Nook app on CM7 not working...?

Hello all...
I picked up a Nook Color this evening and followed these steps to get CM 7.0.3 on it...
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Barnes_&_Noble_Nook_Color:_Full_Update_Guide
Everything android-wise is working great. I even have the kindle app and google book app running, but to my dismay, the Nook app won't work properly...
If I go into LIBRARY and download any of the 9 books in there...it will error out...if I search for books that my girlfriend can search for using her nook color on the out-of-the-box software my nook can't find it, but hers can...
I see people with thunderbolts complaining in the comments in market that it won't work on their phone, but I'm hoping there is some way to get this working on the Nook Color running CM 7.0.3.
Thanks!
Maybe this will help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964485
Please let us know. I need the Nook App working if I decide to go CM7.
These are the instructions linked to in that thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966339
I'm not sure if running off the SD card makes a difference, but I'm running CM7 7.0.3 off SD card and just bought and downloaded a couple of books last night in the Nook app without a problem.
Are the partitions managed differently when running CM7 from EMMC vs SD card? Sounds like the app is having problems placing the (downloaded) file..

[Q] Unable to root nook colour 1.4.2

Hi
I am new to android stuff, and I am trying to root my nook color 1.4.2 by following
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494901
from above guide i am unable to find how to do a complete wipe for nook color 1.4.2 so I followed
http://www.inspiredgeek.com/2011/05...ware-update-factory-reset-on-your-nook-color/
although its not for 1.4.2, may be to this reason I am unable to do complete wipe nook color 1.4.2.
Also I followed all steps to create a bootable SD card from the 1st source
but unfortunately I am unable to boot nook color from SD card, hence I am not able to root my nook color
Please Help.
usually when this happens there is an issue with the SD card. Reformat it and start again.
Additionally... if you are using an internal SD reader then try buying the cheapest USB reader you can... far too many times this is the issue writing the images to the cards.

That is GMPOWER's ManualNooter thread. If you are running stock 1.4.2, you do not need to do a wipe beforehand. At most, you'd need to do a factory reset via Settings->Device Info->Erase & Deregister Device. If you're running an older firmware version, you can reset using the same procedure.

That describes the "8 failed boot" reset method, which is another way of doing the same thing. If you can get into Settings, you don't need to do this.
Follow the other suggestions for your problem creating a bootable uSD card.
I just bought my Nook Color a couple weeks ago. I had 1.4.2 and I'm using a cheap $6 sd card. Use ManualNooter to root it. All the links for this stuff have already been posted in this thread.
On your computer
- Download and open winimage
- disk > restore virtual hard disk image on physical drive
- flash the clockwork img file to the SD
Use the one for your sd size. I had a 4gb card so I used 4gb_clockwork-3.2.0.1 (there is a list of them)
- Once complete drag and drop Manual Nooter 5.02.19 and Apps2SD Stock Kernal onto the sd
Plug the sd car into your nook and turn it on. Once you get to this point you should be able to follow the directions on the regular manual nooter page. Which is something like.
- Wipe all data, cache, ect.
- Install zip from file - ManualNooter #___
- Install Apps2sd file
- Take out sd card, and reboot
- Done
Then from there you can install other roms the same way you installed the manualnooter zip, or use rom manager
just an FYI... you do not wipe data when using manual nooter... preferred method is wipe... download your content... root with manual nooter
Unable to root
I've read multiple threads on different forums and can't find a solution. I'm trying to root a nook color 1.4.2 and install CM7.
I've tried 2 different micro sd cards, made them bootable with windiskimager, using an external card reader, downloaded the files more than once in case earlier ones were corrupted, no go.
The nook has been reset to factory. It will not boot from the SD card. every time I try it just boots normally.
Any suggestions?
Mine and my wifes nooks were older versions and I had no problems rooting and installing CM7. This one belongs to a friend and I'm about ready to throw it out the window!
Check the device information to make certain it is in fact a Nook Color and not a Nook Tablet... we'll go from there.

It sounds like your using win image wrong. Make sure you have the correct clockwork file. My card is 4gb so I'm using 4gb_clockwork-3.2.0.1 and you load that with winimage. Then you drag and drop the manualnooter and apss 2 sd file.
I'm almost positive that it's a nook color. I did a reset, so I'll have to get my friend to sign back into it to check. I was using a 2gb card with a 1gb image. Most threads state that doesn't matter, but I'll try the 2gb image. After burning the image I was then copying the other necessary files straight to the card.

Dammit, it's a nook tablet. Gotta start over. Thanks.

Mine work(ed/s) find with the step-by-step here using a 2 gig sd. What I am needing to do is allow non-nook apps (market works fine) as our college has developed an campus app & I can't convince the Color Nook BNRV200 to allow its install & everything here that I have found or tried doesn't seem to work...

[Q] Nook not powering on

Hopefully won't get in trouble for making the same topic, but I was told I posted in the wrong section, so...
Anyway, without fully reading or knowing my girlfriends Nook was a color, I tried to downgrade it with the information from the topic '
[Stock Firmware]Restore Barnes & Nobel Nook Tablet 16G 1.4.0 from SDCard'
Like I said, didn't realize she had a color, and it's a 8GB, rather than 16GB.
Now the problem is that it charges but it won't turn on, at all.
I've been searching off and on today looking for ways to fix it but even when I find something links to things I need are dead. Can someone tell me exactly how to fix the Nook so that it can power on, link to me working links of what will fix it? I've hacked my Wii, PSP, so I'm not completely new to rooting.
I was also told I should make a bootable CWM card flash a CM7 ROM, but I'm not quite sure what that means... so if someone could explain?
Much appreciated, thanks.
Leapinjar knows a lot of about the Color and has made a very extensive post about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621301
I would start with item A10 on that list

It won't turn on because the boot files are corrupted. As the prior user said go to my tips thread and make a bootable CWM SD per item A10 and then flash the stock ROM from A15.

I still can't get anything to work. I'm using a 8GB micro sd card.
I burned the CWM Recovery SD v5.5.0.4 to the sd card using win32 disk imager. I had to expand it, which I used the mini tool like you said too.
I downloaded the stock version 1.4.3 zip and moved it to the sd card. Tried to turn the nook on but nothing.

And you are sure it is charged? Put my card in and plug the device into the PC via the charge cable. Let it sit there for quite a while and see if you get any life.

As far as I know it is. The light is green on the cable, and it was fully charged before I messed it up.

help with rooting my nook color

Hi there
I am new to the tablet world and recently got a nook color. I decided I would like to make it more like a tablet and have been trying to root it but to no avail. I've tried everything, even the guides posted in the forums right here. Most recently I extracted the clockwork mod 3.2.1 to my 4g microsd plus moved a cyanogenmod zip to it as well. Every time I boot up my nook however, it goes straight into the normal OS welcome screen. My version is 1.4.3 and would like to find a guide that deals specifically with this version. I have been successful in the past getting into the microsd boot menu but the zip files that I install never show up. Thanks in advance for any pointers anyone can give me on this and I hope I am posting in the correct forum.

Looks like you are having two issues.
One is getting the CWM card to boot to CWM instead of stock. There can be several factors that determine whether the card will boot. Look at my Nook Color Tips thread linked in my signature and read item A9, bootable SDs. It talks about the issue. Rereading what you said, you say you "extracted to the SD", you mean you burned the .img file to the SD with burning software? Followed by copying the zips to the card?
The second issue is why your zip files don't show up. I am not sure what is causing that. When it boots to stock, can you see the files with the stock file manager? In the CWM menu when you do get it to boot to CWM, are you choosing the option that says "install zip from SD, followed by "choose zip from SD "?

While I'm not the OP, I am having the same problem. NookColor 1.4.3
I burned the SD agnostic image to a SD card. Then copied a CM7.zip build to the card. Placed that into the nook, powered on. It just boots stock.
The card shows up in stock OS, has the 5 files(MLO, u-boot.bin, uImage, uRamdisk, cm-7.2.0-encore.zip) that it had when in the PC and 3 added directories from the nook upon boot(B&N Downloads, LOST.DIR, My Files)
Have tried lots of other files on the SD card. It always boots stock. Tried different SD cards(SanDisk 8GB Class 4, Generic 1GB)
Have EVO rooting skills so I understand what I'm doing. This is my first Nook.
This thing is crap with locked app store. Need to root to either install my apps on stock or run full blown android. Dual boot would be ok too, but I don't care about warranty. I just want something to work.
Are you sure you have a Nook Color? You could have a Nook Tablet, they look just like a Color but have a silver bezel instead of black. The model number on the Tablet is BNTV-250. These cards will not boot on a Tablet.
