Hii Guys
I know, the US model is a google experience device, and i am guy who like to be updated, but unfortunately, i am not a super user on Root, image etc.... so how can a guy like me, get the newsest version, witout doing bricks on the xoom...?
Is there any simple easy guide, to make a canadian model to a US Google Experience Device...?
i havent playing with ADB or what they calls, but really wanna have 3.1 on the xoom... or do i just need to wait for a update from moto...?
is there any video, easy guide in the net.... i couldn't find video's
my model is:
MZ604
Android 3.0.1

Step #1 still has prerequisites and CWM while a great utility has been the #1 reason for people coming here posting bricked xooms.
What about flashing the device with US images from motodev? If it's the MZ604 can't you take the US image instead of the Canadian image and then follow the instructions on the motodeve website?
OP try looking here: http://developer.motorola.com/products/software/
You're still going to need prerequisite experience and tools such as the JDK and Android Developer Toolkit.
Sooo, i just need to fallow instruction on 1 and 2, then hope it will help..
i didn't get the one with the us image in post.. what u mean

Here are direct links to stock images that don't require Motodev login:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049485
Look in this thread,
You will need the windows drivers for your device. You also need to get the JDK and android dev toolkit installed so you can run adb.
Come back when you're at that point and we can go further

OP, I went through this yesterday, follow post 7 in this thread.

DO NOT relock the bootloader. Eventhough it says to on the Moto site, don't do it or you will brick your Xoom.
Also language packs are included in the guide.

Please please please make sure you have a good understanding of what you are doing first.
I would recommend installing the JDK and Android Dev Tools and then make sure you can successfully run DDMS and see your Xoom in the debug monitor. Then you know for sure you are all set to start running adb and fastboot commands.
This is what I did: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14237506&postcount=7

Where to obtain instructions and the Android 2.1 update firmware:
- 2.1 firmware "Nordic" and flasher by Bin4ry: (this is the one I used, a nice tutorial by user gfgodoy at post 3): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201
- 2.1 firmware "Global" and flasher by jerpelea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
- 2.1 firmware "Gobal" and flasher by MarylandCookie: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825675
TIPS:
- Charge your phone, at least 50% prior to updating the firmware
- Extract the flashing tool into a folder in your root directory ("C:\")
- Make sure you put the firmware files into it ("C:\X10Flash-2.1\firmware")
- Make sure you have "SEUS" or "PC Companion" installed and you have connected your phone at least once (for it to install the USB drivers)
- For problems ("unable to open channel", "Exception in *** java", etc) plase check this nice thread by Bin4ry: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823115

No. You can root from here after you flash.

It also means good news. I will post you a step by step rooting guide.
1. Verify serial # starts with B80
2. If it does then enjoy stock rom and no root because there is no root for you

So I posted a thread here asking for help (the phone was functional at this point) and one user suggested a root method to try out in the comments there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2379833

Ouch. Your WiFi is broken because he told you to flash a US VZW (XT-907) firmware.
Okay. First, you should try to find a 201M restore file. That will get your WiFi back. Next, since you've got a Dev edition, you can bootloader unlock and install a custom recovery, then flash a root zip
EDIT: Found it

While the link I gave him was unidentified as to warnings to non vzw users (now fixed) , the flashing of vzw sw comes in step 8 clearly he would have had to have pulled it from a xml himself if he even got that far. And if he did it would have been from reading the rzr op. As the bare motochopper has no vzw sw inside.

I didn't get the system img at all. I just wanted to flash the superuser files to /data which I thought would set me up to flash the whole thing with Rom manager.
Anyway, thank you for the help. I am downloading the firmware you linked to now. This guide tells me to edit the XML file and remove the getvar text from it, should this apply here as well? (Edit: Cant post outside links, but I think you get my point)
I'm going to use RSD 6.1.4 to restore the firmware. Any further instructions would be appreciated as I have never done this before.

I think I'm gonna give up on the idea of rooting this thing until there's a more reliable method available. Also, if anyone has the same issue then take note: I did remove the getvar commands when using RSD.

I am glad SC took care of you & I am sorry I lead you in that direction.
Please fill in some details for others?
How do you have a path to the newer sw? Is it your carriers ota? If you can obtain the same in the xml form there is an easy root using a modded ver w/ unlocked phone. The ota.zip could also be useful if you take it while you have root. It resides in /cache.
Thank you

It wasn't your fault for trying to help, so it's ok. I'm glad a solution existed.
I'm more than willing to answer the questions, but I am a layman here so please explain some things for me: What do you mean by SW? I just installed the update by going into about phone -> system update on Wifi. The carriers here don't even support 3G, much less 4G (So now you know why Wifi was important for me).
The phone came unlocked day one when I bought it from a friend's friend. I don't know if he did it that way or if it comes unlocked because it is the developer edition.
I installed CW Recovery using Fastboot. I installed the incorrect superuser file using Motofail which wrote the superuser file but failed at all other steps. I was then unable to either access or remove this superuser apk file.
Since I am back on 4.0.4. now, what's the easy way to get root access and superuser permissions that you mention? I wish other XT902 owners would post here too, generating interest would really help in getting development support for this phone.

