Camera - Vibrant General

OK. Didn't care for the look of the camera while running the latest Cm7, so figured I could use the bloater app to install the one I was used to before I installed Cm7. After I did I had NO camera at all. So I immediately uninstalled it and now I STILL have no camera. So how do I my camera back without Odin'ing or leaving Cm7 and going back to a 2.2 or 2.2.1 rom? Thanks.

You can re-flash CM7 without wiping. Boot into recovery and re-flash. Your camera will be back.

Thank you. That worked! Now, is there anyway to use the camera app I had before I flashed CM7? I think it was from a captivate even though I'm using a vibrant. Thanks again.

No, because CM7 is not compatible with almost ANY TouchWiz feature at all. That includes the camera too.

Miss a few stock apps...

I am running rubix focused and love it but I miss the stock messaging app that allowed you to view the emails in a small window. Is it possible to get and use that stock app or is there a similar app that will work as well as the OEM?
Also, is it possible to get the free version of Quick Office that came with 2.2.1 and use it with the rubix rom? Thanks.
Check sysadmin-x's guide to flashing a new rom... i feel like that would help your situation

Ok, so some of the apps are part of blur-as in you can't simply find them in the old 2.2.1 files and use them on a custom rom?
Thanks for the reply.
You can... if you're using rubix try the blurry version as it allows you to restore the blur via a tookbox i believe.... I'm on apex that allows you to restore blur via scripts

Thanks I will give it a try. I didn't know if you could simply install the bur camera and camcorder onto focused.

[Q] Application backup/restore.

I came from a hero running cyanogen6 I flashed many roms and nightlies while using the hero. If I remember correctly when I would factory reset to install a fresh Rom my Google account would automatically re-download the apps I had previously downloaded.
It was my understanding this was a standard feature of 2.2. But my shift does not do this.
So my question is "what is up?"
was this just a feature of cm6?
Is my phone the only one that doesn't do this?
Somebody set me straight on this issue, as it makes switching roms much more work.

Htc took it out. It's a feature of aosp 2.2 and above.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Well that was an easy answer.
So if I use an asop Rom it should auto download?

Yeah but probably not to what you were on your past aosp rom, but maybe what you got now.

Depends on the gapps ver.
On my heroc I kept two sets of gapps, one full and one tiny. They restored entirely different sets of apps everyime I flashed (for some reason, I just picked one randomly every day for about 3 1/2 months, loved aospMod.)

All I know is this worked when I came from the semi stock rom that I was using as my daily driver.

The only Shift ROM I've experianced this on is Evervolv. I believe CM7 should do this too but it's either not implemented for the Shift yet or not working.

[Q] Virtuous doubleshot front facing camera isn't working. Any fix?

I am using evilDs virtuous doubleshot 1.1.6 and it is amazing. So smooth and great battery. Rotating Rosie is perfect. My camera quality looks great to me but when I try to switch to front facing, it closes and sends me to my home screen. I check the pages of the android development to are if someone else had this problem but didn't see anything. If someone could help that would be great. Thanks in Advance

This must be due to some bugs in the virtuous doubleshot rom. Just try to replace the camera app.
I will give you the sense 3.0 camera app (with 1080p) but you should use it on 720p mode only.
Always do a nandroid backup before trying this. You can download the app here.
Hey thanks let me try it now to see it works. The camera that came with it worked for awhile then suddenly stopped

So are you using mytouch 4g slide? if you got 1080p support, you can use that mode. Otherwise don't try it.
Don't forget to hit the thanks button.
No I'm using the mytouch 4g with the virtuous doubleshot Rom from evilD. I tried the apk you gave me and it installed but the front camera still doesn't work. Not to Sound like a noob but I'm using the xda app and I don't see a way to hit the thanks button

So if you want an error free rom, then try virtuous unity 2.37 .
It's much better than doubleshot.

Eh.. I use vds 116 and ffc works fine for me without any mods. Try doing a full wipe and reflashed.

Cm 7 camera

Is there a better camera that will work with nightlys?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
I know there are a few that use the MIUI camera. There's plenty of posts about that in the CM7 thread if you search. But just curious, what's "wrong" with the CM7 camera?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
First. I am all cm! But the camera is lacking. Its a personal thing.

You're right! Please post if you find a better camera..

I don't think anyone is questioning the validity of you wanting a different camera. I believe BrettApple is asking what you don't like about the CM camera because knowing this information could help people make better recommendations.
Maybe you want more special effect options
Maybe you want a different shutter mode
Depending on what you are looking for, people will be able to make better recommendations.
I've personally used CM7 stock cam, MIUI cam on CM7, Vignette (a market app), and Camera Zoom FX (a market app).
These days I just use the stock CM7 cam for most stuff. I occasionally fire up the MIUI cam so I can take advantage of the burst shutter mode. I don't have any other cameras currently installed.
So does anyone have a link to the miui cam? And would I flash it or install it with root explorer?

This attached version should be installable as a regular apk (i.e. no need to flash/push)

Does the MIUI camera still cause reboots with CM7? I used to get them all the time.

I got one. Not sure what setting though
Rest in peace Mr. Jobs....
If you are having reboot issues, I believe that turning off the AutoFocus will resolve. Some people seem to experience it more than others: I have no idea why.
If you disable AutoFocus, touch-to-focus still works.
I use the mini camera without any problems on cm7. I like it better than the stock for the versatility in settings. Is very easy to add.

[Request] How to port the Camera app of CM7 to stock 4.9.51 (GingerBread 2.3.4)

Hi bros,
I have spent much of time to play with many custom roms on my Atrix. Each of them has own advantages and, ofcos, the disadvantages. Finally, I stopped at the HomeBase Blue Chronic by Seancreams (with thanks to him for a nice and light rom). But I longingly remember the Camera app of CM7 because of its quality and speed. I have tried to copy the Camera.apk taken from CM7 to /system/app/, and also set permission to 644 as well as wiped cache/dalvik-cache, but just got failure.
So I would create this thread with hope that some developer may guide me the way to take that Camera out to push to my current rom.
Many Thanks in advance,
