Thank you! You enhanced my point.
Lately X10 forums have become a circus of irrelevancy: threads like these are all over the place: "SGS 2 is better" "I don't want an Arc" "I wanted to buy an HTC Sensation but I'm redecorating my kitchen instead"...
SE should release the GB update already. We are getting pathetically bored (and boring)!
Xperia X10i via Tapatalk
You know the Vita isn't a phone and doesn't have any phone functions? It's on ATT network for the data requirements. And I think ATT is Po'd at SE since the Vita is Sony and the tablet is also from Sony. They have yet to announce any actual SE phones.
MEANWHILE the Vita at $249/299 list price is way cheaper than the Play's suggested retail price. AND it has real cutting edge hardware.

So you're going to replace a powerful smartphone....with a gaming device.
You're comparing apples to oranges. The PSVIta is not a replacement for a SGSII.
Just because the specs are bigger doesn't mean it's better, or hell, in the same category as the SGSII. You can't compare those two, they're for two different markets.

Hey... I am totally disappointed. The X2 is not a really big upgrade from X1. I was looking for an AMOLED screen which costs 66% less power than the conventional TFT. The screen is still too small. The Omnia II i8000 has a 3.7" one while TG01 has a 4.1" one. I like SE. They build excellent devices. However, this time, I believe I will switch to i8000 or wait for K01 (TG01 with built-in keyboard).
Just to share my feeling. Thank you.
I thought it will only cost around $700?? If that is the price when it will first be release, i wait about 4 months and i'm very sure that they will cut the price because no one is buying it..
nevermind said in a different thread that the x2 will be round that price for sure...remember the p990 was $1299 USD when it was released?

na, what i've seen, it's to cost around 700 € (euros), which makes 1.000 and something in dollars... nice try, sony, but no, thank you.
well I guess x2 is more NEW user oriented, as we existing x1 users (I believe most of us) will hold on until something better like toshiba k01 (snapdragon) or nokia n900 (same cpu/gpu combo as in iphone, palm pre + maemo linux).
I made up my mind. it's like with hermes - kaiser situation, only on this one upgrade was worthy for built-in gps. this time it is silly to shell out 1K for such a small step forward. who needs 8mp camera in pda anyway? picture quality on x1 is already great. tv-out? my n95 8gb was plugged into telly just once. accelerometer? more of a gadget really.
CPU in this baby is the real deal breaker. such a shame... I was really hoping to get this one, but I'll stick to the x1 for now.

i think he is saying all companies are making a lot of profit. but in the end they set the price and u choose to or to not buy it. all these top and phones cost about the same in the uk (around the £500 mark for a sim free). i also think the company expects most people to get it with a new contract or as a upgrade.
That is a well known fact. My point is that I'm not going to buy the same old stuff over and over again, for the same or higher price.

I'm not English but even me know that the SGS2 is under 400£ in UK.
Look at Play.com or Expansys for example.
quick camera access, advanced photo editing tools, wireless sync and advanced voice commands are all beyond the capabilities of Gingerbread,
????????????????????
Both the iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S2 cost roughly £500 for 16 GB models if we’re talking PAYG.
Idiotic statement .day one of launch £399 O2 PAYG .
GiffGaff sim is sized normally, therefore will have to be cut for the 4S, which is a relatively simple task
Lacks research GiffGaff cut them for you .

Granted, I did purchase it from Amazon. Though, it can still be used with a pay as you go card, right? Right. Therefore, it is available to students on the public market, for £120 cheaper than the 'iPhone 4S'. This plays a huge part in it's 'value v performance war' against the iphone... which, incidentally, it destroys the iphone in.

Exactly my thoughts. Even the contract side maths is wrong. My contract is £21pm with free minutes and texts (though less than the 3000 quoted) plus the 500mb data bolt on, without a phone the same contract is £10pm so the phone is costing £11pm over 24 months - £220. Even for those who can't seem to comprehend that your monthly fee isn't just the price of the phone that's £420 which is way less than the quoted £600.

