[Q] Digitizer/Touch input acting weird when charging - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I first thought it only occured on low battery, but it it seems to happen whenever the wall charger is connected.
Scrolling is somehow twitchy and on the keyboard letters are pressed far from my finger. Any clues?

charging with phone powered off error?

Call me crazy but I seem to remember that while charging with power off, the batter icon would fill up with green, and the star looking symbol in the middle would be animated and spin around.
My phone doesn't do this anymore, and it looks like its occasionally resetting while powered off recharging. The screen blanks and the battery icon comes back after about 5 seconds. The LED doesn't turn on either. This happens with a fully charged battery or a battery that needs charging.
The phone acts perfectly fine when its on, no random reboots or anything like that, although my battery life has been sucking balls lately, 6-8 hours with moderate use after a full charge.
Any ideas what might be wrong? This happens on 2 different stock batteries, two different brand new Blackberry USB cables (much better quality than cable that came with the phone), plugged into wall charger or PC. Also, if I unplug the cable from the phone, the battery icon stays there unless I battery pull or camera/volume up/power reset.
Edit: I went from 100% battery to 42% battery in about 20 minutes of it being powered off, plugged in, in the state of what I believe to be a charging error that I described above.
Edit 2: This has been reported quite a few times and is a CWM issue, not ACS. I just wasn't using the right search terms last night lol
Sounds like a problem with your phone..
Also, what star? Lol

What recovery are you running, I saw this reported as an issue with CWM 3.0.0.6, but I am running that recovery, along with EB13, and the genocide 0.3a kernel and have no issues, charged my phone with it off last night, no issues.

Star was the best word to describe it lol, star looking icon that spins clockwise in the middle of the battery while its charging.

I'm running 3.0.0.6 and EB13 too, with ACS kernel. I'm going to try going back to stock and see if that has anything to do with it.
I saw this too.
I've seen both this problem and a similar problem (also reported by others) of the phone freezing with the battery icon in place.
These problems went away after a flash to stock with Odin.
Subsequent re-installation of CW3 did not re-create the problem.
This only happens with twilight zone kernel

I think this may be a bug on ACS. I have the same problem.

Well, a stock flash back to EB13 has fixed this problem for me. Going to try reflashing CWM and ACS to see if I get the same error.
Also, seems like that star I was mentioning only pops up right before the charging indicator starts lol, I couldn't remember what this screen normally looks like
THIS IS WHAT USING THE SEARCH BUTTONS WILL FIND YOU!
For me a similar situation, with a common solution! Thanxz!
RnS! Lol

Touchscreen doesn't respond while charging

I had the same problem with my Droid Inc., especially when i used a two dollar ebay charger but still with the factory one as well. Maybe every 10th touch get some reaction but thats it. I assume it has something to do with the capacitative screen but that means there some serious leakage in the charger...
By the way, this took me 5 minutes to write, this keyboard dock lag is really getting iritating.
wait, so are you saying you get lag on your touchscreen when you'red docked in as well since the dock charges the transformer?
I sort of knokw what you're saying, as this happened on my HTC evo a while back, but was fixed through kernel tweks and updates, but i've yet to come across this on my TF while docked/undocked both on and off the charger.
If you're updated on the latest firmware, and still doesn't work properly, i'd try a factory reset, or do a return/rma.
i understand that there is a slight lag when typing on your dock, but mine's barely noticeable once i get my writing going. This whole thing took maybe couple more seconds to write than it would on a regular laptop keyboard, if even by that much. I only notice lag when i'm deleting or backspacing.
If its charging off the dock its fine, its when either is plugged into the charger does it present itself.
The keyboard lag is a general issue. Yes im up to 3.1.
This happens on a number of tablets. The Nook Color has issue with not recognizing taps, entering double characters, or freezing while charging.
And then if your fingers are wet all bets are off. It goes into a loop with screens flipping back and forth.

Screen insensitive to touch on the botton right corner during charging

Hi, I have got the Note for a few weeks now and loving it to death.
However, I have found an irritating problem. The screen becomes insensitive at the bottom right corner during charging, which became apparent to me when I had a hard time swiping the notification bar back up.
I have done the touch test by pressing *#0*# to confirm the problem and it only occurs when connected to a usb cable during charging and only with the fingers and not the S-pen.
I am wondering if it's my Note that is faulty or can someone verify that its happening on their Note too by doing the touch test?
Thank you.

Are you using the stock charger? My GSII screen would go nuts when hooked up to a charger I bought at WalMart.

