Contacts Number Display - Acer Iconia A500

Hey guys. I was wondering if you guys can help me with the number display in Contacts.
They seem to be defaulting to US formatting. Example: a the number 040 000 0000 is being as (040) 000-0000
I can't find any settings like setting regions etc. If anyone can help me that'll be much appreciated.

I have the same on my one bought it in the usa. leave in the uk.
don't mind it too much as I only look at my contact and not dial out. only have wi-fi version.
But would be nice to see it properly.
Regards
Last time I had a A500 it was my Amiga500 and I loved it too!!!!!

want that too, for thailand...

What's the point in having (040) 000-0000 seen as 040 000 0000 ? Is it just an aesthetic choice or is there actually a broken function or something? Just curious.

Just cleaner, but code is also incorrect (208) should be (020) and mobile no. (759) should b (075) looks like only missing 1st 0 I guess it is a real problem for people who dial out directly from there tab. For me its purely for the look....

Definitely sounds like a honeycomb bug to me. You should report that to google.

If you have a UK version of the A500 build, you should see a British format, I guess.

Because here in Australia, we use 040 000 0000 formatting. Besides, it cuts out the first digit in the Contacts on the Iconia e.g. 040 000 0000 reads as 40 000 0000.
I though I could change it somewhere in setting e.g. region/localization, but can't find anything in there

I noticed that also some of my phone number are missing the first 0

Since 1 and ! are on the same key and 16 might refer to internal storage, I'd presume the ! is just a typo - but only Acer knows for sure.

[Q] Change own Phone Number n ROM

So what's the setting for in the pics rooms under Own Number? I get that it changes what the sim sees but is that all? That as it is seems almost useless. Hoping there's some greater reason for this......

I recall people asking about this because a few apps use that setting to function. I believe one of them had something to do with voicemail. Pretty important to them....

[Q] What is the nexus listed as on asus website.

I'm trying to register my nexus 7 on asus website to claim my £25 but I can't find it listed.
There is a drop down menu with laptop, desktop etc etc and then a second drop down menu to pick your device but I can't find the Nexus 7 listed.
Any help would be appreciated
Doesn't matter I've found it under EEE pad, just wont recognise my serial number now and tried both. The C60 one and the 16 digit one.
Hi spacecadetuk, when entering your serial number, try entering C6O instead of C60 (the letter O instead of the number), not sure if this will help but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that this works so might be worth a shot.
Hopefully this helps, good luck!

Yeah, like the person above me said, the character after the C6 is actually an O. Not a zero.

How to identify fake and genuine nexus 4

Hell all XDA members!
Next week I'm going to purchase a nexus 4 (16GB) version. Play store hardware market not supporting my country. Therefore I have to go for a 3rd party seller.
I'm not a newbie to the Android world. I already have an Android phone.
I want to know, how do I identify fake and genuine Google Nexus 4 (16GB)? I suspect there may be fake chines Nexus 4.
Apart from that, are there any way to view hardware specifications by using dial pad?
Any help really appreciate.
Thanks!
if the phone is slow then you know it isn't the real deal xD

You could do an IMEI check. Once you get the phone press *#06# and IMEI number will show. Then google IMEI checker (http://www.imei.info/) seems like a good one. That will tell you information about your phone. Also, once you get the phone just go to settings-about phone, theres some info there.

Go to the following URL: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=111111111111111111 (substitute the IMEI number for the 1's) -- it should return manufacturing information about the device.

Greetings,
Did you get that nexus 4? Hope it was original. Who did you get it from? I am also waiting for one myself and will check if it is fake as soon as it arrives
Thanks

Another tipoff is the screen. I've seen knockoff phones before (Note II for example) and the screens aren't in the same league as originals. LG put a decent panel in the N4.
CPU-Z -
Know the specs.. Good clones will usually have the stuff people will look for on the surface.. Working wifi, cellular data, camera, speakers. They will usually skimp on things people wouldn't normally check ~ have lower res screens, less ram, missing sub features ( GPS, LED for camera, Gravity Sensors, sometimes even a microphone etc) and less RAM. Some also have really crummy touchscreens, have difficulty detecting touches around the edges ( try typing with the keyboard or using an app)
As a side, is the N4 a popular target to clone? It seems like it would be a low risk considering its price point vs the competitors.. Also it seems like the target audience for this phone would be more capable to spot a fake ( again vs the mainstream phones)..
Seems like I always see the grey markets flooded with Samsungs and Apple, can't say I have ever seen a Nexus phone or tab. At least in Shanghai / Hong Kong
Contact me. I'm in UK. Will order and ship it to you. ( will open a secure connection between you're machine and mine ) you can order and despatch it