Why should you be angry.. If they release another flagship in 6 months, good for us. Sell the current one and buy new one. Simple

Actually, that looks like a low-end phone for the MVNO's or emerging markets.
This looks like a mid-range phone.
HTC had three devices released at the same time last year (One X, One S, One V) so to make their 2013 numbers it only makes sense for them to continue adding new phones to their range.
Well they already said that we gonna get only 1 high range. And it is fiiine.
That M4 render majors it look cheaper than any of the competition. I wouldn't buy it.
Sent from my 2.4.0 Trickdroid HTC One via xda-developers application
Definitely a low end phone, they shouldn't be worrying about another flagship phone when I am still waiting for my developer version.
Doesn't that look like the HTC First?
I really hope they don't mess it up by launching a One+ in 6 months.
This is their main problem (ok maybe 2nd after marketing), if you buy an HTC flagship phone you know that after half a year you no longer have the best of HTC (sensation XE, XL, Onex+, Onexl...)
Samsung & Apple don't have this problem.

You want HTC to stop innovating or stop producing faster phones even when they can, due to improved binning, just so that you can always have the latest phone?
That sir, is ridiculous.
Perhaps they should make it two years before releasing new models as that is now a typical contract length and European warranty length?
Or three years, because let's face it, who likes spending money?

Exactly all these people complaining about companies releasing new phones. If you can't afford don't buy, it's not that companies have to release phones according to some ones buying habits. There are always people shopping for new phones in different seasons, so companies have to release new phones to be relevant. The htc one 6 months down the line will be an outdated phone. I can easily see an updated version of One with Snapdragon 800 may be.

I don't think we can call the Sensation XE and One XL innovative phones and it's not only a matter of personal preference, I don't think I am the only one in this case.
Last year HTC admitted they launched too many phones and people got lost in all the different versions.
In the end it's a problem of strategy; Apple and Samsung have a simple offer (at least with the flagship devices), which is easier to advertise and apparently easier to sell.
Mystery solved.

Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC will begin promoting its new customizable E1 phone in China, our sister newspaper Commercial Times reports.
Chinese customers will have the option to customize their phone through HTC's website with a variety of accessories including its case and the color of its phone charger, and also amend its features such as the phone's RAM and camera resolution.
HTC China estimates that the E1 will have the highest performance value among the company's smartphone range, with its price ranging from 1,700 to 1,899 yuan (US$275-$310).
The Taoyuan-based company has boosted its market share in mainland China over the past year, but its higher range models still lag behind rivals Apple and Samsung.
The E1 will reportedly sport a 1.15 GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch WVGA screen, dual SIM cards and 2100mAh battery. Custom options will include the phones built-in storage (8GB or 16GB), main camera (five or eight megapixels) and one of the six body colors plus patterns.
EDIT: Nobody forces/oblige you to read this threat, so stop the childish behavior and comments (it start's already on page 2)
Someones might find it interesting others none at all, but has it to end in all threats like at rooster shows?

$299 - You've got my attention
If this device with all the latest specs costs $299, then how much money do other carriers make of their flagship?

But there are also other costs, like research and development and such.. So i would say, roughly 50-75 euro/dollar per unit..
that is one fugly phone... looks more like the LG L series that a sony IMO...
corners are too sharp, the metallic frame looks like it done by a 12 year old boy with a ruler...
no imagination at all...

did they use lego to build this thing?
It needs some color accents, I don't think the washout white is very complimentary. 5.8" screen is too big for me, the 5" XZ1 screen is already pushing it. It's bigger than a Note! The concave edge design is interesting, I think I like it, but it seems like the edges and corners are too sharp. It looks very "cut out" from certain angles. The specs are mind-boggling, though, not sure how they're making that work.
People... Learn how to read -.-
First sentence : " The Taiwan-based company BungBungame has developed a prototype high-end Android smartphone with a target price point of $299, a low price for the specs."
THAT'S NOT SONY.

The black one is interesting. The spects are ok but I worry about the service and warranty. The material maybe are cheap but I like the idea. If the phone do his job is worth it to buy for that price. Also difference between "Made in Taiwan" or like Sony "Made in China" shouldn't be there. When you buy Sony you also pay for the Trademark .

Plus factor in high latency ram, value bulk nand, crappy processor and there is still a decent margin.

