Can I run rooted stock Froyo internal and boot to HC? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My NC is version 1.1.0. I rooted waaaaaay back in February using auto-nooter.
Currently I am running the Decad3nce rom, OC'd etc. internally
I am running HC v4 from sd.
Would I need to unroot, get the OTA update for Froyo, then root again? After doing that would I still be able to put my sd card in and run my dialed in HC?
Thanks in advance, it's been a while

[Q] Unrooted and back to stock phone

I was using CM7 with speedmod kernel and CWM recovery on my SGS i9000B.
If I re-install stock samsung firmware using Odin will it be unrooted back or wil it still be rooted?
Actually, what I want to know is, will samsung support guys know that I ever rooted and installed a custom ROM on my phone i I do this and take the phone to support maintenance?
IT will remove the root and they won't tell so long as everything is as it was. Just make sure to remove any reference to rooting and cm7 from your internal sd card. Reverting to stock rom won't do that.

[Q] How do I start fresh? I would like to run HC 3.0 or 3.1

I am relatively new to this but I have tried a few versions of phiremod.
I actually had the dual boot Phiremod with HC running on my Nook for a week and loved it and want to go back.
My current situation:
I did an emmc bootable HC and now I am stuck. I have no stock boot, I have Clockworkmod 3.0.2.8 on an 8gb SD.
I tried to flash to the dual boot Phiremod and it didnt work. I am not sure what i need to do to prep for it.
Do I go back to stock first? If so, how?
When I tried to flash it, I just keep booting into CWM.
What I am looking for is someone who can explain to me how to get back to the basics and then get a version of HC on my nook. I loved 3.1 that I had even though it was just a little glitchy here and there.
Does it boot up to HC without the sd card inserted? If you are trying to run Phiremod off the sd card I would just redo the sd card. If you are trying to get back to stock use this thread. It will put you on 1.0.1 then once you boot up you can do a system update and it will take you to 1.2.

[Q] 1.3 update?

Is there an update zip that I can apply to get 1.3 yet? I've tried looking and the only way I can find is to go stock, download the update from b&n, then re-root with mn. I was just looking for an update zip I can flash from cwm.
Rooted Stock 1.2
MN 2.5.18
OC 1200

You can sideload the update from B&N without restoring to stock first. You'll lose root until you re-root, but there are instructions here and here that have worked for the vast majority of people.
so the sideload update will work, I just need to re apply mn 4.5.18 and then 4.6.16? But
i have to wait for the nook to update itself once the 1.3 folder is on the nooks internal memory?
thanks.
edit: cant believe i missed your thread! oops

Yeah, I just followed the procedure like B&N tells people to do if they don't want to wait. In other words, just drop the 1.3 update from the B&N site to your nook over usb. After you eject and unplug the usb cable, the nook screen will shut off and it will process the update and reboot. Once it reboots, you go through all the stuff (MN5.18, etc). Work of caution - TAKE A BACKUP NOW!!! I use a bootable sd and do the whole nook that way. Bit of a life saver....

way behind.. rooted 1.01 -> 1.3 + CM7???

I havent been able to keep up with NC development as much as I'd like, so after reading many directions and many posts I figured it'd be faster to tap the collective wisdom...
Current setup:: first gen nook, 1.01 rooted with autonooter. (no Clockwork)
Desired setup:: updated to 1.3 with root (i like the ability to jump from ereader to tablet) and CM7.1 on an SD card..
I was thinking of just 8 booting it to restore to stock, then upgrading to 1.3 and using manualnooter... Could I flash that update without the restore step?
then using [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957] to get CM7 working..
Is that all correct? I just want a sanity check before i start flashing.
Running CM7 off uSD is a completely separated procedure with no interference with whatever on the internal memory.
You can start it off w/o waiting.
Just in case anyone else is curious. I created a CWM sd, loaded it with both the 1.01 stock flash and 1.2 stock flash.. flashed each. then copied 1.3 over per B&N directions, let that install. then finished up by booting again off the CWM disk and ran MN 4.5.18, 4.6.16
Now im stock rooted and very happy. Thanks to all the developers who created these wonderful tools.

Question about backing up stock NC ROM

I am used to rooting and nandroiding ROMs, at least on my phones: Hero, OG Evo and 3D Evo, but at this point I'm not rooting my NC. I want to back up my stock NC, which presumably has 1.3 on it, as I got it for Christmas. I ran roustabout's script to stop OTA updates. I might want to try the update, eventually. Hence I'd like to back up the stock ROM I have now, and be able to restore it, in case I don't like 1.4.1. Thanks for any help in advance. I did search, but since I'm not rooting, wasn't sure how to do it.
BTW, using Racks' multi-boot from SD card, I can boot into either CM 7.2 (Kang) or ICS. It does what I want, and runs pretty fast from my SD card. And, if I'm at B & N, I can remove my SD card, boot into the stock ROM and still read for free!
Just make a bootable clockwork card and use the backup option and you will get a nandroid of your current set up.