Unfortunately, that IMEI site does not detect fakes for Galaxy S4 i9500

--> I traded my HTC One for a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 with someone through Craigslist. Unfortunately, I was so excited to get the phone I only used imei*info to verify the phone's authenticity and checkesnfree*com to see if the phone was blacklisted. (new user so can't post links)
Results from both sites were a "go" so I did the trade.
With T-mobile (or any carrier) I knew I wouldn't get 4G or LTE speeds with this model phone, which was fine. However, it was impossible for me to get off EDGE (pure H3LL after having LTE with the HTC).
Did the research I should have done before doing the trade and found out at least one easy way to ID a fake i9500: Check the phone's serial number. It shouldn't be "123456789ABCDEF" - obvious enough, if you know where to look. If it is you absolutely have a fake.
They may get smarter and this not work to check the i9500's, but for now it's good enough.
POINT: Don't be an idiot like me and fail to do your research first . Checking a couple websites isn't enough.
[Placing the post in Galaxy S4 section also]
Just download "os monitor" from any market and it will tell you everything from the number of cores to chip set, CPU e.t.c that should do the trick along with the imei number.
Cataclysm rom with full respect to Atl4ntis Remembered
I have the same question but my question is how do i spot a genuine lcd digitizer with lcd from a fake one?

the notes section in a contact is limited in the s4

In my previous galaxy phones. S, S2, and Note, the notes section in every contact did not seem to have a limit to the number of characters in it. So you could have comprehensive notes in them. But not any more. In the new S4 i9505 it is limited and its not very big. Bloody annoying.
Any idea if this is sorted with the custom roms? I assume so.

No it is not.
I posted huge chunks of text from a website into the notes section and it saves it just the same.
Your contacts source/setup (SIM Card maybe ?) may be the issue.

Hmmm... sorry, but it is definitely limited to about 960 characters. But I think I know why it doesn't appear so and why it SEEMED to work for you (But didnt really).
If you go online cut and paste 2000 characters into the notes section of a google contact, then it will accept the text and save it. If you then go to the contact in your phone you will see all 2000 characters. So it looks like the note field has capacity for lots of info.
HOWEVER... if you then try to edit the contacts note field from within the phone you will see it will only show the first 950-1000 characters. And if you try to add more it wont accept it. And if you make a change and then save you will discover all the text after 1000 characters is now lost.
This was the case in the stock 9595 rom. And now im on the WananLite 1.3 Rom and have discovered the same problem.
Not sure if it exists in roms created from scratch.

The entire text you just wrote is 983 chars... including bbcode.
That fits nicely in my notes... i tried to double paste... and indeed there is a 1000 chars limit.
For mere mortals such as myself that is alot...
Ill try a third party contact app and see if there is a limit.
But seriously are you keeping a a dossier on people in your contacts app?

I guess there are some setbacks to being a stalker
I am a financial adviser and keep a lot of note in there. The Notes section seemed to be unlimited in my Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note. But the S4 has this 1000 character limit.

I am running into the same limitation. This is clearly not a limitation of Google (support.google.com/mail/answer/148779?hl=en[/url]) and my Nexus-S didn't have this limitation.
I hope Samsung fixes this because while it probably doesn't affect most users/records, for those that are affected, it's a huge deal and it obviously doesn't have to be this way.
I wonder if a fully customised rom wont have this problem? Im on a slightly modified Samsung rom
dimails same

I'm certain that a non-stock ROM could have unlimited note field length and that a Google Experience ROM will have an unlimited field. Someone should soon be able to confirm this?
sg3 too

SG3 has the same limit, it's a big restriction if you manage a large number of contacts with large notes.
Worst part is that it´s undocumented