Once you root on 404 you can grab your update.zip & copy it to your sd . Any rooting exploit would evolve from that Or the newest xml ver of the 404 you just flashed from rsd. You may be able to request it from your carrier.
---------- Post added at 01:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:40 PM ----------
You can paste the mods from my vzw restore (no vzw software will be used) into the 404 xml & obtain root from a preinstalled cwmr! Then maintain root with voodoo for your ota.
I will help you just read the op. Link is in my signature.

Where can I find the MDB08L modified boot image for root?
Hi, just received my Nexus 6P today from Google Canada, and found the tutorial "How to Root the Nexus 6P or Nexus 5X on Windows, Mac, or Linux—The Foolproof Guide"(can't post the link as a new user... ).
But this tutorial is only for Build Number MDB08K, where mine is MDB08L... Just wondering where can I find the Modified Boot Image for MDB08L or should I use the same image mentioned in that tutorial for my MDB08L? I did found the factory Boot Image on Google forum for Angler MDB08L, but I guess this is the factory one which is not "modified"...
Any help or suggestion is welcomed. Thanks ahead!

The new method roots your device without modifying Android's system partition at all—hence the systemless root moniker. Hi everyone,
Today I am posting this thread because of some idiots who are now sharing pre-rooted firmwares for SM-G361F that are full of bloats.
I am sick of that, this is why I upload the archive of the first pre-rooted firmware I got that was at least clean.
You can download it here: https://mega.nz/#!oqpRhZJZ!B18uTiB3TH-QfChoqjgWCNmaPjqInPZbFyI4u9-T8s4
Note: This firmware is ONLY for Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-G361F devices with AOG1 build.
Of course I don't own the firmware and I didn't root it, I just keep the right to upload it.

Pre rooted
Hey,can you find SM-G361F pre rooted version for this device?
BaseBand G361FXXU1AQA1
Build number G361FXXU1AQD1
I can't find it anywhere
I love what you're doing. All other pre-rooted ROMS are full of trash. Could you make it for G361FXXU1APA3?
Hum... OK guys thanks for the love but I have to remember you something.
I am not a developer yet and truly not a ROM unbloater: I didn't "disinfect" the firmware, I just reuploaded it (well after a fast check, I found I've already prevented about that, just read the thread please...)
So no dudes I can't do that, sorry. I COULD eventually do that, removing bloats and extract system image to make a flashable shouldn't be as complicated, but I do not have time.
Sorry to disappoint you.
Hey Atronid, you rock! I have the AOL1 but intend to give it a try cause I already rooted it but it's full of bloast. Do you know if I can flash another pre-rooted firmware considering I did this already? could this be harmul? -brickful? )-

I don't think doing this will brick your device, but careful. Ensure the usal requirements are here (OEM unlock, USB debug just in case...) and you made a backup, also in case something goes wrong.
But if you're rooted you got plenty tools that can remove bloats from your device, but I hope you're not easily scared because once removed system may spam that the bloat you just uninstalled has stopped. You can get rid of that by just rebooting your phone.
So you don't need to reflash any firmware if you just want to clean your phone up.
Yes, you're right. The problem was that the apps I tried to remove other apps weren't the right ones, but now that's sorted thankfully On the other hand, as I couldn't find an Android 6 ROM for my phone (not even a sorry recovery.... ) in the end I set my mobile to install new apps on the sd card by default. Actually it works similarly to the app Link to SD, so a part of it is on the SD card and the rest (like the data it generates) in the device storage, despite all the tutorials sell this method as "Installation directly on your SD card". You need a computer and official Android development tools (SDK). In case it's of any interest for anyone I'll include the tutorial I followed, but it turns out I'm not allowed to post links yet, so the title of the article was Cómo instalar aplicaciones DIRECTAMENTE en la tarjeta SD from androidjefe website. In English, How to: Force Android to automatically install apps to SD card from softonic website
I hope it helps

Read first post. I don't think it will work if you have a build other than AOG1.
And you should not use TWRP to flash like this. Use Odin and Download mode instead.
Will this rooted firmware work with my SM-G361F phone? Need advice...
Hi there,
Will this rooted version work with my phone?
I'm new here and need some help and advice re Rooting this Samsung phone SM-G361F - I'M NO TECHIE but have ability to following instructions and make connections etc. My phone details are below.
Baseband G361FXXU1ASC1
Build LMY48B.G361FXXU1AQD1
Patch level is 2017-4-01
Security software version ASKS 1.2_161011
I did once try rooting a Samsung tablet using Odin and it all worked OK, but that was a while ago.
How important is it to get the identical build or baseband? Anything else I need to check?
I was trying initially trying to change the phone's MAC address, as I was experimenting with the phone, however I could not use an App to do this as it stated phone that the phone needs Rooting first for App to work. Also tried Terminal Emulator app but it kept failing to work as I was probably, unable to input the text commands required correctly.
I hope someone can please help and advise me on this.
M
Kind regards