Look at the design ... it is clearly inspired by the Z1. There's no coincidence here.
Eh, our snapdragon 800s are still faster than that crap Chinese processor.

Tell me about it! I had to use Huawei Ascend P6 for 5 weeks while my Z1 was repaired/replacwd. The Chinese quad core 1.5GHz in the P6 sounds beefy, but in real usage, it was so slow and laggy, the S400 in the Motorola G runs circles around it!
PS. The 5 weeks repair was due to I went on Xmas holiday soon after leave my phone for repair, and did not pick it up after returning.

Just saw this on GSMA. Specs don't seem to be the biggest upgrade and that price is significantly higher than what we paid for the One.

This version of the phone was at the coolicool site for more than a month!
Simply gsmarena found it yesterday!
yeah I saw the news today as well on several source,
Was hoping they will start to use SD 810, and possibly make the memory convention at least 4gb, to cater for at least 64bit memory space of usable space 2gb max.
I wonder what kinda project their operating system will be based on since they going to do if its not CyanogenMod, it will be one of the biggest challenge they will face especially for user who likes to have their own custom rom.
Four GB of ram on a phone is 100% unnecessary at least for now. Cyanogenmod may still work with them in future we do not know for sure. Even if there is no cm 'S' series firmware available in the future, most likely it will come in nightlies as regular builds.
I keep seeing price estimates of $550 and if that is USD, then I think they are making a big mistake (ala Nexus 6 by Google). To me, I saw the point of this phone as something similar to the Nexus 4/5 - a phone that offered a lot at a favourable price over the competition.
From a Canadian perspective at least, a price of $550 USD will mean an end price of around $780 CDN after shipping, currency conversion (which is at about 16.5% right now) and taxes on delivery. That's nearly $300 more than it is for the OnePlus One (which runs about $500 CDN depending on the province you are in). I can't see anyone up here wanting to go that route since it is the same range as every other Android flagship (which run between $600-$700 plus tax) and unless things improve drastically on the customer support front, there is still a lot more risk and hassle buying a phone from OPO than going to your local mall and picking up a phone. If they get as good as say Google is with the Nexus phones (I had easy RMA experiences with them numerous times with the Nexus 4 and 5 where I got brand new phones in about a week) then that may change my opinion.
Of course, Canada may not be a huge market for them and it's not like our weak dollar is their problem but I think they are selling quite a few OPO's here now and that market I can easily see drying up real fast if they raise the price that much. Thought I thought the same for the Nexus 6 as well and maybe that is selling well in Canada despite it being twice the cost of the Nexus 5.
I believe users who bought opo were looking for an upgrade to nexus 5 or bigger phone then nexus 5, but thought nexus 6 was either too big or too expensive lol. If opo releases one plus two that's significantly more expensive, I see even less people taking a risk on this manufacturer in the future

No body would buy it for that price anyway.... Why would someone buy a Chinese phone for high brands prices
The note 4 would be a better choice..
OnePlus had an AMA today and said they were still using the same business plan of small profit margins. The price would only go up if suppliers raised prices.

I second this... And if these specs from the link on OP are true (since these are just rumors), I will most likely not be getting the OnePlus Two; totally not worth it. I really hope these rumors are fake, or I'll be going back to HTC as my next phone.

Here is the latest from the rumor mill:
5.5-inch QHD display size
Snapdragon 810
4GB RAM
3,300mAh battery
Android 5.0
RMB2,699 yuan ($435)

This looks better and more probable than the rumor linked in the OP.
It may also have dual-sim capability and an SD card slot:
A still image allegedly taken from a OnePlus promotional video, supposedly shows a device that might be the next phone offered by the upstart manufacturer. The photo reveals a device that supports dual SIM cards and has a microSD slot.

If this is true (and it's a big if), I sure hope that dual SIM is an option since it would make developing custom ROMs nearly impossible.

You'll probably have to hold out for the LG G4 Pro then, as this rumoured device supposedly features this chip. It sounds like it could be a great handset, hopefully its smaller than 5.7" though, I think 5.5" is the max size for a phone, anything bigger and you might as well get a tablet.
I heard OnePlus is gona push the boundary and introduced the worlds first smartphone with 10k screen and a PPI of 1,000 :cyclops:
