Viewing SD Card without Asus software? - Eee Pad Transformer General

Is there anyway to do this? Im running OSX so can't install the Asus software and the SD Card nor system will mount

Use a card reader?
Transformer itself uses MTP. OS X doesn't support this out of the box, so you will need some third-party software, regardless of whether you're working with SD card or not.

How does 8125 format MiniSD?

I was trying to find a faster way to downloading video to my MiniSD card so I used the adapter and stuck it into my SD port on my laptop. The laptop recognized the card as being unformatted and offered to format the card. It was the phone that formatted the card and so I'm wondering how it formatted the card for use. I don't suppose there is a way for my laptop to recognize the card without formatting it? Further, I'm having problems syncing files larger than 300MB into the card. When I tried, active sync would shut down. That was the reason that first got me to try to use the adapter and my laptop.
AFAIK Windows Mobile formats Storage Cards as FAT16. This file system is readable for all Versions of Microsoft Windows.
The fact that your card reader does not recognize the file system makes me believe that it's not fully compatible to your mini SD card. You could try to format the card in your reader. Maybe you're happy and it works after that.
If not, go and get an other card reader.
Active Sync is not the application to use for transferring huge files. It is known to be quite instable. Maybe a more recent version of AS might help, or a direct USB storage driver for your 8125 like 'WM5torage' for example.

[Q] Cant see sd card when connected to PC

I just wondering if I got it wrong. I have a sd card in the a500 which I can see when accessing via Astro file. I cannot though see the sd card when connecting the tablet with the pc. Is this correct or am I missing something?
I have the same problem. It works on my Samsung Captivate running 2.2 but not my A500?
I read that this is by design and may be fixed in some update (some day)
I hope it soon!!

Same with my A500. I get a "write protected" message but no way to change the permissions on the SD card to remove write protection.
I can see the internal storage space
I can see the internal SD of the tablet on my windows box...not the sd card thats in the slot. I did however install usb drivers from acer they are on the support homepage of the acer a500

You should be able to go through sdcard folder to external memory. Acer gives root directory instead of just sdcard.
I cannot see external CD card as well via PC.
Astro reports it in /mnt/external_sd
yes, this is a well-known issue that is most likely honeycomb related.

sd card shows "external"

hi there! so my xoom was unlocked, rooted and loaded with tiamac kernel 1.6GHZ
i have 16gb mini-sd but when hooking up on windows im seeing only external and showing its only 145mb??? am i missing something? please help
thanks in advance
the removable SD card in the xoom is supposed to found at sdcard/external. that part is correct. you may need to properly format your external SD card. you can try removing from the xoom, and format it fat32 in windows or using a program like Panasonic SD card formatted. you could also format it in an android phone. remember it is not hot swappable, so you will need to reboot or have the xoom powered off when putting the card back in.

[Q] SD Card file size limitation.

Ok, this is obviously not related to the Nexus 4. But I'm asking here anyway as this community has knowledgeable folk and I know it well. I did search but did not find a definite answer.
I have a non-rooted all stock phone. With a 32 GB micro SD card in it.
Question: How can I transfer files > 4 GB to the card?
If I format the SD card to NTFS, will the phone recognise the card?
If not, ext, etx2,.. format? How? And will my stock phone recognise the card? Will my Windows PC recognise the card?
FAT32 does not support files greater than 4gb. NTFS and exfat indeed would, and you'd be able to access either fine in windows
On your phone, it'll depend on your rom / third party apps. Stock roms generally only support fat partitions. I *believe* some newer samsung roms support exfat but that's on you to do your research.
CM has supported ntfs, exfat, and ext with rw access for a while now. Otherwise, you'd have to look into third party apps/tools. However, these generally won't "mount" them in the same manner as android natively would, and so the ability for apps to access them in the same manner may go out the window.

No format on SD card after marshmallow upgrade

Hi, I'm trying to find how to solve this problem with no success.
I got Bliss Rom with marshmallow and i formatted my sd card as an extension of internal memory. Something that marshmallow allows.
I got back to stock system and recovery in order to upgrade officially from stock but, the system doesn't recognize the format of my sd card, suggesting to give it a format.
After that, system keeps on not recognize my sd card and I'm stuck.
Do I have to format it taking it out and accessing via a cardreader to manage file system or there's a way to solve this?
Thank you in advance...
Try to format it with a computer

No success. There are 2 partitions that cannot be modified. I'm stuck...:crying:
I just [RESOLVED] an issue after inserting a brand new SanDisk 128GB microSDXC sd card.
The Honor 5X will format the blasted thing to exFAT which refuses to open up in my Windows 8.1 Laptop to access folders and the like. A try to format to FAT32 did not have that available either. (Windows only showed NTFS/(default) exFAT)
So what i did was grab this SanDisk formatter
Code:
http://www.verbatim.com/includes/binary_details.php3?show=1&id=840
and in an instant my formerly exFAT transformed to the more easily PC accessible FAT32!
Now it shows up perfectly whenever plugged into any PC via USB and you can feel free to reach your SD Card contents manually to your hearts content.
No need for Huawei's (in my opinion buggy) HiSuite which i find sorely lacking and too much wasted time with Import/Export stuff.
Hope this helps someone, anyone who thinks that they absolutely must use Honor's/Marshmallow's own formatting to exFAT.