Just got mine, and it was working fine until the KL7 OTA update. Now, when charge is low (below 30%) the bottom right 1/8th of the screen will only respond to pen touches, doesn't matter if it's charging, or plugged into USB.
When the battery gets about 35%, and no USB connection, it'll accept finger input. Plug the USB cable back in, and that area goes dead to finger input again.
I'm using the supplied USB cable, tried also using cables from my SGS1 and SGS2, and chargers from the SGS1, SGS2, original Tab, and Tab 8.9 chargers. Problem persists.
This happened totally stock, unrooted. Did a factory reset and flashed KL7 using Odin, but it didn't help.
I'm in the process of downloading KL3 as I type this, once that's done I'm going to flash it, see if it's still a problem.
If that doesn't fix things, I'm suspecting that it's a battery voltage issue, which may be fixed with a new battery, or a good clean charge.
I'd return it, but it's gray market imported.

Various, including stock and straight out from the pc usb port. Same outcome.
No change with KL3. Pretty sure now it's a battery or shielding issue, and livable.

No, your note is not faulty. It depends on which charger are u using.
When i use Galaxy s+'s charger, it behaves exactly what have you describe. but when connected to note's charger, no insensitivity whatsoever.
And strange part is, some user experiencing reverse effect......

I'm have having the same problem. It doesn't matter which charger I'm plugged into, or into my computer, the screen becomes kind of strange, and the keyboard becomes very insensitive.
anyone found a solution ?
right corner problem still the sme after i flash abyss kernel 4.2 anyone help?
I had exactly the same problem when it was on gingerbread. I went to samsung service center and they replaced the display. Dont ask me the logic behind it. But i have no problems after that. May be its a hardware fault.

I have returned my first SGN to the shop due to this problem. It may not respond at all around bottom right conner when laid horizontally. This is not depending on plugging to charger and make the shop accepted my return.
My new SGN from other shop still has blinded area on bottom right corner but not too big like the first SGN. I think this may be normal for SGN.

My note and galaxy s did this with cheap chargers or USB cables plugged into a wall charger with USB that were off Ebay.
Switch to a Samsung, motorola or Nokia micro USB charger.

Really strange issue

My wife's phone started giving her a lot of trouble. At first, whenever she would take a picture with flash, the phone would die. Shortly after that, her battery started bouncing around percents. It would be 80%, she's reboot, then it would be %10. Now her keyboard randomly stops working. The keyboard shows up, she can type on it like normal. We get the pop up keys and haptic feedback, but nothing shows up in the editor window. It does this with both the default keyboard and Thumb Keyboard.
She was trying to text her nephew when the issue popped up, so I let her use my battery and I put her battery in my phone just to test it. When she was done, I swapped them back and now my phone is incredibly laggy (almost unusable), I'm having the same keyboard issue and my battery is draining very fast... I'm running CM 7.2.0
I wiped her phone and reinstalled CM 7.0.3 (I thought I has 7.2.0 on her SD but didn't) and the issues are persisting...
Has anyone heard of something like this transferring through a battery? Can anyone recommend a way to fix this?
Nope. It sounds like something is SERIOUSLY wrong with that battery, though. Toss it and get an Anker. I hope it didn't cause permanent issues.
Bad battery

That battery is toast.. I go to eBay and grab the 3pk of red batteries and the single battery charger I think it's like $5. I now have 6 good batteries I rotate out for $10 and the red ones will charge in the phone (aftermarket black ones don't). If you spin the battery on a table and it spins more than 90-180* you know it's bad ( it starts to bow out in the middle).

[Q] Screen issue and charging

Hello, mates, have a few problems that I want to discuss.
First of all, the screen issue. I don't believe any of you had such thing but sometimes when I wake the device, the touch screen is just crazy. I mean I touch somewhere specificaly, but the screen 'gets' the touch somewhere else. Plus, sometimes, I don't know if it's lag or smth but the screen starts moving through pages even though I didn't touch the screen. I happens after device has been asleep for a while. Reboot solves this problem but it is a problem even trying to select the reboot option. Sometimes it's like some side of screen isn't responding. Tried different roms, still nothing (the stock one also did this).
Then there is charging problem. Well, it's not a problem, actualy. My nexus charger got broken and I bought a moderate price new not asus charger, which states that the output is 2.1 A. But my nexus can't get more than ~600 mA output with that charger. Using a phone charger 1.1 amps output everything is fine, the battery monitor shows about 1000 mA while screen is off. So the question is, whether there is a kernel/rom that would have a fastcharge feauture (like some phone kernels have) or there are some of them but I'm not smart enough to turn fastcharge on?
I tried franco's, faux, oxydos, kangaroo, M-kernel.
