparently i need an updated CWM on my sd card since i have 3.0.0.5, which is super outdated i think. The 4/24 kernel dowloads and install correctly, but it doesnt affect anything and i can still only OC to 925 through CM7 settings. Soooo im trying to look for the newest CWM so i can dowload and put it on my SD card

You should be able to flash the current version of CWM from the ROM Manager application.

The new Bravo mod

I saw Bravo XC2 or whatever is released.
What exactly does this allow us Bravo users to do, if rooted? Can we flash Cyanogen or anything like that? Or Gingerbread? Or is this just the start of the ROM journey?

BravoX is deodexed so it lets you flash any themes made like heydabop's or jrgov's dx theme.
it also has all the bloatware removed which gets rid of all the att junk and vlingo and voice commander (google voice search is the best by far)
the 2nd part of your question seems more geared towards my custom recovery app. using it, someone could port gingerbread or cyangenmod, yes, but no one has yet so the immediate answer is no, you wont be able to flash cm7 at the moment. I may look into the defy port but I dont know yet.
If i missed anything feel free to chime in everyone.
So does that mean we will only be able to put the CM7 only after people have developed a motorola bravo version?
We don't know how Defy CM7 acts on a Bravo yet, but knowing that could be a launching point for a CM7 Bravo port. I don't think anyone is actively working on a Bravo CM7, but I don't spend much time on the CM boards...
I know that BandroidX has made a great ROM but does anyone know if someone tried to port CM7 to the Bravo yet?

[Q] Root, Clockworkmod & OC Kernel for UK Xoom

Hi all,
Planning on getting a Xoom, but trying to do my usual research isn't going particularly well. I've been searching through all the threads looking for the usual mods, but am completely confused with what works for the UK / Euro Xooms?
I have found a guide on rooting the UK version, but do the OC kernels work? Are they the same as the US versions?
Sorry if this has been covered a million times, i'm just not finding a great deal of info other than "I bricked my Xoom by flashing X,Y or Z!
Thanks In Advance,
Dex
yes. tiamat kernel 1.4.x, clockwork 3.0.2.8 are compatible with euro xoom. learn more HERE.
So the kernel has nothing to do with the 3g side of things?
Sorry for being numb, dealt with quite a few android devices, but there seems to be a lot of Xoom paperweights being made and don't want to make the same mistake.
Many thanks!
kernel should be seperate from the os. however, if not developed properly could affect 3g.
hey, good question. ask everything you need before you move forward on something your not sure of.

Will do mate, Many thanks!
Hi , did you manage to flash using the tiamat kernel, I have a uk xoom 3g, I would like to use tiamat as I want to overclock . So confused how to do this. Tried flashing a ocboot.img from an overclock guide and my xoom got stuck at the dual core screen, I have recovered from this by flashing a euro boot
I'm not sure where the guys are at these days cause IV been away a while but Tiamat has been having problems maintaining 3G connections.
As for mods, there is little that will work for us at the moment because we are stuck 3.0. Once we get 3.1 we'll start to see more.

You can install Tiamat to do it but its been a bit sketchy with 3G. I have tried to get a stock kernel compiled so I can start modifying it for those of us outside the US but I don't have the kernel skills and never got it to boot.

ah right ok, does 3g not work at all then? Could you point me in the right direction on how to install tiamat if its not too much trouble please.
Does it have to be done with an sd card & does that recovery thing have to be flashed?
Sorry , searched for so long on this and no one seems to reply.
Thanks much appreciated

It works, but usually drops and wont reconnect until after a reboot. If you look in the dev section the old tiamat kernel thread will explain. I'm on phone so can't get thread links etc.

The thread for installing tiamat is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978013 and yes, install is through cwm. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979 will show you how to install cwm.
fwiw, I've got a 3g euro xoom running the 3.1 us build with the euro telephony files pushed and tiamat 1.44 and I've no issues with 3g, other than the signal strength is incorrectly reported. Hth
Thanks for reply mate, I have since installed tiamat 1.4.1 on my xoom version 3.0.1. so far running ok and oc to 1.5ghz. Is there any clear advantage updating to 3.1 and using tiamac 1.4.4
thank for reply
What are you guys using to see clock speed, think I've managed to get mine updated, ran thru the euro 3.1 thread yesterday and all was well, today flashed the Tron#4 kernel.
I cant check my 3g works as I dont have the apn for giffgaff atm although I am searching as I type this and my SDcard doesnt work (have an external folder but its empty and I cant write to it.)

Host mode is quite useful and it's definitely a lot more stable since updating, in fact I can't remember when it last crashed, but mostly I did it because I could

[Q] Kernel to use with u8800-cm7 ROM?

Hi all
I see genokolar's latest cm7 rom for u8800 can't be used with franco's kernel. I use this combo now, on the v11118 rom. No doubt this'll get sorted soon, but...
If I want to update to 111128 now, or if this incompatible issue happens again, what can I do?
Does the geno cm7 rom include a "default" kernel?
If not, what other kernel options are there? Seems to be very few in the u8800 dev forums, and nothing seems to be actively maintained (note, not u8800pro!). Should I return to the stock kernel? And if so, how?
Thanks to all for the great work going on here, my u8800 would have been swapped for something else if it hadn't been for the awesome dev work being done.
every rom has its kernel...
thanks mate
